Very solemn moment. Unboxing a new piece of gear at home rates right up there with sex or the first bite of the perfect piece of pizza. I remember the day I brought my Rhodes Mark II home from West L.A. Music in Hollywood when it was located across from Graumanns Chinese Theatre. After stopping in, playing it and chatting with Charlie the salesman for about three months, I had finally saved up the obscene amount of money required to buy my first real keyboard. The twenty minute drive home took days. The excitement, the smell (the explosion of Tolemyte once the box was opened) and finally that mesmerizing sound that for my whole life, I’d only ever heard on the radio or my record player, now originated from my room! Yeah, I was with you the whole unboxing, brother. BTW, that little slice of Michael heaven was an extremely respectful tip of the hat. Well done, Sir. I was inspired to pick up my guitar and learn it as you were playing. It came easy. The spirit of the music was here, today. Can I get an Amen?!!! That was a sweet
Its so good to see new Rhodes being made in the 21st Century. Claudio's custom job just looks so good! The smoky transparent lid reminds me of old record players. And the sound is just so warm, soulful- amazing!
As a tech who has serviced the electronics in the Fender Rhodes, back in the day, I can say for certain, having seen the new one at Synthfest last year, that the new build quality is on a whole different level to the Fender models. Quality and I think a passion for the machine, too.
As a former owner of a 1980's Mark 3 which was built in Mexico to (I thought) a very poor standard I'd certainly hope so. I very much hope the new Rhodes finds a market though personally I won't be paying out £8000 for it. I'm in love with my Nord Grand which does a nice imitation and plenty more, which might be a problem for the new Rhodes; you've got to love it to pay out so much for a one-trick pony.
@@hodghegI also have the Nord. The Rhodes sounds aren’t comparable to this. I own a Rhodes Mk1 Stage 73 I’ve gigged with for many years, but after it got soaked at Glastonbury it stays in the studio now! If I had a spare £8,000 I’d love one of these but as a working musician that’s not likely to happen, especially with gig and session fees the way they are now 😢
This guy seems so happy and content with what he is doing that it's infectious. If I had another lifetime to live, I think I would dedicate it to music.
Play! Bring joy for yourself, and if it does for you, chances are it will for others around you. I'm slowly getting back into music myself after 20+ years. It can be cathartic!
If you should define warmth...this is it! Great to see the enthusiasm of you all when unboxing and plugin the instrument. You can not explain this feeling to friends or your partner, only tot gearheads like us. I loved it!
Such a rich distinctive Rhodes sound. Sooooo many great hits with that instrument. Your playing brought back deep memories of listening to those historical mixes - spot on playing!
Excellent video. I'll admit I cried a little when I heard Michael's isolated vocals with the Rhodes, that was really great at the end. Resurrected a lot of old memories from a bygone era in music and my childhood.
LIVING FOR THE CITY- Stevie Wonder , THE BOTTLE-Gil Scott Heron, FAMILY AFFAIR-Sly and the Family Stone, PUT IT WHERE YOU WANT IT- The Crusaders, REFLECTIONS- Diana Ross and The Supremes made me want to learn piano so I could play a Fender Rhodes.
It' absolutely gorgeous & Sounds even Better. Lots of Luck with it = my favorite keyboard of all time. Nothing like that Rhodes Dreamy Sound. oNe LovE from NYC
If Michael Jackson were alive, I'm sure he would take his hat off to this version of the song. You are the best, no words for this version. Thanks for sharing it with us.😍
The Rhodes has finally got a build to match it's prominence. There is nothing like the Rhodes or B-3. Just an outstanding thing to have a dream version of such a legend with that legendary sound intact and even augmented! Thanks for sharing Claudio! We need tracks now. Pls. 😂
The Rhodes has held a special place in my heart for many years! 🥰 As a professional bassist and small pop/jazz group leader I had a keyboard/pianist who introduced me to the richness and versatility of this instrument! 🔥 When I hear it in a song I immediately recognize it because it always rocks me to my core and warms my heart 😂🥰
Damn, the sound, the style! That pan was hypnotic in my Sony XM4s. Honestly loved it with the clear top and wood finish. A black base with the red top would just take it over the top for me! Lovely playing!
Oh. My. Gosh! I totally got vicarious giddy vibes right along with you guys unboxing this absolute treasure... especially knowing they're made up here in sunny Leeds! Just seeing the joy in your face... awww, may your juicy apple-red Rhodes give you that feeling every time you play it.
Beautiful instrument, when you unwrapped it, I was already thinking: "What? No red lid?!?", but of course, that came afterwards. But... That strong voice of 11-years-old MJ... Got me completely emotional, I like your subtile Rhodes accompaniment really over the original Motown production: it gives so much more room to this superb and powerful kid's voice! Love it! ❤ BTW: if you're getting low on space, be careful putting your keyboard instruments too close to each other: they might replicate... 😉
You should do an interview with Dan Goldman on his personal Rhodes story in addition to the earlier released factory visit. He has Rh😊des in his blood!
What a beauty and what a sound. Makes me remember playing in my old band, where the Rhodes was the main Keyboard. Heavy to carry and building up can make angry. But then there came the first sound! And then i know why we made this 😀 Please Mate, do a longer Video for the crowd!
How do you do this, that magical enchantment, when you play the keys?!?! This is now my new fav video, because of the gorgeous playing of the new Rhodes alongside the amazing voice of young MJJ.. That performance almost had me in tears. You made the music come alive!!! May you continue to stay oh so blessed! Sincerely Adam aka Damyara
Nothing sounds like a Fender Rhodes. I have memories of this sound from a very young age, when my father had and played one. We were talking about this very recently, and he said himself that the sound of the Rhodes was one he really liked. And he's always been picky about his piano sound... And to top it off, he plugged it into a Leslie cabinet 😯
There are two "reference" sounds for Fender Rhodes in my head: Jan Hammer's intro to "Miles Beyond" by the Mahavishnu Orchestra and the first verse of Gary Wright's "Dream Weaver" played by David Foster. My music collection has many other examples of great Rhodes playing but those two stick out. I bought a beat-up Stage 73 in the early 1990s for restoration and I got pretty far with it - I even fabricated new polyurethane hammer tips according to "hot rod" hardnesses. I had the harp frame and tone bars replated early in the process. But it seemed like each step I needed to take got progressively harder to accomplish and I eventually sold it.
GORGEOUS. I am new here, so I don't know if what all you played were originals or established recorded songs, but everything you played made me feel so incredibly goooooood.
I love the tuning and tone of an actual acoustic/electric instrument. Lots of little blemishes and little imperfections that make it sound so incredibly good. 👍🤪
That is a fantastic machine and I love listening to it paired with about 13 or 14 year old Michael Jackson's funky R&B vocals when he recorded "Never can say goodbye". World Class keyboard and vocals.
Thank you for giving us the feeling of buying a brand new Rhodes. It's a feeling we will never have for whatever life reasons come our way, but we felt the joy through you. Thank you!

Beautiful playing, Claudio. Great tune, too. And, that's a gorgeous instrument! I think you really need a clear red top!

how lucky are you to get ya hands on all this gear, ,,,,if only I could afford half or even a 1/4 of wot u have
