Raven guard is the only correct colour for the sniper, they are the ambush specialists of the legions, the assult and vanguard are also classes the raven guard use heavily
@EravinVT the raven guard, actually use a variant of normal power armour that has been designed specifically to reduce the amount of noise they make when moving. I do have to agree with Eravin's assessment of snipers being Raven Guard. Raven Guard are known for being very capable at long range and assassinating the important targets, so it unironically fits them.
@@BenLJudy Eh... The majority of loyalist chapters have scout Marines as their lowest ranking combatants, which are generally trained with sniper weapons. Basically any chapter would work, with a few exceptions such as Dorn's angry boys and the Space Corgis. Raven Guard are best known for the fighting style of their Primarch, Corvus Corax. They make use of jump packs and power claws; Famously, they're so stealthy, they can sneak up into melee to render swift death to entire platoons of enemies before an alarm is raised. Sniper rifles, if anything, would be weapons for the least skilled of their chapter.
@@Necroes Counterpoint: Nykona Sharrowkyn, an absolute legend among the Raven Guard, was given a mission to assassinate Fulgrim and selected sniping, not *glorious* melee combat. Sharrowkyn was most definitely not just some Scout Marine at the time. That, and with the advent of the Primaris reorganizations going on in the Era Indomitus, a lot of emphasis has been placced on ranged squads, such as Eliminator Squads, that fit the stealthy and fast assassin archetype of the Raven Guard even though they do things from range. Sure, it's not Corax's lightning claw style, but the Imperial Fists are known for using bolters heavily and yet Dorn's most famous fight is removing Alpharius with a chainsword. Every primarch is remembered for their badass melee because melee is better for telling the story of a character dynamic.
@@BenLJudy Yes, because there is no obvious reason any rational entity-let alone a super soldier with nearly perfect tactical training and countless hours of combat experience-would choose to engage a Primarch at range. Nearly all Marines know how to use a sniper rifle because it's the first weapon they ever take into combat with them, as a scout. Literally any marine could have taken that shot against Fulgrim. You'd choose the legend of a stealth chapter not for his ability to land the shot, but the capacity to exit should the shot fail. That, and the ability to survive should the worst happen.
@@EravinVT You'd think that would have been a no-brainer for stealth players, yah know? But no, we get a knife... a really NICE knife, but nothing the Mechanicus would ever approve of lol
I find the 50% skullcrusher range on the knife perk in the top tree early on really excellent, and really helps you when swarmed not only kill more terminids, but pushes them away and has a higher chance to trigger a bullet counter. Also the shoulder charge ability replacement feels sort of bad, the normal dash attach has a lot of range and stagger.
Shoulder has the same stagger with less time you’re being hit before the same bullet strike opportunity so it’s a direct upgrade, shadow stab removes your quickest way to get back into a bullet strike loop in the form of 1 heavy strike 1 heavy strike forever
Alright question for you. Does the perfect counter -> counter headshot damage depend on the damage value of your bolt pistol? If so, is secondary weapon damage a priority over things like fire rate or ammo capacity?
It is based off your bolt pistol and perks on the pistol like retaliation increase it, I still prefer the accuracy pistol as a sniper due to a missed headshot due to spread is a bigger dps loss then the fire power point, and it’s common to use your pistol to finish off downed enemies you just knocked with the rifle to save ammo if your team isn’t going to make the execution
