Married then divorced... Reconciled after 7 years of no contact. We each found Christ while out on our own. Now we are remarried with a beautiful 5 year old and God is number one here. We are living out our happily ever after.... broken together... Thank you Lord

I promised God I would share my testimony and not leave out a shameful detail. I cheated on the love of my life out of selfishness God used it in an incredible way. I abandoned my life of drugs alcohol and decietfulness. Prayed for healing of the man God gifted to me. I hurt his son. I couldn't fix the relationship on my own God had to heal his heart I couldn't I prayed and gave my life fully to God. He honored this. I'm ashamed of my sin but what the devil intended for evil God used so that someone could see how God can change a person that didn't have any love in their heart. I'm truly full of love now and that only happened when I surrendered myself to him. We are currently mending our relationship. All thanks to God. Praise be to God all glory is His.
I see so many beautiful hearts in these comments, many of which have beautiful testimonies of God reconciling thier marriages.. I wanted to share a little of my story as it is different from what I see in the comments and very different from what I was pleading with God for. I was married, 4 beautiful children. 7 years together, some very hard times throughout the years.. I gave all that i possibly could to the marriage, it felt as though I was ripping parts if myself to put into the marriage.. one night, she said I want a divorce. Just like that it was done, she refused to come home. I became a single father of 4, not the life I had planned. I was absolutely crushed, the worst pain I had ever experienced in my life. I begged God to take my life, I just couldn't bare the pain, fear, anxiety and crushing sadness. I begged God to bring her back, a changed woman, and to rebuild our marriage. This song held me through some dark times, gave me hope, and bought out deep wells of pain and tears.. 4 years later, my children are happy and well, strong and well rounded.. for me, God bought me the perfect woman.. perfect woman for me and my children, now I am happily married.. something I never, ever imagined could or would happen.. God is so faithful, if you hold onto him, absolutely cling to him, he will move in ways your mind will not be able to comprehend.. let go, let go of what you are hoping for, what you are wanting, and completely let it go to God. Trust him no matter the outcome, and he will surely move in your life. It just might not be what you think you want or need.. but I assure you, if you trust in him and are obedient, it will be the greatest thing! Much love
I couldn't have worded that any better! God became my Father when I was abandoned in an orphanage when I was 10. A week or 2 later my mom came and got me! I had seen my Father's love, grace, mercy, power. With my marriage I felt like I had been forsaken. We separated. I told my husband it would take God Himself telling me to stay, because I was done. To my astonishment that's exactly what He did! He wrote it in black and white and put it in front of me. ...1 Corinthians 7:10-17. Although Not the answer I wanted, He showed His Love, power and mercy. He gave me what I needed not what I wanted at the time. It took time before we reunited, and we have to answer for the hurt it caused our children, and almost 3 years later we are still healing. This song I cried myself to sleep during our separation. Now when I hear it, God reminds me of where we've been, where we are at, and where we're heading! We both were broken from scars of our childhoods, but what was tearing us apart God used to reveal part of what unites us. He works in very mysterious ways, and I still lean on Jeremiah 11:29! I look forward to seeing all of my brothers and sisters in Christ at the Family Feast with our Father and Jesus!!❤❤❤

I know I don't have a great relationship track record However I was given a """ dear john """ letter last labor day In hind sight it was like she was terminating one of her employees Yes I too told God that if she wanted to reconcile I would take her back and try harder at communicating I know in my heart she will never come back I have committed this year of 2024 to taking time off for myself and to rediscover God and His plans for me I have participated on a missions trip thru my church I also have helped at a local Bible camp at work week to get it ready for the season Where I went on the first missions trip ....... We are in the early planning stages of going back this winter for possibly a longer time frame Learning to be single again and growing in the grace and knowledge of God thru the Power of the Holy Spirit 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

@Linda Adama-Garcia My prayers are for you. I’m a 18 year old graduate whose parents are going through a rough patch. My twin brother and my dad are not on speaking terms and he just moved out after our grad party. I had seen the the family split coming for the last 2 years, but have been unable to do anything due to their pridefulness toward each other. The most important lesson God had taught me through all of this is to look honestly at my own flaws before I judge others. One part of me wants to condemn my parents for letting things get as bad as it has, but another part of me feels nothing but guilt since I also make so many mistakes. I have come to love Jesus much more because he has shown me the I am very guilty and that soon he will fix all of the problems that come with living in this broken world. I have lived through a broken home, but God uses all things for his glory. Whatever happens for you I’ll be praying that God’s will be done. God bless!
My story changed hearing this song. I met my husband when we were 15 years old. Love at first site with this man. We married at 17 with our first child in our arms. Ten years later, and my husband moved out leaving me and our four children picking up the pieces. I prayed my heart out begging God to show me how to put the pieces back together. I found this song just when I felt hopeless. My faith in God was restored and I felt Him speak to me to just wait and hold on to my faith. My husband showed up at my doorstep tonight and we welcomed him home, with open arms. We are still healing, but we are broken together.

Dear Tracie, I don't know what exactly is going on in your marriage but I know this - you're not alone. God is with you, both of you. The devil's goal is to divide. Pray for your spouse and tell him you love him and that you don't want to loose him. Pray that God will do what He knows must be done in order to save your marriage, and be silent so you can hear Him because when confusion and overwhelment and anger fill your mind and heart, they drown out God's voice. Pray for guidance and wisdom and direction. Ask Papa to give you what you need to do your part in saving your marriage and no matter how hard life gets, remember that you're not alone. Thank you everyone. I'm back with my husband today but our marriage is still beyond broken. But I know God can restore if it is His will. That is something I still doubt though. See, my husband struggles with mental illness...perhaps even demonic oppression and possibly possession...though the narcissist will never admit anything less than possessed with the Holy Ghost. I have been through so many levels of hell with him and for him over the last 8 years and I forgave him for things people who love me saw me as foolish for. Prayer is the only thing that works in this relationship so I can not even describe how blessed I am that you all are still praying for us...for him. I appreciate it so much! I have no emotional energy left to fight his "demons" anymore. I'm at God's mercy for this relationship. Thank you so much
Even if God's timing is after your spouse passes on. Both of us have come to truly appreciate each other - after he kicked the bucket! 😘. We communicate now like there is no tomorrow. Better than we did before. We simply encourage each other in spiritual thought and feeling and I get messages and signs. We have this whole other dialogue and both of us have repented of past hurts and seen the light. I am writing a book about our relationship now that he has passed on to abide in a spiritual world and myself in a physical world.
Yes, for my marriage with my husband as well. He changed into another person over the past few years...someone I have never known at all. I have been completely broken open. Due to my actions caused by untreated alcoholism and addiction my wife has filed for divorce, our first court date is in 2 days. I absolutely adore and love my wife and the 2 beautiful little ones we brought into this world. I initially wrote a long story, but it comes down to this. Turn the person over to God. He will straighten them out in HIS time, not yours. My wife did so with me and after 12 years, I accepted Christ November 6, 2012 and just this past Sunday, I was finally baptized. When Mark Hall started talking about this song before they played in Jacksonville Arena last month, we looked at each other and knew what it was all about. He started singing and I pulled her into my arms and held her tight. It was a rough, broken road over the past two years transitioning from the military, PTSD, depression and alcoholism. With God in my heart and my partner on my side, they all have been defeated. February 2 will be my one year anniversary of sobriety. We were Broken Together and will remain so until the Lord says we are no longer needed here. Thank you, Casting Crowns for this song. It has become "our" song that we slow dance to in each other's arms or hold hands in the car while driving somewhere. It is those moments that I pray my sons see to overwrite the ones in the past.

I found the have what the call "Hope Restored: A Marriage Intensive Experience" and the testimony videos have so much hope. The reason I know this is...my wife left me 3 months ago and I am fighting as hard as I can to be a man after God's heart and I am fighting for her as well...she is my world, after God. Pray for me as well if you don't mind.
My wife and I were completely broken. We had become people that we said we never would. Addiction, Verbal and Physical abuse, infidelity and more, all while our children watched...When we finally hit "Rock Bottom" and humbled ourselves to God and allowed Him in, not to heal our marriage but to heal our brokenness individually is when true change happened for us. See the marriage isn't what was broken it was us. Once we started our walk with God and healed individually is when our marriage healed. The marriage was a by-product of either 2 broken people or 2 healed people. I hope if you find yourself in this position that you will take the steps with God to heal your brokenness so your marriage will be full!
Sometimes broken people (we are all broken) are not meant to be together. It took many times God separated me from my wife and revelation came. She was asking me to come back. I cannot backslide God has me in a much better place. Praise God. Gratitude

Jesus doesn’t need to break us. We are human and there for broken from the very beginning. Therefore it is our duty to seek and and follow Christ! At the end of your time no man or woman will let you walk through the gates of Heaven. The only ticket you get is from Jesus Christ himself. He died for all our sins. Seek him, follow him, and worship him. Ask for forgiveness and it shall be given but you have to know he wants you to forgive yourself as well. Just don’t repeat why you asked forgiveness for. It’s a long and tough road but without God it is much much harder. Prayers man hoping maybe all is not lost🙏

I somehow feel "safe" sharing with all of you....knowing that some will read this and understand is comforting to me. I was divorced in 2012 after 25-years of a turbulent, painful marriage, two step-kids, two biological sons and a couple of dogs. During our life together we both lost all four of our parents in that time span, moved a lot, cried, laughed and hurt one another terribly. In 2015 he sent me this video in an email and tried to reunite with me. I was too hurt and traumatized by the divorce and the fact that he had re-married and divorced shortly after our break-up so I just couldn't do it.... I needed time to heal... time to find myself. To make a long story short... we went to one counseling appointment and then went our separate ways. I wonder what life would have been like if I would have said yes.... if I would have really heard the words to this song that he sent me. Now after all these years I still feel sad after seeing and hearing this video. I have not re-married.... he has... and my heart truly wishes the very best for him. All I can do at this point is pray for the future.... I do not know why I am sharing this... perhaps to help someone else that is struggling. With that said... I wish you all the very best in what life has for you.... please be kind to yourself... really think things through and know that nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes... forgive one another as God has forgiven you. We really all do have different experiences while here on earth, not all of us get the benefits of true love, abiding love, committed love with another human being or even from a family.....broken people we really are. What makes the difference is forgiveness, forgiveness given, or received, and even that isn't always granted. I keep believing though, that in our next life this brokenness will be no more. If God's will, you both will find each other. I just wish I have the slightest chance to be with my wife again. We were married since 2007. There were rough paths but we both took it with God in the center of life, and since then we were just a happy couple gifted by two beautiful daughters that any couple can envy of. Then Covid took her last 2021, and left me alone with my kids. I cannot understand, and till now, I am crying inside so hard asking why can't we both see our daughters grow together. I do not know, my life is stuck right now. I guess the only broken here is me.
I'm glad I've no regrets for my NO. I ran into my childhood friends alternative lyfstyles family. So very very very good to have fled. The LIES of lesbian daughter & gay son & partner that left our country. My teaching life of getting students to be creative like our creator had been fulfeeling. I'm in a different season in taking care of my mom keeping her in assisted living. I'm moving into a barn home & have my own land. Back in 2015 I was listening to this song often. 7 years past an unwanted divorce, there was still some pain. I'm in California for work, managing a team of people I've never met. A very sad looking tech, maybe age 45 started a conversation. He brought his wife to this event/hotel, hoping to save a troubled marriage. She evidently wanted out. He confided in me - a stranger from another state, about his marriage failing. God works in such amazing ways. I asked him if he would do a favor for me - would he take my phone and listen to this song? He sat down, listened to the song twice - and thanked me asking for the artist and title. I left that job just weeks after California. Had God put me in that job, to be in that state, that hotel, on that very day - to be able to reach out with God's message to that hurting man? I think so.
Most people seek marriage to find happiness or to feel complete. That is far from the truth, happiness isn't a result of marriage it is a bi product. Marriage is about two broken people coming together and living for God. This song is spot on. (:

Singing about them in a song doesn't mean we are celebrating them. It is bringing awareness to the issues in a very powerful way. It lets people who have been through awful things that they are not alone and they are not the only ones dealing with horrible things. It can and has brought about change. Using one's gift to make an important change in the world is a good thing.
This is such a great song. So, so true. My wife divorced me a few years ago and I still miss her. I told her that we were both broken and imperfect and that there isn't anything wrong with that. That that's just how people are and we need to love each other anyway. Sadly, she didn't want to hear it. What we had wasn't perfect but we certainly had more good than bad. Obviously she felt differently. Maybe one day God will change her heart and she'll come home. That's my prayer. Even if I'm 85 years old and sitting on the porch in a rocking chair. There will be an empty chair right beside me waiting for my bride. She's my one wife for life.

Nearly 5 years ago, my wife for just shy of 40 years decided she didn't love me anymore and filed for divorce. The following Valentine's Day I recorded a voice over of this song on a CD and sent it to her hoping that the lyrics from my heart would touch her heart and maybe get her to think about reconciling. Now almost 5 years have past, and the pain in my heart still exists. We are currently in the divorce process right now. I heard this song for the first on K-Love while my daughter and I were driving to make a donation. i immediately sent a link to my wife. God has given me a new form of loving my wife. I recently baptized again, this time whole heartedly and he has been working in me through this struggle immensely. This song speaks to my heart. My husband and I met when we were 18, married and with a baby by 20. We have been through so many ups and downs bc of my struggle with addiction. But by the grace of God he held onto me and hope. And with God's help I persevered through my addiction, and we persevered as a couple. We are 33 today with 3 beautiful children and ever strengthening love for one another. For anyone struggling with anything...FIGHT AND PRAY.. Next Tuesday February 14th - Valentine's Day it will be one year since I sent my wife of 39+ years a voice-over of this song. She had filed for divorce previously at the end of November and sent the CD to her in the hope that she would hear the message. It's been a full year now and I don't know if she ever listen to the song or not. Despite the fact that the divorce was final back in July 2016 I continue to pray daily for God's intervention. Yesterday I came to the conclusion that I wanted to end my current relationship. Everything in my right mind told me there was no good reason to stay. That love alone wasn't enough. I was tired and wanted to end it, but I didn't. I sought after the Lord and prayed for wisdom and discernment to make the right decision. This verse gave me a reason to keep fighting. This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. John 15:12 Christ never gave up on us no matter how long we were separated from him before we chose him. There is no doubt that my husband and I love each other very much, but something is terribly broken in both of us...or just him...I don't know what it is. For all five years he has threatened to leave every time we have a disagreement or "argument." He says "we just can't get along." I keep saying that "divorce is not an option, there shouldn't be a back door..." We've tried counseling...sort of, three times now. The arguments are constant now...so he said he is leaving. We just purchased our first house in January this year. We both have prayed, I have fasted and prayed, even yelled at God. I am done. Whatever happens it is all up to God and my husband. I can't make him do anything. God is in control. Only God can fix a heart, or a marriage like ours. My wife and I got married quite young. I was 20, she was 19. It was a fairy tail in first year, then the next 10 was very rough. During that time we both contemplated divorce constantly but we held it together. She battled bi polar and I had issues of my own. We just celebrated 35 years of marriage 2 months ago and we give all glory to Jesus. We prayed a lot and desperately asked God to keep us together. This is the happiest we have been.

In Jesus Name Amen. Thank you so very much for that prayer. My husband and I have been married for 20 years. I listen to this song over and over again. I tried to get him to listen to it and he never would. For the last 7 years he drank. I left him two and half years ago because of the abuse. I found out he was very sick I came back and took him to the hospital. They transported him to a bigger hospital. We found out he had cirrosis of the liver and they told him he had 6 months to live. He has surpassed 6 months and is at 15 months. He is now getting worse. All I can do is pray for him everyday all day. He still has a lot of anger and now rage. So this pray means a lot to me and I wanted to say thank you.

We've been married for 39 years. I left him several times. Once you realize that EVERYONE is broken going into marriage, it's easier to get through the hard times. It took me 29 years to figure that out. Forget having a perfect marriage. It hasn't existed since The Garden. If you both love the Lord, you can hammer through it. The work is worth it.
God saved my marriage and my family. i couldn't imagine saying this but as much as the betrayal hurt to the point that i wanted to give up and die. im glad it happened because it brought God into our lives we learned forgiveness we learned what love truly is. it took a lot of work and some really hard times to overcome. God helped us through it. sometimes when your completely lost and broken till you feel you have nothing left to lose that is when you have nothing left to do but hit the ground on your knees and ask for Gods forgiveness when you offer everything you are to Him cause you have nothing else left. My husband shared this song with me last night. Met him when I was 15. The moment I looked into his eyes I knew I would never be the same. We have had so many highs and so many lows. Ultimately, the lows took over. I love hearing everyone’s success stories. But the pain is excruciating and I just wish this part didn’t have to happen. I scream for him to be saved and to wake up. I pray every day and night for him even when he has hurt me to the core. I react in ways I’m so shameful of. Beautiful, but sad song. The lyrics have hit me hard as I have gone through difficult times. My wife left me almost a year ago, but I still pray for reconciliation. I never wanted it to happen. I have an older daughter who barely acknowledges me, and another adopted daughter who is now 18, but has turned her back to me. I think if we would all be willing to allow ourselves to be broken together, then we could deal with our hurts.

And you spend most of your precious time doubting you are ACTUALLY hearing from them and paying thru the nose for Psychic medium sessions that are questionable at best.

He has been sinning and has always found it hard to humble himself and repent. I am starting to see God's hand in this. One of the very few life songs I have. This song was there for me when during our 15th year, our marriage was nearly shattered by infidelity and I was about ready to fold my tent. The Lord spoke to me through this song and it gave me strength to try again. By God's grace we are healing but it is a long tedious process, without Him it would have been impossible. As a musician and worshiper i always hear the music first, been like that since i can remember, thats the way i'm created, certain musical chord progressions move me, than i listen (or hear) to the words. So i heard this song for the first time today on the radio on K-Love, but was listening to the music progression, i was moving, got the name of the song, came hear; Same thing first listened to the music, then replayed to listen to the words and actually watch the video and right at the beginning when i saw the old man sitting at the table i said to myself 'Oh don't do this to me', i knew that there was a deep emotional message about to be presented and unveiled. WOW, so deep and moving. The song alone has the ability to heal thousands of broken relationship. So powerful, the decision of the present changed the future. When two people are living in the "Word" together, that's how they will become one together in Christ. The reason marriages are failing "in the church today", the two are not living together daily in the Word of God.
They don't have to say they're sorry, they don't have to say it first, they don't have to take the step, you can't say their sins are worse. Your life doesn't have to fulfill its dreams, their life doesn't have to fit your scheme. Your heart's just have to reunite and never ever give up the fight. I'll confess that when I started to write this it will is with humility and caution, I did not at all intend to write some kind of poem. What I wanted to do is be a Voice of Truth in a world full of lies and tell you guys that it's not the way the world says it is, it's a commitment that was made by both of you before God. It doesn't have to be perfect, it doesn't have to be happy all the time, you don't have to be right, they don't have to be wrong. You just have to accept that you are both broken and sinful and in need of Jesus Christ. And you need to rest in the power of the love of God to forgive the things that the world says cannot be forgiven, to accept that you may have been wrong but that you were forgiven for greater wrongs than you will ever experience yourself. The world's message today is if it hurts too much just try something else. They make it as disposable as a hobby. Look up the movie Fireproof, take the love dare. It saved my marriage. It wasn't easy and it wasn't fun and it humbled me like crazy but it also taught me a lot about loving my wife genuinely and not only if she's doing the things I want her to at the time. You, yes you, be the first one to take the first step. Be the first one to take the Second Step. Take as many steps as possible until you're reunited or they walk away and never come back. Don't wait for them to say they're sorry, don't wait for them to be the one who wants to try to make it work. If both people think that then there can never be resolution. Pray earnestly and seek God more than you ever have with your whole heart and not just for a convenience. Ask him to show you how to love and also specifically how to love that person. Apologize for something that they thought was wrong even if you didn't think it was. I think the single greatest cause of broken marriages and divorce is not any of the things that other people have typically said but it is rather an unwillingness to bend our pride. We all make mistakes and we always will but God didn't tell us that our lives we're going to be easy or perfect or always happy, and you will find a lasting wonderful powerful meaningful relationship with that person if you truly invest in them and they are eventually willing to truly invest in you. As a final note there are situations where it is dangerous abuse and very unhealthy. Please seek help for those situations and don't put yourself in an incredibly dangerous place. God bless you all and pray for me to continue to be able to apply these things in my life years and years down the road and never allow my pride to make me forget the message that God gave me.

I promised God I would share my testimony and not leave out a shameful detail. I cheated on the love of my life out of selfishness God used it in an incredible way. I abandoned my life of drugs alcohol and decietfulness. Prayed for healing of the man God gifted to me. I hurt his son. I couldn't fix the relationship on my own God had to heal his heart I couldn't I prayed and gave my life fully to God. He honored this. I'm ashamed of my sin but what the devil intended for evil God used so that someone could see how God can change a person that didn't have any love in their heart. I'm truly full of love now and that only happened when I surrendered myself to him. We are currently mending our relationship. All thanks to God. Praise be to God all glory is His.

I see so many beautiful hearts in these comments, many of which have beautiful testimonies of God reconciling thier marriages.. I wanted to share a little of my story as it is different from what I see in the comments and very different from what I was pleading with God for. I was married, 4 beautiful children. 7 years together, some very hard times throughout the years.. I gave all that i possibly could to the marriage, it felt as though I was ripping parts if myself to put into the marriage.. one night, she said I want a divorce. Just like that it was done, she refused to come home. I became a single father of 4, not the life I had planned. I was absolutely crushed, the worst pain I had ever experienced in my life. I begged God to take my life, I just couldn't bare the pain, fear, anxiety and crushing sadness. I begged God to bring her back, a changed woman, and to rebuild our marriage. This song held me through some dark times, gave me hope, and bought out deep wells of pain and tears.. 4 years later, my children are happy and well, strong and well rounded.. for me, God bought me the perfect woman.. perfect woman for me and my children, now I am happily married.. something I never, ever imagined could or would happen.. God is so faithful, if you hold onto him, absolutely cling to him, he will move in ways your mind will not be able to comprehend.. let go, let go of what you are hoping for, what you are wanting, and completely let it go to God. Trust him no matter the outcome, and he will surely move in your life. It just might not be what you think you want or need.. but I assure you, if you trust in him and are obedient, it will be the greatest thing!

I couldn't have worded that any better! God became my Father when I was abandoned in an orphanage when I was 10. A week or 2 later my mom came and got me! I had seen my Father's love, grace, mercy, power. With my marriage I felt like I had been forsaken. We separated. I told my husband it would take God Himself telling me to stay, because I was done. To my astonishment that's exactly what He did! He wrote it in black and white and put it in front of me. ...1 Corinthians 7:10-17. Although Not the answer I wanted, He showed His Love, power and mercy. He gave me what I needed not what I wanted at the time. It took time before we reunited, and we have to answer for the hurt it caused our children, and almost 3 years later we are still healing. This song I cried myself to sleep during our separation. Now when I hear it, God reminds me of where we've been, where we are at, and where we're heading! We both were broken from scars of our childhoods, but what was tearing us apart God used to reveal part of what unites us. He works in very mysterious ways, and I still lean on Jeremiah 11:29! I look forward to seeing all of my brothers and sisters in Christ at the Family Feast with our Father and Jesus!!❤❤❤

I have committed this year of 2024 to taking time off for myself and to rediscover God and His plans for me
I have participated on a missions trip thru my church
I also have helped at a local Bible camp at work week to get it ready for the season
Where I went on the first missions trip .......
We are in the early planning stages of going back this winter for possibly a longer time frame
Learning to be single again and growing in the grace and knowledge of God thru the Power of the Holy Spirit

@Linda Adama-Garcia My prayers are for you. I’m a 18 year old graduate whose parents are going through a rough patch. My twin brother and my dad are not on speaking terms and he just moved out after our grad party. I had seen the the family split coming for the last 2 years, but have been unable to do anything due to their pridefulness toward each other. The most important lesson God had taught me through all of this is to look honestly at my own flaws before I judge others. One part of me wants to condemn my parents for letting things get as bad as it has, but another part of me feels nothing but guilt since I also make so many mistakes. I have come to love Jesus much more because he has shown me the I am very guilty and that soon he will fix all of the problems that come with living in this broken world. I have lived through a broken home, but God uses all things for his glory. Whatever happens for you I’ll be praying that God’s will be done. God bless!

My story changed hearing this song. I met my husband when we were 15 years old. Love at first site with this man. We married at 17 with our first child in our arms. Ten years later, and my husband moved out leaving me and our four children picking up the pieces. I prayed my heart out begging God to show me how to put the pieces back together. I found this song just when I felt hopeless. My faith in God was restored and I felt Him speak to me to just wait and hold on to my faith. My husband showed up at my doorstep tonight and we welcomed him home, with open arms. We are still healing, but we are broken together.

Dear Tracie, I don't know what exactly is going on in your marriage but I know this - you're not alone. God is with you, both of you. The devil's goal is to divide. Pray for your spouse and tell him you love him and that you don't want to loose him. Pray that God will do what He knows must be done in order to save your marriage, and be silent so you can hear Him because when confusion and overwhelment and anger fill your mind and heart, they drown out God's voice. Pray for guidance and wisdom and direction. Ask Papa to give you what you need to do your part in saving your marriage and no matter how hard life gets, remember that you're not alone. Thank you everyone. I'm back with my husband today but our marriage is still beyond broken. But I know God can restore if it is His will. That is something I still doubt though. See, my husband struggles with mental illness...perhaps even demonic oppression and possibly possession...though the narcissist will never admit anything less than possessed with the Holy Ghost. I have been through so many levels of hell with him and for him over the last 8 years and I forgave him for things people who love me saw me as foolish for. Prayer is the only thing that works in this relationship so I can not even describe how blessed I am that you all are still praying for us...for him. I appreciate it so much! I have no emotional energy left to fight his "demons" anymore. I'm at God's mercy for this relationship. Thank you so much

😘. We communicate now like there is no tomorrow. Better than we did before. We simply encourage each other in spiritual thought and feeling and I get messages and signs. We have this whole other dialogue and both of us have repented of past hurts and seen the light. I initially wrote a long story, but it comes down to this. Turn the person over to God. He will straighten them out in HIS time, not yours. My wife did so with me and after 12 years, I accepted Christ November 6, 2012 and just this past Sunday, I was finally baptized. When Mark Hall started talking about this song before they played in Jacksonville Arena last month, we looked at each other and knew what it was all about. He started singing and I pulled her into my arms and held her tight. It was a rough, broken road over the past two years transitioning from the military, PTSD, depression and alcoholism. With God in my heart and my partner on my side, they all have been defeated. February 2 will be my one year anniversary of sobriety. We were Broken Together and will remain so until the Lord says we are no longer needed here. Thank you, Casting Crowns for this song. It has become "our" song that we slow dance to in each other's arms or hold hands in the car while driving somewhere. It is those moments that I pray my sons see to overwrite the ones in the past.

IF you haven't been to the Focus on the Family website, I would recommend it. I found the have what the call "Hope Restored: A Marriage Intensive Experience" and the testimony videos have so much hope. The reason I know this is...my wife left me 3 months ago and I am fighting as hard as I can to be a man after God's heart and I am fighting for her as well...she is my world, after God. Pray for me as well if you don't mind.

My wife and I were completely broken. We had become people that we said we never would. Addiction, Verbal and Physical abuse, infidelity and more, all while our children watched...When we finally hit "Rock Bottom" and humbled ourselves to God and allowed Him in, not to heal our marriage but to heal our brokenness individually is when true change happened for us. See the marriage isn't what was broken it was us. Once we started our walk with God and healed individually is when our marriage healed. The marriage was a by-product of either 2 broken people or 2 healed people. I hope if you find yourself in this position that you will take the steps with God to heal your brokenness so your marriage will be full!
Sometimes broken people (we are all broken) are not meant to be together. It took many times God separated me from my wife and revelation came. She was asking me to come back. I cannot backslide God has me in a much better place. Praise God. Gratitude

Jesus doesn’t need to break us. We are human and there for broken from the very beginning. Therefore it is our duty to seek and and follow Christ! At the end of your time no man or woman will let you walk through the gates of Heaven. The only ticket you get is from Jesus Christ himself. He died for all our sins. Seek him, follow him, and worship him. Ask for forgiveness and it shall be given but you have to know he wants you to forgive yourself as well. Just don’t repeat why you asked forgiveness for. It’s a long and tough road but without God it is much much harder. Prayers man hoping maybe all is not lost🙏

I somehow feel "safe" sharing with all of you....knowing that some will read this and understand is comforting to me. I was divorced in 2012 after 25-years of a turbulent, painful marriage, two step-kids, two biological sons and a couple of dogs. During our life together we both lost all four of our parents in that time span, moved a lot, cried, laughed and hurt one another terribly. In 2015 he sent me this video in an email and tried to reunite with me. I was too hurt and traumatized by the divorce and the fact that he had re-married and divorced shortly after our break-up so I just couldn't do it.... I needed time to heal... time to find myself. To make a long story short... we went to one counseling appointment and then went our separate ways. I wonder what life would have been like if I would have said yes.... if I would have really heard the words to this song that he sent me. Now after all these years I still feel sad after seeing and hearing this video. I have not re-married.... he has... and my heart truly wishes the very best for him. All I can do at this point is pray for the future.... I do not know why I am sharing this... perhaps to help someone else that is struggling. With that said... I wish you all the very best in what life has for you.... please be kind to yourself... really think things through and know that nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes... forgive one another as God has forgiven you. We really all do have different experiences while here on earth, not all of us get the benefits of true love, abiding love, committed love with another human being or even from a family.....broken people we really are. What makes the difference is forgiveness, forgiveness given, or received, and even that isn't always granted. I keep believing though, that in our next life this brokenness will be no more. If God's will, you both will find each other. I just wish I have the slightest chance to be with my wife again. We were married since 2007. There were rough paths but we both took it with God in the center of life, and since then we were just a happy couple gifted by two beautiful daughters that any couple can envy of. Then Covid took her last 2021, and left me alone with my kids. I cannot understand, and till now, I am crying inside so hard asking why can't we both see our daughters grow together. I do not know, my life is stuck right now. I guess the only broken here is me.
I'm glad I've no regrets for my NO. I ran into my childhood friends alternative lyfstyles family. So very very very good to have fled. The LIES of lesbian daughter & gay son & partner that left our country. My teaching life of getting students to be creative like our creator had been fulfeeling. I'm in a different season in taking care of my mom keeping her in assisted living. I'm moving into a barn home & have my own land. But this video reminded me of the creaming matches of the childhood past. All Jesus does inside hearts to preserve people through for victorious life. Back in 2015 I was listening to this song often. 7 years past an unwanted divorce, there was still some pain. I'm in California for work, managing a team of people I've never met. A very sad looking tech, maybe age 45 started a conversation. He brought his wife to this event/hotel, hoping to save a troubled marriage. She evidently wanted out. He confided in me - a stranger from another state, about his marriage failing. God works in such amazing ways. I asked him if he would do a favor for me - would he take my phone and listen to this song? He sat down, listened to the song twice - and thanked me asking for the artist and title. I left that job just weeks after California. Had God put me in that job, to be in that state, that hotel, on that very day - to be able to reach out with God's message to that hurting man? I think so.
Most people seek marriage to find happiness or to feel complete. That is far from the truth, happiness isn't a result of marriage it is a bi product. Marriage is about two broken people coming together and living for God. This song is spot on. (:

Singing about them in a song doesn't mean we are celebrating them. It is bringing awareness to the issues in a very powerful way. It lets people who have been through awful things that they are not alone and they are not the only ones dealing with horrible things. It can and has brought about change. Using one's gift to make an important change in the world is a good thing.
This is such a great song. So, so true. My wife divorced me a few years ago and I still miss her. I told her that we were both broken and imperfect and that there isn't anything wrong with that. That that's just how people are and we need to love each other anyway. Sadly, she didn't want to hear it. What we had wasn't perfect but we certainly had more good than bad. Obviously she felt differently. Maybe one day God will change her heart and she'll come home. That's my prayer. Even if I'm 85 years old and sitting on the porch in a rocking chair. Nearly 5 years ago, my wife for just shy of 40 years decided she didn't love me anymore and filed for divorce.
The following Valentine's Day I recorded a voice over of this song on a CD and sent it to her hoping that the lyrics from my heart would touch her heart and maybe get her to think about reconciling.

Next Tuesday February 14th - Valentine's Day it will be one year since I sent my wife of 39+ years a voice-over of this song.
She had filed for divorce previously at the end of November and sent the CD to her in the hope that she would hear the message.
It's been a full year now and I don't know if she ever listen to the song or not.
Despite the fact that the divorce was final back in July 2016 I continue to pray daily for God's intervention.

There is no doubt that my husband and I love each other very much, but something is terribly broken in both of us...or just him...I don't know what it is. I keep saying that "divorce is not an option, there shouldn't be a back door..." We've tried counseling...sort of, three times now. The arguments are constant now...so he said he is leaving. My wife and I got married quite young. I was 20, she was 19. It was a fairy tail in first year, then the next 10 was very rough. During that time we both contemplated divorce constantly but we held it together. She battled bi polar and I had issues of my own. We just celebrated 35 years of marriage 2 months ago and we give all glory to Jesus. We prayed a lot and desperately asked God to keep us together. This is the happiest we have been.

In Jesus Name Amen. Thank you so very much for that prayer. My husband and I have been married for 20 years. I listen to this song over and over again. I tried to get him to listen to it and he never would. For the last 7 years he drank. I left him two and half years ago because of the abuse. I found out he was very sick I came back and took him to the hospital. They transported him to a bigger hospital. We found out he had cirrosis of the liver and they told him he had 6 months to live. He has surpassed 6 months and is at 15 months. He is now getting worse. All I can do is pray for him everyday all day. He still has a lot of anger and now rage. So this pray means a lot to me and I wanted to say thank you.

We've been married for 39 years. I left him several times. Once you realize that EVERYONE is broken going into marriage, it's easier to get through the hard times. It took me 29 years to figure that out. Forget having a perfect marriage. It hasn't existed since The Garden. If you both love the Lord, you can hammer through it. The work is worth it.

God saved my marriage and my family. i couldn't imagine saying this but as much as the betrayal hurt to the point that i wanted to give up and die. im glad it happened because it brought God into our lives we learned forgiveness we learned what love truly is. it took a lot of work and some really hard times to overcome. My husband shared this song with me last night. Met him when I was 15. The moment I looked into his eyes I knew I would never be the same. We have had so many highs and so many lows. Ultimately, the lows took over. I love hearing everyone’s success stories. But the pain is excruciating and I just wish this part didn’t have to happen. I scream for him to be saved and to wake up. I pray every day and night for him even when he has hurt me to the core. I react in ways I’m so shameful of. We have lost parents, a child, miscarriages, but ultimately what has broken us was his infidelity and the abuse from that. I wish he could be consistent but I have to realize hurt people, hurt people. Pray for us. Our beautiful daughters are hurting from this. God give us a strength … I love this man so much 😔

Beautiful, but sad song. The lyrics have hit me hard as I have gone through difficult times. My wife left me almost a year ago, but I still pray for reconciliation. I never wanted it to happen. I have an older daughter who barely acknowledges me, and another adopted daughter who is now 18, but has turned her back to me. I think if we would all be willing to allow ourselves to be broken together, then we could deal with our hurts.

Please open your KJV bible and read those 4 verses and pray that GOD will reveal the truth behind who Jesus is, him dying for your sin, him being buried in the grave for 3 days and raising himself from death, conquering death for your soul, so you would never have to experience eternal separation from HIS presence. Tomorrow is not guaranteed for anyone, so please don't put a decision like this off.
Even if just one person here will say a prayer for my fiancé and I it would mean the world. My husband (Jamie) of 15 years left the family home and is with a female from his work (Dee).
He has been sinning and has always found it hard to humble himself and repent.
I am starting to see God's hand in this. He went to the other woman's house last night only for an hour and then home (he usually stays over).
I think he is battling and knows what the right things is to do but can't bring himself to do it. The enemy has taken enough from my family!

@binnet6774 it's gotten worse, to be honest. I am actually having a tough time with him at the moment. He has become so nasty, and he has done something that I never thought he would do, which would hurt my children. He is lost.

One of the very few life songs I have. This song was there for me when during our 15th year, our marriage was nearly shattered by infidelity and I was about ready to fold my tent. The Lord spoke to me through this song and it gave me strength to try again.
By God's grace we are healing but it is a long tedious process, without Him it would have been impossible. Now we are on our 20th and going strong....

As a musician and worshiper i always hear the music first, been like that since i can remember, thats the way i'm created, certain musical chord progressions move me, than i listen (or hear) to the words. So i heard this song for the first time today on the radio on K-Love, but was listening to the music progression, i was moving, got the name of the song, came hear; Same thing first listened to the music, then replayed to listen to the words and actually watch the video and right at the beginning when i saw the old man sitting at the table i said to myself 'Oh don't do this to me', i knew that there was a deep emotional message about to be presented and unveiled. WOW, so deep and moving. The song alone has the ability to heal thousands of broken relationship. So powerful, the decision of the present changed the future. Also not often can a song have the right music to support its message, and or the right words to support the music; This one has it. Blessings.

When two people are living in the "Word" together, that's how they will become one together in Christ. The reason marriages are failing "in the church today", the two are not living together daily in the Word of God.
They don't have to say they're sorry, they don't have to say it first, they don't have to take the step, you can't say their sins are worse.
Your life doesn't have to fulfill its dreams, their life doesn't have to fit your scheme. Your heart's just have to reunite and never ever give up the fight.
I'll confess that when I started to write this it will is with humility and caution, I did not at all intend to write some kind of poem. What I wanted to do is be a Voice of Truth in a world full of lies and tell you guys that it's not the way the world says it is, it's a commitment that was made by both of you before God. It doesn't have to be perfect, it doesn't have to be happy all the time, you don't have to be right, they don't have to be wrong. You just have to accept that you are both broken and sinful and in need of Jesus Christ. And you need to rest in the power of the love of God to forgive the things that the world says cannot be forgiven, to accept that you may have been wrong but that you were forgiven for greater wrongs than you will ever experience yourself. The world's message today is if it hurts too much just try something else. They make it as disposable as a hobby. Look up the movie Fireproof, take the love dare. It saved my marriage. It wasn't easy and it wasn't fun and it humbled me like crazy but it also taught me a lot about loving my wife genuinely and not only if she's doing the things I want her to at the time. You, yes you, be the first one to take the first step. Be the first one to take the Second Step. Take as many steps as possible until you're reunited or they walk away and never come back. Don't wait for them to say they're sorry, don't wait for them to be the one who wants to try to make it work. If both people think that then there can never be resolution. Pray earnestly and seek God more than you ever have with your whole heart and not just for a convenience. Ask him to show you how to love and also specifically how to love that person. Apologize for something that they thought was wrong even if you didn't think it was. I think the single greatest cause of broken marriages and divorce is not any of the things that other people have typically said but it is rather an unwillingness to bend our pride. We all make mistakes and we always will but God didn't tell us that our lives we're going to be easy or perfect or always happy, and you will find a lasting wonderful powerful meaningful relationship with that person if you truly invest in them and they are eventually willing to truly invest in you.
As a final note there are situations where it is dangerous abuse and very unhealthy. Please seek help for those situations and don't put yourself in an incredibly dangerous place. God bless you all and pray for me to continue to be able to apply these things in my life years and years down the road and never allow my pride to make me forget the message that God gave me.
