Biggest issue for me is that a lot of these classes and their weapons don’t work right out of the box, but the ones that do are literally class defining.
Basically all the bolt weapons feel trashy until you get to the higher tiers or get the pierce mastery. It takes them from mediocre assault weapons to their actual design of rocket powered grenade launchers.
@BuckRodgers3 but it also requires way too much effort and requires that you play tier 3 and more realistically tier 4 upgrade tokens before they are "just okay". Weapon balance needs to be a major upgrade for SM2. Right now it feels like HD2 feels and it was just released.
@@BuckRodgers3 I don't know. The Bolt Rifle with Grenade Launcher feels good but that's because of the Grenade. Even at Relic tier the bolt weapons just feel anemic compared to the Melta or even the plasma.
I've maxed out assault heavy tactical and now working on sniper and I can say max out the weapons that are class specific like Las sniper rifle it can crowd clear I took out a group before my teammates could make it to them max out the thunderhammer I literally kill majors with a unpowerd charge attack because I can slam twice and I got 15% more damage to charge Max out plasma incendiary I literally parry a major and they get scanned and I use a charge shot it puts them in the red and I can switch to my second and kill it to get all my ammo back The trick to this game is u gotta know how to build your character I don't jump from character to character leveling them up theres to many play styles to master so I take my time one one to get a feel of there and my play style and I prefer parrying everything so ive learned to do it with a balanced weapon so when im using a fencing one i get it right every time i can be a sniper taking on that boss from tge first mission and parry his swings and dodge through his charge getting gun strikes and snipping his head because I've took the time to understand a character u have to be experienced in how that character works just because your at lvl 25 with a character does not mean u know how to play with it I've carried so many games off experience alone like literally I was a lvl 8 sniper on ruthless trying to lvl up the Las and I don't have that much ammo so I'm intentionally lowering my health for ammo but I know how to parry so why am I taking out the whole swarm and a licore and the lvl 25 heavy and lvl 22 bulwark dead I don't even use my cameo except for bosses because I noticed everyone turn and attack my teammates I can tell by how they talk about the classes there builds can use some improvements here or there especially with assault that class taught me how to parry
@@kristatum6688 This, 100%. A good sniper is a force. And like you said, with full talents a sniper can clear crowds somewhat well with the Las Fusil and have good ammo economy doing it.
Damage isn't the problem - survival is. Assault has absolutely no answer to ranged attack and no way to regain contested health fast enough. Jump pack does absolutely nothing to mitigate this, even if you disengage to a distance, the animation speed alone will kill you off. Heavy has shield, sniper goes invis, vanguard gapcloses and has infinite sustain, tactical is an all-rounder, and bulwark can just block. But, assault? Nothing.
I don't think assault is that bad. With the right perks, one slam brings about any majoris very close to execution range on ruthless. +50% gun strike damage makes clearing majorises in a pack very easy, and if you dodge roll backwards, you can pretty safely do a double aftershock with the hammer, which clears a lot of ads quickly. The main issue is when there's like 10 ranged majorises as you simply don't have the mobility to get them all, ironically. You need to have the class close to maxed though, and that's where I feel a lot of people's perception of the class as weak comes from. I'd say they're about on par with heavy, if only because of the +50% gunstrike being absolutely goated.
Sniper ammo economy isn't as terrible as many think, of course there's the 20 perk to refund Las ammo, but also for the bolt sniper the first Relic perk that grants 50% of shots landed upon reload as ammo, and that isn't just for the sniper but also the bolt pistol, as landing all 12 shots with the pistol will grant you a full mag to your sniper, which is fantastic for staying in longer fights (That and how all bolt weapons have some level of innate piercing)
True, but for that you first have to level up your class relatively high and get the Bolt Sniper to Relic Tier. Before that, playing Sniper is just a horrible experience. Too much cooldown on your invisibility to avoid horde and no ammo. Of course this video is about late game but this also shows a huge balancing issue when it comes to class and weapon perks, where some are utterly useless and other perks are a must have.
@@DevlVergil I never had issues with invisibility. You don't need to use the entire energy at once for that skill. Also later headshots restore the cooldown too. But yeah, sniper is very slow at the beginning.
@DevlVergil I mean, that's somewhat of an issue for all the classes, it's just sniper has it bad where the rough ammo economy is something that doesn't get adressed until really late into leveling, being locked behind higher class levels or relic tier perks, whilst most others start to come online around the mid level range
@@SilidirianThe sniper needs those limitations in the beginning because once you max it out it is disgusting. With good teammates I’ll drop 20k damage, with bad teammates I’ve laid down 40k in a match. I can solo Ruthless on sniper and have been carrying dudes to get their first relic data. Anyone who sees this comment feel free to hit me up for a carry, I’ll get you at least 1 relic data, bring a friend if you want, any class, any level.
My thoughts on heavy is, that you will never run out of HP using the multi-melta. Surrounded by multiple Majoris is not a problem, your shotgun has wide spread and knockback property. The multi-melta is actually not for clearing the Minoris, it's for the Majoris and Extremist. Clearing trashmob sole purpose is just to create a path for you to walk, and heavy only issue is lack of melee. I've been spamming solo ruthless with heavy from below lv15, and parrying with heavy is not hard when you're used to it, just don't stuck at stance all the time (do a quick scope when needed), there's even a perk that increases your dmg when your Iron Halo is on CD. I think heavy is the only class that benefits both from when using ability and on cooldown. Just learn how to position yourself and that's it.
If you grab the perk tree perk for the malta that refunds 1 shot anytime you kill 5 or more enemies it's a great way to have efficiency when dealing with hoards and not having to worry about ammo economy.
@@yobro1196 Tactical gets a Plasma gun too that's way better as it has no drop, plus you have infinite ammo on Tactical using the Finisher on Elite or higher every 30 seconds (with pistol equipped)
Assault changes needed: 1.) big buffs to range damage reduction (their weaker area) & buff to damage reduction versus melee (they have no choice but to be a melee class to be effective) 2.) better HP recovery needs to be added to this class, no questions asked. It makes zero sense for ranged classes like Tactical to have this ability, but not a melee. 3.) thunderhammer needs a buff to damage all across each variant to make up for its much slower speed and recovery on being capable of parrying. 4.) Rework Team utility perks and skills. If they really fixed this class survivability, I’d love some sort of ‘taunting’ ability to really make them a tanky class that they deserve to be
Dude Bulwark is the second worst class, Assault is the worst. Tactical is clearly the best, Heavy is 2nd, Sniper and Vanguard are pretty close but so different things. Sniper provides massive damage at range and clutch potential with invis, while Vanguard can provide Cooldown reduction for the entire team on Takedowns which is huge. Melee is this game is pretty trash, the ranged weapons far outpace any melee build. Anyone who says anything else has no clue about anything.
It kinda depends. Against xenos, bulwark can hard carry the team, even on high difficulties. Against chaos, it is one of the worst. There’s nothing in between. It needs to be rebalanced.
Assault simply needs some sort of passive that helps it sustain itself during melee combat. Not being knockbacked taking a heavy hit sounds nice but the issue is that you can't even afford to take a heavy hit to begin with.
Exactly, so many perks are like "hey, if you take a massive hit that does 70% of your HP you won't get knocked on your as!" Thanks a lot devs, I'll be very happy about that as I watch my HP disappear. Anything that starts with "if you get hit..." is bad. Things that help you avoid getting hit are good.
My main has been the Sniper, I tend to play it really aggressively and love using the combat knife and pistol in tandem with the las fusil, I definitely agree having a bulwark on my team is always great, it lets me be much more agressive and clear the majoris/extremis in dueling as well as sniping. This was a cool style of video with you talking with someone else, really enjoy your stuff!
I like that you brought someone else to discuss and differentiate in this conversation. Makes it allot more enticing to watch differing opinions in a game I love
AS OF RIGHT NOW Tactical and Heavy S (melta rifle/grenade launcher/ survivability/damage+ perks + team buffs) Sniper and Vanguard A (Boss damage, elite damage, just misses out on S because horde clear is possible with radius on Las Fusil on sniper but not as optimal as melta like on Vanguard, however Vanguards ability in pve is minimally effective for the most part whereas Sniper bonus damage on leaving invis is crazy) Bulwark B (Great team buffs and can clutch potential but not as aggressive as other classes and misses out on damage) Assault C Poor survivability compared to other classes, weapons need a damage buff, particularly the hammer, jet pack needs another charge and boost dodges should take half a charge not an entire charge Maxed out all classes, 135 hours played and farm regularly on ruthless to help people . This is just my informed opinion but I think generally all classes are more than useful when paired together with the worst being assault which I think needs tuned up a bit.
@cathode6252 Asaault is still somewhat viable IMHO. But if you want to minmax, I'd say Vanguard is closest. Aggressive and melee focused. Chainsword would get you closer buy it does diminish the point of grappling an elite and carving through them with the knife.
@@cathode6252 it is viable, you just really have to be Conservative with your thruster pack and you essentially have to have the class maxed out... also be careful when launching into a group of majoris and large hores, you need to be a bit more decisive compared to other classes and watch your survivability but so long as you have decent teammates you can definitely make it work
@@marcushazlewood7283 I actually run Knife on my Vanguard. Melta melts everything small and then I can 1v1 the big enemies with it. Unlike Sniper, who desperately wants a chainsword, Vanguard is very happy with Combat Knife.
The thing when using heavy bolter on Heavy is that you have to make sure you are scoring headshots. I noticed throughout the segment (29:33 for example) where you are consistenly aiming for center mass. You are losing a lot of damage when doing that.
Sniper with highest damage output melts majoris in 1 shot through execution using camo break strat (unless it's warrior class or terminator). Plus, if you're good you can hip fire with las and get 1 ammo back for every collateral (2 kills min per 1 shot) against mobs. If you're bad it's B Tier class but a good sniper is S tier easily
I disagree that it's S tier. I consider myself fairly good at sniper. And, I actually do totally fine in crowd control because of the pierce. The thing I hate those is how little damage is done for how much ammo management and overall effort. Heavies often get way more damage in and much easier. They get +50% damage for just heating up their gun lol. Just fire away
The majoris(I think) (tall guys)takes up 4-5 headshots to go down. That feels annoying for that amount of effort. Though I'm sure this'll go down a bit once I reach max lvl weapon
@@user-bb3ci3gn7sthat’s probably why it’s taking so many shots, I’m a sniper main and I don’t want to toot my own horn but I’ve rarely ever been brought down even during solo ruthless. It’s takes a while to get the class running with a learning curve but cloak with Las Fusil can dome major enemies with 1-2 to the head, with the right perks you can outshine a heavy using a plasma pistol and Multi meta easily
I'm happy that Assault will probably be getting a buff. I run it as my main atm and I'm pretty decent at not dying with it. I use the jump-pack to reposition myself whenever I'm being overwhelmed by ads and leap at majoris targets to soften them up. It's definitely a lot easier to play against Tyranids. Chaos can be a bit tough. The thunder hammer definitely needs to go through ads shields and should be better at stunning enemies. If I can consistently pop charged attacks on a majoris I feel like I should be rewarded with staggers.
Its my favorite class by far but it definitely needs a little love and attention!! I just gotnthe double ground slam perk last night and its such a game changer
Everything needs to stagger a bit more easily but I have a feeling they WANT you to parry and dodge. They don’t want you to stagger your way out of it.
As someone who is only playing assault because I love the "style" of that gameplay. Assault feels bad. They gimped the use of the jet pack and the wonky platforming makes the ability not work in alot of situations. It lacks any sort of defensive utility so your just dying while not being able to kills high priority targets that easily. The lack of primary weapon means that you are useless against flying enemies like Zoanthropes or sorcerers. I hope they release a patch to give it some love soon.
If you’re having trouble against Majoris, try fencing hammer and max your gun strike damage. Parry the hell out of them and swing when they’re not attacking. You’ll mince majoris in melee faster than anyone else can and you regen armor like a beast. Try treating the assault like a majoris hunter that precisely removes priority targets, just square up against the biggest stuff around and you’ll have a great time
Having soloed about 80 Ruthless missions with sniper and not being able to even come close with most other classes I cannot take this tier list seriously .
I feel the heavy is actually the BULKIEST out of the classes rn due to how contested health meltas work in addition to the real run killer being ranged chip damage which is blocked by iron halo. The Multi melta combined with ammo economy perks and the finisher that allows for extra attack speed turns the heavy into insane ad clear and priority target clear. I rarely run out of ammo using the class due to the abundance of pick ups and ammo perks, which is why I would put it S tier solidly above everything else as no other class can carry as easily as the heavy does simply by just clearing missions by itself. Especially when even if you can’t parry those high difficulty targets and take damage no worries just shoot the enemy once or twice ESPECIALLY if there are any other enemies nearby and watch as you just become immortal (especially with the anti stagger perks) especially if you have a bulwark that makes it so contested health drains slower you just out heal any damage you take while dishing out a lot of it.
Assault was the first class I played and I got it to level 10 before switching to Tactical. The hammer really needs a buff, jetpack needs more charges (and ideally more lift), needs more tanky abilities because theyre melee.
Guys, Perks wise, a Heavy with a Multi Melta, and Iron Halo on, shielding others that are shooting, while deleting anything in front of him, and having a Plasma gun as Side Arm, is S class absolutely.
Assault needs some love. C is fair. The chaos shielded minoris can tank 6 or more light attacks from the hammer. The hammer needs to hit harder, jetpack is underwhelming, and it needs more access to survivability. I have more issues with the lack of armor or health/regen for all of the classes
Assault needs a buff to bring it up to the level of the others. Your commentary on the problems of the Assault are spot on -- contested health and getting stun locked. But another issue I have is getting destroyed while jumping or while landing with a ground pound -- there's nothing I can do about it. Vanguard, as far as I can tell seems to be immune while it grapples to its target. And Vanguard gets damage resist etc... why doesn't the Assault? There needs to be some kind of defense buff when you land or enemy damage debuff/slow. I love the hammer and the animations for it, I think they did a great job at it. But it's frustrating and I'm ready to walk away from Assault till they can fix it.
Vanguard aren't immune during grapple. It just seems more of a timing thing. Sorcerors can bounce you off. If an enemy hits you as you connect they knock you out of it. Or my favorite. If they strafe just right the move misses completely lol
the heavy with the multimelta is a solo carry on the hardest difficulty, its only bad with the other two guns. A maxed out multi melta will kill a mjoris in 3-5 shots, you have 44-50 ammo capacity, and if there is also small enemies you'll be getting rounds back. Heavy is very very strong if you have the multimelta, this video down plays the heavy a lot
@Sombody123 I hope not. Other guns need to be buffed to its level. We are meant to be getting an even higher diffculty after all. I don't want a repeat of helldivers
It's just too damn early to make a tier list. 90 hours is nowhere near enough time to master any class, let alone every class. I get that it's fun to make a tier list, but until you've actually properly mastered the classes, your list isn't worth anything. It's too damn early.
10:35 Can confirm, I started my multiplayer operations getting slapped around like a blowup doll as assault and it sucks cuz there’s nothing more satisfying to me than just dropping a MASSIVE hammer on a bug/rubrik marine xD
"Close to 90 hours after just a few days" I would like to know the secrets of how you obtained these extra hours Edit: Guys i know what he meant when he said that i was trying to be funny and joke about it
The single best squad in the game is Tactical + Sniper + Heavy, Ruthless difficulty is a joke, everything dies in seconds including Terminus and bosses like the Hive Tyrant. You rarely ever have to engage in melee combat because all 3 classes have ammo retention and nothing can stay alive long enough to get close to you.
Tactical is easily one of the higher tier classes thanks to his versatility, as it should be, but sniper is secretly the best for the sheer amount of hidden utility he brings. You can rez friendlies faster, you get a free "get out of jail free card" every 3 minutes, you can 2-3 shot even extremis enemies, you can be ammo neutral, and you can improve everyone elses ability usage by just getting headshot kills. Which you should naturally be doing. From most to least useful I'd put it at: Sniper Tactical Bulwark Heavy Vanguard Assault I've been trying to work with assault, which can be smash apart hordes but man you feel flimsy. Ironically he's better with the powerfist or the chainsword, as you have much faster heavies to break the guard of tzaangor shields (which are the most obnoxious enemy in the game) as they will be your biggest threat otherwise.
I joined an operations already in progress with 2 spanish speaking guys. As I joined in the elevator they where on, one of them started shouting and laughing "Alpharius!, Alpharius no es possible" after which they both started to "punch" me. (I'm in Alpha Legion colors and markings). I don't speak spanish but can understand it somewhat, and noticed they kept talking about me troughout the level. But as a bullwark clutching up and giving them most of the ammo and stimms, they kept me on (is my guess). Back in the lobby, one of them said "sorry" and I got kicked of the squad. I love how strong the lore in this game is! Anyway, my 2 cents on this vid as a sniper main and bullwark second. Those are S tier, the rest needs a little something something in my opinion. Assault needs a primairy and higher jump like in the campaign, and heavy needs a melee, even if it's just a knife like the sniper has.
The bulwark perk that gives you back armor on non finisher gun strikes is such a solid option, I can’t make myself take it off. Pair it with the shield bash knocking enemies back further perk and you have constant armor all the time
That Shock Drop tho...so good when you're holding a mass of trash back, combined with them taking extra damage while in it, your flag also dealing extra damage, your perfect parries dealing massive AOE damage...I find that if I stop to gun strike in the middle of a clusterfuck I'll take more damage than what I've regained.
@@jabloko992 definitely makes you weigh your options before you do it lmao I run it with the shield bash perk that knocks trash mobs down, always opens at least one for a gun strike and gives enough space to get the shot off
Dam heavy b tier. I would place him in low s tier as long as your using the multi melta. The perfect parry is quite easy with thr multi melta at least for me dont have an issues doing that. You essentially have unlimited hp as long as you hit enough targets with the multi melta while u have contested hp. My group always has me take the gene seed because I almost never go down.
Assault needs some serious buffs. He's arguably worse in melee than the tactical, and the hammer feels rubbish until its almost max where the chainsword feels awesome from level 1
Play a good bit of sniper here, definitely would recommend people to check out the stalker more. Heard this take a lot, that the SMG and stalker are throw picks because your class is literally called sniper. But the stalker has very respectable DMG. It also has the + side of aiming without being scoped in, which lets you see things close to you way easier. It's also really nice being able to fire a few quick shots at anything that needs it, rolling away and picking that back up without reloading or charging a shot. It's hard to compete with the Las atm, but I would highly suggest trying out the stalker more. Very good all rounder and gives the sniper some much needed wiggle room. Also the SMG can be modified to become a marksman rifle, like the stalker with less damage but double the ammo. I think it's the only weapon in the game that has a mod which completely changes the weapon to something new.
The Las Sniper is literally a Melta except it has longer range and narrower spread, but it also has massive Penetration so you can help with Hoards. You can't do that with any other weapon on him
I feel that the reason assault feels so bad is because the jump pack in the first game was really strong. Not to the point of being completely overpowered, but it was almost a “get out of jail free card” for enemy swarms. The devs probably didn’t want that to be the case this time around and underpowered the jump packs for this game, but there’s every chance it’ll get buffed. However, the fact that you can’t jump very high is most likely to make sure you can’t backtrack.
Psssst: The thing I've learned about assault. -You can perfect dodge with the jetpack -They have perks that let you get auto refills on the jetpack -The dashing knee attack followed by a heavy slam with the right perks is all sorts of fun. -I love the class, but I would still probably only put it at the bottom of B tier even with all of it's skill and weapon upgrades maxed Q_Q
I've never played sniper but I can imagine that lictors are probably the bane of snipers given they basically fuckin teleport around the map, like how are you even supposed to track and hit one when it backpedals away from you, and then somehow ends up behind you in a matter of half a second
You wait for it to attack you or your teammates. Turn invisible and pop the first headshot. It's possible to stagger lictor with a headshot so depending how lictor is gonna attack and how skilled you are you can 3 tap it into execution state. Other option is to perform a perfect dodge into a gun strike to get the headshot in. Using melta bomb is also very viable. Bait it into chasing you, place melta, turn invisible and boom.
@@DevlVergil I don't think minoris are an issue if it's just them. Can usually just shotgun 'em with las fusil. But the moment you mix an absurd number of them alongside with majoris, and don't have camo up, it just becomes a dodge roll game for me.
@@DevlVergil Can confirm, Lictor is no problem especially since I use the Fencing Knife, I just parry them to death. I actually love lictors as sniper, they are fun to fight (unless they jump me from behind while I'm sniping, that sucks ofc). If you want to make a sniper cry, send Shielded Tzaangors on them.
Hey dudes, great insight on the classes. Regarding Assault, I honestly think that class goes straight to A tier if they had access to the hover function from the campaign. Maybe a plasma pistol or access to a Bolt rifle and we're good 😅
It will be interesting to see what they do with the Assault class. It kind of wants to do the similar things as Vanguard but just isn't as good at it, and missing the primary weapon is a huge issue IMO.
No amount of Thunder Hammer/Diving Slam will come even close to Vanguard's Melta, and that's just an extra weapon that the class has, that is before it even uses secondary or melee or its abilities. Melta by itself make the entire Assault class irrelevant. Vanguard also has much, MUCH better perks, the extra perfect parry+dodge window is just EXCELLENT, Grapnel Launcher is much better than the floaty bullshit as it stuns the moment you target the guy and you aren't hovering in the air eating a ton of shots while doing so.
For sniper with crowd kill-What about Las Fusil with the “recharge a shot whenever it kills two enemies” perk? If you upgrade the gun to have a wider field you basically have a long rang Melta that recharges its ammo when fired into crowds, it’s really handy- less single target DPS as tradeoff
I main sniper and i am offended 😂. No but Sniper is B tier low lvl S Tier Max Lvl. I never die in ruthless i kill all majoris in one or two shots, rescue anyone who is down with ease and deal major damage to bosses. I can also melee / parry forever and dont die.

Good vid, here is my list (order matters): S - Tactical, Vanguard A - Bulwark / Sniper, Heavy C - Assault I feel like as you were explaining your reasoning behind Heavy's placement you ended up convincing yourself that it deserves to go higher in the ranking lol. its a really good class even by default because of multimelta + multikill perk nice vid fallout i learnt a few things! im also new to 40k and trying to grasp some of the lore btw 😁
Right now bulwark is not only good at being tanky it is one of those that really helps with Heals. Like if their is a long Execution like you facing an Extermis, someone decides to execute them, drop the flag and you pretty much heal them to max hp. It is such a good way to forgo the fighting for stims packs
Being able to use Final Shot to instantly reload the Melta rifle with any execution on tactical is so GOOD. I can just sit there in entire swarms an clear out mobs of Majoris and Minoris faster and more consistently than my heavy buddy can even with his own multi-melta, albeit I will run out of ammo faster than he does. Relentless Pursuit and Battle Focus also compliment each other very very well, and when used with Final Shot, Tactical gets very nutty in the earlier levels with a Melta.
I agree with most of the points except for the Vanguards signature ability, you should use the lvl 25 one as it allows for amazing survivability especially if you have a sniper to help get majoris into execute states, I often can go from a sliver of health to full in a large wave or two allowing me to give medicae to my teammates and also sniper while not amazing with CC is still respectable because of the piercing of it's weapons
At first I hated the way tactical played but once I got the class maxed out I love it, at its best the scan can provide a whopping 275% damage bonus including a extended scan time, now me and my buddies only run tac, sniper, bulwark and or heavy especially on the missions with boss fights, we can utterly melt the hell out of the boss
I wish the combat was more like Darktide, it feels like a struggle in hardest difficulty and you’re just trying to survive. Meanwhile as a reject you are ripping and tearing through the opposition. I would think that would be reversed. Hopefully Boltors get buffed
I’m with you on that and I’m not even on higher difficulties yet in this game. Darktide is two years in so I assume SM2 will get its refinement and feel a lot better. Game feels like a slog right now. Server and matchmaking issues don’t help.
@@J.B.1982the game is not impossible, but you are punished heavily for mistakes. The game is set up so you learn the game mechanics while you level the classes. It only gets easier as you level.
@@J.B.1982 Team composition is also more important in SM2 than Darktide. Having no ranged specialized class can drag some encounters substantially. SM2 coop is definitely more difficult early on due to the lack of support abilities that some classes have to bolster team survivability. At least by the time you reach relic tier weapons for one class, the shared weapons and your combat experience by then makes leveling a fresh class easier.
That's because the defense in this game is different. In Darktide, you also die instantly if you don't do the dodge dance correctly. This game is the same: if you can't defend yourself, it's instant death. Parrying is everything in this game, if you can't parry then you'll struggle a lot. In Darktide, parrying is like "oh hey, I accidentally parried that attack, nice!" but it doesn't really matter.
Tried assault last night on operations after finishing the campaign and it was so bad I thought my game was bugged. Who would have thought the biggest weakness for a dude with a massive jump pack is a ranged unit on a position elevated slightly off the ground......
I’ve mained assault when I first played and put a good amount of time into it; it’s great for the massive hordes that can attack and when synergised with bulwark and any range ( tactical, heavy, sniper, vanguard ) you have better chances at taking down majoris or extremis targets easily thinning down those minoris enemies and giving your team more breathing space, I’d personally say that c or d just seems low considering I’ve brought this class into ruthless and I’ve had to clutch for my team as we’ve been overwhelmed and using the jump pack I can easily wait for that timer to come down and just kite all the enemies whilst using heavy bolt pistol to quickly drop those bigger targets whether it’s chaos or tyranids we still hold a good combo with the thunder hammer or chainsword
Lets get this straight, assault might be the worst class in a lot of peoples opinion, but it's still a very viable class! It's not weak by any means, just weaker then the other ones.. the hammer is so underrated!

You can't say something is weak when it's not.. Maybe weaker in comparison to Heavy or Tactical, but it's far from weak so no, you can't call it that..
A big mistake people make with assault is that you are not the front line wall. You are a hit and run character. You’re encouraged to get into the thick of it, do big damage and get out. Target the specifically majoris or extremis enemies and let Heavy or other classes meant to add clear do so. You’re not the front line like Bulwark. Go in, to big burst damage, get out. Use 1 jump to get in and do damage, and then the next one to get out. Also run the chain sword it’s so much better than the over hammer. Hammer is cool and all but versatility of the chain sword is unbeatable.
ASSAULT needs a perk that gives you DR after doing an assault jump would really help. Give you like 20% DR for a few seconds after activating jet pack and giving it one more charge would allow you to activate from pack to pack and if you timed your jumps correctly could keep up your DR for a length of time.
I’ve always felt that Assault is a “glue eater’s trap class”. He seems like he’s the type of guy to just throw himself at anything that moves, but he doesn’t have the raw sustain of Bulwark so he can’t stand and fight for very long. His greatest strength is mobility, but you have to know how to use it. If he tries to play like the Bulwark, he gets punished for it, so he needs to play more like Vanguard in my eyes: knowing when and where to pick fights.
Greetings Brothers, thank you for the video! I disagree on your Assault Ranking: Even on "Ruthless" difficuly I rarely die. I am happy if surrounded because I get resets on my ability with "Zeaolous Blow" and with "Armour Reinforcements" Non-Finisher Gun Strikes restore Armor which is big for the class survival. You can get 2 Armor back in a single Majoris fight. Even before the patch (Patch 3.0 (26/09/24)) I had no issues staying alive. Dodging back and jumping back in to trigger a Gun Strike kept me alive easily. A counter even pushes back the Minoris to give you time for a charged attack. After the patch the massive clearing potential even got increased! The risk of being overwelmed is close to zero. I do agree that Zoanthrope and Neurothrope are a pain in the A. I would rate the Assault Class "A" in Terms of fun even "S" - I just love the all the animations. Regarding the Bulwark: I agree on the "S" Tier and would like to add that you not only can heal yourself but your Brothers in Battle as well. Giving contested health on banner drop is huge benefit that needs to be mentioned! Thank you again for your work and have fun - The Emperor protects.
The assault disrespect is insane, just put on fencing, the perk that gives you armor on gunstrikes, 50% more gunstrike damage, ability back on kills, and hit your parries and you’re golden. Assault actually requires a bit more skill than other classes
The three I'm working on: Tactical: Does it all, looks dope af when fully upgraded Bulwark: Availability is the best Ability Heavy: Reminds me of the Heavy from Team Fortress: WaaaaahhhhH ha ha ha! Cry some more!
I think assault is slept in so much. No one actually utilises his perfect dodge passive enough. Doing a double gun strike with boosted damage and two armour from it is insane.
Earlier today I ran Decapitation on Ruthless and negated the Carnifex boss's nearly full 2nd lifebar using a Melta Bomb during a Tactical's Auspex Scan. Phase 2 literally lasted less than 5 seconds lol.
ammo glitch works on any amount of health on any class on any weapon in the game that has a perk "total ammount of ammo is increased by ~%" (or shit like that Idk how it's translated correctly).
Bulwark is far from S or A tier, being locked to melee automatically makes them B at best, and the fact their only benefit comes from defense over offense is a massive downside. Same problem smite has in darktide and the reason that ability sucks. If you want to clear missions efficiently, under 10 mins on ruthless, and actually do damage, don't play bulwark.
@@RhomasTotevenaar there's pure damage, normal damage, and no damage, bulwark does the latter. Melee in SM2 is in a terrible state and any class locked to it is automatically a throw when playing ruthless. Unless melee damage gets a drastic buff or is fully reworked to add benefit to the risk you put yourself in, as melee combat should, then you're adding next to nothing to the team and hurting your own efficiency. Anyone who thinks bulwark is a carry is fundamentally bad at the game and doesn't understand why they're losing to a difficulty as easy as ruthless
I think one of the biggest problems with assault is moreso to do with the thunderhammer itself. For how slow it is, its damage just doesnt make up for the downsides. Sure it has good aoe, but so does every other melee weapon except for the combat knife. However, if you use assault with a chainsword, it changes the game. Get some of the perks that effect dodging and abuse the jetpack for dodges instead of slams, and you can almost become untouchable. The only downside is ranged enemies so you have to play positioning a little more carefully, but it still works great since doing a jetpack dodge has a %50 bigger window to avoid damage, pair it with the perk that gives you armor on any gunstrike (not just kills) and you would be surprised how durable and how much survival the class has. Though this all comes with a problem that you have to level up quite a lot to get these perks, which is a problem in my opinion. But I dont think assault is nearly as bad as everyone says. Buff thunderhammer to have a bit faster swings and more combos, and make it so light attacks break enemy guards (its a giant hammer, it really shouldnt need a heavy attack to do this) and then re-tweak some of the more redundant perks to allow for more build options and I think it would be a great class.
Honestly the only issue a Bulwark has is with dual Zoanthropes if he ran out of ammo :D Even a Carnifex can be parried and melee killed but it's difficult because it mostly uses dodgable aoe attacks, but it's a high risk/high reward scenario for a Bulwark.
Maybe for Assault they could do sth like, you get 4 charges total. Dodges cost 1 charge, flying costs 2. And then buff the dodge by increasing the distance and granting it a massively increased perfect dodge window. Zipping around with the jetpack is fun, but way too costly currently.
I dont know, i absolutley like Multi melta Heavy the best it feels broken af. You have no melee bullshit abilities, and if you get the "strong attacks dont interupt you" perk, you can plow down everything without any care. And as you said it have some of the strongest team perks. Ammo, CDR etc. With ammo perks etc, you get 50+ ammo with a max lvl gun. I never go empty, and i never need to swap to sidearm. I always top damage and kills and special takedowns. As long as shit swarms you, you are unkillable.. you get back full hp in one hit.
Assault is amazing once you master it up too the 3rd difficulty. Up til that point if can be extremely effective at demolishing large groups of elites but you have to commit. This backfires once enemy's start being able to tank 4 to 5 charged attacks.
While i agree with the assault class being ranked the ‘worst’, i can’t stop having fun smashing things with it. I am maxed out on it and keep playing with it as it’s pure warhammer 40k joy which makes up for all its flaws for me. Once you get a fencing variant and get better at parrying and how to navigate melee combat, you can’t not smile as you wave and smash your hammer through everything ❤😊
Assault early on I definitely agree with that rank. Once it’s leveled up I think A is possible. Especially after patch. So far it’s the most fun class I’ve used and I’ve used tactical, heavy, sniper, and assault

What about mutants though. Every remembers the Xenos and the Heretics but people sleep on the mutants.
@@Elthenar It depends, often ogryns and some psykers serve in the imperium military. Some space marine chapters have psykers too. For example Grey knights are composed entirely of psykers
@@ProffessorWaffle They are considered abhumans. They aren't classified as mutants, simply humans who evolved to fit the world that they were on. In the case of Ogryns, that is a high G world.
Likely the only true mutant that the Imperium tolerates are the Navigators. Even that was supposed to be short lived, the Emperors whole webway project was aimed at removing the need for void craft and the dependence on Navigators.
Funny enough all of the 6 can do it pretty effectively😁
I've maxed out assault heavy tactical and now working on sniper and I can say max out the weapons that are class specific like Las sniper rifle it can crowd clear I took out a group before my teammates could make it to them
max out the thunderhammer I literally kill majors with a unpowerd charge attack because I can slam twice and I got 15% more damage to charge
Max out plasma incendiary I literally parry a major and they get scanned and I use a charge shot it puts them in the red and I can switch to my second and kill it to get all my ammo back
The trick to this game is u gotta know how to build your character I don't jump from character to character leveling them up theres to many play styles to master so I take my time one one to get a feel of there and my play style and I prefer parrying everything so ive learned to do it with a balanced weapon so when im using a fencing one i get it right every time i can be a sniper taking on that boss from tge first mission and parry his swings and dodge through his charge getting gun strikes and snipping his head because I've took the time to understand a character u have to be experienced in how that character works just because your at lvl 25 with a character does not mean u know how to play with it I've carried so many games off experience alone like literally I was a lvl 8 sniper on ruthless trying to lvl up the Las and I don't have that much ammo so I'm intentionally lowering my health for ammo but I know how to parry so why am I taking out the whole swarm and a licore and the lvl 25 heavy and lvl 22 bulwark dead I don't even use my cameo except for bosses because I noticed everyone turn and attack my teammates
I can tell by how they talk about the classes there builds can use some improvements here or there especially with assault that class taught me how to parry
@@kristatum6688 This, 100%. A good sniper is a force. And like you said, with full talents a sniper can clear crowds somewhat well with the Las Fusil and have good ammo economy doing it.
Assault deserved better after that great campaign experience. I hope they balance it to make it better for PvE-endgame. :(
The melee weapon damage increase perks need to be doubled. 5% more damage doesn't do anything.
The Assault is the weakest class I would said.
Jump pack into slam most definitely gets u back basically a full health bar lmao @@IdrisImi
I see a lot of people wasting ammo on trash mobs instead of conserving ammo the first couple levels. You have a pistol and knife for reason.
I switched to Melta not really wanting to but OMG I'm hooked. I'm a Parry master with my Heavy and it's soooo satisfying. Heavy is just OP.
If you grab the perk tree perk for the malta that refunds 1 shot anytime you kill 5 or more enemies it's a great way to have efficiency when dealing with hoards and not having to worry about ammo economy.
Heavys also broken with plasma incinerator
Vanguard has the damage bonus for cooldown as well
@@yobro1196 Tactical gets a Plasma gun too that's way better as it has no drop, plus you have infinite ammo on Tactical using the Finisher on Elite or higher every 30 seconds (with pistol equipped)
Heavy being b tier is heresy.

& they say it's hard to parry with him, he literally has build in fencing.
It's piss easy, parry 24h - rly weird.
Facts
Nah, I agree with them
Agreed brother
Assault changes needed:
1.) big buffs to range damage reduction (their weaker area) & buff to damage reduction versus melee (they have no choice but to be a melee class to be effective)
2.) better HP recovery needs to be added to this class, no questions asked. It makes zero sense for ranged classes like Tactical to have this ability, but not a melee.
3.) thunderhammer needs a buff to damage all across each variant to make up for its much slower speed and recovery on being capable of parrying.
4.) Rework Team utility perks and skills. If they really fixed this class survivability, I’d love some sort of ‘taunting’ ability to really make them a tanky class that they deserve to be
Bulwark better be upper tier or I'm stealing Fallout's toe nails
Edit: he keeps his toe nails for now...
Oh shit, I'll steal his shampoo if he dares to make a heretical action!
I’m just gonna friggin get him. Idc about the tier list
It kinda depends. Against xenos, bulwark can hard carry the team, even on high difficulties. Against chaos, it is one of the worst. There’s nothing in between. It needs to be rebalanced.
He literally mains it, lmao
Heavy with Multi Melta and Plasma Pistol is just gold. Good for ad clearing and bosses alike.
Ye
Im running 70% of the entire grp dmg on a regular basis
Healing to full with 1 shot
You must be on crack to put it in B tier
I prefer the normal Pistol but with the Multi Melta I’ve only used the pistol to get rid of the green drugs on the ground
Stupidly good build. That guy who said 70% of all group damage isn't joking when talking about ranged damage.
I was just about to comment that, it's definitely S tier for me with that setup with full perks
Brothers, nod seriously and say "Ah, yes, very true, terrible single target, Heavy needs buffs". The Emperor Wills It. ;)
I am convinced that a multimelta heavy near an ammo box is near invincible.
The class you like most to play and have fun with. That's the true S-tier for me😊
Unless that class is assault. Because no one likes staring at the respawn timer 😉
I like assault and play it and even I think it's dog$hit tier
30:32 the class perks shown belong to the Sniper, but you’re discussing Heavy here. Just wanted to point it out!
yeah, I noticed that too. I'm a sniper main and I was like 'huh?' when I saw that on the screen 😆
I like that you brought someone else to discuss and differentiate in this conversation. Makes it allot more enticing to watch differing opinions in a game I love
AS OF RIGHT NOW
Tactical and Heavy S
(melta rifle/grenade launcher/ survivability/damage+ perks + team buffs)
Sniper and Vanguard A
(Boss damage, elite damage, just misses out on S because horde clear is possible with radius on Las Fusil on sniper but not as optimal as melta like on Vanguard, however Vanguards ability in pve is minimally effective for the most part whereas Sniper bonus damage on leaving invis is crazy)
Bulwark B
(Great team buffs and can clutch potential but not as aggressive as other classes and misses out on damage)
Assault C
Poor survivability compared to other classes, weapons need a damage buff, particularly the hammer, jet pack needs another charge and boost dodges should take half a charge not an entire charge
Maxed out all classes, 135 hours played and farm regularly on ruthless to help people . This is just my informed opinion but I think generally all classes are more than useful when paired together with the worst being assault which I think needs tuned up a bit.
my thoughts exactly
That sucks because I wanted to play Assault the most. What would be the most closely related/alternative?
@cathode6252 Asaault is still somewhat viable IMHO. But if you want to minmax, I'd say Vanguard is closest. Aggressive and melee focused. Chainsword would get you closer buy it does diminish the point of grappling an elite and carving through them with the knife.
@@Padfoot71 Exactly, still at that point on the vanguard you'd just use the melta post grapple to immediately cook them 😂
@@cathode6252 it is viable, you just really have to be Conservative with your thruster pack and you essentially have to have the class maxed out... also be careful when launching into a group of majoris and large hores, you need to be a bit more decisive compared to other classes and watch your survivability but so long as you have decent teammates you can definitely make it work
Easier tier list: Does the class have access to the Melta or Fusil? If yes then A tier at least :)
Vanguard, yes. Grapple in, utilize melta and chain sword to punish everything around you while constantly moving.

The thing when using heavy bolter on Heavy is that you have to make sure you are scoring headshots. I noticed throughout the segment (29:33 for example) where you are consistenly aiming for center mass. You are losing a lot of damage when doing that.
Came here to say the same thing. Pretty much all the guns (save for Melta and maybe the Heavy Plasma) are bad without headshots.
Another thing you can do is quick scoping by just tapping the aim button to hit more accurately in a crowd

I run heavy bolter
Excited for it to be buffed
Agreed, a sniper main that knows what they are doing are easily top of S tier
The Melta-Heal will be fixed in next update.
I appreciate and enjoyed this video, it’s definitely great to see reasoning and different ideas and uses in classes 👍
Assault needs some love. C is fair. The chaos shielded minoris can tank 6 or more light attacks from the hammer. The hammer needs to hit harder, jetpack is underwhelming, and it needs more access to survivability.
I have more issues with the lack of armor or health/regen for all of the classes
Tierlists be damned, give me a Thunderhammer and/or a melta weapon and I'll start purging.
They are probably going to nerf it a bit eventually.
@Sombody123 I hope not. Other guns need to be buffed to its level. We are meant to be getting an even higher diffculty after all. I don't want a repeat of helldivers

I agree, while not in the higher difficulties, I ran with that team last night for several hours and we were dropping everything
I will take your advice for now because you’re both far further in to the game than I am and because you both explained yourselves so well. Excellent.
From most to least useful I'd put it at:
Sniper
Tactical
Bulwark
Heavy
Vanguard
Assault
I've been trying to work with assault, which can be smash apart hordes but man you feel flimsy.
@@jabloko992 definitely makes you weigh your options before you do it lmao I run it with the shield bash perk that knocks trash mobs down, always opens at least one for a gun strike and gives enough space to get the shot off
I love how much you guys love this game. I have no desire to play it myself but I will watch any vid with you guys talking about it.
Thank you, this is a really helpful video.
Great video fellas
Fallout and TV, and love the vox vocals from TV. These two make bangin content
Assault feels very fun with the thunder hammer smashing tyrranid heads but it needs love and more stuff
Thank you guys very much it helps a lot here's a sub and like keep up the great work 😁👍
Assault needs some serious buffs.
Stakler bolter main sniper here. Its a game changer with all the headshot perks.
The Las Sniper is literally a Melta except it has longer range and narrower spread, but it also has massive Penetration so you can help with Hoards. You can't do that with any other weapon on him
Though using the Stalker Bolter I'm assuming you just end up being a worse Tactician class.
@DevlVergil not really with the damage perks like +20% more damage beyond 20 meters and all the headshot damage perks.
That doesn't really check out though considering the jump pack is amazing in the campaign and PvP
It’s a different developer so that point doesn’t stick. Every list of seen has assault at the bottom
Psssst: The thing I've learned about assault.
-You can perfect dodge with the jetpack
-They have perks that let you get auto refills on the jetpack
-The dashing knee attack followed by a heavy slam with the right perks is all sorts of fun.
The bane of the Sniper are always trash mobs. I'd much rather fight one Lictor 1v1 than 10 minoris enemies.
@@DevlVergil I don't think minoris are an issue if it's just them. Can usually just shotgun 'em with las fusil. But the moment you mix an absurd number of them alongside with majoris, and don't have camo up, it just becomes a dodge roll game for me.
You stop looking down the scope and parry lol
@@jabloko992 Yes pretty much this
For sniper with crowd kill-What about Las Fusil with the “recharge a shot whenever it kills two enemies” perk?
If you upgrade the gun to have a wider field you basically have a long rang Melta that recharges its ammo when fired into crowds, it’s really handy- less single target DPS as tradeoff
I main sniper and i am offended 😂. No but Sniper is B tier low lvl S Tier Max Lvl. I never die in ruthless i kill all majoris in one or two shots, rescue anyone who is down with ease and deal major damage to bosses. I can also melee / parry forever and dont die.
Loving see all the destiny creators branching out. Mactics with Warframe, you with SM2. Everyone is trying stuff out and finding games they really vibe with.
Keep it up Fallout!
Fallout is like a Brian Cox of gaming, when he is explaining something, makes sense yet feels soothing because of his voice. Anyways, GG by FO and TV, awesome content loving it to death.
Good vid, here is my list (order matters):
S - Tactical, Vanguard
A - Bulwark / Sniper, Heavy
C - Assault
I feel like as you were explaining your reasoning behind Heavy's placement you ended up convincing yourself that it deserves to go higher in the ranking lol. its a really good class even by default because of multimelta + multikill perk
nice vid fallout i learnt a few things! im also new to 40k and trying to grasp some of the lore btw 😁
I'm always excited for 40K content from this man
One you play a gun class for awhile, assault is such a breath of fresh air.. I'm just loving all these classes tbh..
Ahhh I love to see True vanguard played D1 or D2 death match with his boys and mine such a nice guy !
Would love to see more collabs of yall together!
@@thomasn4347
Yeah, I’ve noticed that too and like that part of the game - re:team composition.
Great job, men! Even you, Fallout!
Seriously though this is some excellent content.
Consider doing it regularly.
👍
Lets get this straight, assault might be the worst class in a lot of peoples opinion, but it's still a very viable class! It's not weak by any means, just weaker then the other ones.. the hammer is so underrated!
If somethings weaker than every other class. Then you can use the word weak, because it's in comparison to everyone else.
@@danpsyker6122 Thats the dumbest thing I've ever heard.. There is no weak classes in the game so you're wrong. but In PVE I like assault over Bulwark and Vanguard all day... The hammers charged attacks are unmatched and being able to pop the jet pack every few minutes and just smash a few heavies.. I just like assault, the drip is awesome too, one of the coolest looking classes. cry about it.
@@EKk8819 Cope. The Hammer Charge attack? Yeah, how many hits are you eating while charging it? Meanwhile, Vanguard just goes "click" with a melta and does more than the charged hit, instantly and he can dodge immediately before and after. Assault just eats hits with everything he does.
@@jabloko992 I take no hits.. wtf u talking about you CLEARLY don't know how to play assault.. And you're really comparing the best gun in the game to a melee hammer? You're obviously just desperate to talk about Vanguard lol..And if I'm gonna use Melta last class I'm using is Vanguard, straight up useless class... But once you actually know what you're doing hammer is the best melee weapon in the game, not even close. Highest DPS, you can actually charge and clear hordes with attacks, plus the jet pack slam which is the only time you should be surrounded by swarms.. You're talking about cope, just tell us you're trash at the game without telling us you're trash at the game.. Learn how to do combos and use your pistol and actually PLAY and you won't get hit while charging.. Also it takes about .5 seconds to get a charged attack, nobody stands there fully charging the hammer unless certain situations.. So you don't know what you're talking about. It's the weakest class rn because it doesn't have the best perks or OP weapons, not because it's not viable, or cuz the hammer sucks.. There's not 1 weak class in this game tho.
@@danpsyker6122 I bet you were the type to raise your hand in school before the teacher even finished the question.. "Well technically teacher".. bro shut up... You can't say something is weak when it's not.. Maybe weaker in comparison to Heavy or Tactical, but it's far from weak so no, you can't call it that..
Assault is so much better than you give credit for, how can you say this is an endgame tier list but then say you haven’t played him enough.
Heavy + Melta = S-tier
I can easily solo Ruthless difficulty missions with no issue. I dominate the end game stats when I play with real people.
True, only thing that can catch you out is some boss fights.
I routinely outdamage Melta Heavies as Melta Vanguard.
@@jabloko992 i routinely outdamage my entire team combined with my ranged assault built
Greetings Brothers,
thank you for the video! I disagree on your Assault Ranking:
Even on "Ruthless" difficuly I rarely die.
Regarding the Bulwark:
I agree on the "S" Tier and would like to add that you not only can heal yourself but your Brothers in Battle as well.
The three I'm working on:
Tactical: Does it all, looks dope af when fully upgraded
Bulwark: Availability is the best Ability
Heavy: Reminds me of the Heavy from Team Fortress: WaaaaahhhhH ha ha ha! Cry some more!
I think assault is slept in so much. No one actually utilises his perfect dodge passive enough. Doing a double gun strike with boosted damage and two armour from it is insane.
Devastator heavy multi-melta with the spin to win dodge roll never gets old.
Earlier today I ran Decapitation on Ruthless and negated the Carnifex boss's nearly full 2nd lifebar using a Melta Bomb during a Tactical's Auspex Scan. Phase 2 literally lasted less than 5 seconds lol.
Bulwark S and Heavy B? What are you smoking?
ammo glitch works on any amount of health on any class on any weapon in the game that has a perk "total ammount of ammo is increased by ~%" (or shit like that Idk how it's translated correctly).
It’s nice seeing you guys having fun, Space marine and wukong have been a very enjoyable respite from Destiny
Bulwark isn't meant for pure damage. Play sniper or heavy
Tactical>Heavy>Sniper>Vanguard>Bulwark>Assault
Aww man I really like the Assault. Although I guess that does explain why I keep dying. Guess ima go level up Bulwark.
Vanguard having 2 armor is meaningless when you can mitigate all melee damage at level 25. Ranged damage is the only threat to the class
Warhammer looks so fun! I look forward to getting into it!
