  • Do you know that pride can actually hinder you?
    In this “For the Curious” episode, Pastor Tom discusses the issue of pride and how it can actually hinder us from receiving the things of God. Pride is an issue because it makes us boast in our own works and makes us believe that we don’t need God.
    When we are void of humility but full of pride, we are too full to receive anything! But God’s desire is a humble heart so we can be open to receive the things He wants to freely give us.

    Pride may be even more selfish then stealing or killing, which is sometimes not for yourself, but pride is always selfish.

    Pride must be balanced with humility, therefore it should not be celebrated without limit or else it will infect your mind, heart, and actions

      That’s like saying you can have a little sin in your life , just balance it out with righteous living.

      Humility is a bit more specific than “righteous living” in my opinion.

    Daniel 12:10
    Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
    2 Peter Chapter 1
    5And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
    6And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
    7And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

    Pride violates the first commandment, because you dont put God in the first place, but yourself.

    Because it leads to all the other sins,just as worldly riches does The very best of all mankind have all fallen by its corruptive power,not one excluded.And before you say ,what about Jesus,well He did pass the test,but was never rich,He turned it down.

    Is pride in working hard to achieve a good life for your family a bigger sin than genocide carried out through greed or religious difference?

    • @carolynlott4561
      @carolynlott4561 4 месяца назад

      Of course not. The intent is that we need to rely on God for our salvation, not on what we do. If we live as Jesus taught us, a life of love and service to others, we will certainly work hard for our family. God bless you!

    Pride may?
    Sorry but my faith tells me that the bible is better to follow that any set of sins that a Gregorian priest came up with along with other so-called sins that say more about that time in history than anything else. Shame, the opposite of Pride has more ways of being evil than Pride which is the basis of a good foundation for family, God, and Country. Can any parent imagine having a relationship with their children without using pride? Or would they rather use shame instead? Again, sign of the times even as a culture when you reflect long and well about it.

      Pride in this context is meant to mean believing one has all the answers and can "earn" their way to Heaven because of good works. The Bible tells us that there is nothing we can do as God has done it for us through His Son, Jesus Christ. This is different than "being proud" of someone or something. Sorry if the message wasn't as clear as it could have been.

    Don't have the guts to find out yourself !

      To think we have all the answers and need only ourself is our downfall. Lean on God and you will find so much of value outside of serving yourself.
