You just described me. My father wasn'loving or nurturing. I have recently forgiven him, but it still hurts. When my parents divorced, he didn't want anything to do with me. Before the divorce all he did was yell and hit. His way of potty training me was to beat on me.

I am a single mother and I was able to raise 3 amazing children who are now parents themselves. When they were young, I took a leap of faith (faith in God) and quit my full-time job to follow my dream of becoming a full-time, self-employed silversmith. I did it because I knew my children needed all of me and I had an even bigger dream; to be a good mother. I had no savings but somehow it worked. In God, all things are possible!

I dont ever giving up hope trying to find him. I went 34 years without my biological dad. I just found him through the DNA test on Ancestry. His sister did a family tree on there and I was match with her. Yes you do have a heavenly father who loves you deeply. I will be praying for you.

Best song ever. My daughter just had a birthday and she's fatherless. He says he cared about her but he didn't even call or answer the phone to tell her happy birthday even though she's only 2... But than i remember this song. I first heard it when I went to their concert and who knew the next year I'll end up pregnant and single. This song really brought me through. I was sad and hurt for my daughter but I realize the only father she'll ever need is God. He gave me her and He'll take care of her just like a father would. It hasn't been easy but with Him all things is possible and He makes ways when there seems to be no way. Guys like him will have to answer to God eventually so just keep praying for them.
Saturday is my 20th birthday. Once again my real father will not acknowledge this. This song, it says it all for a little girl whose daddy refuses to hold her. Instead God does all the holding for me, and how precious he is to do that.
It's not just about bad dads, it's about making good choices even when everyone else in your life doesn't. It's about the rewards you receive that are beyond measure when you are able to make the right choice in a difficult situation.

I always believed that God, was my father rather than Jesus. Jesus gave me so much that I can never fully repay and I'm so grateful for it, but I always felt like God who sent him down to us, was my father. That's why I don't like praying aloud, because I like to talk with God personally and I look up to him so much so my conversations are more than just "bless these people for coming and lord please help those in need, you know who they are" and so on, so forth; they're just too personal, something I can never have with my biological father.

My parents divorced when I was 4. My moms new husband adopted me and then for drank alot when he wasn't working. Never spent any time with us without a beer in his hand and blew smoke in my face for years. To this day they are still married but we are not really close at all. I knew this song is about a girl but I see how it can relate to me too. Christmas of 2012 I was called to attend a church service at Calvary Chapel of Melbourne, FL. I turned my life over to Jesus Christ that day and my life spiritually has been amazing since that day. Yes there have been ups and downs but more ups than downs. May God Bless you all and remember to always stand tall in your faith even if you are standing alone. Times are getting dark folks. But our Lord Jesus will guide us. :-)

Every time I listen to this song it makes me cry like a little baby! I've been walking with God now for a year and a half, and I feel exactly this. I love the path that Casting Crowns songs are taking first with Courageous, and now this one. Fathers are so important in the home. They are called to be the spiritual priests of their homes and so many aren't aware of the huge responsibility they have to God and to their families. Broken families is the norm in today's world and such a huge part of why we see so much hate, dissension and confusion in the world.

I first saw this video last year. Up until then I had been in love with Casting Crowns, been to concerts with my family. When I saw this video I got so upset knowing that there are kids out there who haven't had there mom or dad in there life's. I always thought that if I was anybody in this video, I would be the girls friend or maybe the girl herself, having a kid and not having the father to help. I never imagined I was the little girl. My mother told me 4 months ago that the man who I called dad, wasn't my dad. I was broken hearted. Knowing that there was a man out there, my father, that didn't want me. That he wanted an abortion. My birthday is next week, I'll be 14 and I want him soo much even if he didn't want me. Please pray for me. But, also pray for all the other kids like me. Pray for all the women who have to raise children on their own. Pray for the men who abandon their children so that they can become a better person. Thank you for reading my sad life story.
My mom married my step dad when I was 6. I never had much of a connection to him. On my 8th birthday I was told he is only my younger sisters' dad. I still am wauting to meet mine, and I am 12

My father is around he lives at home but...he's a very strong alcoholic and we never really get along. He always comes home late from the bar drunk. He never made me a priority in his life. He had always chosen beer over his family. I may be blessed to have a father but living with an alcoholic is not easy at all. A lot of times it feels like I have no father at all because he's gone at the bar doing god knows what. I know some girls have no father at all. But trust me... I would rather have no father than live with a drunk who takes out his anger on me and my mother. But my prayers go out for all of you who is going through the same situation or don't have a father at all.

It spoke to me, as a father whose two children are both with the Lord, and it was offered as a challenge to all men - as fathers, as husbands and as men of God - to step out, embrace our responsibilities and to be willing to tackle the 'wild beasts' we encounter in the desert! An awesome challenge and i was moved to tears by the story in the clip. Thank you Casting Crowns.

This song is awesome because it shows that God can do all things and bring us out of anything. My dad wasn't in my life when I was little and now he just gives me money when I need it. Fatherhood is more than providing for your children, it's about loving them as well. I'm glad Jesus was there to pick up the pieces of my life and I'm better off now with God in my life.

6 months ago, I thought that this was just "a good pro-life song" but a few months ago this took on a different meaning. I have a friend who just turned 25. We got to know each other through work. Her mom, sister, other family members and large group of friends recently got together for her birthday. Her father is conspicuously absent. He's been absent for most of her life. Another friend of mine has a beautiful daughter who is an abortion survivor. We're called to walk together and bear each other's weaknesses with love. Both of these women have embraced the Christian lifestyle, though they stumble at times. When I see this video, I am reminded of my friends and the crosses that they've had to bear. I am reminded that God is our heavenly father and we have a heavenly family even when our earthly ones fail us.

This song moves me to tears. I was abandoned by my father as a child and never knew why. I thought I was unwanted. I was fortunate enough to have a stepfather who did want me, but it still hurt being abandoned by my own father. Now, as a grown man, I have learned why, that my mother left him no choice, and we have a great relationship now. I have since forgiven him, but this song drudges up those old feelings of abandonment. I am working on revising some of the lyrics to be more fitting for a young man, because we get abandoned too. Beautiful song, moving lyrics, another emotional hit from a great Christian band.
I grew up in foster care - it took Jesus Himself to show me unconditional love! To show me I was not a mistake... He chose me... And I am no orphan... I am His child and I am dearly loved! If you're out here believing you're a mistake... That's a lie... God chose you... This world is not our home, because of Jesus we can be saved out of this world! It is a choice!

sometime grandparents are a awesome thing. my grandparents live next door all my life, my grandmother was my best friend growing up and taught me some great lessons. keep your chin up.
My father was married when he had an affair with my mom and she got pregnant. He gave her money to abort me but she didn't. My father was never around and even when my mom died when I was 5,he still didn't come around. I guess by being absence he made it clear that I was a mistake, that I was unwanted and unloved. I'm now 27 and the scars are still there. This song is my favorite song, it relates so much to me.

But I'm sure God and your Mom have been watching over you all these years. You are here for a reason, you have a purpose. Your mom had the b**lls that your father did not have (excuse my French) because SHE L*O*V*E*D YOU unconditionally from day 1. So make Mamma proud. :-) Scars cannot be easily erased, but they can be accepted. Your father's absence does not mean you are a mistake at all!! It's just that some people simply don't get it... He might have been terrified, no one taught him how to honor life (yours and his...!) or just be a coward... But it does not matter now. Just pray for him (yes... tough task... but pray), and be grateful for all the people that raised you and loved you. Join a group at church. God wants us brothers and sisters to share time in His house, at least on Sundays and birthdays. :-). Wish you love, inner peace and happiness.

You are special, you are loved ,you are blessed.God is doing something new that no ear has heard,no mind has conceived,just allow him to...I didn't grow up with my dad but I know Jesus took all my pains on the cross.I'll give you a secret on how I learnt to forgive him... I watched the passion of Christ then I asked myself if I would have Jesus go through that again for my unforgiving heart....my answer was a big no! I wouldn't say that I have completely healed but I know I am on the right track to that destination. You are NEVER alone!

Praise GOD! He is the father to the fatherless! #AMEN I would love to fill any child's wants for a father! I would bend over backwards to write that mans wrongs. For I love the children of GOD! This song, is so emotional! I had my mother and father, they are both passed, but I see in others what having no parent can do. I know now not having mine alive feels like and I can't imagine the life without a parent that lets you do like this. I would gladly do their absence work! Praise GOD! Praise Jesus! Thank you Father!
