I realized a few years ago that I'm completely different with my mom and my dad. I'm silly, fun, open, and "never a dull moment" with my mom. I completely lack these traits around my dad, I'm not myself around him. I think it's because my dad has issues with patience and his temperament, he can go from "normal" to "scary asshole" on the slightest provocation. When you're a little kid that leaves a lasting impression on you. My mom never yelled in my face when I fucked up as a little kid, she never made me cry, she never made me feel bad for asking questions, and she never pushed me away. Instinctively, I'm comfortable being myself around her. If you're a father, keep that in mind.

The part when they discuss if your father was mean to you as a child it stays with their child is 100% true. My dad was loving and good provider but he was always angry. I never knew why he was angry and that put allot of fear into my brother and I. Fast forward 25 years and Im a father of 3 wonderful kids! But Im angry and I dont know why.. I changed allot and learnt to be more patient but its true. So all I wanted to say was patience is truly a virtue that will resonate with your children. Children will become angry and spiteful to their peers in school and especially at home to their parents and siblings. A happy home means happy kids.
Are you adjusting? You might think of yourself as a bad father but please promise me one thing: be who you are. As a dad, as a friend, as a professional. It might not be perfect but don't get angry my brother. Be who you are, take your losses and laugh.
I thought I knew what love was, I thought I knew how much I loved my husband. Then we had our two little boys, that's when I really knew what love was. Now I see my husband when he's taking care of them and I love him even more. My boys make me a better person. I count my blessings everyday for my family and the love we share.
Katherine and Dannie, I wanted to say congrats and enjoy the gift of life! My wife just gave birth to our firstborn (son) last month. I’m blown away daily how selfless and dedicated she is to our dude. We were plenty in love before the baby, now I’m head over heels for her amazing motherly instincts. Motherhood is a bond like no other and I’m sure you two are doing amazing. Congrats again!

Makes me cry...being a good dad is my greatest and most recently achieved goal. And continues to be my most hard working goal to this day of my life...
Thank you for being dedicated. You're not just doing it for your little one, but you're restoring hope in others who do not have good parents. Your good parenting makes waves if you think about it.
I'm 22 years old and I love being a mother. Some days I miss my profession and chasing MY dreams. But my daughter's dreams and future is so much bigger than my dreams could ever be
Well if you miss your dreams sometimes maybe you can find some time in the day to take some you time and just work on the things you love and want! I think it's important to care for one self so you can care for others with all your heart. And it makes you a great role model cause youre building something for your children and show them that they can do anything they want in their life. Don't put things off for to long - my mom did that and when I was getting 11+ she could not wait for me to just be independent so she can do her thing... I'd just wish she would have done that earlier cause then it wouldn't be so rapid and weird. And you're a really young mom so all energy and love is on your side, living the dream 😊
Fire Shine yes I plan on returning to the vet tech world when our girls are in school. Until then I’m a stay at home mom and our wedding is planned for next year.
New dad here: I devote my Father’s Day to my wife. After all she went through, still going through (1mo last week), there’s no way I can compare lol. The dedication a woman puts into raising a child is unreal and beautiful.
Both of my daughters were my students in my 4th grade class. Game over! I won the best prize in the world. Spending time with them and teaching is without doubt the best thing a father can do!
Hearing joe talk about watching a film with his daughter is so sweet. My mother was never involved in my life and going to the movies was and still is such a big part of me and my dads time together
I just had my first child on April 25th My gosh what a game changer. My life flashed and that little child become the absolute light of my life. I would do anything for him and my wife.. I can’t wait to see him after work. I love holding him and talking to him. Just being near him is the greatest thing ever.
I am a father of two beautiful, kind and loving daughters, it’s the best thing ever. Me and my 1st daughter (3 years old at the time) used to travel across Bangkok for 2 hour journeys everyday, by bus, then boat, then walk/carry her for 20 mins to the school in the blistering heat/tropical thunderstorms. I was working at an international school and she was a student there. This was such a bonding experience and we are inseparable. I feel truly blessed and feel less scared of death as a result feeling I have fulfilled part of my purpose on this earth However, I of course need to make sure I leave something for them before I’m gone. Having a child is a blessing, some people go to extreme extents just to have one so if you do then please love them all you can as you are really lucky.
As a 40yo mom who had two dads who didn’t give one shit about me I’m eternally grateful for the father my husband is to our daughters. Secondly, I’m in awe of all the wonderful fathers in here. Make no mistake, you’re changing the world!! ❤️

Not worth it. My dad stole money from me and beat the shit out of me and was never home. I confronted him on it and he made it like he was the victim. It's like a rapist blaming the girl who were the mini skirt that caused the rapist to be a rapist. AHoles will be Aholes and they take no personal responsibilities. Haven't seen or talked to my dad in over 20 years. I don't even know if he's alive or dead, and I don't care to know.
Glad you put this interview up on here. It's important for dads to hear that your goal can be to be the best Dad or a Boss of a Dad. These few years that you have with your kids while they're young are far more important than the bump up the career ladder or personal life goal achievements or whatever else is out there to chase. You've got a lifetime to pursue everything else. Try to let go of some of this stuff until they're older. It's a short inconvenience of putting things off compared to regrets for the rest of your life and wishing you could connect with your child.

The most important job that you can have in life is to raise a child to become a good man or woman. Becoming a parent definitely changes you, it changes the way you look at life. Loved this content!
I was in subway the other day with my boyfriend and there was a dad and his daughter. I wished that I had a dad that was present. It touched me in such a weird way, I just witnessed something that a dad and daughter had, that I never had with my dad.
my boyfriend has 3 amazing children. holy shit i’ve never met such gifted, once-and-only in a lifetime kids in my life. the way they move and create in this world is just ASTOUNDING. i can’t wait to see where they go in life. their natural optimism, presentness, and joy is a beautiful example to us all. they bring me back to center when i snap out of my stress spells. the most powerful part about it, is that no matter what we go through, we love each other unconditionally. it makes me tear up writing about this. it’s been such a rocky journey getting to know them & get used to living with 3 small & wild kids in a tiny townhome. but they push me to work harder financially, emotionally, spiritually, and socially. i forgave my parents a while after learning what it’s like to raise 3 kids. they had a hard marriage and therefor a hard time with 3 of us. so yeah. kids are powerful. i wonder often if i want my own someday. but ours are just perfect. i love them so fucking much. phew.
Thankyou guys!! I am going to be a father for the first time!!! in 4 weeks my daughter will be here😁 my lady is huge but were so happy!!!! Thankyou guys👍
I’ve been fortunate to accomplish a few things here and there during my life. At about the age of 30 i realized, and still believe to this day, that about 95% of it didn’t have anything to do with me, just was due to the fact that i had great parents.
As a "kid" 27 years old I think unconditional love goes both ways: kids love parents just as much as parents love their kids. No matter what they do, you will always love them. There are exceptions of course, like psychopathic parents or whatnot. Unconditional love is very real, its a trip.
My daughter is autistic. I don’t get the typical dad experience. It hurts. But she’s my princess and I’m damned proud of the fact I’m involved in her life. Most parents would’ve gave up by now…yea she’s that bad. But I’m never giving up. I just pray she improves.
Lemme just say she’s not as bad as the super low functioning autist. She clearly knows things, she just can’t vocalize. She’s made improvements. But what hurts is the lack of love I get from her. And the tantrums of course. Those won’t probably ever stop.
Honestly, they are speaking so much wisdom rn. Coming from me, someone who married a deadbeat who abandoned us when my son was born - I wish my husband was half of the father these guys are.
As soon as I clicked on this video I was knew people were gonna somehow find a way to relate it to this Conor Mcgregor shit. And you said the one I first thought of haha
I think one thing a lot of people don’t do is try to be down to earth sometimes with their kids. It’s okay to be vulnerable in front of your kids and give them explanations.
I know this was 4 years ago but hearing you guys talk about what it takes to be a father and the characteristics between the good and bad parents really does make me pity my father. There was sooo much and still is so much that he missed out on. I have 2 of my own now, 3 year old and a 5 year old. Watching them learn everyday and seeing them just be happy about everything gives me the greatest feeling I've ever had. Thanks you guys 🥲💙
This happened to me. When my kids started to grow up, i had a life changing mindset. Priorities that once was overwhelming now is an ambition and something done out of love.
My son was just born last week, our first child. I feel like a completey different man...from now on everything I do is for my wife and the little guy! I was a bit depressed for years, sort of stuck in a funk... it's amazing how quikcly that fades when you watch your wife give birth. The most beautiful thing you will ever experience in life.
I’m happy to say I’m child free and will continue that lifestyle but if you’re gonna have kids being the best possible parent is an absolute must. Too many people have kids because of pressure from the family and society. It’s ridiculous the pressure people put on each other to have kids.
Man does this hit home. Had a son. First born child. 3 months now. I would literally give up 3 lifetimes for him. Growing up with an absent dad, growing up a piece of shit that I was. Very bad decisions…. But now being responsible for another human that’s super vulnerable, literally changes your life….

I just figured out we pregnant any tips for these 40 weeks ??
Your daughter is 2 years old now damn hope you and her are doing well
The part when they discuss if your father was mean to you as a child it stays with their child is 100% true.
Incitatus wow. Hit close to home
That has been my experience.
Are you adjusting? You might think of yourself as a bad father but please promise me one thing: be who you are. As a dad, as a friend, as a professional. It might not be perfect but don't get angry my brother. Be who you are, take your losses and laugh.
dennis de vulder he’s being who he is and that’s someone that’s angry sometimes. No harm in that as long as he’s being a good dad

Me too brother. Right there with you. The greatest thing that’s ever happened to me
I'm 22 years old and I love being a mother. Some days I miss my profession and chasing MY dreams. But my daughter's dreams and future is so much bigger than my dreams could ever be
@Solid Water I agree! You can't buy a family, you can only make one. Baby #2 is on the way in August!
How much ??
Brr23 how much do I love our daughters? (Btw we just had baby #2 in august)
Fire Shine yes I plan on returning to the vet tech world when our girls are in school. Until then I’m a stay at home mom and our wedding is planned for next year.

It touched me in such a weird way, I just witnessed something that a dad and daughter had, that I never had with my dad.
my boyfriend has 3 amazing children. holy shit i’ve never met such gifted, once-and-only in a lifetime kids in my life. the way they move and create in this world is just ASTOUNDING. i can’t wait to see where they go in life. their natural optimism, presentness, and joy is a beautiful example to us all. they bring me back to center when i snap out of my stress spells.
the most powerful part about it, is that no matter what we go through, we love each other unconditionally. it makes me tear up writing about this. it’s been such a rocky journey getting to know them & get used to living with 3 small & wild kids in a tiny townhome. but they push me to work harder financially, emotionally, spiritually, and socially.
i forgave my parents a while after learning what it’s like to raise 3 kids. they had a hard marriage and therefor a hard time with 3 of us.
so yeah. kids are powerful. i wonder often if i want my own someday. but ours are just perfect. i love them so fucking much. phew.

Boys lean more toward the mom cause there loving and the girls go to the father cause they give them structure

I would lose my mind if I do that.
I took the year off to be with my baby. Work wasn’t happy. I truly don’t care. Best decision I made.
