The gun crafting was also pretty convoluted if I remember. I had like 6 scopes with mutiple barrels and stocks and 3 magazines sticking out of the gun.
And yet weapons never changed forms accordingly. I was so disappointed when I did not get Frankenstein Pistol.
That's why it's the best weapon crafting system in history.

I think you mean 3 scopes in front of each other with 2 more going upward, 4 barrels connected end to end, 3 additional handles and a drum magazine. ON A HANDGUN.
Thats literally the only reason I remembered this game. I constantly thought over the years "What was that game with the insane gun crafting? I want to play it again..." Thank god PS3 emulators are a thing now, I can really play again.
Played through it 3 times since it was released. Deserves a sequel in my opinion.

Resonance of Fate was my first -ever platinum trophy. I LOVED this game. The setting, the characters, the aesthetic, the combat... I never get enough chances to talk about it though. You weren't lying about no one remembering it. >.

It was many moons ago, but if I recall correctly the hardest part was grinding the bonus dungeon for the golden weapons.
that said, none of it felt like work. It really can't be understated how much I loved the game. In a way I may have gone too far... I beat it so thoroughly in the weeks I first had it that I've never had much reason to do any of the extra stuff again, though I replay the main story from time to time.
It was my second platinum (my first being Gundam Musou 3). Doing the 50 Arena missions 10 times each was quite the grind.
Yeah, the big task for this platinum trophy was the arena and maybe leveling to max because I didn't use grenades enough for most of the game.
The second to last arena match I think was easiest to level too maximum in. It had two helicopter enemies and a tank I think. Scratch the Hp fully then toss a grenade to break it. My grenade level went from about 7 to 50 in one battle.
I found grenades nearly worthless. Even at level 100.
Do I remember? This game practically had the best comedic english voice acting I've seen in video games!

Radiata Stories always got a laugh out of me with Jack's weird jogging animation and compulsive kicking.

Oh gymnastic shooting, every time I remember this game I freak out about with a friend. It's probably my favorite combat system I never experienced (a.k.a never played the game)! Wished I played it but what I heard about the combat system made it unappealing but super fun to watch.
This game and The Last Remnant are the obscure RPGs I like to recommend to people. I may enjoy Last Remnant a little more but this game is still fantastic. I love finding those unique combat systems.

I rmember Last Remnant not running super well on my 360. Loved Resonance of Fate but couldn't play much of Last Remnant.

All I remember is going to do a mission, knowing I needed machine piercing ammo for the trip, didn't buy enough before it was too late and then I was stuck at a save point with no piercing ammo and a bunch of machine encounters that I couldn't win because normal bullets don't do jack shet.

You didn't even record the weapon customisation menu. Why in the would would someone try to sell this without advertising the SEVEN BARRELED THRICE SCOPED HANDGUNS.
Jokes aside RoF has the sharpest difficulty spikes I've ever seen, it has valleys of easy boring junk with an impossible sideboss here and there that you won't be able to tackle because the leveling system penalises specialisation and you have to pass the Good Handgun and the Fireworks Box around.
Also can I just say how the machinegun hoodie hobos that populate the middle levels random encounters being inspired by Zephyr's massacre is fucking spectacular environmental storytelling?

for endgame guns, you actually run out of space on the menu to put more stuff on them, literally every sqare of the customisation screen is barrels and handles and more barrels and scopes on top of scopes and more barrels and stupid drum magazines on hanguns and you know maybe we can fit ironsights on top of the scopes and MORE BARRELS.
It's fucking amazing. Now if only the customisation was rendered on battle...

Does anyone remember (or even know about) Radiata Stories on PS2? Pretty sure that was another tri-Ace game with a RIDICULOUS amount of detail, love, and content built into it. A little odd, but I think it's really accessible... provided you have the strategy guide to help with recruiting allies. I doubt anyone could recruit some of the better people without it.
TDUShelby Early-game was the best soap opera/sitcom ever. Powerwalking and kicking people in the shins is pretty great, too.

This game is just so great. Now would you rather have a sequel to this or Valkyrie Profile? The correct answer is Valkyrie Profile, but Resonance of Fate is a pretty close second (we probably won't ever be seeing either because Tri-Ace has a hard-on for Star Ocean and that's not exactly going well...but a man can hope).

Was anyone else really disappointed with the new star ocean game? The plot was generic , didn't even have a big third act twist, surprisingly. It also was a very short game with little content.
Here's hoping we get a Valkyrie Profile game where *Hrist* is the main character for once (so she can stop living in Lenneth and Silmeria's shadow).
I'd also like to see a sequel to Legend of Dragoon, but after seeing how they butchered Thief, I'm worried we're going to get a modernized product with quick-time events, flashy set pieces, generic villains, DLC carved from the main game, microtransactions, and possibly even episodic gameplay..
I was just thinking about this game the other day, now I have to play it. The voice cast was amazing and the combat is so addictive.
I tried playing it but got stuck like 5 hours into the game and no matter what I did I never managed to pass that GODDAMN ROBOT!... But I might as well give it a retry now that have nothing to play. *Looks at library with over 200 unfinished games and the pile of classics sitting in the drawer*

Muahala Ventura Is that where you cross lines with your party to get extra turns or something? Cause I spammed the shit out of that along with the run past it to get more multipliers.
Best advice is to learn how to really customize your guns. Think of it like Tetris and try to stuff in extra parts anywhere you can. Charge speed and charge acceleration are both the most useful, I recommend a good 50/50 split of CS and CA focus on the machine guns with a 70/30 CS/CA on hand guns since most of the time you just need that first charge to knock all the scratch damage off.
In what area? Early game or late winter area. One in winter area much harder.
Scratch damage. We all learn the hard way, but use the machine gun with heroic action to pull off multiple hits with a decent bit on each section. Also feel free to hide behind cover. Also there appears to be a glitch where if you're right in its face its beam will fail to hit but it continues trying to attack anyway. When games get annoyingly hard, cheese it.
I absolutely love this game! I still have my Leanne cosplay to this day. They released an HD version on PC a few years ago. I bought it so fast to relive the battle system!

I got this game by happy accident. My sister and her boyfriend wanted to get a game we might all like for my birthday, and assumed this was a shooter from the guns on the cover. I was all "... Ok." Bless their hearts, they got until we met Pater before fleeing the room.
I also got it at the same time that persona 5 and don't get me wrong persona 5 is a master piece but this game still got me playing it a few hours more than persona xD

Almost quit the game last night, then I sat down with some youtube combat explanations and now I'm loving the combat. Not sure why they didn't do a better job with this tutorial. Ironically FF13 released around the same time was one long tutorial.
Sadly, the only Of Fate I remember playing is Threads of Fate. It was a fun, but short ride.
I had this game for about 4 years before I actually bothered to beat it this year. Let me just say that this game's combat system alone left me learning something new every time I picked it up.

If you do play it, always jump just before you reach the end of your running path or run out of stamina. You get a few extra seconds of shooting.

Since this is an old video anyone who is the least bit interested can now purchase this as a HD/4k digital remaster on PS4 not sure if it is also on xbone. Tri-Ace games can be relentless for grind factor.. ( Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria anyone? ) But they do make some awesome games and this one is worth all the effort. Learning curve VERY high and can be quite the challenge.

Thank you for bringing this game from the abyss! Gosh, it's been so long playing Resonance of Fate. I have put 145+ hours in that game and still haven't finished it because the difficulty and grinding.

Art Style (over photorealism) makes a game timeless.
I actually have this game, and I HATED it. I really wanted to like it, too - it has a really strong opening, as you said, and the combat system is flashy and fun... at first. It has two huge problems that just keep me from sticking with it, though.
1. The combat is the sort of thing that's really fun the first time you do it, but that gets really obnoxious around the 100th go-round or so. Which, given that it's a JRPG, is really not a good thing.
2. This game has possibly the worst case of it-gets-better-10-hours-in-itis I've ever seen. The story just *stops* after the beginning, and the game doesn't let you get any freaking equipment upgrades for at least 4 chapters (out of 16!). I reached a point where I realized that I was a few hours in and I was *still* using all the default gear, and the battles were all running together because you do the same goddamn thing in every single one, and then I realized I needed to grind some items to unlock more of the world map (which is the *shittiest* idea, ever), and I just thought to myself... why the fuck am I still playing this?
PhoenixUltima Yeah, i had similar problems with it. Ended up selling it aftrr beating the second (i think) major boss.
See, though, I never even got up to the point where I could buy attachments. Because for some stupid reason they decided to never give you any equipment upgrades until you get past at least chapter 4 (possibly even later - I never got past chap. 4), and I was having literally 0 fun at that point, so I just threw my hands up and said "fuck it".
the easiest way is to rotate weapons between characters, that way they ll become stronger and lvl up faster.
I still have this game in my shelf and i never managed to go past the skyrocket boss... So it just sits there waiting for me getting good

I do. I remember the amount of frustration this game made me feel. It was the most frustrating game I had played at the time, but at the same time I did love it.
The art style was pretty generic so it aged like milk too.
The games biggest issue was shitty frame rates and awful anti aliasing. One of the last console games I played so it still holds a special place in my heart.
