Bravo, I am currently installing a glue up surround in our bathroom, and we have a window in about the same spot. Very happy to find this video. Your comment about plastic bumper repair is spot on too, and I wish I would have thought of this myself but kudos to you for posting the DIY steps!
Wow !!! Thanks for this great video !!! I have used these panels myself in the past .. Such a great idea for doing around the window !! These tile- look wall panels from home depot are the best looking panels too !!!
Nice job on this video! I've been remodeling houses etc for years but I always try to learn more. In this case you made it easy to see how to do a good job. Thank you!
Thank you much! And thanks for watching SlickRidez Garage! This was the last video I shot with the laptop.....and I'm glad to hear the visibility is good! I appreciate your comments! Have a good one!
Thanks for this tip. I didnt know how to waterproof my bathroom window till I watched your video. I didnt bend it with heat but cut the pieces that would surround the window instead and caulked the edges .
That should be OK, I'd just keep an eye on that caulk to make sure it doesn't crack out or fail. It should work for quite a while that way! Thanks for watching and for commenting, hope you subscribe!
After spending most of my life in the construction world this type of video usually doesn't impress. Yours does impress---That was a great job on the window---You could look at the camera a bit more, I kept thinking you where staring at someone behind me LOL.
Great video! I have been searching high and low for solutions for a window in my shower. My window is the opposite orientation as yours so my overhang tabs will have to be on my vertical pieces but still this is great. Thanks so much!
Your welcome, and thanks for watching SlickRidez Garage! A good caulking along with the Tacky Tape should take care of that! I'm glad you liked the video....it's kinda off-subject for my channel and I almost didn't do it! Don't be afraid to ask questions, and best wishes for your project!
All About Aly I found it at a mobile home supply store called Complete Mobile Home Center in Hollister Missouri. I'm not sure if Edie down there does mail order or not. A Google search will net a supplier close to you!
I'm worried about water getting into the corner edges at the bottom of the window. Have you tried adding a tab on each side of the bottom piece that folds up and under the side pieces?
My window is about the same location and height as your towel rackStill trying to figure out how to water proof it but it really doesn't get wet where it's located so I may throw caution to the wing. Been there for 40 year with no waterproofing before so keeping my fingers crossed.
Great video on how to finish the window sill using the window cutout. However, you don't show how to finish the sides or with what material you did so. Seems like if you cut the surround to accommodate the sides and top, there won't be enough to finish the sill (and vice versa).
Awesome video, I'm redoing my tub as well, gotta window in the way and never done tile b4 & don't wanna do it. I'm just doing half the window sill. Question: for that type if surrounding walls, do u have sheet rock behind or just the studs? 2nd question: would u recommend me doing just the standard height of the walls or go up all the way to the ceiling?
Hello Tony, thanks for watching the video! The surround I used requires sheetrock behind the surround. If your shower opening is standard size the surround won't get to the ceiling, but if you want the walls covered all the way up you can glue FRP panels to the wall above the surround. If you have other questions give me a shout....I'm pretty tied up right now but I'll answer as fast as I can. Have a good one!
On the tub surround you use, same one I have to install, the edge panels have a inside corner. Did you shorten the 60" back panel width to accommodate the inside curve of the side panels? Or do something different? If you butted the two panels together, did you make any special considerations to seal there?
On the outboard sides of the back panel the edges are rounded. I cut this rounded edge off, just the rounded edge, put tacky tape from top to bottom where the back and side panels overlap then caulked the seam from top to bottom. Hope this helps.
Yeah I hear you, but the instructions are great for lighting a camp fire! Don't know about you but I was lucky to make out any of them with that super small printing! Have a good one!
Thanks for watching the video! Yes, all sides are bent just like the first. The top and bottom pieces on my window have the side tab as seen at 2:28, and the vertical pieces do not. Let me know if you have any other questions. Have a good one!
Sorry it's AS&B plastic on this surround. FRP panels are fiberglass re-inforced plastic, this AS&B plastic surround is without fiberglass re-inforement, so no they are not the same. Far as I know this procedure can't be done with FRP panels.
The only video on the internet I could find on how to do this. THANK YOU SIR!!
You're welcome, and thank you for watching, I hope you had a good experience with your install!

Would love to see the entire tub surround install and waterproofing
If I do another one I will do that. Thanks for watching!

This is a GREAT instructional video. You gave great reasons for every move which helps a LOT for those of us learning how to do this.
Thank you, and thanks for commenting! I try hard to make my vids informative and try very hard not to leave stuff out.

@@SlickRidezGarage thank you!🙂
Thank you! I was looking for ways todo this for weeks
Thank you for watching!
Excellent video! Thank you sir. Very professional advice for DIY

lol, I was looking at a queue card! I tried to change the angle later. Live and learn! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Part carpentry Part Scientific! You Sir are a genius
Thank you very much, and thanks for commenting, watching and subscribing to my channel!
How did you trim out the sides and top? Where did you get the trim?

SlickRidez Garage where did you buy the tacky tape? I've never heard of that product before

I need you to come do my bathroom! I've had the worst luck finding someone to trim out my window properly. I get ants constantly!
Finding a home contractor is a pain these days!
thank you for this.
You bet!
Did you use the same process for the sides and the top of the window as well?
Damn fine job!
Thank you!

I agree and was wondering the same thing. Since the cutout was flipped to make the bottom sill wouldn’t the side pieces then be too short
Looks awesome. Do you use a waterproof membrane under the glue up covering throughout the entire wall?
No membrane.
Where did u get this type of frp? I'm doing a shower with a window also. Thanks!

Is there a video of putting the surround up. I'm trying to install this as a diy and I'm struggling a bit.
I looked for one myself and found none
How's that compare to today's Nutile surrounds?
On the tub surround you use, same one I have to install, the edge panels have a inside corner. Did you shorten the 60" back panel width to accommodate the inside curve of the side panels? Thanks for the tips. The installation instructions offer no suggestions or hints at all.
Yeah I hear you, but the instructions are great for lighting a camp fire! Don't know about you but I was lucky to make out any of them with that super small printing! Have a good one!
This looks great! Where did u purchase the surround?
Thank you very much, and thanks for watching! It came from The Home Depot.
where can u purchase the tacky tape, cant find it in my local hardware store
Try a mobile home supply shop. This is what they use in MH's to seal windows, between the window flange and exterior metal.
Metal roof supply stores will carry it. Butyle sealant tape.
did you fold the top and sides like the bottom sill piece you showed?
Thanks for watching the video! Yes, all sides are bent just like the first. The top and bottom pieces on my window have the side tab as seen at 2:28, and the vertical pieces do not. Let me know if you have any other questions. Have a good one!
So, you haven’t had a problem with water getting in the window seal?
This was done a year and a half ago, and no leaks have been found. Everything is holding up great! Thanks for your question.
One more questions if I may? Is ASV plastic the same as FRP? Thank you.
Sorry it's AS&B plastic on this surround. FRP panels are fiberglass re-inforced plastic, this AS&B plastic surround is without fiberglass re-inforement, so no they are not the same. Far as I know this procedure can't be done with FRP panels.
What the name of the surround product?
The truth, I can't remember the brand name, but I got it from Home Depot
so how is it look now? holding up ok?
5 years later and all is well!
Excellent video! However, Make A New Piece! When you calk it its going to get moldy...
5 years later and I've had no mold issues whatsoever.
he sounds like a robot
I agree, the audio is worthless as tits on a chicken! I used the mic on my laptop when I recorded this.
