      The stock one has a lot of issues with shift fork magnets, clutch dampers, etc. Lot of brittle stuff that breaks down compared to other DCTs. Had to have mine fully overhauled and rebuilt at only 27k, among many other owners. It was amazing after the overhaul but OEM i wouldnt be too confident in them.

    • @DTLaw00
      @DTLaw00 Год назад +4

      @Shad if well maintained they shouldn't have many problems with stock or bolt on power. In the early years little was known about proper maintenance of them including mitsubishi services intervals for it being way to long. In reality they need to be serviced every 30000km or 18600 miles and even earlier if tracking or driving hard.
      The only thing that can't be prevented and is more luck is the magnets failing which can cause only odd gears.
      Had mine for 100k km no problems.
      I built mine to handle more power and I agree they really do come alive after being built.

    • @justjsse8917
      @justjsse8917 Год назад +2

      Yep. Most people ruin them. Don't let the transmission get up to temp and just send it. When maintained and driven right it's amazing. Especially upgraded with 10 plate

    • @DTLaw00
      @DTLaw00 Год назад +1

      @justj sse Exactly right. Another mod that can help with the warming up is a heated sump which gets it up to temp much quicker and can do so while idleing not just driving.

They were pretty weak out the box. Ive got an Evo V so im in the evo clubs here in the UK etc. Lots of issues with Evo's through out the ages but they seemed to have carried over to the X. Another crazy one is the AYC pumps failing and corroding at just a few years old. Absolutely insane as they cost 1.5- 2k to replace. Deffo something to look out for if your in the market for one.

  • @CJLancerProphetAUS
    @CJLancerProphetAUS 11 месяцев назад +1

    When it comes to the fuel consumption and people saying how high it is, i reckon one thing people gotta realise is that the AWD plays a huge role, more weight, more maintenance, more power and torque and the engines working harder pulling all 4 wheels at the same time. Unlike your regular FWD or RWD cars (Depending on the model) the motor doesn’t need to work as hard unless if the car has a heavyweight engine. Even my mates 2.4L 08 VRX FWD lancer that he turbocharged making 300+hp, for a non evo x car (Same engine) he gets like 400-500km of tank (When he floors it) because he always travels high ways.., now if my mates lancer came with AWD it would get equally get terrible gas mileage like the evo would, It is kinda scary for these 4 bangers to be thirsty than a hulking v8 :/

    I'm sorry Ross - you obliterate Mitsubishi for not making these anymore and spending money on Tritons, yet you point out what was the reasons behind it - poor fuel economy etc etc. Not sure you know that Mitsubishi went bankrupt and was bought out by the Nissan Renault Alliance for dirt cheap. So their products will depend on what they allow Mitsubishi to focus on without eating into their segments.

      @@RossReviewsau I think us enthusiasts tend to look at these things through rose tinted glasses - no one in this day and age wants a new performance compact sedan that has fuel economy of a v6/v8, has the interior quality of a $20k car, rides like crap and cost $50k+. If you're a person who can afford those, they've already moved on to the germans. Mitsubishi would need to invest a lot of $$ into a dying segment that no one buys into for little return. Can make a hell of a lot more money by doing a sticker pack for Tritons in Thailand. You often talk about the loss of the aussie v8, well if people were buying them, we could still have them.

I paid 42.5 for mine with 88k on the clock, 6k more than the dealer (Bilia Volvo in Camberwell) had advertised. Of course all the salesmen had been driving it around while it was on their inventory, and had run up the miles (even after I had signed the contract) like the dodgy pricks they were.
