- You all kept asking so in this video I’m finally going over whether or not Superman villains would be scary in real life. It’s not the same kind of scary as Batman or Spider-Man villains but they definitely hold their own. I don’t think I would be comfortable in a world where they existed to be honest. But I guess that goes from the super villains I don’t know. Regardless, thank you for watching. It means a lot that so many of you have stuck around. I’m super excited at the strike is over and I can get back to talking about movies. So be on the lookout for more of that. You all are awesome.

Saying that they are 'terrorists' is stupidly understated because according to Google what most of them are is actually "omnicidal maniacs". Which is the term for someone who wants to just destroy everything. So it's cute that you tried but you're not even close to what it actually is.

For the question about Superman being muscular, he’s muscular for the same reason he has all his powers, his cells absorb the radiation of the Sun, and yes it sounds silly.
BUT in the past he simply just had a Super-gym in his fortress, which is arguably sillier
I've always wondered how Clark built up so much muscle over the years since he never usually goes to the gym, or maybe he does, and I haven't read about it or something? I know he was raised as a farm boy, so I can imagine working with his hands would've helped. I mean even if he wasn't muscular Superman would still be powerful, even if he was skinny like in the Flashpoint timeline
I usually thought that he was muscular because he was just doing a lot of heavy labor all the time (fighting, moving massive objects and just helping out)

Superman has one of the most underrated rosters of villains if you ask me, as so many of them are legitimate threats and challenge Superman's morals and beliefs in ways people don't realise, and yeah, so many of Superman's villains would legitimately be terrifying.

The video would be short with one word: yes. Reverse flash is a nightmare and except the silly ones, they all are.
Obviously reverse flash is scary, but the Rogues can be scary too, Captain Cold can freeze things at absolute 0, Weather Wizard could cause a devastating hurricane, Mirror Master is literally that thing you see in the mirror in the middle of the night but when you look back it's gone, Captain Boomerang can... umm..., Heat Wave can shoot fire so hot it can melt walls. However the Rogues usually have a no kill rule, so that might dock them scary points.
You should've tackled characters like Parasite or Livewire, also that Krptonite robot man.
Also, it's so funny how Superman is such a pure character yet his villains are pure terror

Superman's enemies are seriously underrated. They are ALL absolutely dangerous, and even the weakest among them are still dangerous. Even Toyman has shown he is no joke and can be a hassle for other superheroes and villains. The Superman villains are kind of the elite force due to fighting, such as a powerful character. It's why most of them tend to be JL supervillains, too. Lex Luthor, Braniac, Doomsday, and of course Darkseid have given the JL some of their hardest days.
Edit: Let's not forget Zod, Ursa, and Non. These trio are practically Kryptonian fascists.

I think the 3 top Superman villains are very interesting and could easily be a fascinating analogy and metaphor for problems we face on the real world. Superman is absolutely human, all good and represents hope. Brainiac represents the danger of technology and knowledge without morals and compassion. Luthor is the smartest human being ever and he represents all the worst parts of human life. Envy, arrogance, corruption, greed. And Darkseid is the God of Darkness and Death whereas Clark is the God of Hope. The ultimate enemy
This feels very flimsy and trite, there is a lack of differentiation between luthor and brainiac, they could just be smart bald guys who get pushed into the corner by superman for all i care
Don't even get me started on Darkseid being "le god of evil", WHOLESOMEseid is very real and DC has been antagonizing xer for too long

Darkseid would not only crush me into a flat tin can like you would with an empty coke can, but he would then proceed to use one of his many omega beam variations to kill me in an infinite number of ways, each more horrible than the last. So yeah
Darkseid is actually like 10 times worse then “killing everyone” cause he would absolutely kill you sure, but as the God of Tyranny if he can remove your free will and ability to think for yourself he’d do that. He’s a dictator to the nTH degree, but he’s also xenophobic to all other living things so that not only are you suffering a fate worse than death you also are working a pointless task “For Darkseid” with no chance for the sweet releases of death
Would flash villains be scary?
Honestly, even though Im a fan of Flash's rogues gallery, I do have to say that 30% of his villains would legitimately be terrifying at first glance, like Reverse Flash, Red Death, Gorilla Grodd, Mirror Master, etc... In contrast, most of the rest of his villains are just people in costumes with advanced technology and expertise to counter the Flash's powers.
Gorilla Grodd would definitely be terrifying. Hes a super intelligent telepathic gorilla with a city of advanced technology at his disposal and wants to wipe out the human race.
Similar to what others have said about Superman being muscular, it’s because of how his body metabolizes sunlight. But in the John Byrne Man of Steel run, there is a really funny moment when we see into Clark’s apartment and he has a home gym. He states that the reason he has it is so that people wouldn’t question how he has such an amazing physique. But when Lois comes over she comments to him that she’s shocked that he can keep his physique with the weights he has because they weigh less than what she uses. Clark then has a mini panic attack and realizes that he doesn’t even have a proper perspective on what people find difficult to lift.
In some spin offs such as All Star Superman, we see that he can go to labs to test his strength and presumably work out with specialized equipment. It’s not always explained how this equipment works, but some assume magnetic force or just simple sci-fi bs.

That Superman muscular rant has kept me up at night since I was like 5, the official reason is because that’s the way people expect him to look and it makes him look more intimidating so that’s how artists draw him. There isn’t really an in canon reason for why he looks the way he does besides the usual explanation about sun radiation mambo jumbo bs that doesn’t really explain anything. I always that Superman should have a leaner build, he doesn’t need to be super skinny but he shouldn’t look like a casual bodybuilder at the same time. Christopher Reeves was always my ideal body size for Superman. He’s tall imposing, fit but not jacked, even though Christopher Reeves actually put on a lot muscle for the role which was considered unusual for actors to really do. I just feel that he looked the most realistic as to how Superman should look, he has a more natural body type for a fit man, which would make sense for the amount of physical activity Superman does, he would have built muscle naturally over time. But he would not usually exert enough energy to build a body like Arnold and maintain it regularly.

If I lived in the same universe as Superman, I would be scared of his villains, and the only thing that would tranquilize me would be the presence of Superman. Lex Luthor, Brainiac and Mongul alone would be already enough to make me really worried. Then we could make things even worse with Mr. Mxptlk, a 3D living cartoon in a world where normal people look like photorealistic people, so he would already look strange. But the worst part would be his astonishing powers to warp reality. Surreal horror in potential! Superman would be indispensable.
Superman is buff because he can train under a red sun location making him just a normal person. He is also one of the canonically the least buff superheroes just the artist likes to make him look buff.
So superman has things that way as mutch as the sun and stuff so he can work out. But also the yellow sun makes him the peak performance.
Scariest one for me would be parasite cause Just imagine trying to sleep at night and you see a horrific face that looks like it’s made of purple wrinkled worm like skin with warts and it looks like a human body turned inside out jump and screech into your face and then proceed to drain you of your life force and the last thing you will see before you die is it looking at you in the eyes

Superman's super strenght only kicks in later in his life in some continuities.

The muscle thing can be explained by he got his powers as a child, and when they first started, yeah he could lift a car and stuff but unless he does that consistently he doesn't get stronger. It's why when he starts he can lift cars or hold up buildings but after a lot of experience as superman he can move earth and hold a book with infinite pages
this is kinda my interpretation for the superman question. Superman did not develop powers until he was a teenager (/let's say 16), and he's a farm kid. So if he was doing chores since he was a kid, he'd undoubtedly be buff. However, now there's the question "well what about after superman developed powers?" my answer is dumb and without any evidence, it's just a headcanon, but after he gained his abilities, one of his abilities is never being sick (tell me when was the last time you saw superman with the flu, your AVERAGE HUMAN FLU, NOT SOME ALIEN VIRUS), therefore being always healthy, so it's as if time stopped with teen superman's health state and continued being buff as the default for healthiness.
