I have nothing negative to say here. Mom obviously loves her baby or she wouldn't be there putting the two of them through all of that to help him. We don't know her life so no one should be judging her or Dede. If Dede could help every dog in the world that needed help she would...lol. She is not purposely hurting that sweet baby. You can clearly see that her heart goes out to him. Yes, it makes us all feel a certain way watching this video but this is a temporary situation for the long term good of that little sweetheart and mom gets a lot of credit for pushing through and not quitting.
Dede's not hurting him ... at all. Mom is not hurting him ... at all. Baby desperately needs a haircut. Sooo badly!! The groomer(s) and/or vet(s) that hurt him, .... need to be Hurt themselves Baby is wiggling around sooo much, I was afraid he was going to fall offf the table !! That is my ONLY problem.. Dede's doing GREAT!! and that we can't see her doing baby's face !!! grrr... (:)) 👼🏼
I have 5 shih tzus. The parents and 3. Offsprings. All but one have the hair of the father. One was born with the hair of the maternal grandfather. He HATES getting groomed. I understand the mom so well... My groomer always shakes his head at me. I try I really do. But what this dog is doing here is what I go through every time I grab the brush. Sometimes giving up is easier. But I dont love him less. I just love my body parts more.
It's so good to see a video of Didi grooming a dog that has had a bad time with other groomers and is also educating the owner. This is why I love these videos. I learned sooo much here. Me and my adopted silky terrier have benefited greatly from Didis videos. Thank you
My heart hurts just knowing he doesnt understand that this is part of a healing process for both him and mama. However, I cant imagine letting my baby's fur get that bad. They depend on us!
Some people in the comments are overly sensitive. She isnt hurting the dog she's being careful n doing her best to help him. The dog has anxiety from previous groomers hurting him. Please relax.
you are amazing DeDe. I just recently adopted a Shitzu and brush her daily. I keep her hair short but make sure I groom her every day so she can stay acclimated to the brush. I play with her paws, tail and ears daily to avoid stress while at the groomers. She is such a good girl that I have not had any problems with her at all. I am the luckiest fur baby owner ever!!!! :)
Woah this dog is something else!!!! Good thing it's not aggressive as in biting... but geesh he won't stay still.. I think it's best to push and get what you can done because it'll only be worse. He is obviously traumatized by things from the past. It will be interesting to see if she keeps this up (pet parent) or whether you hardly see her again. For the dogs' sake I sure hope it improves 10 fold!!!
I had to mute this to watch (my Jackchi was getting upset, concerned for him). I’m happy this pet parent found you. This poor boy. But it has to be done so that next time and all the times after he gets to feel grooms without all this pain. I hope he adjusts afterwards, but we even see dogs that came to dede in a similar condition years ago who haven’t calmed down yet because of those previous traumatic grooms. At least now this guy has a fresh start. Good job mama for hanging in there.
My little rescue havanese makes something like that noise when he is sleeping sometimes, it nearly makes me cry to hear it I have to wake him up and hug him. You are a great mama lady, and thank you Dede for helping them!
I think it is awesome that you use the owner because you could tell when you went to check out his face, how much calmer he got when she came back to him. It was just slightly but he was pulling towards her when you got in front and quit pulling when she came back.
he did quite well compared to some dogs in some areas of his body he was ok and thats a start think he understood the removal off mats but feet think will be hard
Hi Dede, New to grooming my own dogs like many other people. Would it be possible to say or let us know what blade you are using to help give us some understanding of what to do? Thank you, Carol x
I like your stand we used A roll of paper towles to assist them in standing this dog is breaking your heart I know all groomers feel awful when we get pets like him great job on him by the way 🐾♥️🐾
Lol when you reached the neck my body knew so much what that felt like that I felt the sensation of hair in my nose and sneezed just from hearing the clipper 😂 The magic wonders of the body.
I can't decide if he sounds like he's laughing or if he sounds like a turkey. It's sad but you're doing what's best for the little guy. He seems to be doing pretty good even though you can tell he's scared.
Hi Dede, just a suggestion, you may edit out the pet owner's face by blurring if she do not wants to be in the recording. Can't see the part where you groom the dog face.
I can imagine the large pieces hanging are more painful than those attached in some spots how horrible for that poor little thing. It didn’t help that the owner grabbed the dogs fur in a tight fist full when you were trying to calm him. I think the owners should be fined for this neglect. Maybe high prices would be a help. If she can’t do it herself she need you to do it more regularly and never let this baby suffer through this anxiety again!
It truly hurts watching this video, Dede is doing her best making it less painlessly as possible for this dog, so much matted furs , its the owner to blame honestly, not the dog's or the groomers' fault, the owner should had brush it more often and keeping it her dog's well maintain, it would never ended to this state, I hope this owner will never neglect her dog's well being again so so sad :( As I have a cockpoo too and we have him groom every 9 to 10 weeks and brushed daily :)
I wonder if after you shaved a certain section if you lay a warm towel on the area like in barber shops if that would give him some distraction from what you are working on next. Or a weighted blanket. Like 3 lbs?
Criimy that poor dog! We just bite the bullet and my husband and I have our vet tech do s trim of our cat and trim his claws at the same time. Ivan has had major panic attacks regarding his carrier and we'd never do it any other way. It is not that much $$$.
Where’s my bed and Vodka, 😬🤪😺I am exhausted watching this baby. You deserve a Medal and Trophy Dede🏆 AND a knighthood, so ....Rise Lady Dede you are now knighted 👸🏻🌹 please dont thank me 😉. Cheryl from UK xxxxxx
Holding the dogs leg the way you are is actually extremely uncomfortable, and if its an older dog then its downright painful! If their laying down on their side then its a good position to open the leg sideways enough to mimic the gap they have while standing, but pulling it that hard while standing is just going to set them off.
i wonder if he keeps calmer if you plug his ears so he doesnt hear the clippers , he didnt minded the scissors but as soom as the clippers started buzzing he whent hyper again
I just remembered something, they make these sort of jackets that help with a dogs fear or anxiety like for thinder storms and things like that, idk if they really work but maybe it would be worth a try with dogs like this while your just shaving down the legs, tail and head just a suggestion cuse I can see how hard this is bless your heart Dede.
I’m so pissed. I took my cat yesterday to a groomer in Austin to get a simple bath & have a few mats removed around the chin and upper chest area, nothing major....well the groomer nicked one of her nipples! It was bleeding. I’ve been crying about it. What’s done is done! I took her immediately to my vet. The vet said to keep it clean and it will heal, but the nipple is half mutilated. It cost a total of $200 for a simple grooming & vet bills. I am furious. That groomer was negligent and should have not done that.... she was barely matted!!!!!!! I will never ever take my cats to a groomer again after this experience. I have lost all trust.
I have enjoyed 1 and 2 video this woman should have came sooner what kinda of job was she doing. Dog has matts everywhere. Lord dog need training. De De your so patient with this client.
The way this idiot is grabbing her hair and using that to try and get her to stand up literally just pissed me off so bad. I was watching this because I love your work I’m sorry but I’m less that 5 mins in and I’m turning this off. Hopefully she’ll never do this again. She more than likely has multiple dogs in the same condition...
You’d be surprised at how many people assume that because they have a dog that goes to the groomers, that it means they don’t have to brush their dogs at all, especially doodles and shih tuz mixes
Six groomers one vet pain. NOT from Dede obviously. Never seen her hurt any dog as frustrating as an appointment can be. She’s helping she knows she been doing this how long? Right
When I see this dog so excited and frightened by the shaving session, could we not give it a light relaxant to facilitate this stage of grooming? It would be good not to traumatize the dog and facilitate the work of the groomer.
I dont know if its the same with dogs my hubs was a horse shoer and found that sedated horses were still upset and never learned. If he briefly restrained the horse (like a hobble) to show it he wasnt hurting, then it would calm down and finish without restraint. He re-habbed numerous horses that were terrified, dangerous, sedated, or just neglected.
I would agree except for the fact that this dog is obviously going to need to be on a regular grooming schedule and it needs to learn that grooming will not hurt it. It is hard to watch the poor little innocent feeling such distress. But Doggie is in the best hands with Dede.
A10TOES This poor dog has been to a vet to be groomed plus four or five other groomers, one of which nicked him somewhere in the back end before. I think that’s why his mom doesn’t want that experience again and asked Dede if she could stay an be with him 🙏🏻
Absolutely zero idea how to talk to and handle a dog. Talking in long sentences with directions to the dog was absolutely ridiculous. You just added to his anxiety 😡
Negligent owner caused the suffering, put the blame where it belongs and that dog should have been sedated, owner too cheap to do that also. This video title is disappointing.
No, the groomer who nicked him and hurt him caused him to be anxious while being groomed. She has taken him to other groomers before DeDe who didnt help her. Watch part one for the story on how he got this way.
It's very clear that Dede's focus with this groom is on the dog, the parent, and getting it done, rather than making sure the RUclips audience can see every inch of the dog at all times - grooming is her day job, not being a camera(wo)man.
Vet Tech here. Why do you want to over medicate an animal?? Medications come with risks. It's an hour of stess, even though he's perfectly safe, for weeks of comfort. She's doing a great job. It takes time to get a dog comfortable but this had to be done.
I watch all of your videos but this one is heartbreaking, that dog should have been given something to calm him down, it was so cruel I had to turn you of. If anyone wants to own a dog they should be willing to look after it and to me, this is sheer neglect and this little dog is suffering....not good DeDe
Elizabeth Herron the one to blame for neglect is the parent who let their poor dogs hair get so matted. Now THATS neglect. Could you live with your hair matted like that?? Throughout your whole body?? Dede is trying to help the dog live a more comfortable life. She isn’t hurting him physically. And for you to think that she should give the dog some kind of drug to calm him down is absurd.
I have nothing negative to say here. Mom obviously loves her baby or she wouldn't be there putting the two of them through all of that to help him. As always Dede tysm for helping him and sharing the video with us
Dede, you did good. I commend you for helping dogs like this.
Oh and the owner is doing awesome! You can tell she wants to love on him and wants it to stop but she knows he needs it!
If the owner loved her dog all that much she would not
have allowed him to become so matted in the first place.
@@borwin98 she said at the beginning she recently got the dog, so probably a rescue dog

It’s so easy to lose the trust of a doggo when he’s been through trauma like that. I don’t blame the owner here.
He seems to only get super stressed when you get near his feet. He seems fine in the body areas.
What a sweet dog. I'm glad he got this kind of grooming. Poor guy. It's hard to brush dogs with curly and thick hair.
He did better with his face getting done then his feet and legs. Such a good pup though he really tried bet he feels so much better.
DeDe you are doing great. At least he is not a biter. I sure mom keeps the brushing up. I can’t wait to see the finished result . 👍👍❤️❤️🙏🏻
awww I love him. Hopefully he feels better after he realises he's all ok.
Mom, “your such a good boy” once in awhile would go a long way of calming your dog, n by the way, he’s not ok not on any level.

Those noises usually mean that they have an exciting dream -hunting or whatever - so waking them up does not do them a favour.

Top of fur wasn't matted. Skin level was. You can tell by how the fur comes off
please adjust the camera

What happened to part 3. You uploaded a different video
you need to have a vet. give him meds. to calm him before you groom him..no dog should have to go thru this . it is not the dogs fault he is like this

meds do more damage in the long run. he has to be desensitized.

Give the poor pup a Valium, damn
the dog needs to be desensitized. medicating for every grooming would do more harm than good

What about a bit of a sedative? Poor baby!!!
every couple weeks for the rest of his life? no, thats so fucking dangerous. he needs to be desensitized.
If his medication is being monitored by a vet, you can desensitize a dog while on meds
You know dogs like that are not worth grooming
It's not the dog's fault.
I use 2 grooming loops one on back area .
Just slap the dog down and let him who is the boss
Someone should slap you down. I hope you don"t have any animals in your care.
