Thanks Dr Gupta, another very interesting video. I was diagnosed 10 years ago with hypothyroidism and prescribed 75mg Thyroxin. 5 years later, diagnoses type 2 diabetes along with high blood pressure. Never appreciated the link between them. All meds taken religiously as I continue the battle with weight control. Through your videos I have a far better understanding of it all which gives me more confidence. Matt, Keto diet is good advice. Also some people can not convert the T4 to T3, so even though you take Thyroxin it might not be working for you. Look up "Stop The Thyroid Madness" for more information.

    • @bonniecandace
      @bonniecandace 4 года назад +1

@Vasanthi No don't stop thyroid medication, "Stop the Thyroid Madness" is a book that explains that the medical "standard of care" for hypothyroidism is not working. Levothyroxine is T4 only and the body needs T3. If your body cannot convert T4 to T3 you are effectively without Thyroid hormone. If you are a person who cannot convert, you need to add T3 to the T4 or take Natural Desiccated Thyroid.

Thank you for this crucially informative video, Dr Gupta! Symptoms of Hypothyroidism, can sometimes be so vague that, as you point out, it can be difficult to diagnose. I found my own hypothyroidism some years ago by reading voraciously about my own symptoms ( tiredness, hair loss and brittle nails and higher than desirable TSH readings, but had to nag my original PCP about it. Levothyroxin ( Synthroid) for a year did NOTHING for me as I was not “ converting” T4 to T3 so I asked for Armour and that worked for awhile until they changed the formula. My current ( excellent and younger) PCP has me on a gm. of Naturethroid per day and that it working just fine! Thank you for broadening our knowledge of so many areas we would otherwise be uninformed of, and thus less healthy than we have the potential to be!

Dr. Gupta thank you so much for this video. It clarified a lot about Hypothyroid, high blood pressure, and high triglycerides. I had a endocrinologist tell me that these things had nothing to do with my thyroid condition. I didn’t appear to have any of these problems until my thyroid went crazy. (I have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis so my condition appears to be a result of that) Your advice is very empowering. It is time to find another endo and have them check my meds because these things re not abating despite rigorous lifestyle changes. Thank you for all that you do. Dr Gupta - Thank YOU, for all you do for us! I have just discovered your channel and watch several videos per day, to identify the cause(s) of my recent, PERSISTENT ectopic beats. Your video on inflammation is key for me, as well as this one on hypothyroidism. While I currently don't present with the more commons symptoms of hypothyroidism, I will have a blood test to see exactly what my levels are. In the meantime, I am focusing on reducing inflammation, primarily via a couple "bad things that I put in my body" - I have always exercised a lot, get out in the sun, eat fermented foods, and have a "clean diet"... but there definitely are areas in which I can improve - including SLEEP. Thanks again!

I have ALL the symptoms you mentioned but every time I tell a doctor that I think it’s hypothyroidism they blow me off and say, NO it can’t be because all your thyroid hormones are normal. It’s easier for them to say I’m fat, tired, depressed and have high blood pressure because I’m overeating even though I told them that I only eat once a day and that’s dinner. They’ve basically call me a liar by saying things like calories in calories out. They want to put me on blood pressure medication but I refuse because I know what I eat and I refuse to let them put a bandaid on the problem and make me more sick by putting me on a lot of unnecessary medication if they would just listen to me and perform other tests or try giving me thyroid medication to see if it helps.
I even told them that I took my temperature in the morning under my arm before I get up and it’s anywhere from 93.6 to 96.9, which only proves that I have hypothyroidism. They just ignore me; so now I refuse to let them weigh me because if they don’t care what’s causing my weight gain and other hypothyroidism symptoms I’m not going to let them criticize my weight gain and let them continue shaming me because that only makes me more depressed.
I can hardly walk anymore because I get so out of breath just walking 50’ or going up 10 steps!
    I feel like I’m dying!!!😢
I’m not saying this about ALL doctors but when did medicine become all about the all mighty dollar?
Most doctors don’t work for the patients anymore they work for the insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies!
It’s rare to find a good doctor that will put their patients FIRST and do what’s best for them and their health and do everything within their power and abilities to get them well again.
Sorry but that’s the truth because I’ve seen it first hand when I was in the medical field and of course as a patient. It literally makes me sick what’s happened to medicine!

I didn’t have hair loss, I still had my thick long hair, but many aren’t so lucky.. the hair loss eventually comes if hypo progresses without treatment. Ive also just been taken off my hormone pills due to turning 51, and I’m scared things will worsen due to this. I’ve also had high total cholesterol, although my LDL to HDL ratio is VERY good, I’m told. Very tricky disease, indeed.

I got adult onset type one diabetes at age 55 from too much sugar and had a TSH thyroid test which was normal , but after listening to Dr. Richard Bernstein’s Tele seminars, I learned that most of his diabetic patients have hypothyroidism and I had the symptoms. It took me a while to convince my practitioner that I needed a free T3 & free T4 thyroid test which is quite different from the TSH test. I was 15 points below low normal! I am now on generic Synthroid medication and I am beginning to feel much better. I do believe you concur with Dr. Richard Bernstein. He invented the basal bolus method of insulin and distributed the first diabetic meters. I love the man. My diabetic numbers are under control for the first time in 13 years. I do believe the ADA was bought off. Most everything they say is wrong including most meters. Thank you for explaining this in further detail. Dr. Richard Bernstein does live teleseminars every month and is on RUclips as well. I listen as often as possible.

Barbara Mowrey WHAT YOU SAID! 👍😁I’m also diabetic ( T2) and also adore Dr Bernstein. The man is a true genius! I’m also a great admirer of Dr Gupta and have learned so much practical information from him. I love the way he explains complex medical facts ( and hypotheses) so that lay people can become informed and become able to be better informed patients! AND LEAD HAPPIER, HEALTHIER LIVES! 😁🥳

M 20 I too got hypo high high level, TSH was 100+ severe Anxiety and high BPM and PALPITATIONS and panic attacks and gas bloating and fatigue weaknesses muscle pain low appetite. Just back from hospital with high blood pressure. Apparently my heart and arteries are fine. In fact because they can find no fault on ECG, ultrasound or bloods, they suspect the one thing that's off. TSH is 11. I told them it's been much higher in the past 12 years and I never had tight chest nor high BP that I was aware of until the past week. I am known to skip medication if I think it's too near a coffee or a meal and always wanted to heal my thyroid, suspecting it's full of oxalates from a plant based diet. Anyway, today's scare and your information will have me taking my meds more keenly. In 12 years no endocrinologist could be bothered to explain to me the risks I might be at. Stroke was mentioned years ago but with zero explanation. Thanks.

Thank you so much for making these videos. I have Hashimoto’s and have experienced many of the things you mentioned. I need a new cardiologist and was in the process of getting started with one when the Corona virus hit. My former cardiologist had told me that I have POTS but never tried to find out why I have it. I have noticed, some days, that I have pitting edema in my lower legs after being on my feet a lot during the day. You have helped me understand things better and that encourages me to press on in getting in to see a cardiologist who will work with my endocrinologist. Thank you!

I'm a health professional in the industry for nearly 30 years and have studied functional medicine for the last decade. Why do women have hypothyroidism more than men? Because of estrogen in the majority of cases! Estrogen BLOCKS the uptake of iodide to the thyroid and without adequate iodide women will not only suffer with hypothyroidism, they will also suffer from uterine fibroids, cysts, polyps/endometriosis, fibrocystic breasts, and so on. One thing leads to another and eventually you could end up with cancer. The fix? Iodine/Iodide! Much more to this, but will stop here since this comment is getting lengthy.

Monitoring my TSH and has been subclinical (6.2 units) after 8 weeks. I am attributing this to a specific yoga and medication. Not sure if there is a relationship but will keep checking TSH another 4 week & 8 weeks.

Thank you Dr Gupta. I have hypothyroidism, and take 100mcgs daily.
I'm considering taking Magnesium Taurate for my hypertension because of the side effects from Amlodopine 5mgs, reducing it to 2.5mgs, which I struggle with. My GP has suggested I take Ramopril 2.5mgs but this also has side effects.
I have taken Magnesium Citrate for cramps, and it also helps me relax, and sleep better. My body tolerates it well.
I think you mentioned 500mgs daily Magnesium Taurate for cardiac patients in a previous video.
