Sometimes I like their product, but sometimes I will give it a big thumbs down. Sometimes I use affiliate links, which will be clearly marked. I make a small pittance of a commission when you use said links to purchase the item in question. While I enjoy making RUclips videos and interacting with the viewers, to justify the insane amount of hours I spend planning, filming, editing, uploading, researching, answering comments on YT, answering comments on FB, responding to tweets and emails, I need to make a small bit of money. Otherwise, I'm not someone with a part-time job, I'm an obsessive compulsive beauty/computer freak who has become a bit of a shut-in.

I understand that this video was uploaded 9 years ago but I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. The kicker is, I’ve been telling my doctor about how tired I’ve been for years. He just decided to run the specific test for the T3 &T4 markers after I WROTE him a message on the clinics message board asking if there was some type of testing that could be done to determine why I’m so tired. This didn’t just start for me. I can recall being exhausted in the 7th grade then again in the 11th grade and all throughout my life, just exhausted at times.
He started me on Synthroid which is not good for those with osteoporosis; I have osteoarthritis in my hips and knees. I immediately started aching something fierce. I felt like I was 90 years old!!! Got off that medication against his advice. The medication made me even more lethargic. I recently slept for 12 hours and I’m still tired. I’m trying to get in to see an endocrinologist now. The one he recommended doesn’t have appointments until June 2023.

Its interesting that you had the feeling of coldness because I too have Hypothyroidism and I felt nothing but heat all the time (hence, I wear tank tops all the time). Also, another symptom of hypothyroidism is joint/muscle myopathy, which is something I want to get check out on as well. I want a doctor/specialist to help me get better because the sport I joined requires strength and i can't do it when my joint muscles are hurting.

Excellent video. I have had nearly all the symptoms you described for years, and my health care providers have been telling me "that's peri-menopause" (I am 51). It could be...as the symptoms are so similar. But I switched to a Nurse Practitioner who specializes in menopause, and she thinks that many of my symptoms are more than just starting menopause. Had a bunch of labs drawn yesterday, so now I am waiting for the results. It's like trying to do a puzzle and some of the pieces are missing. Not sure why I feel this way, but hope to have some answers, and a solution, soon. Thanks so much for sharing your story- it is just what I needed today :)

After having my 2nd child at 23, my weight fluctuated. I'd lose 10 or so pounds and gain 10 or so pounds with no change in eating habits, etc. I don't get cold easily but I'm extremely stiff and sore when I stay still for too long. I can't sleep on either side for too long, so I toss and turn all night. I lost my libido at the same time I had my 2nd and last child in '99. I thought it was having my tubes tied that was the issue. My hair was coming out so bad I filled 2 large zip loc bags of hair every week. It would fall out in clumps when I showered and the hair that grew back was frail and flimsy looking. I'm surprised I'm not bald headed because it's been 23 years. I do have a goiter and 3 other cysts on my thyroid, 2 on one side, one on the other found in 2016. I'm still waiting on a biopsy. I had Cushing's and had surgery last year and lost 30 lbs. but I'm stalling at 180 for the last 4 months when I should be around 140. Thank goodness I carry my weight well. I most definitely have no motivation to do anything and it's very frustrating. I'm ready to actually live again.

I have hypothyroidism since i`m 22 years old, now i`m 53 with Hashimoto, i currently take Levothyroxine 137 mcg, my advice is 1 - get a good endocrinologist, 2 - educate yourself on a diet plan, 3- exercise daily if possible to help with weight and to make you sleep better at night, what has helped me thru all these years is to stay active with work, stay active like gardening, shopping, cleaning the house, walk trails, bike rides, you must get thru the fatigue barrier, i know its hard but you must keep your mind occupied, also stop caffeine drinks, thank you bless.

I went to a DR for some blood tests a few days ago and am awaiting the results. I'm most certainly sure that I have hypothyroidism, though. I'm 18 and 3 months ago my hair started thinning and falling out significantly (2/3 of it is gone), along with my period coming 2x/month. They both started happening around the same time. I also randomly gained 30 lbs in 3 years (went from 109-138lbs) even though I've done nothing different (if anything I eat way better now than then). I've cut done on carbs and calories and have seen no change in my weight. I was working out too, but stopped after 3 months due to being discouraged about seeing zero weight loss.

Hello, Thank you for being considerate & trying to educate others with your experience. I am 56 years old & was diagnosed with Thyroid disease in my 20's. What people need to understand with Hashimoto's is that it is an autoimmune disease. The T4 synthetic hormone may help ease the symptoms but is does nothing to address the fact that the immune system is attacking & destroying the protein in the thyroid blood cells. Something triggers the autoimmune attack and Western Medicine & health professionals do not know how to 'turn off' the autoimmune disease once it has started. They only know how to supress the immune system to slow down disease progression. I have been reporting the same thing to Doctors, including specialists, since my early 20's. I have every symptom but because I have had it a long time & it is a progressive disease, my symptoms are X 10 compared to someone who has had it a short time. My recent blood test came back 'in normal range' however the government restricts how many blood tests they can perform for Hashimoto's. My thyroid peroxidase anti bodies are >13000 instead of < 60. The limit the lab can test to is 13000 therefore my TPAB are off the charts. The reason why Doctors rarely test for anti bodies is because they don't do anything about it anyway. Before anyone makes the usual suggestions regarding diet & gluten please believe I have tried everything I possibly can toimprove my quality of life. I am no longer able to work or ride my horse due to debilitating symptoms. I do not want to frighten anyone but Hashimoto's can be for some people a devastating chronic illness that has very little understanding with Doctors. Most Doctors believe it is a mild disease that is easily treated by replacing T4 only synthetic thyroid hormone. T 4 is converted to T3 in the body & it's T3 that is absorbed in to the cells to maintain wellness. If that process is not happening or if T3 is not being absorbed in to the cells then a person will have symptoms the same as if they were not being treated. Untreated Hashimoto's can be very dangerous. It can lead to coma and a potential life threatening emergency. Anyone who has been diagnosed with Hashimoto's needs to educate themselves thoroughly about their illness. It is a fact that prenatal toxic exposure on the fetus in the first trimester can cause chronic illness later in life. The developing thyroid, thymus & brain can be disrupted and the consequences are not evident until much later. Anyone wanting to have a baby needs to educate themselves about toxic exposure in the first trimester. Including the father & preferably before conception. We are being poisoned by eating the vegetables that have been sprayed with Glysophate. Glysophate is better known as Round Up but the one farmers are sold are much stronger than the brand we can buy from hardware stores for home use. GMS's are resistent to glysophate & only the weeds in the cultivation die. The vegetables we buy from supermarkets absorb glysophate in to the plant itself. It can not be washed off & broccoli is sprayed more than any other plant. I have witnessed this myself as I live in the Lockyer Valley where much of Australia's small crops are grown. This is one of the reason's why we are seeing so much ADHD, Autism, ASD, Thyroid disorders & autoimmune disease in our children. Please educate yourselves & I wish you all the best.

This may be your issue as well... I was diagnosed with Hashimotos at age 16. Started off taking Synthroid, switched to Levothyroxine and it worked fine for years. After my first child my symptoms came back and they switched me back to Synthroid. That worked fine for a decade or so then not long after I turned 40 my symptoms came back with a vengance. Found a new endo who told me that it was likely that the fillers in both Levothyroxine and Synthroid were preventing my body from absorbing the medication. She switched me to TYROSINT which looks like a little round vitamin E tablet and has no fillers. That made a world of difference but I still didn't feel quite right. I then found out that the majority of people who have hypothyroidism also have some level of gluten intolerance. Off of gluten I went. I chose to go low carb, moderate protein, and high fat instead of buying all the "gluten free" junk they have available. Fast forward two years and I am SO much better. My last blood tests resulted in an actual decrease in my Tyrosint dosage. It's worth asking your endo about. Good luck!

The tiredness is very scary because I had no energy for anything - I am back to the gym this week - and as of today cutting out the sugar which I had incorporated again, and going to eaight more fresh fruites and vegetables again - I find it difficult to eliminate meat during the cold weather - I am also going to order Ashwaganda herbs ,and licorce root, eat more Brazil nutes and artichokes, and bananas etc.

The mother took notice that I would raise the temperature in the house because I would become extremely cold. She asked if I had a thyroid problem and I told her yes. She asked me what medication I was taking for it and told her levothyroxine. She said that the best way to take the medication is separately from other medications and 30 minutes before eating anything. I hope that helps someone out there who is struggling with the symptom of being very cold all the time.

This is pretty good advice but what this lady is saying about Hashimoto's is not strictly true. I have Hashimoto's and I DON'T feel fine even though my THS levels are 'normal'. I have symptoms that swing between Hyper and Hypothyroid symptoms. My doctors, and places like the Mayo Clinic, would say I am perfectly fine, even though my thyroid is under constant attack from my immune system and I have horrible, debilitating symptoms. If you have normal THS levels and you still have problems it could be that you are having problems converting T4 to T3, or there could be something else going on. She is right that you need to go and demand more in depth tests but I would say, when researching, go beyond established sources because they won't necessarily tell you what you actually need to know. A good research source is PubMed, which is a data base of peer-reviewed research material. Good luck!

I have hypothyroidism since birth so i have been taking levothyroxine since I was born and I mean since birth as in my parents breaking the pill in half and they let half of the pill dissolve in water since I was only allowed to have half of a pill everyday.

I’m 43, and was just diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I had no idea…what made me go to my doctor, was a period that was so heavy, I thought I was bleeding to death. It scared me, and my doctor seen me that day. They took blood work, and did an endometriosis biopsy. All tests came back okay, except thyroid, and high cholesterol. He just called me in some Levothyroxine today. I’m going to take it tomorrow morning. I knew something was wrong. I sleep 10/12 hours a day, and it’s not enough. I wake up exhausted still. Hair has been falling out like crazy, nails have been breaking, dry skin, zero sex drive, no motivation, tremendous weight gain, memory loss….it makes so much sense now. I’m nervous, but scared about the medicine. Praying it works! Praying you feel better too!

I have hypothyroidism too and I struggle with the same symptoms. Unfortunately. My periods are normal, but around that time I don't wish to do a thing, and my hair thinned out. Now I am using henna to color my hair. I have weight I am having a very hard time to lose and exercise weekly. It is frustrating.

OK I don't know if your Endo has told you this but a change in your Synthroid medicine levels could also result in the migraines as much as it can be a result of Hypithyroidism. It happened to me...and I have an excellent Endo. Also make sure you get enough iodine and Vitamin D3. I'm not a doc either but I was born without a thyroid gland so I have had this condition literally all of my life well at least since I was 3 months of age. ;-) I' ve done so much research on all the different thyroid conditions (and that research data has even changed over the years) that I feel like I probably could write a book on it.😄

I was just diagnosed, and while searching for help, I stumbled across your video. Let me just say THANK YOU so much for sharing your story. I've seen dozens of medical videos explaining why my body isn't working right, but to hear a real person explain in detail exactly what I'm going through makes me feel so relieved and Happy. It also gives me confidence that I'm not alone and I'm not crazy when I feel so tired and lethargic. So thank you again.

Lisa, how are you doing these days? I am newly diagnosed so I am curious about those who have had it for at least a year. I sure hope you found a great Dr. and the medication that works best for you. Keep up on taking care of yourself. IF you are feeling well enough to respond that would be much appreciated. However I know how fatigue can be a need for rest. Thanks, do what is best for you!! Heather

Thank you for sharing this! I've got so much of those symptoms (Weight fatigue cholesterol (and i'm 20! :O) being cold hair loss dry skin and eyes)... I got blood tests yesterday and i'm going to get results tomorrow. The bad thing (I live in Quebec Canada) is that my doctor is soooo hard to see! (1 year to get an appointment and it's my general practician...) and if we have our 'familly doctor' we cant change for any reason except HUGE reasons. so i had to go to the emergency (Since we dont have any 'clinics' or 'no appointment doctors' and it was the only way i could see a doctor haha) and argue with the doctor there to get prescription to do lab works hahaha :( and he got me an appointment with my doctor (so lucky!) after making me cry because he made me feel so bad to consult at the emergency for this :( Well see :) BTW. you look way younger that you are haha you are gorgeous :) xxxxx

I think people should not jump into the synthetic drugs wagon so fast, especially if they have a choice and time to evaluate drugs out there. Euthyrox almost killed me due to the excipient lactose present in it. This is how I started to learn I was celiac - it was a process. With dietary adjustments I worked it out and my thyroid function improved. Now I'm not taking anything. Just to clarify, I wasn't hypothyroid, just low thyroid within the normal range, however being pregnant, I was put on thyroid hormone to prevent any possible harm to my baby.

Thank you for sharing about low thyroid issues. The thyroid gland in women is often exhausted after the childbearing years. The thyroid gland needs nutritional support such as adequate nutrients in iodine, selenium, calcium, iron, B-complex vitamins, sodium, potassium, magnesium, zinc, vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin C, vitamin D.
It makes sense why? Each pregnancy depletes the mothers' bodies of important nutrients which are transferred to the babies. The mothers end up with a nutritional deficit. The mothers' nutritional reserves need to be restored after each pregnancy and breastfeeding period. The mothers cannot perform at best performance levels if their reserves are on empty. One would not expect a vehicle to run on an empty gas tank. The human body is the same. Men do not create another human being so they are never depleted in the same way as women. Men and doctors need to be more supportive of the human-miracles making bodies of women.

I started out with hyperthyroidism or Graves’ disease. When I did go to the Dr he told me I would have been dead in six months without treatment. I took a radioactive pill to shrink the thyroid. I was good for about 3 years and then I started on Synthroid and I am good. I have been on different strengths, but I have been on the same dose for years now. You do have to find a Dr who listens and one who specializes with this problem. Thanks 🙏

Thank you for your thyroid video. I'm dealing with exactly that now including no libido and depression. I just saw a new endocrinologist and I'm sure he will put me on Levothyroxine or Synthroid. Did your libido and depression symptoms improve once your thyroid med started working? I was diagnosed with Hashis five years ago, but knew nothing then. I now realize all my symptoms are related. Just trying to get back the person I used to be. Hoping you can share that your symptoms improved to give me some hope. I don't have friends with these issues so it's difficult to find someone who understands. So happy I found your video today. Keep posting and thank you for sharing your story.

Great video. Thanks. I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidsm and Hashimoto´s. My TSH was 21 !!! They increased over the years the dosage of levothyroxine up to 150 mcg. Then to my surprise I found out this year I was suffering from Hyperthyroidsm as my TSH levels were 0.08 :-( No wonder I felt so horrible. It´s been a battle and there are days that I feel very sick , the doctors have lowered the levels of the medication so I am waiting until my next test to see if it´s working.
I read in another of your videos that you are also taking Cytomel, I´ve never been prescribed it so I´ll ask my Dr about it.
I appreciate what you are doing .
    Best wishes.

Going through that now. From hypo to hyper, which was horrible while overmedicated, stopped for two weeks ,tested again and now hypo again TSH 29. The highest I've ever had. Interestingly I feel OK and when I take levothyroxine I feel unwell. I'm lost at this stage 😢

Right now my TSH is 0.12 and my T4 and T3 are 11.0 and 4.0. The T4 doesn't even hit the optimal range and T3 just hits it. My doctor and naturopath want to lower my medication if my TSH doesn't change but the thing is, this is the best I've ever felt in my life. When your TSH is suppressed it can mean 4 different things- iron, adrenals, you need to up your medication, or you have an issue with your pituitary gland. Most doctors, especially general doctors, are not familiar with this, they just assume you need to lower the dose of your medication. If my TSH does not change, I am contemplating medicating myself with thyrogold. TSH, T4, and T3 are not an accurate prediction of how your body is metabolizing the medication. I could have hypothyroidism on the cellular level, I could not be converting T4 into T3 properly, I could have reverse T3 issues or an issue with my pituitary, etc. I don't want to rely on my doctors anymore because they don't know everything and they won't test for everything when you are having issues.

Emily Schranck less than 1% , like me, are allergic/anaphylactic towards iodine...
Not many doctors 🥼 tend to test people for this and instead of helping they end up doing more damage to the thyroid...
