  • “When there is a will there is a way.” This beautiful and logical English proverb possesses high wisdom and holds true in the lives of uncountable humans if individuals come in movement with true intentions and strategies. In Persian, a synonymous proverb says: “Dar harakat barakat” (there is a blessing once individuals begin getting mobilized (for great causes). No matter what background one has in terms of his or her education, family, sex, class, region, faith or otherwise but once he or she has a strong will or determination, he or she could get success through the tides of one’s life. It therefore also holds true for Mr. Sarwar Khan son of Muhammad Qazi of Gulmit, Gilgit-Baltistan Region in the Northern Pakistan. Sarwar Khan flees his hometown in the 1950s when he was in his teenage (perhaps 14 or 15.He reaches Central Hunza, gets employed to take care of one of the children of Mir Muhammad Jamal Khan, the last ruler of Hunza State. After one year in Central Hunza, he gets an opportunity to escape further down and reaches Gilgit. After ten days, a non-literate young boy like Sarwar Khan manages to join a Punjabi and reaches Rawalpindi. This Punjabi man thus employs him in his house and he serves his family for a year. Sarwar Khan then moves further down to Lahore and manages to reache Karachi. Afterwards, he strategies to leave Pakistan and settles in Netherland (Holland(.
It was in March 2022, when I conducted the detailed biography orpersonal account of Mr. Sarwar Khan son of Muhammad Qazi of Gulmit. The detail interview of him also reveals the bitter cultural and societal realities of the whole region. He was among the very few people of Hunza, especially Upper Hunza, who migrated to Netherland (Holland) along with his family for the sake of better opportunities and future of his children. He got married thrice. He encountered many challenges and difficulties in his life but never gave up. He continued to face them with high morale and consistent efforts. Although, he could not get his formal and desirous education, he didn’t lose his heart. Instead, he looked at and opted with humility for the skills that will help him through his life. He thus acquired driving car in Karachi in the 1960s and 19y70s. This skill thus took him up in his socioeconomic realm nad got his first marriage with Mrs. Habiba Ali Qasim Ali, an Ismaili of Karachi. They thus spent their life with high zeal and joy. In the later phase of their life, both the couple migrated to Netherland and spent there life after getting the citizenship.
Many interesting, motivating and tragic stories are embedded in the life accounts of Mr. Sarwar Khan. There comes a juncture in life where both the married couple unfortunately disintegrate after great memories of their lives. Out of his first wife, he got four children (two daughters and two sons) including Salima Khan, Samina Khan, Imran Khan and Irfan khan. Late Irfan Khan encountered a tragic accident in a traffic and unfortunately passed away in Netherland(Holland). Mr. Sarwar Khan after dissolution of his conjugal partnership, returns to Pakistan and gets married for the second time in his hometown in Gulmit with Mrs. Latik daughter of Hafiz. When both the couple could not have any child and no hope remained in this regard, his second wife permits and arranges for his third marriage. Mr. Sarwar Khan, while in 50 plus of age thus gets married with his third and young wife Mrs. Noor Shad daughter of Gulistan Khan of Gulmit. The couple thus get cute children including Azima Khan, Alina khan, Muhammad Qazi, Aliza Khan and Irfan khan. It was again so shocking when Mr Sarwar khan lost his sweet and older daughter Azima Khan in her youth (after accomplishing her Master’s degree) due to epilepsy in Gulmit in 2022. It should be noted that this interview I had taken before the death of his late daughter. It was thus not possible for me to publish the videos sooner in such unfavorable circumstances.
This is Part 1 of the video. Other parts of the interview will be published ahead. I hope the viewers would appreciate the genuine efforts of Mr. Sarwar khan and will give a like to his honest discussions. Kindly, dod share the video clips , subscribe the channel and provide your productive feedback in the comment box below.
