Lightsabers and their variants have to be some of the coolest fictional weapons imaginable
You’re right👌🏻💯
of course
I think bro forgot about the hacksmith
Yeah I love how they’re so simple but amazing as f
true
Dual-phase Splitsaber with Shoto and Crossguard modes.
Cal got himself one of the most practical sabers in Star Wars.
5 likes and No replies? Let's get this to 66k likes!
He is fairly practical in general
His crossguard blade is also longer than the standard which is 1 meter the crossguard is 1.5 meters long. It's like a dual phase. It could also be heavy because of excess energy coming from one end being circumvented by 2 small emitters.
@@baki484 His emitters are also tuned for different length in different modes: his dual wielding has one small and one normal blade, but when he switches to double blade they both are standard length.
And yes, It seems most logical that length and weight of his crossguard stance is of two emitters converging into a single powerful blade, with stabilizing side vents.
Yah cal imo has the best saber
Crossguard lightsabers would be functionally better if the cross guard was made of a lightsaber resistant material instead of plasma. That way it can protect the user's hand without endangering further hence defeating its purpose
Edit: *sigh*… yes like beskar. You don’t need to mention it
It's a very dumb design that's only made to look unique
@@wintertrooper7918 it is, that's why I suggested an improvement to the idea
You make a lot of sense. Similar to like a great sword, maybe they could use Beskar guards since cross guards are as uncommon as beskar. Obviously, as shown in The Mandalorian, beskar is lightsaber resistant. Now we need to get a character using this.
@@caseyynelmss tbh my dream lightsaber design would be a double bladed lightsaber with cross guard on one side. I’d use it like a Zweihänder in duels or very close quarters and double bladed when outnumbered
Fr
One variant wasn't mentioned: the Long-handle Lightsaber. Meant to resemble long-handle swords like the nagamaki, pudao, and the swordstaff of different ancient cultures, this lightsaber variant provides more leverage and handling than standards lightsaber. It can be used both as a sword and staff during combat. Darth Chratis, Darth Nihl, and Zao are among those who have used this variant.
Hell, I have mine in a yellow blade made by Ultrasabers and brought it to a ComiCon in Indy earlier this year, and I love it! The people at Ultrasabers were there and were kind enough to upgrade my baby with newer parts!
So like a lightsaber pike
@@wintertrooper7918 Negative. A lightsaber pike is a lightsaber with a long shaft, making it more like a glaive, naginata, or guandao. What I have has the blade and hilt of equally long lengths.
Very cool as it gives more leverage than the double bladed lightsaber with one blade but less range than the pike. A nice even middle ground.
And now because of you I’ll be explaining to my wife why I just built two custom sabers and will be spending 2k. Luckily I chose heavy ultraedges so…we’ll probably end up battling it out
13:12 Well, if we’re going there I’d say my favorite lightsaber is the one from the Phineas & Ferb Star Wars episode where they heavily mod their lightsabers to an entertaining degree.

I think the coolest lightsaber variant is the light saber nunchaku, which was wielded by Ventress in the DLC for the classic Star Wars: Battlefront 2. However, I would choose the hinged double-bladed lightsaber like the Temple Guards.
@jayycanfukurwif3 Look up Bruce Lee lightsaber and you'll see him wield it. It looks sick as fuck.
I’m interested in hearing more about things such as vibroblades, in relation to how they differ & resemble a standard saber. Also, more about whips. This was interesting and at parts, funny. (That bit at the end with the Lego Maul octosaber!) Thank you
I've got two that you missed. The Death Star could be seen as a sort of over powered Lightsaber Rifle as it used Kyber crystals to power it's laser. And the "Contained Energy Axe" was a lightsaber axe.
Hmm. I’m not sure I’d consider that any sort of saber, so much as a Kyber-powered weapon, as it had no sword/sabre-like properties. Both of the rifles weren’t really variations of lightsabers either, so much as they employed or utilized existing sabers as fuel/ammo/etc. They were systems into which lightsabers were placed.
@@vipe650r Semantics. You knew exactly what I meant. Don't be a troll.
@@SaimerenHows this trolling tho, Comment simply disagreed with putting rifles (and thus the death star) in the light sabre category.
What about the kyber daggrr in han solo movie
@@devinfreebern8449 Daggers are just mini swords. In this case, small lightsabers.
By far my favorite Saber design was Asajj Ventress' curved hilt that joined into a Saber staff
The telescoping lightsaber pike from the Knights of the Eternal Throne trailer is the variant that I'd love to see brought into canon. It can be used as a normal lightsaber, or you can extend the handle for extra reach.
Forgot the ones only seen in the Phineas and Ferb star wars crossover episode
Very obscure
or the rick and morty one.
Smh how could he forget that! It's one of the most notable lightsaber types...
I’d use a standard double blade lightsaber, with a yellow crystal. Simple, but effective
I'd want my saber on my arms, extending past my hand, like the doomsayers built in knife.
You could be aggressive defensive and use piercing moves like dooku.
I'd love to see a starwars charicter use it, I've always invisioned myself using a saber that way.
Google up the foundation's blade from fortnite it's the closest that I've ever seen to my child imagination of my sabers, I'd wield both arms, maybe with some mando' tech pure fucken chaos.
I'd dual wield green sabers
dual blade is much less effective than single blade - it was proven countless of times
Jedi Knight Academy i always used Dual Standard Lightsabers.
The Darksaber's creator wasn't the ONLY Mandalorian Jedi, he was the FIRST.
Now we have Din Grogu.
(uses a Light Parasol) I'M MARY POPPINS, Y'ALL!!!😆😆😆
Her skills at taping the potential of The Force are practically perfect.
You forgot the war dragon rider lightsaber. It's a saberstaff, but has a small blade in between the ends, for a total of three blades.
Sounds impractical
@@darthbane5357 It's beyond impractical, it's stupid.
I mention it on my other channel in a video I did covering every single lightsaber type.
ruclips.net/video/ekjo2yMGtKI/видео.htmlsi=MJ-Xt5UUSaXjOxer
@@darthbane5357 hey, impracticality is the foundation sci-fi weapons stand upon!
Call me Gen. Grevious because I CHOOSE ALL OF 'EM
The gauntlet one that was gonna be wielded by plo would have been awesome to see
Split saber, green crystal. I love the idea of Jedi consulars and the split saber is just so efficient.
Crossguard lightsabers were a mistake, unless the emitters are made of something lightsaber resistant. It doesn't accomplish the function of a crossguard. In all other lightsabers, the emitter is a weakness. You slash it, the blade goes out. Kylo Ren's actually makes sense. It's making up for other faulty characteristics. Other than that, it comes off too much as someone just thinking it would look cool.
Considering Lightsaber blades also magnetically lock on to each other, a crossguard is basically useless.
Most cross guard sabers are made because of cracked crystals just like kylo’s. The vents are to make it not blow up in their hands
@@joshuarobinson6011 Most? When else are there crossguard lightsabers? Only other time I remember seeing a bunch was High Republic stuff when there were way too many for “faulty crystals” to make sense.
I mean, it does look cool though (at least when Cal wielded it)
I would use a double bladed lightsaber, with the bottom saber being a dual-phase shoto. It'd mainly be used single-bladed as a standard saber with a somewhat longer hilt as to keep the second hidden. The shoto would detach and as to be used as two separate sabers.
Only reason I got this idea is due to a Darth Vader toy from when I was kid that featured a huge hilt with a small dagger like saber that could be removed or added to the bottom.
I'd definitely use Cal Kestis's saber, its just got so many options
Unpopular opinion I love the Inquisitors lightsabers there just so cool looking intimidating and versatile. Its easily could be the best saber in star wars the inquisitors are just under trained and there made to be weaker then Vader and Sidious so they dont pose a threat. If a Fully trained Sith or Jedi wielded one of those bad boys ow it would be over for nearly any enemy that crossed their path
That doesn't count his one is the basic options the customizations don't count
@@garyoak9649 ahh who cares what counts its his opinion.
I fr loved the tonfa ligtsaber bc of how the design looked...then next is the dark saber. But I mean the other sabers are just insane and I never knew there was a lot of different designed lightsabers.
Ezra should have kept the hybrid blaster-saber. Yes, he had grown as a Jedi and didn’t need the extra trick to keep up, but he was also not in a position where he should be turning down any advantage. Also, it lets him stun people, which frankly is a rare option for lightsabers to have.
Totally
This isn't necessarily about the video itself but I really really liked the art of Ezra on the cover, it looked really cool.
So i kinda have an idea for a lightsaber. Similar to ezras and some inquisitors, it would have a hand guard like a regular saber, but instead of it being metal, it would have an electric current that could block other lightsabers and could be used as a stunning attack
I also love the idea that a jedi or sith could replace a missing arm with a lighsaber. It wouldn't be good at blocking blasters, but it would be a suprise to anyone fighting them up close. Like an assassin but star wars.
Great content man! I was hooked after 1 video. Keep it up my force wielder brother
Thank you so much for this!!!
I really liked the blade used by the guy in the star wars visions episode where he couldn't retract the blade
I'd use a guard shoto, with reinforced areas of either vibroblade or beskar to assist in deflecting other sabers.
I think it would be cool to see some of these as stances in jedi survivor sequel especially light saber pike
light pike all day, historically, long pointy stick win, and being able to mod the shaft so you can utelize the shorter blade for CQC would be an added bonus
A fine addition to my collection
The Death Stars, Star Destroyers on the Exagol and Star Killer Base can also be seen as lightsabers. after all, they too are powered by Kyber Crystals.
Wouldn't a light-pike using a magma kyber crystal retain all the advantages and minimal disadvantages?
Greater reach
Dangerous blade that spits lava is now near your enemy and not you
Still heavier and slower
Minimize the danger by using beskar for important parts of the hilt
this is the weapon I'd want for a a duel
I'd probably want a dual-phased saber with a longer beskar hilt to allow for more varied combat in general.
I have three things to say about this video.
1. You forgot to mention that in the Legends timeline, Luke Skywalker used a Shoto saber to counter lumia's lightwhip.
2. That parasol lightsaber and lightsaber gauntlet looks awesome. I wish they made a toy of those.
3. Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi must have had waterproof lightsabers in Episode 1, seeing how they were able to go swimming on the way to the Gungan city and use them later to fight battle droids. Also, Luke must have waterproofed his lightsaber prior to Episode 5.
Would love too see more green an purple in the future, i also didnt know there was orange lightsabers so that was cool
Love your videos
Love watching you Vlad
I'm digging the flicker fase with red Crystal dishonorable saber maybe so but huge advantage
Id do the Inquisitors lightsaber. Its so versatile but Inquisitors ngl are just undertrained if a full sith or jedi was trained to use it boy they would be a menace to fight.
All of these lightsabers are so cool AM so excited to see more New lightsaber types in future of star wars
only if disney will give up star wars to lucasfilm again 🤷♂️
oo a flickerphase saber or foil sounds like quite a handy idea ;)
I like the whip, scythe and the gauntlet they look fun to use ngl
I would wield a crossguard for sure. I just love its cool look.
So you want to cut off your hand in a fight
@@wintertrooper7918 😂
The light halbert. Its a cross guard saber with a long grip and sabers out of both ends but one with an equidistant cross guard snd blade. Super impractical but pretty badass looking with the halbert blade end dragging behind you.
I’d love an axe or warhammer variant. Like a saber that could be supercharged from the force from a Jedi’s last stand. That’d be cool
That umbrella light saber will forever be my favorite.
Hard choice given their are multiple interesting ones but i think double bladed that can be split into two offers the most versatile option so csn use a double bladed, two sabers or a single one
I also think should do a video on none saber melee weapons
What about the 5-bladed spinning lightsabers from the Phineas and Ferb Star Wars crossover thing?
I'm curious, what about the force saber made it require use of the dark side? I love the thought of a light foil and force saber combo
Well. My main jedi in swtor uses a lightsaber hilt that has holes in it similar to heated exhaust tubes has yellowish orange crystal that looks exactly like a lava blade and also the incinerator tunning which makes the hilt look like it’s super heated at the emitter section and the blade looks like it produces a lot of heat. So out of all these I guess I’d use a lava crystal even though my jedi is light side. I rotate between that and a white cross guard lightsaber
I really like the splitsaber!!
Lord Corvax’s lightsaber can be considered a single-blade saber or a new type ?
I would use a double-bladed lightsaber, hinged double-bladed lightsaber, and/or a splitsaber. They would be ideal for the completely new form I’d create, which involves using The Force to rapidly spin the blades in front of you as a shield and also using acrobatics. Overall the form would be primarily a more defensive form, but at times, used highly aggressively during offensive manuvers
I feel like cal kestus’s lightsaber should’ve been an honorary mention. I could change forms into single, staff, dual and cross gaurd. I don’t think any other lightsabers have EVER done that before.
I would personally use a double-bladed lightsaber but rarely ever use the second blade; meaning I could have the benefits of the longer hilt and keep a hidden blade to surprise unsuspecting enemies
That’s a good idea
There are so many lightsaber variants to choose from, but my favorites are the Dual Phase Lightsaber, Split Saber, the Standard Lightsaber, the Lightsaber-Blaster Hybrid, and the Saber Cane, but if i had to choose only one, it would be the Split Saber. I would be a Jedi wielding the Split Saber in combat against my enemies
I hope at some point they do another blaster hybrid saber in the style of the Gunblade from Final Fantasy.
id choose the lightsaber pike or umbrella but if i could make my own it would be a trident design with the side blade being large vents that can spun like a shield O and an adjustable length hilt
This seems really smart! Like a lightsaber with a hero's engine gaurd
I'd personally go for a saber-pike/shoto blade combination. I can hold the smaller blade while I'm using the pike and use it to defend if someone closes the gap.
I'd make a variant saber where the blades took on a halbert shape with an axe head on one side, a pike on the other and a spear tip. The handle being a long foldable handle for easy storage. With shoto function to be able to adjust the size of the axe blade and the length of the pike and spear tips. And, water proof.
i was expecting a lightsaber bayonet attached to a laser musket rifle
I'd use far killer for dealing with long range attacks and a broad saber and the technique trakata for up close and personal
i would actually put attachments on my sabers and maybe merge/fuse/join them together. Such as, my lightsaber gauntlet would have the abilities of every other lightsaber like it can blast, act as a whip, be used as a spinning saber shield, etc.
I’m sure yoda “hated” it 😂😂 considering his wise words of “fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to sufferingggg” 🤔
I would most likely want the sickle bladed lightsaber or the great lightsaber which are both very different but I feel like I'd have fun and be good with both
The blaster hybrid saber reminds me a lot of the weapon used by the title character in the Ulysses 31 cartoon.
The Lightsaber Rifle is basically Star Wars’s version of the Wing Gundam and Wing Zero’s buster rifles from Gundam Wing, but smaller. Like the buster rifles, it still packs one helluva punch. However, like the Wing Gundam’s (TV version) buster rifle, it’s only limited to a few shots.
I like the second form of light saber pike and light foil.
If I had to choose a lightsaber I think I would want a Zweihandler styled cross guard saber in either black or white. Meaning a triple handed length handle with a blade between 5 and 5 and a half foot long similar to my family sword. We’re Poles and have a claymore styled great sword that was passed down our family line until it ended up in my father’s hands and finally me. It’s seen warlike and decorative purposes. It was even involved in the resistance of the nazis and survived the Warsaw insurrection. I think I would be trying to pay homage to it.
I would wield curved, flicker phase split sabers. One purple, one orange.
I always find myself falling in the gray Jedi zone. As such I would chose a Duel-Phase Light Saber, with a Terresta (dark core) orange Crystal modified with a red Bifurcating Cyclical-Ignition Pulse Lightsaber.
I would kill for this to be a series. A lightsaber academy like cobra kai or something
What lightsaber or lightsabers I would use has been an in-depth conversation I've had with a lot of my star wars fan friends, i personally would learn the trick Darth Treya used to have 3 lightsabers fight without me holding them, while I would personally be armed with a guard-shoto and a lightwhip.
I would definitely have a Broadsaber kitted with either a lava kyber crystal or the acidic kyber crystal and a scythe saber with either of those 2 kyber crystals as well.
ima double-sided all day every day love darth maul and his saber but i find it to be useful as you get more control in defence and more attack in general btw i follow u on tt and on yt love ur stuff so much
If you ever trained with staff or spear,a swordsman is at a huge disadvantage. Con= space permits movement. Staff lightsaber would be my first choice. Second choice would be split or folding. Never held a lightsaber, never comfortable with a sword. 15 years of experience practicing with a staff or spear. Was able to disarm/defeat 2 swordsman of similar skill. Wooden swords, wooden staff, had the swords been metal. I would be short 2 fingers.
@red five... the page at the very beginning of the video. Where dose that come from?
I have an idea for a better blaster-saber. A bayonet hand canon: get two kyber crystals, one for a shoto-saber bayonet, and the other for a kyber blaster. The hilt can adjust between straight or curved (though to do it mid combat would require special designs)
My favorite types of Star wars sabers are Standard lightsaber, curved-hilt saber, Farkiller, & Saberstaff.
I think I'd probably wield a purple crossguard saber with a metal crossguard. That, or the lava saber, considering I've played the Vr Star Wars game, "Vader Immortal"
lightsaber whip dual would be insane in live action
The retosaber power pack feels like a potentially really cool game mechanic
What was the weapon used by Dryden Vos? How is that different from a light saber and what about the electrical looking staffs and tonfas used by imperial guards? Great content! Keep it up!
All these lightsaber types and even learning about the prototype fotm of lightsabers was immensely intriguing as heck~!
A curious question?
Is possible for a lightsaber's blade to change form via a mechanism on the handle from a sword to a whip version?
Or was there something else required to achieve such an effect?
🤔🤔🤔
Yes, in the high republic
There is a Jedi, who wields a purple bladed light saber that is able to turn from light saber to light whip by twisting a ring on the hilt
@@naseemweathers8358 Ooh~.
That's actually wicked as heck!
If I'm to guess how that works, it most likely alters the saber's solidity.
Loosing just enough to give it that noodle limp-like form.
And I heard that lightsaber blades can be adjusted in length and such.
Awesome information nonetheless, thx very much~.
😙👍
Either the light whip or the double-sided spinning blade, being able to fly could give a big advantage to a fight, imagine just floating over someone and attacking them from behind before they knew what happened.
Forgot about the paring lightdaggers used in Solo
If i could merge all of these lightsabers into one id be pretty happy
My favorite is Corran Horn's two phase lightsaber. Two different colors and two different lengths
Definitely would use a Splitsaber. The idea of having two lightsabers turn into a dual with out the clunkyness of a dual lightsaber sounds op
I'm definitely taking the armor
I want a friggin lightsaber arm blade type deal lmao, would be sick asf
Combine with Ghostfire crystal and WHAM
I would use a curved hilt. It would put less strain on my wrist, and I wouldn't be skilled enough to deflect blaster fire anyway.
dookus curved lightsaber is my favorite.
how do I get a poster of that photo (of a poster) of all the sabers together on a chart, I want one for my wall, so sick!
U forgot the 1 used before the energy blades, when they use sword with physical blade and a krystal in the hilt to add enrgy hilo
My top 3 Lightsabers would be the Crossguard, the Hinged Lightsaber Staff, and the Inquisitor varients.
A separable double bladed dark saber would be my dream
You should have also mentioned Phinease and Ferbs rotating lightsabers from the special starwars movie
I kind of think the standard lightsabers strength is in it's elegant simplicity, anything more only makes it gimmicky.
i would defenitely have the lightsaber pike. Its like the coolest lightsaber ive ever seen.
