Thank you so much! This is the best Schluter installation instructions I’ve seen! I’ve struggle to install schluter in the past. I tried this and it worked great!
i ordered the blade you recommended. Would it help to have water to make a cut with that blade? Does the surface need to be on something to help eliminate vibration?
Hey BRT, got any tips, tricks or "well kept secrets" about what to use when marking on glossy tile and cutting with a wet saw? I know there is a Pica pencil and it claims that line will stay even if water comes in contact. Have you tried that? 👀 I also know that sharpie wont stick either. Tried adhering tape optimistically on tile and drawing a line on it. 🤪 It was not a match for water and the blade either.
That is one thing I need to test and try out. I struggle with that too. Some tiles can be stained by pencil or sharpies…have had problems before Good question. Will start trying things out 👍
Me too. Just assumed the pencil would come off so kept on tiling. Trying to clean at the end and I scrubbed my ass off, haze remover, straight acid and I couldn't get all of it off. Luckily the worst spots were kinda hidden but it could have been a disaster and it's just pencil.
@@BathroomRemodelingTeacher I know that someone like you (or Sal) who does such volume of tile in the meantime go by the feel and eye coordination and all is good but for us tile-infants we do struggle. Landberg made a video a year or so ago about Pica and it seems like a miracle scriber. Those Germans you know. Might wanna give that a shot. I also do think that RamBoard's seam tape would be able to actually stay put while going through the wet saw. Also its surface is perfect for any kind of a pen, pencil or fine tip sharpie. Will test that on my next backsplash.
Try Milwaukee inkzall but use the red or blue ones. The black stains the tile especially white tile. I use those for my glossy tile and it stays while I cut with water.
Noticed when doing your window then adding the "glass" band. I tried this with the first tile job I'm doing and I ended up ripping it all out (the band) as it was made up of many many different tiles in the band and the thin was coming through the back and got all over....what the hell? And yours looks like it was some kind of glass tile and not individual pieces of glass. Can you explain what you had and the differences and if you even mess with that crap that is held together with some kind of mesh that allows the mud to muck up the whole tile job. Tks
@@BathroomRemodelingTeacher Great advice. That would have made it so much easier....however, that is the 2nd shower I did and probably my last. lol I really do not enjoy it at all and will probably pay someone like you to do it professionally. lol
Great video! What are your tips for avoid chips at the very end if your cuts? I have found the slightly bigger overhead blade saws tend to a better job at preventing that. Thanks!
Fully agree. Bench top wet saws suck for small cuts. Always trails off at ends. Biggest thing is to let the blade cut. It’s definitely more time consuming without professional tools. Better blades help too
If you are new to it then cutting them on the wet saw is more forgiving. The webbing on the back is what gets you. I cut the section out with snips first and then cut the main part on the wet saw. I'm scared to cut on a chop saw anymore. Catch some shrapnel in the throat or eyes haha.
Absolutely started in the middle, why not just say "you know all this" and sit and have a beer. You do know this is supposed to be a tutorial? How about starting at the beginning, never done tile so don't know what you didn't show

Do you need the metal window sill trim?
Do you use motor for the tiles?
Thanks for the video.

Do you have to use bullnose tiles on the edges or is the metal trim acceptable too.
If the window needs to be replaced, does the tiles needs to be removed?
Do the window jambs need to be removed to tile the sill?

@@arelfarrington9943 Will put it to the test. Thanks for sharing.

Small cuts on table top is way better doing with tile upside down
What blade do you recommend for your grinder for cutting porcelain?

You should wear ear protection. 😁
Do you 45 the trim corners?
Yes 👍
What blade are you using (or recommend) for cutting the schluter on the chop saw?
I’m honestly just using a 40 tooth Diablo blade, a finer blade would be better 80 or more 👍

You should of setout from the window before you started
Cut your trim using a piece of wood that is held against the trim and make the cut
I'd strongly urge you to wear eye protection when cutting metal trim.
