Creed - "What If" (practice)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 25 ноя 2015
- This version of "What If" was filmed during a practice session while Creed was warming up for a concert during their "My Own Prison Tour". At this time, most of the material for the Human Clay album was still in the works and the songs were still being written.
This exclusive access into Creed's earlier days would eventually turn into an extensive library of extremely rare footage which includes studio recording sessions, practice sessions, song writing, band interviews, fan interviews, acoustic performances, backstage footage and full length concerts recorded in multi-track digital audio.
The library eventually contained about 100 hours of rare, original and unseen footage before Creed went on to sell over 35 million records worldwide.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

@@unofficialtester1545 very easy to knock on someone who is addicted to something until you are addicted yourself. very touchy subject my friend. best not to knock others on it. thanks buddy
@@unofficialtester1545 wasn't crack, it was opioids which are technically heroin. Scott was the victim of a failed FDA approving that shit for $$. Same with Chester Benington and countless others. Same reason 2020 is such a shitstorm, all started with a corrupt FDA and medical system. I knew shit would hit the fan eventually because of that. I'm just glad Scott Stapp survived it as many didn't.
He said “ WHAT IF YOUR WORDS COULD BE JUDGED LIKE A CRIME” wow considering now they can WOWWW
How can people possibly hate on this band or Scott? His voice is fucking spectacular.
SCOTT STAPP FOR PRESIDENT 2024
Because it's so similar to Eddie Vedder's voice.
Ungodly people hate the first albums conservative lyrics,Scott doesn’t sound like bedder at all

Human Clay will always have a special place in my heart. His voice is spectacular here.
It was one of the first bands that I discovered during my early internet years and I absolutely loved them. Having a dial-up for quite some time I didn't have the time to mindlessly look stuff up and I had no idea that there were people who hated Creed with a passion.
Mine too! ❤
Human Clay is an AMAZING record it was my 2nd CREED record. I have all 4 and they were WORTH it.
1, 2 you're coment is true ! 3,,4 better lock the door 😂
Should you be reminded, this is a PRACTICE performance and Scott's vocals are insanely on-par with the studio vocals in terms of energy, control, and duration. Most vocalists record either multiple takes or multiple parts to get "the perfect take" and he NAILED it...once again.. IN A PRACTICE performance. What the actual hell bruh!!!!
Yea😊 for me Scott stapp Best vocalist hard rock history music, Better vocalist alter bridge, U2, Alice in chains, Stone Temple pilots, saudgarden, nirvana, metallica, Korn, guns. Creed live: Toledo ( Ohio) 31-3-2000 , Woodstock 1999, ollympic Winter games salt lake city 2002.✌️👏👏👏🤟

Most people don't realize how heavy Creed actually was If you listen to the first 2 track on both Human Clay and Weathered you hear just how great and powerful a band they were.
Listen to tracks on My Own Prison like Torn, Pity for a Dime, Unforgiven
Doesn't even matter . THEY weren't trying to be some bad ass metal band they were just great. "My Own Prison" and it video was one of the greatest things rock to ever be born in thr 90s and that's saying a whole helluva lot amongst the likes of Layne Stayley, Pantera, and Chris Cornell who I admire so so much more especially as an audio engineer. I loved and lost a lost of brothers who were connected with me through Scott Stapp and the band Creed. They all were excellent and so many more ultra hardcore sludge, death, heavy metal bands. Many many great acts. Never feel ashamed because you love Creed. You could of grown to love something more Canadian ;) I think we all know who that is hah!
Full Circle was THE HEAVIEST album. So criminally underrated.
Not to mention alot of my own prion.
id include "beautiful" from human clay on that list...
Say what you will about Stapp......when Creed was in their prime....they delivered. This vid proves it.....
I miss this band... Never gave a damn what the haters said. I loved Creed then, and I love Creed now. Always will.
Haters will be haters, I guess you either get Creed or you don't
So did and so do I!
Top 3 favorite bands
They are touring brother. 2024 north America. I assume they will add more.
Possibly one of the most powerful videos on the internet
Okay that’s insane. I forgot how strong of a voice Scott had… damn.
Being a singer, I can appreciate that the sound on stage is 100% singer! (Scott Stapp)
For those that don't know, their guitarist is Mark Tremonti. He went on to be one of the founding members of Alter Bridge with Myles Kennedy and also has his own solo stuff under the name Tremonti. An insanely talented guitarist who is often overlooked. If you've never listened to Alter Bridge, you're missing out.
The whole band except Stapp founded Alter Bridge along with Myles. I just met Alter Bridge last week in Tampa. Powerful show!
@@soganoflarider I didn't know they all were part of Alter bridge. That's really cool and explains a lot. They all have good chemistry together. That sounds like an awesome show, they all seem like cool guys

WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP COMPARING THE 2 LOL THEY SOUND NOTHING ALIKE.........in my opinion Scott sounds better.
Russ T
*EXACTLY*
This group is my favorite. The voice is the same always
It's strange in the beginning of this video scott Stapp sounds kinda like a teenager when he talks, but then blasts these huge deep vocals, it's crazy
Human clay is still one of the greatest albums.
2023 still listen to this master piece.
that echo is honestly so badass and adds so much more
Scott stapp is literally the best singer in the world every live performance perfect he's literally never sounded bad
Ehh, look at his 2009 performances. He was pretty crud around then. He’s improved a LOT now days, though.
Scott's Human Clay voice was heavy as shit. Man that's beautiful. Just wow. Tremonti is the reason I bought a guitar too. His tone was money on Human Clay.
For me one of the most powerful voices in rock...
Anyone that was over the age of 10 in the late 90's knows this was the biggest band on the planet. I saw moms and daughters going to shows together. I saw them play to a crowd of 80 thousand people. It was insane. I really don't understand all the hate they get now. I guess it's just cool to hate on things you don't know anything about. You simply cannot listen to this band and think they are bad.
dirtintodust Agree 100%. Human Clay..C'mon!..what an album is that
Limp Bizkit we're bigger
K Bizzy Pearl Jam weren’t adventurous
Jay creed got bigger after their second album but yes those two were the biggest bands on the planet. People hate them because the radio and mtv over played them for two years. Getting over played killed a few artists
K Bizzy not really they were more post grunge heavy rock weathered is way heavier than Pearl Jam. PJ has two good albums honestly. VS’s can’t be listened on repeat multiple times
Human Clay was such a good album. Every song was a banger.
The lyrics are everywhere and I even think he added a bit of a different song in there and it STILL came out killer.
That 90s chorus ride cymbal staple. Love it.
despite popular opinion... creed was a badass band. Tremonti was/is a monster top tier guitarist and stapp was a killer vocalist before he went all crazy
Headles Norseman he still can sing
Tremonti is a killer ax slinger.
Former the music, is not done
He never went crazy
Chris Walker he absolutely went off the wall a bit
They were so good! Scott is extremely underrated.
Say what you will, this guy can friggen sing. This is just amazing how strong a voice he has, so for that we need to give him a little respect. I think you get him in the right mix and he could really do some awesome work.
when a rehearsal becomes the best version of the song.
Please bring back Creed ❤ what an awesome band
I sound just as cool as Scott does..... until I remove my headphones 😥🤣
Solo te great máster Scott ..

Same. I actually used to come pretty close though before my jaw problems. I sounded more like sully from godsmack, but I could do the "what if" part pretty well, now my jaw is messed up and i can't do it tho :(

Scott singing made this band... Try singing like this for an afternoon... Nevermind years.. Haters you have no idea 💡... Let's gooo Creed! ♥️
I completely agree. Scott is a great singer.
Man, what a voice! Raw talent. People who say he sucks or that it's easy, get on a stage and try for yourself 😉
It became cool to hate on Creed and Scott Stapp for a long while but man he had talent, more than any 100 of those haters combined.
Right on!!
It is easy to sing like scott, i know it
David Ysasi vocal range and control is what everyone overlooks. That shit is hard to maintain for a song, let alone a 40 minute gig.
David Ysasi i do feel like he imitated Vedder/Staleys style though. But at least is sounds awesome.
BACK ON TOUR BOYS BUCKLE UP
You can tell this was when they were first writing this song and figuring it out. The words are different and it even seems as though Scott is free styling a bit. To me that’s so awesome, because it’s exactly how I write my songs. I get the melody, and just let lose until something comes out that I can work with. Love this!
Facts
The lyrics seem the same as the cd version
Coming From an Alter Bridge Fan, I also Loved Creed back in the day, I think Scott has a great voice and they made a lot of great songs
Still love the group!!! Mark is killer!!! Look at my pic!!!
This is just a sound test. Look at Scott's dedication. Fantastic!
I'm 1st seeing this video in June 2023 but It's AWESOME to see

Scott Stapp is by far one of the best vocalist to exist. Period. And he still sound phenomenal now.
Hearing it sung so different lyrics and measures and all is so odd but it's amazing to see and hear it becoming the iconic song it is! Scott Stapp and Creed is the balls man I love them.
This song still rocks
I love how scott is mixing up the lyrics that makes it go even HARDER
these lyrics are better imo 😍
I'm a casual fan of Creed, but no one can deny that this practice take was so tight that you feel like you could put these guys in the same room in some studio and they'd knock out a studio-quality take.

I mean guys have feet, which means you have feet...what makes her feet better than yours? Every creed video i check out on yt and read the comments, i realize that pretty much everyone has the same opinion about them-that they were a really great rock band, which ive always thought. The people that hated them were on the bandwagon because it was cool to not like them. The guitar intro and main riff of this song has always been one of my favorites to play 🤘
They were a killer band and I've loved them since the late 90's (and NOT just their hits, but the deep cuts on ALL of their albums).
Hell yeah
That album is phenomenal
I've been praying for Scott for years....I don't know why God has put him so strongly on my heart!
The words in his lyrics worked that miracle no doubt.
I think with the times were in right now....Creed would be a nice pick me up. Scott got everything but the kitchen sink thrown at him....hes a tough dude. MUCH RESPECT.
Because Scott needed Jesus.
God I miss the 90's!
And I missed emo era except MCR - Teenagers, Avril Lavigne. If it will be possible, I would start learning to play guitar and sing since Teenagers or Green Day

Why. Uuuggggg. They sucked. But better than today. Seriously though. I’d give all I have. For the 80’s again.
Me too!
I saw Scott this pass weekend. He is even better now! An epic and powerful voice!
we miss creed in 2019
And in 2021.
One of best intros ever. The guitar, the bass drop, the voice. So glad I was a old teen during this Era!
the jim morrison influence on the vocals here is off the charts. love it.
Man Scott's voice is unmatched!
Love the band....they actually sang about real stuff. Scott has an amazing voice!
It seems like they were still trying to figure out where they wanted the song to go, this is a killer take!
yeah....at times I was like "is Scott drunk and forgetting lyrics and making shit up" lol
pooporkill Many front men do that type of stuff during rehearsals.
No computers, no software, no apps, just raw powerful talent. Doesn’t exist much in 2022.
love Creed! I wish they would Reunite...Scott's got his issues dealt with and the rest of the band has done great things.... REUNION!
Tremonti had years of solo career to proove that he could write memorable and impactful stuff on guitar, but we don't hear any. First AB album rocked, but can be because songs were being worked out with Scott first. I say we don't need Tremonti anymore. And the other two guys? Well, they took their side on the story (or turned the blind eye) and now they pay the price for it.
FeelingShred Scott’s been killing it live
@@FeelingShred Are you insane, deaf or both?! Impactful stuff? Try Blackbird, Cry A River, I Know It Hurts, So You're Afraid, Waters Rising, Bleed It Dry, Brand New Start, Cry Of Achilles.........we don't need Tremonti?.........stop talking out your ass.
It sounds an amazing thing to us fans, but these guys have been going their separate ways for many years. People grow, they just aren't the same people after 15, 20 years, and if they did reunite, it wouldn't be the same Creed we knew because (1) the guys have changed, (2) the musical world is not the same as it was. Not only that, Christianity hasn't become any more socially acceptable in the last two decades. I don't hold out hope of seeing Creed successfully reunite again.
@@FeelingShred impactful is not a word, and Tremonti is a killer musician. I don't know what you're talking about, "don't need Mark Tremonti," but Creed would never be Creed without him.

Awesome rare footage. I can't believe how different the song is. They really tweaked it perfectly.
Stapp switched some words up (either goofing around for sound check or it's an early version). I don't hear any other major differences from the album version though. This is how Scott used to sing. The album version was just WAY too processed and commercial. This is raw.
He's not goofing around. These were the lyrics at the time.

Love watching bands--especially singers--in their prime. I mean holy shot listen to that voice! Love it or hate, to be able to do that sustained gritty tone in pitch like that is freaking incredible and it's also no mystery why he can't do it anymore lol. That'll kill the ol' larynx!
That's one of my favourite things too! I love watching footage of Eddie singing with Pearl Jam in 1990-91. Same with Maynard singing in Tool in 1992. So much youthful energy that their powerful tone comes out effortlessly. It's a joy to behold. This is my first time seeing raw footage of an early Stapp singing and it brought me the same enjoyment :)

I still get goosebumps every time I watch this...it keeps showing up on youtube and I just can't help it. His voice back then was just insane, that scratchy grungy sound when he says "what if" man I just wish he could still sing like that and did that on his more recent solo album. His new album is actually pretty good, but if he did that voice like in the old Creed stuff, man that shit would go just as viral as creed back in the day.
