TOTO - Lea (Full Recreation Cover)

- I always had it mind to do something special for this song as it's become my favourite from TOTO, favourite from Steve Porcaro, and quite possibly, my favourite song of all time. I could talk about it for days but I won't bore you with that. Please allow me to present to you a full recreation of the song, with all instruments and singing recorded and mixed by myself. I tried to stay as faithful as possible with the backing track, using Arturia plugins to emulate some of Steve's favourite synths at the time. I used Oberheim Xa for the strings and flutes and Yamaha DX7 for the keys and bass. I even found a Rhodes sound that I think Steve used to use on his old TX816 racks.
For the guitar, I tried to do something different, mainly due to my limitations of not having a nylon string guitar, but it gave me a chance to try something unique. Going for a Luke and Landau type clean tone for the rhythm (Jackson), and also bluesy one for some of the sax parts and some Luke live embellishments (Charvel). Maybe in the future I can do a faithful cover of the nylon guitar as it's a lovely sound.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy and please excuse the miming but I had to put some 'interesting' visual for the song. It was really fun to learn, record and mix, and it's taught me more about Logic Pro so maybe I can get back to doing my own stuff now. @steveporcaro6136 thank you for such a beautiful song!

Now here's a man who loves Toto ans Def Leppard! I looked back through your entire catalogue and was surprised not to see Purple Rain? I once heard a live, 16 minute version I think... it was off a tape, not RUclips. It was monumentlaly beautiful and epic.. God knows where it is now....
I've done a couple of Prince tunes, and hope to do Purple Rain, but it's been covered quite a lot on here, so no rush to do it just yet.

Interesting syncopation going on with the chords and vocals. You are my source for the deeper Toto cuts. Even though I lived those days I was into other bands more and now am just discovering more of their catalog. Great job all around!

I’ve been waiting for this song to be interpreted by you and for sure lovely executed. This is such a wonderful ballade by Toto (S.Pocaro) and so underrated. There is another one you might try which is called Anna (Lukather).

Absolutely incredible cover. One my favorite TOTO tunes as well. Just incredible all around. I’ve never heard the Luke embellishments, they are gorgeous! He truly is my favorite guitarist ever. are there any recommended live versions I should listen closer to?
Thanks! Well unfortunately it was never played much live and it’s only on the 40 Trips Around The Sun tour that we got an official recording.
