Technique slot sounds interesting, especially added to the weapon levelling system. I'm imagining unlocking the corresponding technique at 10 and each weapon having a distinct advantage/identity. (Swords) = Increased attack speed, +Crit chance and Bleeding - 2H add AoE (Axes) = Increased attack speed, +Crit chance and Crushing Blow - 2H add AoE (Hammers/Maces) = Stun/Slow, +Crit damage and Crushing Blow - 2H add AoE (Polearm/scythes/Spears) = Stun/Slow, +Crit Chance, +AoE and Bleeding I'm imagining Crushing Blow to make the target vulnerable to further damage and possibly a minor DoT similar to but less than Bleeding.
I wish this arsenal system would reward you for combining different weapons and attacks, instead of camping one with biggest damage. You have this amazing looking two handed mace and you never use it in combat, because your build favors slashing weapon polearm for whirlwind. Even from class fantasy perspective, it's stupid to carry around a big heavy maul just hanging on your back and never do anything with it.
He's mainly talking for leveling. There will definitely be builds where you are going to want to make use of the different effects. I assume you apply a de-buff with one skill and capitalise on said de-buff with another skill.
Walking Arsenal capstone skill that we didn’t get in the beta, gives 15% for swapping to three weapons or 10% for swapping two. Enjoy the free 10% when leveling
Thanks so much for _yet another_ round of awesome content Raxx - you're my go to resource for all things Diablo, and I'm always banging on about how awesome your stuff is. I must have recommended at least 20 people use the GB9000 in last season hehe. Anyhow, I'm going to be avidly consuming your D4 content, so thanks again for keeping us all in the loop ! :D
Came here for which wepaon is using which skill....this guy mentioned assigning weapons to skills, made me look better. In tab 'abilities' on bottom you have a button called 'skill assignment'. after you click on it you get a new window. In this window you can assign a weapon to a skill. By default it selects the best weapon, but that isnt always the best weapon for your build. You can change it here.
I thought that the Arsenal system will be a bit more flexible than what I understand from this video... Like, for example, as it is now you can bind all your skills to your main high dmg weapon and the rest in your Arsenal is just passive weight that you don't use at all, where I though that there would be some incentive to actually bind your skills to different weapons and mid-combat switch seamlessly between them, basically getting a far-stronger feel of Weapon Mastery, than simply hitting stuff. You could say that this is more or less a cosmetic little thing. I feel like it stems from the fact that the stats of all 4 weapons apply to each attack, which turns 3 of them into "stat-sticks" like Raxx said. And if this would be changed it will create that visual Weapon Mastery I'm referring to, but it will probably be a nerf in essence, I guess. :/ EDIT: I just saw that there's an Ultimate Skill (Iron Storm or something) that actually incentivizes you to switch weapons. Not sure if it's the same as what I have in mind, but it sounds like it plays into the same concept
And now, to get all the right rolls on all four weapons, including the affixes! The tip on the Expertise use is key - looks like they can make a big difference!
This will probably require play testing to combine arsenals, but I could see duel wielding a mace and sword, a 2h axe and a 2h mace being a very effective combo for generating fury, applying vulnerability, gaining berserk, and extra dmg and atk speed against stunned/crowd controlled enemies.
The barb was the least grok worthy or fun class of the lot. Your explanation of the using the other non highest damage weapons for their stats is intriguing. I will definitely have to play with the arsenal system more at launch. -Necro was the most easy and fun to get into from the start. The class mechanic summons were very cookie cutter until you level and get the upgrades and stylistic changes. -Sorcerer was at times a little bland until you get the enchantment system. It is absolutely the best class mechanic in game. -Rogue was a lot of fun from the start with a decent but less bonkers class mechanic than Sorc or Necro -Druid seemed to have interesting takes on their summons. I am not sure passive ravens was working. The jury is out on their class mechanic since it seemed like just incremental upgrades but some areas were locked from players that could prove interesting. -Barbarian really felt like it had a decent basic attack, whirlwind and other stuff not worth experimenting with because of crazy long cooldowns.
I'm still unclear on the active part of this (what the player can even do/set/assign), but that may be because I'm playing on PS5. I have no idea what the analog for "middle-click" would be, nor do I see anything in the UI to guide me.
This is weird. Maybe itll be cooler once I play the game, but either way I cant wait for d4 to come out. I get super hyped when I watch your vids talking about it
You explain that the stats of the 3 unused weapons in your arsenal are applied to the main weapon you’re attacking with. Does that include any level 10 additional bonuses on those 3 unused weapons? For example, if you're attacking with a 2H sword, but have a level 10 1H axe in your arsenal, do you get the lucky hit bonus from that axe?
One thing that people will miss is how to actually change their weapons per damaging skill. At end game you will be using a 1H weapon that is a unique and a 2H weapon that is a unique leaving you two open legendary properties and one of those properties is spoken for if you want to do damage.
Press the S key then middle mouse click while your cursor is hovering over the skill you wish to assign to a different weapon You want the Skills menu not Abilities
This sounds cool. Will you also do a guide on the new effects and stats? I read Maxroll a bit, but was constantly confused what fortified, unstoppable, vulnerable, healthy, etc enemies mean. And is lucky attack the same as critical, or are those two things?
How about the legendary afix of the other 3 weapons. Are they up all the time or just if you switch them with a skill :) btw love ur vids. Keep rolling and greetings from austria
Big question. My slashing 2 hander is the sword with aspect. I noticed I can cycle when I hover over the skills using the mouse wheel. However I can’t use the wheel to move it. My sword is only 1 and I’m level 43. Ughhhh
Hello Rax, is there anyway that we could disable the auto select for the Barbs ? right now i think the game its bugged for PC users cuz when we scroll down with the mouse wheel we couldn't selected the weapons that we wana use..... its really annoying and i think Blizzard haven't noticed this even though on D4 Forum there are a lot of players are having the same issues.....🤔
I use WW endgame build form maxroll but I can't get it about arsenal selection thing. What I have to pick up Two-Handed Sword or Two-Handed Axe Expertise? It is very confusedly written on the site.
Unless I'm mistaken, the weapon selected for a given skill will determine its damage output, while the other three act as "stat sticks", meaning you get everything that's on them, not just their legendary power as you would with the cube.
How did legendary powers on the other weapons affect the weapon/skill you were currently using if you know Raxx? I'm assuming that if you use a juicy 2H sword as a main DPS weapon for your Whirlwind, can you use your other three weapons and their legendary powers to feed into the "main skill"? Lets say my 2H sword has the legendary power "Whirlwind pulls enemies into weapon range periodically" while my other weapons have something like "Whirlwind now deals an additional +x% bleeding damage" and "Monsters that die from bleeding damage explode, dealing x% damage in x AoE", etc. Am I correct in assuming that is the case? If so, the arsenal system seems extremely flexible assuming there is a big enough variety of legendary powers to be found on weapons. You can go "balls deep" into one main skill or dip a little into several different ones depending on the weapons you use.
What are the options for a 2h-only build without any switching between other type of weps? I just want to use 2h mace/sword all the time without being required to have dual-wields?
so i still dont get it, if i mainly use 2 handed sword for my ww do i pick its technique in my arsenal as well? or i pick some other one as my sword bonusses from arsenal are active regardless?
Question. Say I use death blow with a sword that does 500 damage. If I swap it to be duel wield and each weapon does 255 do the damage stack so now I’m doing 510 damage? Bc I only see the blow being done with one weapon while duel so I’m wondering if it just picks the stronger of the two duel wields. Thanks
So if I select a mace as main weap damage do I also get the mace bonus form arsenal system automatically? and i can just go select 2 hander sword form arsenal for 2 bonuses?
Do legendary powers of weapons count if they are not on the one I am using the skill with? For example i got + to thorns on my 2 hand mace but i use a 2 hand slashing weapon for rend and flay.
You use arsenal system to what skills you use. Its not "dont worry. Arsenal is a good boost regardless..." no like if your whirlwinding, your better off with 2H axe then sword... sure if the sword is higher stats use sword, but IF it was a 2H axe you would be even better off..
Any barbarian needs to have Berserk up 100% of the time, have 3 shouts up so you dont get 1 shot.... then its about WW or Ground Slam - period.... anything else is useless in end game lvl 95+ :( No shields, cant even hold a bow, so no tanks, nothing unique, no throws, no singer....
The NDA only dropped yesterday. Only Barb, Rogue and Sorc can be talked about. Raxx will probably be covering them too or you can just go to Maxroll (the site he's using here) and read about them.
Aah, did they dumb down the system already? I thought that different skills required different weapons. Like you can only use a 2 handed mace for hota. Now i hear that you can use any weapon. What a let down… 😢
No matter how much they try to hype this game I'm sadly stuck with the vision this this game is going to be another Fifa/Diablo Immoral gambling addicts wet dream...
