      I tried the Z fold 3, 4 and 5 returned them all and kept with Apple. However, I did my usual, ordered the Z fold 6 and......I am keeping it. Until you hold it and realise Samsung have nailed the "holdability" It becomes a keeper, there is just something spot on with the ergonomics . If you all ge a chance to hold one, you will understand ;-)

      Yea like m fold 5 got a, spigen case with hinge protection and a place for the spen and a stand, the stand is so useful for a foldable, and dropped it with the spen case and it chipped the hinge, so hinge protection is a must for me.

    Finally someone that has my same mindset about this phone front screen, it’s a single hand phone! 🎉🎉🎉 that’s so not understood! And it’s a two hands phone unfolded! No other phone does it and I miss the days where phones like iPhone 7 where a one hand phone! With this one you also get a tablet

    I think the price is worth it.
    You got phone mini tablet and Dex you got something same as Chromebook or a little better. For pro work you need something better but for casual tasks and emails.
    It’s not the best phone experience (screen width) not best tablet (square design not great for some content) Dex is not a computer replacement for pros. But put it all together it’s a really great piece of technology.

    I'm not a "Samsung" person but I did use the Z(ed) Fold 6 briefly and I did love the hardware. It does, like you said, feel very premium, as it should given the price. The hinge for me was one of the standout features in making it feel premium and expensive. It's smooth and you can really tell it's well made, confident inspiring when opening and closing the device.
    Another thing I found surprising, for me that is, is the inside display UTG feel was a lot closer to regular glass like you'd find on the cover display than in previous Fold versions and that feel was one of my biggest pet peeves with foldable phones in general not to mention the smudges and general plasticy look of UTG on foldables.
    I came away really impressed and if I was into Samsung phones, granted it's a lot of money and some of the Chinese alternatives have it beat in other key areas but here in the US, those alternatives for most are not a smart choice for many reasons even if you were to go to the trouble of importing one so for many of us here it's between the Z Fold, the Pixel Fold(able) and the OnePlus Open.
    Personally I am a Pixel fan and depending on how good the 9 Pro Fold turns out, if the hardware is as premium in the hand as the Z Fold 6, I may overlook the camera deficiencies compared to the 9 Pro XL and get the 9 Pro Fold instead.

    • @solomonhilliard5357
      @solomonhilliard5357 4 месяца назад +2

      Yes, you're one of the few who noticed! The plastic screen was improved tremendously. Samsung, per usual, did not advertise this well, but there is a video on RUclips explaining. Samsung added a new type of plastic that allowes them to remove some layers that were previously necessary.

    • @ArthurZakaryan23
      @ArthurZakaryan23 4 месяца назад

      @@solomonhilliard5357 Yeah I did hear about this additional layer that Samsung added as well on the 6 over the 5 but yeah not sure why Samsung didn't officially make any mention of this. When you do observe the inner display closely though under some light, it still has that UTG characteristic wavy not completely flat glass look but at least feel wise it's a lot better so at least Samsung is making progress here. If someone said the Z Fold 6 was made by Google and running Pixel software instead of OneUI, I would definitely be serious about getting it though, I loved the hardware that much. I am spoiled though with my Pixel 8 Pro's camera hardware though which is one of my biggest holdups for considering a foldable aside from price.

      @ArthurZakaryan23 ruclips.net/video/z8dDN6MkU0Y/видео.htmlsi=i6RgrSsH30aosALe
      This video was their only mention of it AFAIK. The first plastic touch screens, which showed up 20 years ago, could not register a finger press. You had to use a stylus. We've come a long way, and it they can improve plastic screen
      further I think both screens should be plastic, that would save weight which could be shifted to a bigger battery.

    • @ArthurZakaryan23
      @ArthurZakaryan23 4 месяца назад

      @@solomonhilliard5357 You may be talking about resistive screens from the late 90s/early 2000s in PDAs for example which I owned a few of like the Windows CE powered HP iPaq's or Palm Pilots and yeah those screens were no fun but while yes those were indeed plasticy, they didn't have the wavy construction you see in UTG based foldables of today, they were mostly a matte construction that required a very thin/fine stylus to be able to do anything on.

    Agreed that the camera needs 5x optical. I used to use that to identify birds with the 50x digital zoom on my Note 20 Ultra. Having only 30x digital zoom instead of the 50x and 100x zooms available on other phone cameras is just not right for a flagship phone.

    Having been on the fold 3 for the past few years, i was very happy with it overall but the screen was definitely too narrow and cramped for those times when you just need to do something. The lack of zoom was a major miscalculation by Samsung. I think they tried to keep hardware costs down and rely on AI for image correction, but there's just no replacement for glassware in photography. I've owned 4 folds. The Z fold 2, 4, then the OnePlus Open and now the Z Fold 6. The OnePlus Open is probably the best overall. The only reason I bought the Z Fold 6 was for future trade in value. Samsung is king of Android in terms of retaining value for trade in. With that being said, the OnePlus Open screens are bigger, less crease, much bigger battery and 3 times faster charging and the cameras are way better. Also, multitasking on the Open is the best of any foldable. The Z Fold 6 is very well built. I really like the design and the strength of the hinge. I also prefer the camera layout versus the Open. Samsung really needs to be held accountable for not keeping up with other manufacturers in terms of hardware improvement. Not the build, but everything else. OnePlus and other manufacturers have much better cameras, batteries, charging, etc. Samsung barely made any changes at all and increased the price. OnePlus, Vivo, Xiaomi, Honor all have much better specs and they're thinner and most of all CHEAPER.

      Hey Mark. Samsung figured out their strategy from Apple. Make a great product and refine it over several years with minimum updates for the general mass consumer market fans. Iphones dominant the market worldwide overall in spite of no real new innovations. Average people just care enough about the latest specs. Just an great device that works. Samsung adopted that business strategy. They dominate the Android market. I believe Samsung only sees Apple as a worthy competitor. Just a thought. Cheers my friend.

      @@tafb94force29 while I get you POV. I don't think it should apply to Samsung. Apple doesn't have any competitors on iOS. Samsung has many competitors with Android. Even Apple makes changes to cameras/batteries/hardware most years. Samsung hasn't upgraded the battery or main/telephoto lenses in 3 years! Samsungs Folds are only the top seller in terms of folds in the US. The rest of the world buys other foldables because they're ALL better. Outside of Dex, Samsung doesn't offer anything that's best in class... Yet they charge the most. If you're okay with this, that's fine. But many, MANY aren't. I hate when complain about the $2000 price point and the camera not being the best out. 1. You’re getting a phone + a tablet in one, each of those individually is nearing $1000 and up. 2. It’s a phone meant for a certain type of work oriented person that needs the different devices in different situations, the camera is plenty good enough for the average consumer especially when 9/10 times the content you post will be lowered in quality or watch in lower quality so who really cares? I think anybody who likes cool things and enjoys both a phone and a tablet will enjoy this phone no matter what.

    I think that the Fold6 will not sway too many people towards the Galaxy Fold and likely target fans of the device upgrading to the newest version. There is nothing making me say wow compared to the Fold5 this is cool. I have no problem with that-for Samsung Fold lovers and hopefullly just a bit more usable.
    For me, the £1800-2000 price is a joke as I would rather spend that on an iPhone 15PM and an 11-inch M4 iPad Pro. Two devices but a far superior tablet and a better smartphone (camera, display aspect ratio, chip, etc) and together ATM I can get both for under £2000. Here is my take on the new Fold 6.
    **Pros**
    1) Big screen
    2) Lightweight and compact
    3) More luxurious feeling than the Ultra series
    **Cons**
    1) Average battery life
    2) Average camera
    3) Durability is always a question because some Folds last long and some Folds last just 10 to 12 months
    4) Expensive price
    5) Not having a built-in S Pen is debatable, but for the price, I guess the Fold deserves an inbuilt S Pen.
    If you look at the pros and cons list, it is evident that the cons outweigh the pros, but still, there is something about the Fold or folding tech that brings people around.
    My Fold 4 broke down in about 14 months even though I did not drop it once, and then I went to buy the S24 Ultra. But there is always a side of me lurking, again, to buy a Fold, but being expensive, I am a bit hesitant to buy the Fold at present.

    I like it a lot and the refinements area all very nice and draw me towards the phone that much more. Having said that, I've seen too many examples of that internal screen breaking and falling apart after a while and that's not something I will ever want to deal with. I'm also a massive pen user so not having a storage slot for the pen forces my hand towards the S24 Ultra. Add in better cameras and the Fold loses to the S24 Ultra for now.

    • @nickthaskater
      @nickthaskater 4 месяца назад

      Square edges, square corners, newer chip, better low-light ultrawide camera, brighter screens. That's about it, practically speaking.
      If you can get a great deal on a 6, go for it. If you can't, but you can find a well discounted 5, just get the 5. It's wonderful.

    Just like you I went for the Zed FOLD 6 from the S24 ULTRA.. But unlike you I am not an Apple "sheep" or better to say I am completly a Samsung person, from the S1, S2, S5, S7&7edge, S9+, NOTE 9, NOTE 10+, S24 ULTRA and now the Z FOLD 6 I had a lot of Samsung devices.. I think that after such a timeline I have a good perception of the Samsung way of inovation and I can say that this FOLD 6 is a solid milestone and everyone that is lookin to buy a device that will last him for years then this the one to go with..
    P.S.
    Colsed it has the best one handed usability and opened is has such a nice tab format that you have all the daily needs sorted with the FOLD 6..

    Years ago the bike industry was on its knees. Then someone invented the hybrid mountain bike and the rest is history
    Ditto for the car industry until the SUV came along
    Now it’s happening for the smart phone. Will this move last ? Who knows but I’ll stick to my iPhone Pro Max. Plenty big enough for me otherwise I’ll carry my iPad mini with me
    However, for those that love them and can bare the ridiculous cost in their stride then fill your boots. Only time Wii tell but quality review as always

  • @stephencurtis3295

    Mark, really like your style of presentations but I’m getting so confused at your recent changes. Going from the iPhone to 24 Ultra recently was understandable. It’s a great phone. (Some years ago I also moved from the then current iPhone flagship to the Samsung flagship phone but moved back after I couldn't integrate it well enough to my Mac and iPad) However you now say you’re going to change to the Fold 6. Then you say you’re going to keep on carrying the 24 Ultra as well as the camera system on the Fold 6 doesn’t cut it.. So actually you’ve gone from the iPhone to two separate and equally expensive cameras and become a walking electronics store. Doesn’t sound like either are what you’re actually lookiing for. Perhaps if Apple deliver on the foldable phone you will fold back into Apple? Just a thought.
    .

      To be honest. The apple camera just isn’t good enough now. I will say for photo editing the S24 ultra is so much better. In the 50-200 mega pixel modes I can get such great detail to make beautiful photos, or erase backgrounds etc… all I want is apple to work on is better cameras for the real editors.

    I would like to go back to a Fold because I really enjoyed having a Fold 3 and 4, but the cost is prohibitive at the moment, the camera system is kind of funky although if I'm not doing a lot of zooming in it might be fine. I guess I'm now spoiled by the S24U and what it does for me on a regular basis.
    Great video and I'm looking forward to see what the Pixel 9 Pro Fold brings to the table.

    They can win at this game, they can make 2 versions of the fold, very simple :) those who are happy with the current size will buy that and those who want the bigger version will buy the bigger one! However, they need to sort these shit prices out 😄cos a bigger version would be even more ridiculously priced. I just got a Fold 6 for £1060 on Ebay, price on the private market drops so fast for new Samsung releases (and any android phone for that matter), absolutely no chance im paying 1700/1800 quid for a phone 😄

    I switched from the iPhone 13 Pro Max to the z fold 6.Why? On Apple it is the tiny things that make me crazy. They don't want to make the perfect product. They want to make a good product, so you still buy their other Apple products. Why is there no multi user on the iPad? Why is there no Dex on the iPhone? Why does the iPhone pro max does not take the advantage of the big screen and allow for mutli-tasking or even horizontal use of Mail with the folder pane on the left side? Why can you put a sim card into the iPad Mini, but not use it for phone calls? Why is the file transfer on iPad/iPhone to/from external devices still so crappy? Why does Apple threat the EU, NOT to bring AI to Europe? The last one was the final kick to switch back to Android. I don't want to say Android is better, but after 6 years in the Apple ecosystem I have the feeling I need to see something different and see which I like better. Thank you for the video.

    I really wanted to keep the Z folding sixx but the battery just doesn't do the phone justice. I missed the s24 battery life and faster charging.
    If the zed folded sixxx had the 45w charging maybe but that 25w with the smaller battery and the drain I had to return it
