    Excellent grooming techniques. You are gentle and very thorough. She is so well behaved. I was lucky enough to have a Yorkie that was very well behaved. The groomers absolutely loved him and always told me, he was their best behaved dog. My baby passed away last year in May. He was 12 1/2. I miss him so much! Watching this video, felt like I was seeing him again. 😢

    The person in the video is very patient and kind to the puppy! Very professional .

      had a maltese for 15 years and loved it to death.2 years before he passed we got a puppy yorkie maltese mix(only 25% maltese) she was his his partner in crime. id say yorkies are a bit more clingy but over all theyre both sweethearts perfect for any home easy to potty train and the lick attacks when you get home are all the same.

      By total chance I saw this post of yours, today no less….we had to have our 12 yo Boxador euthanized💔🙏💔 But we also have a, now, 2 1/2 yo Yorkie-Ruby Pearl Elizabeth lol; they get real smart and confident about 2 years👍 till be patient, they are kinda sensitive and so wanting to please! You will NOT end of regretting this breed! I’ve owned a lot of dogs, my father was a breeder, trainer, dog shows…seen many many dogs!!!

      My groomer retired about 1 1/2 years ago. I have tried three different groomers since and my Bichon Frise and my Yorkie look like street dogs. I went to grooming school aprox. 40 years ago so I have been replacing all my grooming tools so I can just do them at home. I would say this little Yorkie had 5 mats in her when she was clipping. Be SURE to not clip until you can run a fine tooth comb through your entire dog with no hang ups. Trying to clip with a comb on through mats is very painful and can break your comb or guard, which ever you choose to call it. You can do this though. Just keep looking at pictures and watching videos.

    Thank you for the best video I have seen/found on grooming a Yorkie with the puppy cut. If I did not know better I would have thought you were grooming my baby. :-). The coloring is exactly the same. I cut my dogs hair and watching this i see what I was doing wrong…next time I will comb the hair against the way it lays. I enjoyed your calm explanations and especially that you could film this in a half hour…..all the other videos I have seen are 2-3 hrs long and a lot of chatter about how great they (the groomer) are and how bad the owners are. Thank you!!!

    This was a very nice video and I learned a lot. Many thanks!!! You have a great way with dogs.
    One thing to point out... Yorkies and some toy breeds have luxating patella issues or joint issues. When you hold the leg away from body, it hurts. Try to pull leg straight back without moving thigh away from body. That will hurt less. Easy to mistake this discomfort as nervousness, but the dog is uncomfortable. I work with rescued dogs and noticed this about all dogs big and small.
    Love your shears. I desperately need new shears and wonder if you can recommend some good ones for small breeds - poodles, Maltese, Yorkies mostly. I also need small clippers. I'm using Wahl Bravmini, and not happy about the constant jamming issues and very weak battery life on them. Its a toy basically but I don't see other choices for small face and paw trimming. I have an A5 Andis AGC II but it tends to cut skin easily, and too big and aggressive for face. How often do you change drive shaft on the AGC?
    Know a good place to sharpen shears? I badly need info. Currently lost my tech day job and relying on other side income.

    I have a purebred teacup Yorkie and she is the sweetest little thing going.She is so lovable and kids are her all time favourite,she goes nuts around them and if she can give people kisses then she is happy & her kisses are not sloppy at all.She is four years old and still uses puppy pads.I do have to say she is a real barker though. Now for the grooming part, for some reason she is terrified of the clippers and I even bought the quietest ones I could get,she wouldn't even let me near her. She was 7 weeks old when I got her and she had never been around clippers before I got her,so what can I do?I took her to a proper groomer this spring and she was the same with them,she will try to bite whatever you have in your hands,she doesn't want to bite the person just what you are using on her & I did warn the groomer about that issue & and she was the same with them.Anything I can do differently? • @AllNyteLova
      @AllNyteLova 3 года назад +7

      135$ for three dogs? That’s a steal. Please don’t disrespect the art and dedication that is pet grooming. True, you can learn to groom from home and do a good job but most owners don’t have the time or patience to do so. All pricing reflects not only the skill of the groomer but also maintenance and fees for running a business.

    • @janetaylorparris
      @janetaylorparris Год назад +1

      @@AllNyteLova Well said! We’ve brought our teacup Yorkie to groomers everywhere, from upscale Manhattan to suburban Boston to rural NH. I would never pay less than $80, and I tip generously as well. Skilled, patient pet groomers are wonderful people who deserve competitive, fair compensation and our utmost respect. And the dogs who enrich our lives every day, every hour, deserve a safe, clean, gentle experience. Watching these videos, I’m overwhelmed by the devotion involved. Let’s value the groomers who provide this!

    My Yorkie has 5 times the thickness of this puppy and will not sit still for anything. I’ve taken him to Petsmart already and they couldn’t even groom him at 4 months old 😢. I’ve made an appointment at Petco, hopefully they can help. I’ve already taken off most of the thickness so that should help. My 16 year old was so much easier, unfortunately he passed away in December 😢. I miss him so much.

    I have a 12.5 year old Morkie who has a heart murmur. He also has a ruptured ligament on his back left leg which can’t be fixed because of the murmur. He’s always been groomed at a groomers but the last groom left him completely exhausted and he wasn’t himself for days after. I asked the groomer if they could just do his face and I would handle the rest and they said NO….🥺🥺🥺. I feel like taking him in now is risking his life and my vet agrees. I’m going to have to try and groom him myself but I have zero experience. Could you please recommend some clippers? I’m not willing to risk his life by taking him to a groomer. I’m very stressed about it all. His hair on his face grows too much to just leave it. Please recommend some clippers??!

    This is a great video. I love our groomer and she’s getting up in age. I don’t know who else I would consider taking my yorkies to, but I learned a lot. I would love to be able to just clean up around their eyes, ears, pads, and sanitary area sometimes between visits to the groomer. I just don’t know if I want to get the table and all for that. I will have to decide. I don’t have a lot of storage area in the house we are currently in until we build and hopefully that will be fairly soon.

    I love my little dude but my god is he a pain to groom. He is fine in the tub but cutting his hair and his nails is torture. He's fine for a minute or so but if I can't finish in that time he's done. I've resorted to trying to cut his hair while he is in the tub since that's the only time he's let me do it and I have done such a terrible job. For his nails he likes to sleep with his legs pointed in the air so I've been doing 1 or 2 nails a night while he's sleeping. I normally take him to the groomer but since the pandemic there's not many available.
    Also, anyone out there with a Yorkie who is a picky eater? My dude picks at his Royal Canin Yorkie brand dry dog food (from Chewy) throughout the day and eats 2-3 cans of chicken or turkey Gerber baby food. I also bought a beef jerky maker because he loves jerky, at least I can pick what I put in it when I make it myself.

      Oh my god! My dog is such a picky eater as well. I am giving him the royal canin fry food for yorkies and now I am starting to think that it might be tasting bad for him. Have you tried any other brand? If so I would like to know how it went! Seems our furry friends have the same taste in food haha

    I've had my yorkie for 5 weeks. My best friend of over 40 years was dying of cancer so I took the little dog, Ellie, home with me so she wouldn't worry about a home for her. My friend passed 2 weeks to the day after that. Didn't mean to go on, just sad. My first yorkie. I have 6 other dogs ranging in size from over 160 lbs to 5 lbs. Ellie is used to going to the groomer but I thought I would try to do it at home as obviously money is a bit tight. My question is, how to keep them still without a leash like in the video so both hands can be free?

      I’m sorry for your loss. It’s lovely your friend knew the dog would be safe with you. I cut my dog’s hair over several sessions because I haven’t got all the gear. She is happy to sit for 20 minutes but needs a break after that. So I do the back and legs one day, the head and tail the next.

    This is good info. I think the pup would have done better with a quieter grooming tool.

    Hi there! Thanks for this.
    In the video it says "1 comb and half comb" where the half is longer. When I look online I see "#1 comb 1/8 in" and "#1/2 comb 1/16in", both of which appear to be much smaller than the ones in the video, and where the half comb is shorter than the 1 comb. I was wondering if you could clarify the comb sizes you are using in this video?

      Are you looking at #1 as a 1/2" and #1/2 as a 5/8"?
      That would be a #4 and #5 in my wahl plastic sizes.
      Any guidance is appreciated

      Yes. Since we shot this video the comb naming has changed and we’re trying to shoot a more updated video. 1/2 inch and 5/8 inch is correct.

    If I wanted to groom the entire body just a bit shorter, what would be the next comb down to use? You use the comb on a 30 blade, right? Thanks

      Use the 30 blade under the comb. We used the 1 comb on the body, so you could go down to an 0 comb if you wanted shorter.

    I followed this video step by step and did great until I got to the face. My Yorkies hair was super long and it doesn’t really show how to shape the face when the hair is overgrown. Other than that I thought it was a good video.

    Thank you very much for the videos! very informative!!! Would you recommend to use a clipper vac for this cut?

      Clipper vacs are pretty expensive and just a personal preference of the groomer.
