To be honest, I think the mad dogs are amazing! American leaves them in the old livery and it makes them look much older than they are. Delta has always been updating the liveries on the MDs and they look almost brand new!
AA leaves the Mad Dogs in the old livery, because its cheaper. As they re supposed to be retired by the end of 2019, why would you repaint an aircraft for only a few months? Well only AA is able to answer this...
**my little avgeek heart :** Fuck the money now, dont let these MDs go !! Repaint them !! Keep them alive !!
I love the MD. I am sorry they are going away. I really. Hate the 737 max that is replacing them, it is a cattle car that crashes.
Gosh, there is something about a traditional cabin that is just so appealing. It looks so much more comfortable and homey. Newer cabins look sleek but they lack the appeal and comfort of older cabins.
Kim Core agreed, traditional cabins are generally more spacious too, most modern ones (particularly when flying economy) feel cramped
I find it interesting that American used the new livery on the MD-80 in the fleet list magazine but never repainted any MD80s
yeah...same here...
Same with Aer Lingus they show a picture of an ATR 72 wearing the new livery but they never repainted any of there ATR 72s. Very interesting Indeed.
I'm personally glad that AA didn't repaint the MD-80's. I think they look good in the older paint scheme.
I was just thinking about the same thing!
@@avationgeek.1217 interesting to know!
From what I've heard from AA Employees, the MAX grounding isn't affecting the retirement of these lovely old Maddogs. Shame to see them go, I've flown from Tulsa to DFW many times on the MD-80s. Love the engine sound.
Edit: Working on getting on a retirement flight for one of the MD80s
Let's hope so. Who knows how long it will take the MAX to be re-certified and pilots re-trained. American certainly has enough parts planes in Victorville to supply components for MD-80's still in service.
I love those maddogs, have yet to fly on one, but Tulsa isn't too far away. It's a shame to see them head off to Roswell.
@@theshellacstation78 thanks. I just don’t want anyone’s in trouble for me. Appreciate of your helps.
I just love the sound of those MD engines, especially reverse thrust.
Loudest sounds on Earth
50ft thunderstrike
Formula 1 full power 10ft
MD80 takeoff 1mi
This aircraft looks gorgeous in the old American livery 😍
Me a few years ago : wow the new aa livery !! I can consider it as a special livery :D
Me nowadays : wow the old aa livery !! I can consider it as a special livery D:
I always love seeing polished aluminum on livery, they don't do it now to make cleaning easier, but when shiny all jets look better polished with no paint.
ryan olson Exactly. On AA especially. They should have left the old livery, it made the airline stand out and look unique. The new one looks gloomy and average.
i wonder what it would look like in the new livery......probably absolute insulting garbage...
Who else loves md 80s in 2019
who else wishes that the MD- series were never retired ever???
Me
Me for both
Me!!✈️✈️
Who loves fokker f28?
Never knew they had McDonnell Douglas written on the window shade handles. Nice feature
Ahh! I love the MDs. So beautiful in Americans classic livery.
Enjoy them while you can.. American only has about 34 of them left!
The livery reminds me of a Greyhound bus from the wing forward!
the memories are coming back: the American Airlines MD-80, DFW, the Skylink, everything (except Memphis, which I've never flown to).
3:36 I do exactly the same before I board a cruise or a flight 😂
I tap the top of the threshold myself.
Me too
Just because i want my blueprints on that plane forever
When the MD 80s are gone I will very much miss that livery
They've officially made the tricolor livery a retrojet in their fleet. So you'll still have a chance to fly
Great video! Love the classic seating and the McDonald Douglas on the window!
Lol, the best part of the plane is sitting in seat 29F and hearing the engines during takeoff.
29E* :D

Omg I love that livery right there :O 1:16

Nice to see one of the old TWA planes still in the air.
Oh I was at Dallas Love field this day 😃 and I made a short hop at DFW to give back the rental car at 5am. Damn what a coincidence 😀😉
Great video though. I subbed
Mathéo cool! That’s a cool coincidence. Thanks!
Thank you for great video about MD . I had in my plans to fly from SEA to Dallas especially to get flight from Dallas on MD but it did not happens yet ... but i watched great video from you. Thank you one more time!
These Beautiful Mad Dogs are at least 25 - 30 yrs or more...right? Well I love'm and will miss them when they all retire.
MD-80s use to always fly in and out of my town. Now, it has ERJ-175, B737-8, A320, and CRJ700’s.
Wonderful video as always! It so great to see the MD-80s still flying around with major carriers. =D
Good report. I like your ratings at the end, thank you.
I enjoyed the video. I will Miss those Mad Dogs.
cool classic trip with the MD80....love the sounds...good job Q :)
hi qman, hope you enjoyed your brief visit to texas, rocking the UT colors! come back often, you are always welcome here. great video, thanks for taking me along. good job my friend.
a lovely and beautiful jet the MD 80...nearly finish...:( good report !:)
Lmao the looks people give you when they see the camera xD
That was nice the cabin crew in the back did not mind you coming to the back and taking photos...I think the pilot crew team was leaving it seems and the flight attendant crew was doing a turn...Thanks...You be safe....
The old livery is soooooo beautiful. The new one sucks
I like both
Both are sexy asf
I really love this channel. Please keep up the great work!
Great video, I look forward to seeing your vids
I took a great shot of my experience on the MD-83 from mem to Dew as well
Another awesome video Quintin! I miss flying on those! Too bad they are being retired by the end of the year! I hope many of them can be refurbished and continue flying for a few more years. Always wishful thinking! I have not had the pleasure of flying recently since taking out T Mobile post paid service back in 2016. I would definitely take advantage of the free Gogo inflight internet for us To Mobile customers! Again another great flight! Always my personal best for you! Always safe travels! Mark in Iowa.
These were basically my childhood aircrafts. Ive flown on them a bunch of times. They were originally supposed to be all gone by the end of 2017 but I’m not sure what caused the retirement delay. But still, I don’t want them to go :(
Anyways amazing video!!!
you flew the day of my birthday,
you flew the day of my birthday, good video, thank you these videos help to know the environment when one travels also to those same destinations
today's Q re-view is brought to you by orange juice, tomato juice, and safety cards. honestly, is there anyone in the sky happier than qman when he's on a his beloved Mad Dog? well done Quebec Foxtrot Sierra, thanks for sharing!
The Mad Dog kicks ass
:)
Really nice of the crew to let you explore the aircraft a bit after landing! I’m assuming they let you keep a safety card as a souvenir in the end?
Amazing video dude 👏
Also I flew an MD-80 from Norfolk to Chicago it was pretty cool and it had the old logo.
I think all the md80's have the old logo
I find the old American Airlines logo is better then the new logo
The old livery and logo will always be treasured but the new one is more modern and no other carrier has a better country flag representation on their tail than American in my opinion with the various shades and colour selections.
Flew this bird two weeks ago. Our airplane's registration was N501AA.
It’s always a recognizable sight to seem AA MD-80s at DFW. Sad to see it’s becoming a rare sight. Nice that Delta continues to maintain the MD-80s and MD-90s well and keep them up and running.
Flew on the mad dog a few time in delta comfort and first class. Very quiet up front.haven't flown AA.
Really liked this trip report, and all the great footage. Two thumbs up!!
It's so funny how many people tap or touch the fuselage when they board the plane. When I would go up and wait for gate check I'd see people doing it.
I like it too. It's nice that the plane gets some affection.
The venerable DC-9 durable, stretchable, easy to reengine and far superior to the 737!
Thanks.
Awesome video! I remember listening to those bad ass planes take off from LGA and fly over my apartment in Forest Hills.
Wow...
this tripreport is one of the best i have seen
QFS Aviation Good job :D !!!
Amazing tripreport!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like the md 80 engine startup
Awesome vid Q! Landings and takeoffs are my favorite as a fellow aviation geek!
Luckyyyy.......I always wanted to ride an MD-8O....Nice vid!
Mike Delta 8 Oscar ?
Gotcha XD
Yep....
I agree the mad dogs are my favorite aircraft
I always watch these videos to see if I'll spot myself in an airport.... LOL
Haha that’s cool!
I like the Delta md-80s because if there new cabins and of course the livery
I think it would be cool to do a rather unique route. Fort Myers, Florida to Düsseldorf, Germany with Eurowings. It’s kinda crazy how a small airport like fort Myers can handle a transatlantic flight.
Wow that sounds like a good idea! Maybe I'll try that soon
Hey Q, another amazing trip report, the MD80 is a design classic, I hope she is around for a few more years. I can’t agree with you more on the old American Eagle livery being the best. Hey I’ve got an EasyJet life jacket, it was one used for training tho. 👍💯😎
Thanks QFS !!!
Awesome work. Thank you for the videos. Keep them coming. I enjoy the music as well...are you willing to share the titles or source?
Very nice video Q. I don't remember having seen any MD-80 flying in Brazil. I flew on an MD-11 and DC-10. Thanks for sharing!
Was that in the morning or afternoon before meal service? Ok, you take care......Cute music as well...Nice...
Great trip report. Do you think you can do a trip report on Air Transat or Sunwing. Maybe even porter Airlines
Love them or hate them, they're probably the most comfortable jet AA currently flies, at least seat wise.
Ótimo vídeo
I can't wait on May 6, 2019!!! Flight first class Atlanta to Phoenix then Phoenix to Bakersfield, CA. I'm so exciting
I'm going hiking on PCT
Wow that old airplane! I ride before on Alaska Airlines from Anchorage to Seattle and to San Diego and Seattle to Anchorage. Now retired use Boeing 737 since now.
I always find myself flying alone🤦🏾♀️😭
My last 2 flights I flew on Easter Sunday and both flights i had the rows to myself.
Soooooooo it's better to fly on the day of a holiday..... GREAT SEATS😁✌🏾
3:22 why are the engines covered?
Great video! I flew an MD80 from CHS to DFW a few weeks ago. Probably my last! 😭😭
These planes were really comfortable to fly on
this is the best livery every, who gon tell me otherwise?
The MAX will be back flying before the MD80 retirements.
6:47 LOOL THAT FACE
I really hope you enjoyed my great city!! I recommend you try Rendezvous BBQ, and check out the Pyramid.
Thanks! I’ll try to go there next time I’m in Memphis
I personally prefer the new livery over this one and I wish American would have put it on the MD 80s to at least make them look a little fresh.
Looking very nice.....Fly safe always..
Totally agree with you on the Livery. I can’t stand the new livery.
Cool man! I really enjoyed it
Can you do a trip report to Columbus maybe
Yo I like your longhorn sweater , go horns. And great video.
What kind of first class dosent have a tv?
Woah I had no idea that American Airlines planes with the old paint job still exist.
They will be gone soon. Hop on one while you can!
QFS Aviation I don’t think any fly to Sacramento International Airport (my airport)
Some of these are only 20 years old and were delivered to TWA in the late 90s
Qfs question 1: what editor did you use
Question 2: what’s the speed number
I love the video
I’ve been on one myself.. such an incredible airplane, but as nice as the engine sound is.. it’s a bit noisy
Another awesome video.not a fan of the super 80 never was.i was and will of the 727-200 that was my baby.
Thank you! Wow how was the 727? My dad tells me it was an amazing aircraft!
@@QFSAviation it was an amazing experience I only flew that aircraft.because it did some amazing destinations how ever as a flight attendant it was not really friendly because you could not bring out the meal or beverage cart out so everything was hand walked.was your father a airline crew.i like that you are such airplane enthusiast like my self have loved aviation sence I was 7yrs old i would go too SFO every Sunday and spot airplanes. then took flying lessons but did not like it so I went with cabin attendant and have gone too places that I would never imagine ever of going.
Honestly all airlines should make wifi free but great report btw
Already done for Southwest :D
@@matheo9246 and JetBlue!
I like this video
Hello broo 🙋 which boarding pass do you like the most with the Telephone or with the Ticket ??? 😉👌 greet me please 😢😢
Qfs I love the mad dogs the loudest engine ever
TRIP REport ! American Airnes MD 80 Dalles DFW to Memphis [MEM ]! First Class
They’re the only planes still in the old livery.
Well some ERJ 135's for American Eagle have yet to be updated yet
older planes are they safer than the news planes ?
I didn’t know that they still exist
I only 4 times flew an AA MD-80. Twice in 2005, once in 2008 and I spontaneously flew on one once in 2014. I find it disappointing and weird that on the American way magazine on the fleet of plane list as an MD-80 in the new American livery when it reality that was never to actually happen!
Nice
Next Years estimation is 78 Million passengers will pass thru D/FW! And at current rates D/FW will fall short of 30 gates by 2020...
Wow that is a ton of passengers!
