    The actor who played Count Dooku, Christopher Lee, was well known to older audiences, since he used to play a vampire, more precisely, Count Dracula. At the start of his career, since he was very, tall, he played the rôle of the creature of Frankenstein. And later, he played the rôle of Count Dracula in 4 or 5 other movies, which were made by same production (Hammer) with the same actors. In all of these movies, he had another well known colleague from the Star Wars fans, Peter Cushing (Grand Moff Tarkin) Christopher Lee is a fascinating man and actor, very well suited for the rôle of Count Dooku and later, Saruman.

Some users of niman would get thrashed by most masters of dueling forms like Makashi, Juyo, Djem So, etc. Others like exar kun who use it in a much less textbook way and integrate effective force attacks all the time, will be really effective. If a certain style is best suited to your overall fighting style, physicality and force abilities, none will truly be a limitating unless you only stick to "by the book" jedi manual type usage of the form.

    I personally believe form 2 plus form 3 would make for the best all around dueling style. Form 2 is what lightsabers were made for. The precision it allows for is incredible. Lightsabers don't need to be used like clubs. Adding form 3 for the ultimate defense closes the gaps in form 2. Stopping form 5 users like Anakin from building momentum that could overpower form 2.

  • @jennaherman3859
    @jennaherman3859 Год назад +1

    One thing i find interesting is that Makashi was good in 1v1 duels but generally weak vs multiple opponents at least historically. Yet Dooku was such a master of it he was able to match foes engaging him in 2+vs Dooku fights or even vs 1 opponent using 2 weapons another weakness of the form (shown in Episode 2 when Anakin matches Dooku for a while despite Dooku's Experience, remember at this time Anakin is just 18 and only has 10 years of training under his belt).
    The only jedi to match him in combat were Yoda, Probably Mace Windu (dont remember if they actually met in combat tho), Anakin and Obi-Wan (tho in this case neither could get the upper hand the defensive style of Obi-Wan just meant Dooku rarely penetrated his defense but at the same time without help Obi-Wan couldnt land a hit either. Which is probably why Dooku often Used the Force to nock Obi-Wan down.)
    In Anakin tho i think Dooku found an almost perfect opponent. Both were almost evenly matched till their final encounter. And while Dooku often escaped Anakin their fights between their first and last meetings often resulted in draws. Im not sure if Sidious wanted Dooku to ensure Anakin was a strong fighter which is why the 2 had so many encounters but it would make sense. Anakin was a young man strong in the force and a skilled warrior, Sidious however hated physical combat. You can see this by the apprentices he chose. Darth Maul was a dangerous assassin and warrior, beaten by a young Obi-wan. Dooku was also a skilled duelist but he was older and the dark side takes a toll on ones body as they age.
    Anakin however was young, skilled in starship and lightsaber combat, the "chosen one" of prophecy, a good strategist amd had a secret love affair with a senator and was married to her. These were all things Sidious could use to tempt and thus turn Anakin to the dark side. Even in episode 1 Sidious states he would watch Anakins career closely. Meaning he saw the boy as a potential apprentice and enforcer he just had to steer him in the "right" direction.

    “How fortunate I am… to have an apprentice who feels it is appropriate to lecture me.”

    “And only then did Dooku understand that he’d been suckered.
    Skywalker’s Shien ready-stance had been a ruse, as had his Ataro gymnastics; the boy was a Djem So stylist, and as fine a one as Dooku had ever seen. His own elegant Makashi simply did not generate the kinetic power to meet Djem So head-to-head. Especially not while also defending against a second attacker.
    It was time to alter his own tactics.”

There were Jedi and Sith at the time of the Clone Wars that could best Yoda, Count Dooku could have absolutely done so if he pressed his attack during attack of the Clones. Palpatine could have bested Yoda if they were in an open field or something like that where Yoda had limited objects to bounce off of, Anakin could have done so during Order 66 if his power and skill continue to grow as he was feeding off of the death and destruction at the temple.

      I have always thought that the argument against it being good against blaster fire was incorrect. Form 2 is about precision, if you can block, parry or deflect a lightsaber blade from a Force user, that same accuracy should be able to block and deflect blaster fire. I have become a fan of Form 6, it gives you basic concepts of the other forms and allows you to take a deeper dive into Forms that fit your ability, age, and morality at a particular point. Add in Form #7 at times, because in a duel to the death, there are no rules.

  • @Sardonac

    Videos like this one are great, but they also highlight some of the nonsense and hyperbole that star wars writers are often guilty of. For example, if form 2 was typically the best form for dueling other lightsaber combatants, then why would Palpatine ever bother to master more than 2 forms? It's simply a terrible use of one's time, and leaves little room for character development. Dooku's mastery of a fencing form matches his patrician character, just as Kenobi's matches his defensive and borderline-pacifist personality. Dooku's also explains why he was so deadly to the Jedi, while Kenobi's speaks to why he survived so many battles. But why on Earth would the Palpatine master all seven? It's an idea that smacks of people trying to put these characters into 'tiers' rather than building out coherent characters in a relatable universe.

Dooku feared windu when in the geonosis arena mace single handedly beheaded the galaxy's best bounty hunter like it was nothing, dooku looked stunned and afraid and this would surface again if he had to face mace. Not only was Mace Windu the second most powerful jedi behind yoda but he has also shatterpoint which would ultimately ensure dooku would lose his battle with master windu.
