I am 67 and was recently diagnosed with afib; my "ecotopic beats" are constant - I feel no discomfort from them, save for the knowledge that I have them. I had an echo showing NO abnormalities with my heart. I am a life-long athlete - runner for 47 years - I stopped this with the advent of afib, but continue to walk 10 miles/day. I am heartened to hear that you have been living with afib for 45 years; I have curtailed my physical activities (rowing, elliptical, running, etc) because of the CONDITION - not due to any discomfort that I have. I have a consult with Dr. Gupta on March 3, so hopefully I will get positive feedback that will allow me to resume my normally VERY ACTIVE lifestyle. Been taking CoQ10 for close to 30 years. Last year all of a sudden my BP went to 90/40, I was in heart failure, and I needed my aortic valve replaced. In replacing it my surgeon found a 5mm hole in a leaflet of my aortic valve. I also had a bicuspid valve instead of a tricuspid valve. Although I went through a catheterization and a TEE the cardiologists did not find the 5mm hole that was in my leaflet of the valve. I recovered, but still wonder if CoQ10 helped me all through the years of having a hole in my heart.

God bless this man! I'm 61 at present and became aware of a fluttering sensation in my chest in 2021. I already had a Kardia device and it showed my heart was not in normal sinus rhythm, but nothing specific. So, I subscribed to the premium version and it told me they were PAC/PVCs. Needless to say I was extremely alarmed because my history with my Dad is Afib and ultimately a pace maker. He lived to be 91! I went to my cardiologist and they ran a holter for 24 hours and I had a about 3,000 ectopics out of roughly 100,000 beats. That is about 3%. My Doc said that unless the ectopic burden gets up to around more than 20% they don't even "get interested." He even said that an echo was optional at that point. Needeless to say I was relieved, but that nagging worry persisted as the fluttering continued. Some days I would just sit most of the day frozen in fear. I happened upon Dr Gupta who has honestly changed my life with his reassurances. I still have them and a few really give a kick, but I just carry on with Dr Gupta's words echoing in my head. I can successfully ignore most of them now.

Except for MRI, Electro study, and exercise test (all my doctors said were not needed), all were OK. The only big problem I had was VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY (mine was 16 while normal numbers need to be around 45-70.). My doctor put me on 4k UI D3 every day for a few months and then 2k UI a day for 5-6 months. In about 1-2 months period, my ectopic burden of PVC, PAC, doublets, and triplets (a total of 700 extra beats per 24H houlter) reduce to 8-10 beats a day, most of the days being simple beats. I was low in vitamin D because my work and life are mostly indoors for years and years....and I am not a very active guy. I am 50 years old and overweight. I used to be very active, with great muscular mass, and I used to make about 40 km per day on my bicycle and also 10-15 km per day walking. Every day for more than 20 years. I split the dosage, taking 60mg in the morning and another 60mg in the evening. Surprisingly, this almost completely eliminated my ectopic beats. I still occasionally experience one or two, but they are rare. It's important to note that this is my personal experience and may not work for everyone. And I have just started taking 5htp (a pre curser to serotonin- do your own reading on it before taking it folks) and it has been a game changer. I don’t 100% know how- but for me calming my nervous system a bit has meant far less PVCs. Better than the beta blockers I was on!

Thankyou Dr Gupta for this video. I have been suffering ectopic heartbeats for 6 months now and have been to my local Hospital and have seen my GP all of whom say it is not dangerous but it feels as if it is. I am taking a comprehensive multi vit every day plus CoQ10 and it has lengthened the periods of normality but not stopped it yet. Despite that it is happening for 12 hours of every day. It doesn't happen at night and when I wake up it is normal but then I worry when it will start and it does. I can do the running up 5 flights of stairs in less than a minute so I know I don't have a diseased heart. The odd thing is when I do excessive exercise it beats normally while I do it. I can now relax a lot more now you have explained it all. Very many thanks.

Did you know that a loose tooth crown or infected root of a tooth can cause PVCs? Someone went through 3 years of PVCs where their heart skipped a beat every 4-5 beats, they were in perfect health otherwise but while investigating the PVCs, they noticed during two of the Zio patches they wore for 2 weeks at a time, that the PVCs went down from 15-20% down to 0.1% over the 2 week period while on antibiotics. This was because of an infected root canal (no symptoms but seemed to be Loose crown > led to infected root canal > entire tooth removal. The entire tooth removal stopped the PVCs entirely. After some research, I saw other people in online blogs had been through the same. This should be published in a journal and doctors made aware that with especially generally healthy and younger people, the cause of PVCs could be hidden infection/inflammation. Happy to help you with this. Your channel is great, thanks for all you do.

I have tooth infection too. So i am now confused whether ectopic beats are happening due to some infection or anxiety.

I had a 3-day halter come back as okay I had a echocardiogram come back as okay and I had a stress test on a treadmill come back as okay. Unfortunately I wasn't given any details on the test but just that they were okay by voicemail left by my family doctor secretary. "Your test came back normal". This was somewhat reassuring for the time being however I sometimes wake up at night around 5:00 or 6:00 a.m. having many ectopics. Sometimes even 2 or 3 within 10-15 seconds. This gives me great anxiety when it occurs even though the tests were "normal". During the day it seems there aren't as many. But sometimes there are.

However , one major question left to resolve for me which I am sure will eliminate my anxiety completely is when the ectopic beat occurs every other beat, maybe for several minutes (called Bigemy) and then reduce for say a few hours with the ectopic every 3-10 beats. ‘Bigemy’ episode could be damaging for my heart. I also suffer from short episodes of SVT.

I've had ectopic beats all of my life and I'm now 58 years old. Unfortunately, I got pulsatile tinnitus when I was 53 years old; possibly a result of jumping out of a plane at over 12,000 feet. That means I can hear my ectopic beats as well as feel them. That can be very disconcerting!
I had various tests, etc. and my ectopics were considered benign.
Two things I've found with my ectopics:
    * They never occur during exercise when I have higher heart rates. My resting heart rate is typically around 50-55 and I only ectopics when resting.
    * Going on a low carb diet appears to have significantly reduced ectopics. Might be coincidental, but that is what happened.
For anyone out there that also has pulsatile tinnitus, which is an unfortunate combination to have with ectopics:
    * For me, when my blood pressure is *lower* my tinnitus is more obvious. At 120/80, I don't hear it much. When the tinnitus is louder I might hear ectopics more, then my blood pressure is coincidentally more likely to be 110/70.
    * Caffeine reduces my tinnitus a bit, but that is not a lot of caffeine. Just a cup of instant coffee.
    * Potassium supplementation (1.4g potassium citrate in 450ml water) reduces my pulsatile tinnitus a lot! The potassium is not enough to noticeably affect my blood pressure and yet somehow it reduces the pulsatile tinnitus.
These days I rarely notice my ectopics.

    • @trail.blazer
      @trail.blazer Год назад

@@alaskawanderings8518 I've never had a scan, but I was seen by a specialist and the diagnosis was considered benign. Not anything like an embolism, tumor, etc.
The first occurrence was not long after doing a sky dive. The pressure on the way down caused me significant ear discomfort and hearing loss for a few weeks afterwards. I suspect the pressure might have damaged a blood vessel.
Subsequently it became more persistent for longer periods and then became permanent. Very loud wooshing, so that i couldn't hear properly and then also had a bad episode of eptopics.
Maybe give potassium citrate a go? My full dose is 1.4g twice a day in water and the result is miraculous. Less is not enough and more doesn't give additional improvement. The effects last for over 24 hours, but I once missed a weekend and was badly wooshing again by the Monday.
Before anyone talks about potassium rich foods, potassium from foods did not work in the slightest. Only a supplement ever worked.
