I get a kick out of some of these cars that you drive that have engine/power mods, but everything else is stock. I'm an MX-5 driver, do HPDEs, and did a 2.5 conversion, but did suspension and brake mods first. As Pirelli says, "Power is nothing without control". Anyway, pretty cool car, good vid as usual.
Noted when that m8 snapped the mud flap off... the tires! My daily has those tires, Michelin PS5... will still hold a lot of traction on damp roads, love them.
Had the top caliper carrier bolt fall out of my brake while on the highway once. The ominous *tink, tink, rattle, rattle, rattle, ka-CHUNK* as the bolt fell out, the caliper fell forward and jammed inside the barrel of my wheel, grinding it to a halt as I frantically pulled the car over to the shoulder of a off ramp was quite the experience.
The X gets a lot of stick from supposed Evo fans for not being a 'proper Evo' but when you look at the improvements it brought. Completely new chassis, far stiffer than the IX. Completely new lighter all alloy engine that will handle big power. SST gearbox option that Subaru owners could only dream of. The car is also pretty light when compared to other cars of the time, the FWD only Focus RS MK2 was heavier the the Evo X despite all the extra hardware underneath. It's just a pity we didn't get the Evo XI & XII we should of had, imagine the extra development we could of got had Mitsubishi had the money to finish the generation properly.
I have a X and I absolutely love it. I upgraded the SST to the Dodson Sportsman+ clutch core and now I never worry about power through the gearbox... And it's as good as my S3
I‘m absolutely with you, except for the Focus RS MK II being heavier than the X - thats not the case. Anyways way more attractive than the STi and most of the competition of that era
LOVE the SST box...I've looked around and I still can't find a comparable price performance car that has Everything that the Mitsu has in 2023 ie: 2.0 Turbo, AWD, SST
Glad to see the Evo X pushed to the limit In practically stock trim At the track. Watching some of these videos and people taking their car to the track. If you’re on a budget I’d definitely suggest a seatbelt harness upgrade along with some metal braided brake lines. You’d be surprised how big difference that can make.
I once ripped off my right inner fender at 240-250kmh ... it felt like the tire blew out but I somehow still had control.. the thing is at those speeds the wind resistance is so high, that anything that is not 100% bolted down, the wind will get underneath and rip it off...which was my case, the fender screws were slightly loose, I knew it and had forgotten about it..then at 250kmh the wind got under them and ripped everything off big time.
I love how smooth this 4 cylinder is. Lovely car. P.S. This is Britain for you mate : big ass mud flaps, dice hanging off the exhaust, wind deflectors and steering wheel covers to name but few so called '' Halfords'' first time mods haha.
