Thank you! I just bought my first home, and I’m really concerned about the rot in the wood window, but I’ll definitely give this a shot! It’ll, at the very least, prevent it from getting worse until I can replace it! thanks a million!

I like this idea!
I completely sealed off my window with heat shrink film. It worked great for the last year but has began to detach. the mineral buildup from the water did a good job of providing privacy to my window over time.
What really jazz's me about this idea is how it protects the wall aswell! Thanks for sharing!
Hope this helps you out
I thought of this, was checking for other ideas on youtube, my house is 1957, was glad you used this idea, so i can go ahead with it.
This is a nice simple easy trick. It should help you out pretty good.
Great idea! Thank you very much! I am going to try it out!
It will save you a lot of aggravation.
That's one heck of a great idea! I like keeping the window and opening it up after a shower for awhile for ventilation and to dry out the tub/shower area.

So simple! Thanks! I was considering double sided tape and outdoor insulation film but that would leave me no access to the window if needed or wanted.
I'm off to buy another shower rod and liner instead.

I've done this. Only problem is that it's a smaller shower and I'm always bumping into the curtain. I really wish there was a better alternative, that was also as cost effective.
+Justin De Terville I have used the extra shower curtain idea, but instead of hanging it from a rod, which takes up some of your shower space, I used clear thumbtacks to tack it to the top and sides of the window frame. I left the bottom open for drying and access to the window.
Maybe velcro

Great idea! Only one thing I just thought about is the shower curtain might be hard to stay up because the steam might make the shower curtain rod slip from the tile.
I never had an issue with it using this method.
what an awesome idea

Ive been doin this but the curtain blows in the way when showering its annoying
Didn’t have that happen to me
I'm in the same situation you are, and the previous owner had the second shower curtain up as you do. However, the tub isn't very wide, and I'm uncomfortable with the shower curtain on the window side touching me while I shower. I was wondering if you had any ideas on how to best utilize this idea and keep the shower curtain away from our bodies while showering?
Maybe suction cup the shower curtain ends to the wall.
Me too I do this as well. I'm saving my window but I now hate taking showers, both of the curtains come together on me while showering
Water repellant curtains

Darn, not a permanent solution. I'll keep looking. Your window looks exactly like mine though! Same tile, mullion and everything!

How do you replace that window?
You may be able to have Home Depot give you an estimate in a replacement window. I actually replaced this one myself. I purchased a new construction window and replaced it. I bought it from Home Depot. Hope this helps you out.
Wow is all I can say, wish I knew this 20 years ago.....
+Steve Niemyer It saved mine from rotting
