Hi Rax, thanks for the video been watching since your D3 stuff.
Biggest part for me was how simple terms and showing on the screen at the same time. Like we used to do in school here in the uk - show and tell!
I dont know how possible it is, but videos like this for "how to sorcerer" or "how to barb" in this way would be great for alot of casual gamers like my partner. 10 mins here is the load outs you need for sorc fire/ice/lightning here is the tempers you want for x y z
I think it would help alot of people not just myself
I play only couch co-op with my partner, we did the same with D3 and moves into D4 when that came, we have watched you every season and all the information has been so helpful that by season 3 we were very confindent in what we were doing and able to get to 75+ nightmare dungeons and kill duriel several times etc so just wanted to say thanks and i'll look forward to your stuff in season 5 and beyond

For me, I liked to hear your thoughts and thinking process behind the choices you do. And you did great simplifying the process of what to do during the different phases to 100. So now the leveling seems more easy and approachable, and I can actually think for myself instead of braindead follow a guide. (Guides are great, but I also like to understand the why).
Demonstrating and showing during the explanations are very valuable, easier to follow along and see what you are talking about.
    Awesome work Raxx!

It's funny he jokes about going to PoE, but this experience also exists in much of PoE crafting. 90% of PoE's crafting mechanics exist to improve odds of hitting mods you want.

Great info Raxx! I consider myself a "Casual Try-Hard Dad Gamer". I play more than a lot of casuals but not enough as hardcore players with life and kids and all. I feel I understand the new systems and theories behind them but when you explain the magnitude of Tempering and how you go about it as you go up in World Tiers, it really helps me realize it is not a waste to temper or mess with those things prior to WT4. Guys if you make new alts as soon as you get yellow or legendary items you can put max level tempers you earned on you max level character on your new characters gear. For example say you get a legendary chestplate at level 15 you can put the temper that gives you max life and it’s between 300-500 which is insane amounts of health for level 15 do this on all gear that can take health you’ll be able to tank everything in the early game. Something I discovered is max level Elemental surge is insanely good early game. Use a basic skill that has a high lucky chance and put elemental surge on all weapons. On two handed you get a chance to do 8000 damage and 4000 damage on one handed which is insane damage early game. This should carry you until level 60-70 then you should start transitioning to your end game build once you start getting ancestral items.

The tempering section of this video had me laughing irl. The funny part is that I imagine the only people who can't intuitively receive a recipe, see it offers a crap ton of damage, and proceed to go x9 their damage at the blacksmith, blows my mind. I imagine it's just the 5 year olds who haven't been doing that by default.
Of course, it's very detailed; Raxx did a great job explaining. It just made me chuckle that people have to be told to do this when the tooltips show you'll do substantially more damage, if you go do this easy task.

You get yellows with level 10, and ring / amu level 15, if you temper all of it, you are fine until word tear 3, than you get your first batch of sacred gear. If you temper it, this is fine until level 55 (when you can carry world tier 4 gear), do at level 55 the capstone to play it safe (with your starting sacred gear), than switch to ancestory gear.
That starting WT4 gear with two tempering slots, should be fine until level 70-80. From level 65 you start to drop masterwork items, and than you slowly replace your starting WT4 with masterwork gear.

I feel bad for the noobs who think attack power is an indicator of a good build or any type of power increase. It's a completely arbitrary number. The numbers that matter are the specifics like weapons damage, stats, and flat/ additive / multiplicative damage types. My paragon node essentially gives me 50% more damage for every ability casted, whether I have it on my paragon board or not my attack power doesn't increase or decrease at all. Yet it quite literally doubles my DPS. Don't be trapped by attack power as a number , check out a maxroll damage guide

The events in NM dungeons are not consistent. You don't always get them, and time spent running around looking for everything you can click on in a dungeon is wasted. So I don't really care if they give eleventy-gajillion-xp-per-femto-second. For an AVERAGE player who doesnt have their every action planned out before they make their character, Helltide is the way to go. For diablo playing androids who can run every random permutation of NM dungeon in their sleep and has the location of every possible dungeon event memorized with an optimized route for each, that might be a few seconds faster. Paper calculations rarely translate well to actual gameplay.

When you’re on your 12th D4 character and you realise you’ve been levelling wrong the entire time 😢 Thanks for this Rax. Literal game changer. I had allowed myself to be conditioned into thinking enchanting, imprinting, tempering before 100/ancestral was a complete waste of time. Watched this yesterday with my Barb at 50 in tier 3. Applied your ideas and a couple of hours later I’m 84 and decimating everything in helltides and nmd’s. Love it.

I'm lvl 64 barb rn. Been playing mostly solo, just doing t4 nm dungeons. I have a pretty decent build rn, I haven't failed out of a dungeon yet and enemies are 15+ levels ahead of me.
I say that just to emphasize the fact I haven't tempered or enchanted anything. I only break shi down at the smith, and I only hit the occultist once for the quest.
I'm surprised how much of an effect tempering/enchanting has. The system seemed convoluted and I didn't feel like learning or reading anything, so I've straight ignored it until today. So excited to go test and see how my build improves haha. The mf dust devil size temper is nuts, can't believe I didn't know 😅😂

    • @Nomdro

Also what helped me from the vid, was literally just breaking down the concepts of tempering/enchanting, when playing with friends you don't really got time to read a tutorial and get in the nitty gritty. So this definitely helped me understand the systems (which are quite a lot tbh, since everything in this 40 min vid was so useful) and exactly what to prioritize for barb at least.

One of the things I found most helpfull was talking about not trying to micro-manage or perfect your gear. I wasted a lot of time doing just that. A few pieces drop each run and I would try to perfect them, the stats, or resists while trying to level up to T4.

I find that NMD in WT3 hardly reward any glyph XP. I just run Helltides until WT4, then switch to NMD. This way I stock up on all the helltides mats, like Angelbreath and Veiled Crystal's, that I won't have to worry about it again. And NMD in WT4 reward enough XP for you to max all 7 glyphs before you hit 100. At least it was enough for me.

I’m running infernal hordes but still spending too much time reviewing gear drops. What’s the gear strategy once I’ve set my current gear up? Since it’s all legendary lvl 60 gear do i sell or salvage EVERYTHING until I get to Tier 4? At end of hordes do I choose gear or mats or gold?

Do you ever fuck with dodge while leveling?
There is a defensive aspect that gives 5-20% life recovery when you dodge, and another that gives you 5-10% fortify on dodge. Each of those aspects gives you 8% flat dodge for a total of 16% which WILL NOT appear on the character sheet but does seem to work.
You can get natural dodge rolls 5-7% on legs, boots, and amulet for 15-21% dodge and another 5-7% defensive tempered dodge roll on helmet, chest, legs, and amulet for another 20-28% dodge. This adds up to 51-65% dodge with 100% uptime and 100% chance to 5-20% heal and 5-10% fortify when you dodge.
The healing is scaled by healing effectiveness, which helps that stat be less useless.
WHY? Why do this? Do you let a toddler farm helltides for you? I do. My girl likes the horse and big slams on baddies. She does not understand much else about the game, since she’s 3 and this is her first game.
WHAT ELSE IS NEEDED TO TODDLER AFK HELLTIDES?
1-2 rolls of Life Per Second helps a ton with the randomness of dodge, especially if there are not a lot of small hits flying around. I usually avoid rerolling ONE of these rolls.
Besides that, you want Juggernaut aspect for 85% phys reduction since your toddler doesn’t use Evade anyway. And finally, you used 3 defensive aspects already, so whatever resistances you can get elsewhere is valuable. Jewelry that comes with sockets on it is primo for getting fire, lightning, and poison res for helltides.
    OFFENSE?
you do you. I’ve found that boiling blood aspect on the amulet + guaranteed overpower aspects and skills with large AOE everywhere else works well for the toddler strategy.
On Barb, that’s usually upheaval. Big upheaval makes it so she doesn’t miss, so that’s a nice temper for ancestral weapons. Also, thorns is awesome for toddler gameplay. Not the razor plate body armor, just stack life in WT4 and then let your life pool do the thorns for you.
    On Druid, pulverize.
On necro, blood surge + minions for AFK safety.
Rogue and Mage, idk. I haven’t played them recently, but the defensive I mented above is amazing for any non-barrier build.
    WHY NOT?
You lose a lot of life and res doing this, as well as two defensive aspects. You lose a damage explicit and damage temper on your amulet. You might not need this healing if you actually play the game and are not AFK / a toddler.
