She is not aggressive, she is anxious. If you're a groomer, you have to know the difference between the two. If you pay attention, she actually calms down when you speak in a soft voice and speak to her directly and are gentle with her, going at her pace, not yours. She picks up on your voice/tone and becomes agitated when you speak loudly to your audience, are out of tune with her and not as gentle as you could be. You can't do that while grooming. You have to be in tune with the animal and put them at ease and go at their pace. That's your priority. You just have to feel it from the dog's perspective and genuinely want to relax them.
No always. Anxiety is the main problem here. This dog uses "aggression" as her last resort when crying and begging doesn't help. She is not constantly aggressive. When she is put on the table, her reaction is anxiety and she is agitated to get off. This type of dog will also be anxious to go for a walk, anxious to lick someone's face, anxious to get off leash and run etc. She won't be showing aggression as her main response. I am sure you've seen truly aggressive animals and you know what I mean. They freak out even when you're calm and gentle. This dog responds to calm/gentle. She is simply anxious.
I should have just "liked" your comment before I wrote a super long comment, myself, lol. I totally agree with you. She's not doing the dog any favors with her energy, nor muzzling her right away. And the way she's chopping at the dog's hair with those clippers is almost frightening. She just said she's "hyped up," and "freaking out in my mind." The dog is DEFINITELY picking up on that, and it's not ok. Even the way the guy is holding that dog...what would she have done if she was alone? I never had anyone to wrangle dogs for me. I had to figure it out on my own. Holding them tightly is also going to heighten their anxiety. I dunno...I was expecting something very different when I started watching this video. I'm monumentally disappointed.
JN amen! There is a difference and it’s huge. An anxious dog can be taught not to be if you are patient, work with them gently and show them lots of love and the best part, they get better. It may take longe the first couple times but eventually they become awesome dogs on your table! I’ve worked with serious buyers, especially on nails, after 3-5 grooms no need to muzzle at all. Part of grooming is training and the best training for grooming is trust building. When you just slap on a muzzle and get it done as quick as you can furthers their anxiety and they become worse. I wish groomers had better training in dog behavior, it would help so many dogs and groomers. It’s our responsibility to make the grooming experience a good one.
AMEN! Literally my thoughts while watching. I was uncomfortable the whole time. Seeing her blame the dog and label her as aggressive, because she's very clearly not. Her increased breathing, body language and cries showed signs of a distressed and anxious dog. The WORST thing you can do is speak loudly and make quick movements. She's in a new place, without her owner, and some strange women is coming at her with a loud clippers, loud voice and camera pointed in her face. :/ I've worked with dogs all my life, so seeing this was disappointing.
Muñeca de Trapo patience, where? She's making the dog worse, the dog doesn't like that table, she's terrified because she's never been groomed, she isn't making it any better
Pobre bebé, todo lo que tuvo que pasar con esta persona que no entiende nada de amor y paciencia hacia los animales. Cómo pueden los dueños llevar a sus mascotas con esta mujer????
shes literally all three of those things. they dont cancel each other out. Doesnt mean she wont get better in the future with a proper grooming schedule
That’s what I’m saying? She wasn’t mean or aggressive. She didn’t try to attack or bite. She didn’t growl, she was just whining and crying. My dog literally does that when I leave the house, starts whining and howling and crying. It’s called being SAD and ANXIOUS smh
I was an instructor at a dog grooming school for years and we had hands-on for all types of dogs. That dog in the video is NOT mean - merely stressed and probably has an anxiety disorder, perhaps aggravated by previous grooming experiences. The vet who has primary care of the dog can prescribe an oral muscle relaxer or anti-anxiety medication to be given by the owners just before bringing the dog in. I would expect this groomer to be more concentrated on the dog and closer to the dog's body, holding it steady with one hand while using the clippers. A 2nd person can give narration, but a groomer's attention needs to be on the dog, period. A soft, soothing voice, and slow talking during the clipping can help quiet an anxious dog - also, I always would let the dog sniff and see the clippers before beginning, and let them listen to the sound - I never want the nervous dog to be startled or feel they have no input into the process - their cooperation is the #1 item needed. If it's possible, holding the dog to your chest occasionally while grooming can be reassuring - dogs respond to touch, and some get more anxious as they are left "alone" on a table. Hands on, soothing voice, body contact and PRAISE when they've done something difficult for them. And if the #7 blade doesn't work, try an #8 1/2 - wonderful for an in-between length on a curly coated dog.
@.s.k.7721, So well said! I wouldn't trust my dog even for a second in the hands of such a groomer. Little dog got even more scared in the way the groomer handled her. So sorry for this poor dog.
Me hizo tan mal ver este video. No puedo creer que existan personas que traten con animales y lucren con ellos a cambio de su sufrimiento y dueños que lo permitan. No vieron que estaba muy asustado y nervioso. Solo necesitaba amor y contención
I felt anxious watching you. Your lovely, but you were not calm and the dog could feel it. I cloud feel it. She is scared not aggressive. She calmed down when you spoke calmly to her at the end. I think if you tried to do that the whole time, it would have been a bit easier.
She seems to get more nervous with louder/normal voices. When talking more sweeter, almost whispered, she looks like she was paying attention. Very interesting this behavior. Maybe someone shouted at her (not saying the owners, maybe some unprofessional groomer).
No, it is that she starts to feel unsafe when she raises her voice, I also think that some one nicked her paw with the raise and now she is scared or it could sensitive ski
kayBTR, then that is a good opportunity for the dog to figure it out. I do think her demeanor isn't very helpful . My cats always act so good at my vets because they are just firm and calm. I have asked why they aren't so good for me and they say because they aren't afraid of me, guess that's good.
Agreed. Also experiences like this reinforces the behavior... Owner should work with the dog and get her used to being groomed and handled in the future
There are better ways to teach a dog to accept grooming. This is scaring the dog and setting her up to be even more fearful and reactive in the future. It's not the groomer's job to work with her on this issue but her owners need to work on this issue or it's just going to get worse.
Fig Girl I’m with you just soo scared and nervous I don’t think she even tried to bite I think she’s just really afraid of the noise and environment and going ugh ugh ugh is not going to help the poor thing . It’s obviously not helping her saying and talking to her that way.If that was my dog I would be giving her treats when she’s was siting nicely.
Rachel M, I think it might have been more like Relief that this is finally over! She was so very stressed. Bless her heart! She needs someone who'll just take time with her, take it slow and easy. Helping her to feel that there's no rush and no reason to be scared.
That's a fearful/stressed dog having a physiological reaction, not a "mean" or "aggressive" dog. I noticed you have a lot of other videos with dogs labelled "aggressive" and they are all fearful/stressed.
I have a dog that has been matted and I didn’t even realize it or that it pulls in their skin. I could feel your anxiety and fear as well and I don’t blame you. I don’t think it helped to be talking to the camera instead of her. Like others have said she seemed relieved once the mats were of her legs especially. Great job. Maybe the dog could come and visit in a week just for some cuddling and a touch up. PAM
just found your channel while researching how to groom my little buddy at home. As a veteran, I thank you for all you do to raise money for veterans and grooming their battle buddies. Wish you were in Utah
Me too! Wonderful to see the whole process and hopefully the owners follow the grooming/ walking recommendations so that the dog will relax more. So good to see someone care so much for animals.
Whew! Me, toooo...and that's just watching...doing the work is INTENSE and you have to be very careful and precise. This was an AWESOME JOB especially considering first meet and no sedatives!!! THIS IS A GOOD EXAMPLE OF TRUE SITUATIONS ...this dog will get better and better with this groomer! This is a first step process well on it's way toward cooperation and developed appreciation on both sides! Success!!!
She doesn't seem aggressive she seems terrified. Like you said, she probably had a traumatic experience with a groomer in the past. It's a learned behavior; the memories of previous experiences are clouding her judgement. I can't imagine the number her old groomer did on her for her to be this scared. I'm glad there are groomers like you out there Dede to help reshape the grooming experience for scared dogs!
Never seen this channel before, just wondering why the poking method with the clippers? I would think that would be more painful for the dog than just gliding it along the skin? I understand she's matted but all the more reason to be careful. Just wondering the reasoning for it.
@@AndAllsToDoAgain Sometimes when a dog is matted the blade will cut about a millimeter and get stuck. You don't want to try to force it through too much resistance because that can lead to pulling the skin into the clippers or you may be cutting into a sore or bump that's not visible through the matts. Gentle dabs can be needed to slowly work through a tight matt. Maybe this is the poking you are referring too?
After all the hurtful matting removal, she started to calm down. If Princess was a human, they would be screaming for Xanax, Valium, or even Morphine. David great hands on work! Dede, you deserve a comfort meal, feet up and head to toe spa day!!
Ok I’m a groomer and groomers with proper training are taught Safety over vanity. After watching this you should have not done the groom. The dog should have been sent to a vet that grooms pets to be sedated and shaved so it could be safe. You put yourself in harms way as well as the dog. With the guy holding the dog the way he was, if that dog twisted or jerked the wrong way she could’ve gotten seriously injured or one of you could’ve gotten bitten. And I can only imagine what you did to that poor dog to get the face shaved because you didn’t show that part. And you did the dog and put her through stress for what?! The commission on the groom or the video. None of that is worth the dogs safety. What you did was traumatize the dog even more by forcing her through that stressful groom.
Vet student here, and man I cannot stress enough how important it is to have a good restrainer assisting you! Frightened, fractious animals are a danger to themselves and everyone handling them, no matter how much you are trying to help. I'm glad you have your dude there to help you, he did a great job!
Glitter Squeak Going to the vet and a dog getting groomed are just not comparable situations. Restraint at the vet is sometimes completely necessary! Grooming, not so much. If you need to restrain a dog THAT much, while grooming, you're doing it wrong. A dog usually fears going to the vet, they shouldn't be that fearful at the groomers. When going to the vet, chances are the dog is going to feel some sort of pain, even if it's just getting vaccinations, or a thermometer up its behind. Not pleasant things. A vet clinic even smells different, thus heightening a dog's fear. Going to the groomers should be pain-free, stress free, and VERY different from a vet visit. There should be no reason to restrain or even muzzle a dog, at the groomer's. A lot of us work alone, and having another person there to do this is often not even an option. We have to find ways to prevent it from EVER being an option, or we'd be totally screwed.
I have never suggested sedation, I did suggest anti anxiety meds for the one dog, the 1 year old yorkie, as part of the rehabilitation. This dog is Anxious, all that high pitched whining is anxiety, and then if she does not get to calm down then it explodes into panic. So, this is panic attacks, the spinning and freaking out. There is a huge difference in Anxiety meds vs heavy sedation, and sometimes it is kinder for the dog. I know you say "it's too hard on them to take meds once a month for a groom", but you know... these grooms are hard on them TOO. Hearts pounding, fear, panic, adrenal flooded nightmare.. so while I agree meds are not great, some of these dogs are far worse off over the panic of the groom. My point is, that some medication to allow the dog to LEARN that the groom is not going to hurt can be helpful. A dog can not learn to be calm during the groom when they are hyped up like this, the two are mutually exclusive. And just so you know, people do take xanax to go to the dentist, or do MRI's/Cat scans etc. Anxiety is miserable and dangerous. As a person with PTSD you know this, and basically many of these dogs have PTSD from bad grooms at other places. You admit that you were stressed and gritting your teeth and that David was pissed the whole time.. and the dog feels that and stresses more. They don't know why you are scared, they just know you are scared. Dogs learn to take cues from humans, so your feelings affect the dog.
Livinnpjs I have used Rescue Remedy. An herbal remedy just a few drops on the inside ear flap ( not near the ear canal). I've also known people who use it for dogs who are afraid of thunder, fireworks, and car rides. Also, sometimes covering their ears help, while grooming. It's just a cloth that loosely covers their ears and goes around their head. A lot of dogs are terrified of the noise of the clippers, or dryers. For some, it really helps.
I can see how that dog is panicking, panting and watching her whole body whilst she breaths. It is so distressing to me and I'm not even in the room. She is clearly crying through being terrified. If she had have become mean it would have been due to how she had no reassurance or calming surroundings. I don't believe the dog is being shown care or concern in any way, I understand there is a job to do, a huge part of an animal caring job is to 'care' for the animal. You could stroke her, talk to her calmly, friendly, reassuringly, this would help both her and you tremendously
My dog has severe anxiety so before his grooming appt, I give him anti-anxiety pills and it works everytime. He just sits there and have the groomers do their work.
wow, what a difference that was compared to another video I watched. the other person said DONT call them a good boy or girl, it only excites them, well you did and you clearly calmed them down, just a few soft words can make all the difference. That little dog was scared at first and you calmed them down, well done, the best groomer I have seen
If i have an anxious dog like her, I would learn to groom my own dog. It is difficult to do it yourself, but when your dog trust you, they are less anxious. Poor girl was crying the whole time.
What is with bichons and foot grabbing?? My family owned 6 bichons over time and None of them liked getting their legs touched, let alone groomed. They still went through with it, but they are extremely touchy with their feet.
My bichon is the same way! He hates being groomed in general, gotta keep at it every other week as he has a bad matting problem. But he absolutely hates having his feet done!! Gets very snippy and tries to run off. It’s just very weird. Then he gets ocd and starts chewing the fur on his paws making them raw. Always gotta have a come around for atleast a week after. Vet said it’s litterly only ocd but it’s just weird...
On_drey_ahh I have two shin tzu they are sisters, we are not sure what happened my one loves being groomed we call it pretty girl time, she is easy for everything other than her front paws she licks constantly our vet per her on cbd oil and wow licking has not totally stopped the nasty red stain is pretty much gone. I love your calming techniques, your maintaining a firm yet gentle
This video got me worn out..wheeew...I watched the whole thing and I don't even have a dog....but youtube recommended I watch this and it was a great video to watch and learn...You did a very good job...Thank you
I can almost guarantee she was turned away on aggression. I worked at petsmart and we were told to not tell owners if their dog was aggressive, just let the owner know it was a bad day for the dog. But, at petsmart, you're not allowed to put a muzzle on a bichon. If they had been able to muzzle her, they may have been able to complete services, but corporate and all that. Poor dog. Regular brushing could've helped her a lot.
Thank you for understanding. If a dog is too “stressed” than it’s unsafe for. a dog to be groomed. We have strict policies for a reason. We don’t send dogs home for no reason. It’s because we care.
Bless her heart she's was in pain & scared. I owner my own grooming shops, boarding kennels & pet stores. Let me just say to you, young lady you were AWESOME with her. Not at all an easy groom but you definitely kept your cool & hopefully next time shell be better. Good luck and bless you for not giving in or giving up on Princess.
I’ve groomed my Cavashon princess myself since she was 11 weeks old and she’s fine she has issues with blade noise it scares her so don’t use those anymore and I hand trim her fur. It’s all in the timing you have to start grooming them at an early age and I’d recommend using a groomer that you can sit and watch so your pet is comforted by you being there. That pup is nervous not mean that baby is afraid in time she will be fine patience is the key for her. You are a patient and amazing groomer. I need to order those face scissors.
Great video! So glad you decided to tape all the way thru. Was great to see how to restrain the dog. Could you recommend the lightest weight full size cordless clipper that has interchangeable blades? I have arthritis or carpel tunnel and my Andis AGC2 clippers seem heavy and my hand wears out fast.
Thank you for giving this dog the extra effort, patience, and love. She really looked like she needed and you didn't quite on her. Thank you for doing vets service dogs. You are amazing.
Music Games Animals always have a reason to their actions they're not just mean. Animals don't know mortality and what's right or wrong. If a dog is "mean" they might be scared like this one or just showing dominance since they are herd (or pack) animals. That's not being mean that's just how they do.
Your Using the wrong muzzle. The type your using restricts the breathing if used over a period of around 10 minutes. The type you should use is the basket type as it still allows for mouth to open to pant so you should be using that type for long periods of time. Ps if the dog can still open it's mouth then it too big or loose pps it's just what I've been taught
To those saying "she's not a aggressive she just scared and anxious!" These things are not mutually exclusive a majority of the time anxiety turns into aggression it's not the groomers fault by any means there's only so much that can be done
Loved your attitude throughout this grooming session. I also have a dog that doesn’t like to be groomed. He has bitten. We take him every 5-6 weeks without fail. Our groomer is building a trust with him. He is very food driven!!! Loves the snacks!

Great job! Just to let people know in case they didn't know, just because she was turned away from Petsmart does not mean they don't know what they are doing. The corporate groomers have to abide by the rules corporate sets. I work at a corporate salon right now and we are not allowed to muzzle dogs and if they try to bite they are referred out for their, and our safety. I cant tell you how many dogs I have had to refer out that could have been done easily with a muzzle but we have to groom by their rules. There are a lot of groomers in those salons that probably would not know how to deal with it but that does not mean all of them don't. I just don't want anyone to get a bad impression of corporate salons XD Love all your videos by the way! Love that you really help out your community! ps- I have the same clippers in green and I love them :3
You did an amazing job! I think the next round with her will be better because it seems as though you've established a bit of trust with her even though she does not like it. A dog like this needs to have only one groomer regularly. Even I have never ever trusted just anyone cutting my hair. My longest relationship with a hairstylist was 16 yrs. Here is a very stressed out pooch who struggles each time she is groomed so it's essential the owners stick with one and I think you are very good for this dog. Hopefully it gets easier each time.
That dog is scared. LICKING HER LIPS MEANS SHE IS SCARED - ANXIETY. I do not think she is a mean dog. I do think she would be better served by not having to sit there and wait through your introduction, also think she would do better if she was loved on and petted and talked to in a softer soothing voice. I don't agree with casting this poor baby as mean. THAT DOG IS PICKING UP YOUR ANXIETY! OMG poor baby :(
PSA to dog owners! Brush your dogs! I know it can be difficult and they might refuse it but you just have to do a little every day! Trust me I know! I have an autistic brother he will flinch and put his arms up if I pat him on the back but it’s about daily desensitization-finding the right moment to give him a good pat on the back, and him not freak out or at least freak out a little less😅
You are awesome! I don't think she's mean...she seems to have severe anxiety. You were so good at the end of the video when you were talking to her and trimming her face...she was trusting you.
This lady was kinda ruff to me but maybe that’s how you suppose to be 🤷🏻♀️ Maybe she should’ve comfort the dog 🐕 a lil more rub the doggy a little idk something
What do you mean flip out? Yea, she’s great I have no patience with anxious dogs. I wonder if this lil girls still with us. She looks about 3-4 in the video and it’s almost a 7 tear old video.
Poor thing. Scared and matted. I don't understand why people let their dogs get so matted? I've had 3 poodles and 2 bichons and of they ever had a mat that I couldn't get brushed out, I would just cut it out. I would never put that much stress on my groomer or my dogs! I've watched my dogs being groomed before, and they did great! My now 16 year old poodle ended up not even needing to be leashed or restrained. She just sat or stood still on the table (this was, of course, after my groomer got to know my dog for years and know her personality and behavior while being groomed). You did a great job, and I'm glad you had David assist you! She was still stressed, but the hugging seemed to help both of you! I think bringing her in monthly is a great idea. Shorter sessions and getting to know and trust you would be perfect. Even weekly. Bring her in separately for nails, body groom, face groom, and even one week for just a bath and a brush. Idk... I'm not a groomer, lol!
She doesn't look like a mean dog to me. But it seems to me like she has some problem. May be in her back legs n knees. But this poor dog definitely has some problem. N she is soo much afraid too
With extreme anxiety come bite history. So, if anyone says she's not aggressive, she is. I would suggest using something like the groomer helper. I didn't buy one but I use a loop twisted on the lower part of the arm. Also, for my extreme aggressive dogs I use a cone to complete the body and use an extra arm to loop the back side. That way if they get out of the neck loop they are still linked to the loop around their lower body.. And it helps from them twisting. Anything to help keep their mouths away from your hand. Us groomer need our hands.
This was hard to watch. Is this dog “aggressive” or in pain? I’m going to be super judgmental and say shame on the owners for not brushing her properly or at least getting her groomed regularly enough that she won’t get matted. Proper maintenance would make grooming less painful and traumatic. If the dog has (untreated) joint and arthritis pain, on top of matting yanking her skin, it’s not her fault she’s difficult. They are lucky to have found a knowledgeable, experienced and patient groomer willing to be creative and do some troubleshooting. I hope the owners appreciate the clean slate you’ve given them and they step up.
Michelle Kucera its non of the above, they are just more sensitive, the dog wasn't treated bad the owners probably didn't want to do anything wrong with a dog so sensitive to grooming and the loud noises from the razor doesn't hell at all since they get scared of it. These dogs get scared easily and will flip out if they think they are gonna get hurt. They just need more time to get used to grooming.
I just don't think she's used to it. We had a Lhasa while I was growing up and we'd get him groomed every four weeks on schedule but I took it upon myself while growing up to make sure that if he happened to get wet to blow him dry and keep up on his hair with regular brushing so mats rarely formed. Maxi was a cool customer overall though, really big for a purebread Lhasa, you'd almost mistake him for a slightly undersized Tibetan terrier. I miss him to this day.
Michelle Kucera I have the same issue with my dog (he's a Silky). We rescued him last year, he was super matted. We first took him to a PetSmart and they couldn't do anything because he got aggressive, now we've been taking him every 6-8 weeks to a groomer. But we still have trouble with brushing him specially his legs and head. He hates it so much that at the sight of the brush he starts to show teeth. He goes to the groomer with his legs and head slightly matted. The body he doesn't mind so I start there but the rest is an issue. My dog is a sweet and good dog is just grooming... I wonder what the previous owner did... or didn't do.
I rescued a dog who looked similar to her. I found him in the woods shivering in the snow with an old tight bracelet wrapped around his neck, crusted/scabbed on. He was old and in poor shape. I took him home thinking he would be surrounded by love and in a warm place before he dies. Yeah, I thought he would be dead by morning. He was there the next day, the next week and a year later, still hanging out lol. Anyway, I took him to the vet soon after and a groomer at PetSmart a week later. The groomer was great. The groom room has a show window. I meant to just watch the first 5 minutes and leave them alone but I couldn’t. I stood there the whole time with my heart in my hands feeling so sad for him bc he looked so concerned and was crying off and on, similar to Princess. She was fantastic with him every step of the way. He looked fantastic when she was done. He looked years younger and if I didn’t watch the whole thing, I would have thought they gave me a different dog! He went from a matted rough old doggo of 13 to a silky new puppers of 3 in a few short hours! A good groomer can do amazing things with a rough/neglected dog! So thankful for professional groomers who know how to care for and groom nervous dogs.
Yes Dede!!! Its all about the owners responsiblity. They need to know that those dogs should be brushed daily and perhaps get help with her anxiety (biting)
I work as a groomer at Petco, and I felt tired just watching this. One of my regular babies came in matted like this today, and this just made me remember my day. You are amazing, you have so much patients with her. So happy I found your channel, because it never hurts to learn some new tips. Keep up the amazing work 🤗❤️
Aww, she's not mean, she's terribly anxious.
I wouldn't say she's mean, I'd say she's extremely anxious
I agree shouldnt be labeled mean just a scared dog very scared thats all
You should change the title to anxious dog
anxiety makes dogs mean sometimes.
Bella Sharard yea true
She was teaching how to handle a mean dog not saying she was mean.
Her crying at the beginning made me feel so sad...poor little pumpkin!
Sometimes, it's just a trick to get me to stop. Sometimes.....
JKat 99 , I felt bad the whole time.
Dede Croy BUT THE IS NOT MEAN I GAVE A THUMBS DOWN she is just scared ur the worst groomer EVER! 😲😭😠 u were really harsh.
@@elizabritton4039I felt same. Poor baby 😢
She is not aggressive, she is anxious. If you're a groomer, you have to know the difference between the two. No always. Anxiety is the main problem here. This dog uses "aggression" as her last resort when crying and begging doesn't help. She is not constantly aggressive. This type of dog will also be anxious to go for a walk, anxious to lick someone's face, anxious to get off leash and run etc. She won't be showing aggression as her main response. JN lovely analysis! I Agree with you 110%. That baby needs love and support.
I love how patient you are with her.
She seemed very anxious not so much mean just very scared.
Muñeca de Trapo patience, where? She's making the dog worse, the dog doesn't like that table, she's terrified because she's never been groomed, she isn't making it any better
I agree she seemed more anxious and scared than mean.
sensitive too, probably gets groomed often and the groomers just zip right through it, not listening to her needs.
Pobre bebé, todo lo que tuvo que pasar con esta persona que no entiende nada de amor y paciencia hacia los animales. Cómo pueden los dueños llevar a sus mascotas con esta mujer????
This dog is neither mean or agressive , she is just scared.
shes literally all three of those things. they dont cancel each other out. Doesnt mean she wont get better in the future with a proper grooming schedule
Leslie Mal if you corner an animal it’s what? Scared. It then becomes what? Aggressive.
That’s what I’m saying? She wasn’t mean or aggressive. She didn’t try to attack or bite. She didn’t growl, she was just whining and crying. My dog literally does that when I leave the house, starts whining and howling and crying. It’s called being SAD and ANXIOUS smh
Leslie Mal it’s not that deep
Exactly.... She didn't try to hurt them or make any aggressive sounds. She's just crying. The groomer has a lot of nerve to use that in the title
Thank you for your valuable input.
Me hizo tan mal ver este video. No puedo creer que existan personas que traten con animales y lucren con ellos a cambio de su sufrimiento y dueños que lo permitan. No vieron que estaba muy asustado y nervioso. Solo necesitaba amor y contención
Wow, I never knew dog grooming was so difficult! Props to all groomers out there.
Amanda B YOU'RE rude
Amanda B You’re* an* idiot*
No, it is that she starts to feel unsafe when she raises her voice, I also think that some one nicked her paw with the raise and now she is scared or it could sensitive ski
Sorry, I ment skin
Amanda B Says the one with multiple grammar errors in their comment. Hehe I’m not funny...
It could be nothing happened before with this dog, she just never had anyone take time to teach her that brushing and clipping won’t hurt.
kayBTR, then that is a good opportunity for the dog to figure it out. I do think her demeanor isn't very helpful .
My cats always act so good at my vets because they are just firm and calm. I have asked why they aren't so good for me and they say because they aren't afraid of me, guess that's good.
Agreed. Also experiences like this reinforces the behavior... Owner should work with the dog and get her used to being groomed and handled in the future
kayBTR I agree
There are better ways to teach a dog to accept grooming. This is scaring the dog and setting her up to be even more fearful and reactive in the future. It's not the groomer's job to work with her on this issue but her owners need to work on this issue or it's just going to get worse.
finally a common sense comment!
She is reacting as if shes been hurt at the groomers before
Mean dog???? She wasn't mean at all. Just very nervous and wired.
She would have gotten bitten like 8 times if it weren't for that muzzle
Oh goodness she’s so scared. Poor girl.
Awww that girl isnt mean! Shes petrified.....
She calmed right down at the end, didn't she? She suddenly realised "Hey, this feels better!"
Rachel M, I think it might have been more like Relief that this is finally over!
She was so very stressed. Bless her heart!
She needs someone who'll just take time with her, take it slow and easy. Helping her to feel that there's no rush and no reason to be scared.
This is the reason I’m learning how to groom my puppy.
Yeah.. I don’t want mine anxious she’s like 10 and still hates the sound of buzzing and me using scissors
That's a fearful/stressed dog having a physiological reaction, not a "mean" or "aggressive" dog. I noticed you have a lot of other videos with dogs labelled "aggressive" and they are all fearful/stressed.
Mmmmhmmm
I have a dog that has been matted and I didn’t even realize it or that it pulls in their skin. I could feel your anxiety and fear as well and I don’t blame you. I don’t think it helped to be talking to the camera instead of her. Like others have said she seemed relieved once the mats were of her legs especially. Great job. Maybe the dog could come and visit in a week just for some cuddling and a touch up. PAM
With her voice tone the dog must be thinking "another AGGRESSIVE groomer"....
just found your channel while researching how to groom my little buddy at home. As a veteran, I thank you for all you do to raise money for veterans and grooming their battle buddies. Wish you were in Utah
She was probably hurt during a grooming too. She sounds terrified! Great job Dede!
Better description how to groom a scared dog in pain from mats and long nails.
Whew I'm worn out!!
Me too! Wonderful to see the whole process and hopefully the owners follow the grooming/ walking recommendations so that the dog will relax more. So good to see someone care so much for animals.
lol ya me too
Me four!!! Lol. I just wanted to give the dog a warm bath with some calgon😂
If she get the job done and the owner return the dog will have trust and be familiar hopefully.
This dog is terrified she’s not mean.
You were getting to excited at the start and the dog was reflecting. Go in calm and try to use a softer voice.
Glitter Squeak pppppppppp
Glitter Squeak she wanted to bite the shit out of her.
And I agree with you. This groomer admitted she was stressed and "freaking out in her head." They can feel that! Oh, yes...they can!
Livinnpjs Yeah
I can see how that dog is panicking, panting and watching her whole body whilst she breaths. It is so distressing to me and I'm not even in the room.
She is clearly crying through being terrified. If she had have become mean it would have been due to how she had no reassurance or calming surroundings.
I don't believe the dog is being shown care or concern in any way, I understand there is a job to do, a huge part of an animal caring job is to 'care' for the animal. You could stroke her, talk to her calmly, friendly, reassuringly, this would help both her and you tremendously
Livinnpjs 9
It would probably help, if you were more calm and moved more slowly.
When she was doing the legs she honestly seemed aggressive. The dog was obviously so scared and she didn’t let her feel safe
My dog has severe anxiety so before his grooming appt, I give him anti-anxiety pills and it works everytime. He just sits there and have the groomers do their work.
The dog is anxious, and clearly doesn’t like grooming, but she isn’t mean. She is just scared.
wow, what a difference that was compared to another video I watched. the other person said DONT call them a good boy or girl, it only excites them, well you did and you clearly calmed them down, just a few soft words can make all the difference. That little dog was scared at first and you calmed them down, well done, the best groomer I have seen
If i have an anxious dog like her, I would learn to groom my own dog. It is difficult to do it yourself, but when your dog trust you, they are less anxious. Poor girl was crying the whole time.
She was good when you talked to her. Great job!
I know the feeling, girl! Good job👍👍
Vet said it’s litterly only ocd but it’s just weird...
my chi is like that with her front paws lol
On_drey_ahh they jest need lots of desencitation as puppies.
What a stupid annoying dog.Would of just left the stupid mutt matted
you were really great with her at the end with the face clipping. very helpful thanks :)
This groomer is very good.I love her video's.
I’m actually going to school for grooming now and I must say you did a amazing job, especially handling a difficult yorkie👏
Dogs aren't mean, humans are mean. Dogs respond instinctivelyly to fear and pain
Hyper Cherrie technically any creature can be mean
Hyper Cherrie explain that to my German shepherd before I taught him respect.
You’ve obviously NEVER worked with animals. So sit down and be quiet.
word
Music Games Animals always have a reason to their actions they're not just mean.
Animals don't know mortality and what's right or wrong. If a dog is "mean" they might be scared like this one or just showing dominance since they are herd (or pack) animals. That's not being mean that's just how they do.
Your
Using the wrong muzzle. The type your using restricts the breathing if used over a period of around 10 minutes. The type you should use is the basket type as it still allows for mouth to open to pant so you should be using that type for long periods of time. Ps if the dog can still open it's mouth then it too big or loose pps it's just what I've been taught
You’re so great! Good job!
This poor anxious pup probably slept for hours after this. Pup did better when she was petted and talked to nicely in the end.

I think she labeled the video as mean because that's how the dog was labeled, not because she thinks the dog is mean.
Wow Amazing 👌!! Best grommer I’ve seen so far
6:55 "they are fast, cats are really fast" that's a weird looking cat
You are amazing!!!! What a gift you have!!!
She seemed so much calmer after the bath.
I’m glad I found you channel I’ve been grooming 3 years
That dog was never mean it was just scared and whos here in 2020
Good job! She looks cute!
Love that you really help out your community! ps- I have the same clippers in green and I love them :3
prettykitty345 I take my CHOW to Petsmart and they always muzzle when cutting his nails.
are you still working at petsmart! i go to grooming school this month and am very excited
OMG poor baby :(
I immediately recognized that this Dog is suffering from Anxiety! You handled it like a PRO,KUDOS TO YOU! 👀👍🏼🥰
I'm crying with the dog
I'm laughing "petsmart turned her away" *add for petsmart plays*
Poor little girl.....she may have had some really bad experiences before this. 😔
Her nails were so long!!!! Poor baby. Dede, you’re amazing. Every video is an education
She reminds me of my Maultipoo. She hates the shaver. I think it’s the noise and vibration. Scissors, she is fine. This video was very helpful.
You are awesome! I don't think she's mean...she seems to have severe anxiety. You were so good at the end of the video when you were talking to her and trimming her face...she was trusting you.
Great Job you did with her.
I learned something today with your comments and advice.
Thank you
Thank you
🙏🏽
U did a great job. She was a good girl.
I have to go take a nap now but you’re the Master of greatness
What a sweetie pie dog! Loveeeee the little whimpers
This poor little thing needs CBD for dog anxiety.
Wow ... I'm so glad that you and david took the time to help the dog ....
Wow, my heart was pounding, I really thought you were going to show us a bite!
Wow. She looks great!!!
You have so much good vibe and patience to her!!
Gosh, I"m feeling the stress for poor little pup and the groomer too! Great job!
Hi Dee Dee. She is such a sweetie. Glad she has come to the best groomer now. Marie
This lady was kinda ruff to me but maybe that’s how you suppose to be 🤷🏻♀️ Maybe she should’ve comfort the dog 🐕 a lil more rub the doggy a little idk something
A groomer should NOT be rough. They should be gentle and calm and work to help the dog. Not make their panic attack worse.
All I can say is you got more patience than me. I love animals but I would literally flip out with this dog. I guess that’s why I’m not a groomer
What do you mean flip out? Yea, she’s great I have no patience with anxious dogs. I wonder if this lil girls still with us. She looks about 3-4 in the video and it’s almost a 7 tear old video.
Towards the end I am watching with one eye open....waiting for the SNAP,
You're awesome you did a great job with her!
"I didn't do it... I didn't do it..." Best part!!
She sounds so scared and terrified
I wanna hug her
She doesn't look like a mean dog to me.
Oooh.. the yelling "okah" I feel is most stressful..
Yes Dede!!! Its all about the owners responsiblity. They need to know that those dogs should be brushed daily and perhaps get help with her anxiety (biting)
Hmmm... i think the puppy is stress by the way she groom it..
