My cattledog got bit in the upper part of her front right leg by a large aggressive dog yesterday while on the trail. Two punctures and obvious swelling associated with soft tissue damage. Several hours after the incident she would not place any weight on it and would just lay down. She was in obvious painful distress. After 3 applications of this using same process but with fresh green bockng 14 comfrey leaves from our garden she is now walking normally and wants to play in the yard. I did not put the compress over the punctures but below them all the way down to her pads. I used a very thick terry washcloth that held a lot of the tea and I left it on for at least 30 minutes because her fur is quite thick and I wanted ro make sure it had a chance ro wet and absorb into her skin. Both my partner and I are amazed. Thanks so much!

I got hit by a car, while on my walk, my bone was poking out of my skin. I got comfrey on it as soon as they took off the cast (only two weeks later) they did put a rod down my bone. but on my first recheck he could see the bone healing. My ribs they said would hurt the longest and I got comfrey on them the first day home from the hospital ( and they don't hurt at all). after only 2 months I am walking, not long walks yet.

The Amish in Wisconsin eat one medium sized leaf per day for the health benefits. They put peanut butter on them. (I have heard since that consuming too much comfrey can cause liver damage, but one leaf per day shouldn't hurt...however, I am not a Dr. so try this at your own risk but my family and I did it for years)

Don't listen to the fear around internal consumption! There's only been one "clinical study" done on 6 week old rats and they were fed comfrey extract (not the plant itself, but an extremely concentrated form of it) to make up 40% of their diet.
Of course they got sick! That is like feeding a 250kg man 30 years worth in one go... ridiculous. The case studies are equally as absurd. It's because big ph4rm4 can't make $$ off it, so these ev!l giants ban it instead. Very typical behaviour for them

I put the mash on the bee sting, covered it with the other and a bandana to hold it in place. Just a half hour later, the pain was gone and much of the swelling too! I sure could have used this a couple weeks ago. Had a nasty fall and did the worst possible thing by putting my hands out to catch myself. Since I am very obese that meant a lot more weight coming down on it.
Even though there was a lot of pain I initially didn't think it was broken. By the time my DIL (nurse practitioner) saw it she had absolutely no doubt it was broken in multiple places and after cleaning up some wounds they tried to stabilize it which made me realize the location of the first break. Anyway to make a long story short I am trying to get my home ready to sell and this has definitely put some limitations on me and I am a slow healer. Once I get into the new home I am definitely going to have to start growing this for the future.

Wow! What a treasure you have! I have a small area for comfrey-perhaps 2 1/2 feet square, and I harvest a lot. Right now (9/16/2021) I am pulling large leaves, drying them in my bedroom on a tarp, and crushing the dry leaves by hand. I then ‘poach’ them in avocado oil.
Ace hardware ordered me a thin enameled double boiler, about $20. I fill the top pot about 3/4 full of dry comfrey leaves- crumbled by hand-and then add a 24-ounce bottle (3 cups) of avocado oil.
I add water to the bottom pot, bring it to a boil, and then turn down the heat so the base pot just barely simmers.
I place the the upper pot of comfrey and oil over the barely simmering water.
Do not allow the water in the base pot to come in contact with the upper pot.
After several hours, my candy thermometer registers 200 degrees Fahrenheit-for a respectable amount of comfrey oil.

Why not just add enough water to reconstitute the herbs and then put them into a poultice? Seems like you might be losing a lot of herb's power this way. But if you have any spare space at all having fresh comfrey around 3/4 of the year should be easy enough and then all you have to do is smash the leaves up and apply them right to the injury.

I'm not an expert, but I'd imagine it would take a lot of herb to make 3 poultices a day. Using water carries it and I don't think the constituents are less powerful in this medium. We don't drain the water, so some herb bits do get on the skin, and after getting a few soaked towels out of the tea, I use the rest of the soaked herb itself directly on the skin in the last application before making the next batch of tea. :)

Salves rubbed on the skin CANNOT affect the bone deep below, whether they are made from comfrey, snake oil or fairy dust! Skin is waterproof for a reason! So we don't absorb everything we touch in our environment.
Bones will heal themselves when the diet is correct.
For bones, this means abundant natural foods, rich in essential fatty acids, saturated fats, fat-soluble vitamins A, D & E, and more calcium than phosphorus.
Carolyn's family already eats a wonderful diet including all these things, which would be why a frasctured boner would heal quickly.
Children's bones heal much faster than older peoples'.
Most older people already have osteopaenia, which is a tendency to reduced calcium content in the bones.
Next step after that is osteoporosis, qwhich is when there is very little calcium left in the bones. Then, they are very susceptible to breaking, and very difficult to heal.
The very best way to stimulate bone healing is to eat lots of these foods every day :
Whole milk, cream, butter (NOT margarine), cheese, salmon, sardines, cod liver oil, green leafy vegetables, bone broth, and take calcium gluconate supplements.
Also required is a high intake of Vitamin C, from natural sources such as citrus, black currants, raw green vegetables, red peppers, and other fruits.
      What to stop eating :
Anything high in Phosphorus. That includes bread, cakes, rice, barley, biscuits, cookies, cereal, pasta, anything grain or flour based.
Coffee. Soft drinks. These both dissolve and excrete calcium from the body.

@@rubygray7749 ACTUALLY there are a lot of very toxic things that can be absorbed through the skin which is why you wear gloves.... so please don't tell people their skin is some how resistant to anything.
i get it that you're an anti-grain revolutionary, i was too once. but you need to realize that bread isn't the killer.... being a fat lard pig who over eats and doesn't move is the problem.
civilizations advanced because of their ability to grow, harvest and store grains. it allowed them to settle down and thrive. but they also had livestock...which also ate the grain in winter..... you use fewer resources when you're not a nomad chasing roving herds of bovids across continents. the american indians hadn't quite caught on to that though they were starting, and they paid dearly for it later.
People today are going backwards in progress for several reasons and they too will pay dearly.
The difference between now and back then is people don't do a whole lot of anything to earn their food. they sit at a computer all day long, drive home and order fast food. which is consumed in front of their tv sets. the heart attacks, cancer, diabetes, obesity, allergies and weak immune systems are supposedly progress lol
You have to balance everything. we're omnivores.
I personally don't eat bread very often because i like it a little TOO much..... i can eat a whole box of donuts in one sitting.
No i am not 1200 lbs... i am actually very lean and active. but it just seemed like a bad idea to eat a whole flippin box of donuts. now i limit them and other items to maybe twice a year and try to only eat what i grow on my farm....

Ignore Ruby’s comment about snake oil. What rubs on your skin enters your body. Many things are absorbed thru the skin, or will Ruby suggest nicotine patches are useless? If you soak your feet in magnesium chloride it will go into your body via the skin and improve any magnesium deficiency. Any oil salves also are absorbed. If not, why are ointments made…for the fun of it?
Yes, the nutrition will work, but Ruby needs to read a few more comments by people telling that it did heal breaks and injuries by rubbing comphrey infused oil on.

punctures are the danger. i have personally used it on abrasions, cuts, blisters and even pimples from hell..... you know, the ones that look like you've been shot in the face with a pellet gun?
i always hesitated at first but became a believer when my husband broke his leg. nothing terrible, just a hairline fracture. but that's still broken and it put him out of work. i sacrificed the only plant i had left and made a poultice. just one poultice.... he wore it for a few hours the day after he broke his leg. apparently that was all he needed to speed up recovery.
after that i have started using it more and more in place of the OTC oinments..

I'm thinking if you put your herbs into cheesecloth tied with kitchen string, you could get the same benefit that you get from steeping the loose leaves (squeeze it out to get out every bit of goodness from those leaves) without the mess of random leaves attaching themselves to the cloth used for the compress. You could even apply the cheesecloth filled with leaves directly to the skin and place the compress on top of that as directed, with plastic wrap and a towel on top to hold in the heat longer. It's a thought....

I doubt this will work. In fact, I am certain it cannot.
The problem is that diabetes destroys the blood vessels due to the excess sugar flushing through them 24/7. The problem has already been many years in the making by the time amputation stage is reached.
There is no external application which can restore the internal dead tissues caused by compromised blood supply. He would have needed to drastically alter his diet years previously, cutting out all the sugars and starchy carbohydrates, to prevent this tragic situation.

    • @sandylajeunesse4100
      @sandylajeunesse4100 2 года назад

Be careful when adding comfrey to an existing open wound comfrey should only be applied to a wound that has been closed over. For gangrene on a toe, the best thing is to use tea tree oil. I did this on my Dad's foot and his doctor said he had never seen gangrene reverse before. It was amazing. Comfrey can be used on a wound but it should be almost healed first as funny as that sounds. You don't want to trap infection in a wound by healing the top of it. So once the wound is scabbed you can then apply comfrey. comfrey is actually more for muscle and bones. Someone mentioned about it being toxic. Some people drink a comfy tea,. But according to the powers that be we should not ingest it because it can be toxic. I personally don't drink it although I wish I could but I don't want to take a chance, using it on skin or as a poultice is just fine. It shouldn't have to be long-term anyhow just a couple of days.

    • @rubygray7749
      @rubygray7749 6 лет назад

I had the same problem for years. Crippling.
The solution is increasing your calcium intake.
Calcium is the essential mineral that soothes nerves and relaxes muscles.
Drinking 2 pints of milk per day, every day, is a great help. Especially on crampy days, you can feel it soothing the pain. Drink only whole milk, as this has all its good saturated fats which contain the essential fat-soluble vitamins that are necessary to assimilate calcium into your system.
Then, take calcium gluconate tablets. This is a soluble form of calcium, and 1,000 mg of calcium from these tablets, chewed, when you have cramps, will quickly relieve the symptoms.
Magnesium is also a pain reliever, very powerful and soothing. So half a teaspoon of Epsom Salt, swallowed and washed down with water, followed by a hot drink, every day, is helpful for all types of cramps, headaches, chest pain and muscle tics.
Extra fat-soluble vitamins A & D can be obtained from cod liver oil, naturally processed, in liquid or capsule form. Take it daily, and it will build stronger bones, straight teeth, healthy skin and mucous membranes, and assist in fighting infections.
All these things work because what causes the cramping is usually a deficiency of the vital nutrients in these natural foods. The preoccupation with being "slim" often means deficiencies of many nutrients because not enough foods and variety is being consumed.
My cramps stopped for good after I had an 11 pound baby, breastfed for 14 months. Not necessarily recommended! But I did ensure that I followed my own good advice. Breastfeeding can induce very severe cramps because it is constantly draining a huge amount of calcium from the system if this is not supplied in the mother's diet.
Phosphorus is a calcium antagonist. Excess phosphorus is excreted, but every atom of phosphorus takes an atom of calcium with it, leaving us even more deficient in calcium. All grains contain high phosphoprus and low calcium, but what we require is a total dietary ratio of 1.1 Calcium to 1 Phosphorus. Cutting down or cutting out breads, pasta, rice, etc can help increase the amount of calcium available in our body.
Vegetables contain good amounts of calcium and magnesium, especially if they are grown on soil enriched with dolomite.
Fish containing bones such as salmon and sardines, is another rich source of the minerals we need.
Cutting out carbonated soft drinks and coffee is another good step, as these acid foods dissolve and leach out calcium.

Magnesium can help. Using magnesium spray (called magnesium oil) is more easily absorbed by your body. And also try nettle tea/infusion.

    • @rubygray7749
      @rubygray7749 6 лет назад

"Magnesium oil" is just a supersaturated solution of magnesium chloride.
How can this "get into" the body?
If that was true, then every time we swam in the ocean, all that SODIUM chloride would "get into our body," too, and we would die! Doesn't happen!
There's no better way to absorb magnesium than by swallowing it.
"Magnesium oil" is just a commercial gimmick. It feels nasty on the skin, which is because it DOESN'T get through the skin. The water evaporates, leaving a layer of annoying salt outside the skin.
A 2-ounce bottle here costs $22. And that is half water! That makes the price of magnesium in this form, over $700!
You can buy a 25 kg bag of magnesium chloride powder for your swimming pool, for $40.
That is just $1.60 per kg.
Somebody is having a laugh here. They are selling bottled water and a very cheap salt for an astronomical price, and making impossible claims for it. The amount you would have to "spray on" to remedy a magnesium deficiency, would be absurdly much.
Magnesium suplphate , known as Epsom Salts, is very cheap to buy, and can be taken by the teaspoonful, a suitable amount to have a genuine effect. It works within a few minutes on cramps, migraines and muscle tics etc, if you wash it down with plenty of fluids, preferably a hot drink to dissolve it more quickly.

    • @donnasouthwood
      @donnasouthwood 6 лет назад +1

Are you kidding? Have you ever heard of administering medication via a patch? I guess all those doctors prescribing medication via patches are idiots, because putting something on your skin won't "get into the body". Try putting on a fentanyl patch and see if you don't die of an opioid overdose. Try doing a little research before going off on an ignorant rant.

Magneisum deficiency causes these. Take 1/2 teaspoon of epsom Salt once a day, swallow it off a spoon and wash down with water then a hot drink to help it dissolve fast. Some people have a higher requirement and need more than this; others find this is enough to fix symptoms. But because it is soluble and easily washed out of our body, we need magneisum every day. Most soils are depleted in magnesium, therefore our food is as well.
Dr Sandra Cabot has written a book called "Magnesium the Miracle Mineral," which explains how just about everybody is deficient in magneisum, and the whole slew of maladies caused by this deficiency.
You can pay a lot of money for various magnesium supplements, but the easiest and much the cheapest is Epsom Salt.
