No for now, I am using S24+ because I like the screen ratio, I am not a fan of the screen ratio they had with Fold 5/6 And I would suggest getting rip of the front camera in the inner display

I went back and forth for months trying to decide on staying with Samsung or trying out OnePlus Open. At the end of the day, because of the overall experience, the software, the ecosystem, the customer service, I decided to get the Fold 6. Is it the best in terms of outer screen size? No. Does it have the best cameras? No. Does it have the longest lasting battery? No. Is it the best overall device (in my opinion) and a joy to daily use? Yes! I'm very happy with it.
Best? Please don't lie to yourself. You just admitted it doesn't have the best cameras or best battery...it's not even a leader in performance. You paid almost $2,000 for device that's not a good smartphone or tablet lol
just look after it, get SAMSUNG CARE+. with folds they the hinge is likely to fail at some point, or screen cracks, if you have scratches on the outside or lens cracks then your warranty is void, as it's a replaceable unit, read the fine print. Samsung are notoriously bad when it comes to warranty repair.
I've got the fold 4. Considering the price increase, the 6 should have s pen capability on the front screen, ultra cameras and bigger batteries. Ideally with a built in SPen too 😅
If you're paying full price, you really need to look for discounts. Just paid 699 with trade in. Comes with 512gb. Samsung had a ton of pre order deals. For 699 it's a beast of a phone.

they don't use these phones for practical features, they just try out the new and fun gimmicky features or run some benchmarks and then continue on with their lives, just using insta and youtube or something. I'd say they don't even care about cameras, if it weren't for them basically working as youtubers who compare cameras, I doubt they'd complain about a Galaxy A55. Credit where credit is due Tom is a mostly real one and instead of thinking of his actions as malicious I think he just makes some errors or has some quirks. 95% of reviewers on the net I just can't trust anymore, trying to please the companies with positive reviews. Nope, companies want that, they want you to think the only problems are those minor ones that you don't care about. Not the fact that if you got the Z Fold3 you'd have gotten 95% of the experience.
Going from a 4 to a 6 i can say it is definitely worth it. I can actually type on the front screen as it's bigger, and it slimmed down the bulk so much compared to the 4 that I no longer feel like I'm smuggling a literal brick in my pocket it's way closer to the size of a normal smart phone and I would say with a thin case possibly slimmer than some normal phones with those rugged cases
If you're considering purchasing a Samsung Galaxy Flip or Fold phone, I strongly suggest you think twice. As a loyal Samsung user, I bought a Galaxy Flip 5 less than a year ago, and it already has two pink lines and a black dot on the screen. After a lot of back-and-forth with customer service, they finally asked me to reset the phone yesterday, Friday, August 9, 2024. Today, I went to the Samsung store at Westfield Stratford, where I was informed that I would need to pay £340 to repair it because of a small dent, which apparently voids my two-year warranty. Given my long relationship with Samsung, I can no longer recommend their Flip or Fold phones. I've been a Samsung user since 2013, starting with the Galaxy Note 3. I still own a Galaxy S21 Ultra, Galaxy Note 9, and a Galaxy S24 Plus, along with a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic and Galaxy Buds Live. I had been considering upgrading to the Galaxy Fold 6, but this experience has completely turned me off Samsung. Even though I’ve been satisfied with their products in the past, I now find their two-year warranty untrustworthy. Goodbye, Samsung. I have photos of the damage that voided my warranty.
I was ready to pull the trigger on a pre-order, but it would be over a month before it could be delivered! I'll wait and see if there are problems with it.
For the owner of S24 Ultra 0.8 inch bigger screen don't justify the lack of battery, charging and cameras. Specially when competition proves that it can be done.
@kavinab6629 exactly my opinion, brother! So, there is a premium feeling I've noticed.. and the 5 was great, not 1 problem.. I kinda feel wasteful trading it in.. take it to the PO Monday morning..
I've had mine a week now, it has its flaws for sure. Battery and camera is a kick in the teeth when you compare to s24. However, the trade off of multitasking, gaming, streaming, its not even comparable to anything else. It really does depend on what you want or importantly how you use your phone. My phone is a work device too and with all the note taking and Excel functions its perfect for me.
I just saw in person at Best buy here in Austin. I actually really liked how it felt in hand. Have not considered or held a fold since the 3. I have a Note 20 ultra, ans the fold 6 was smaller, thinner, and little lighter I believe. I get emails from Samsung because I like buying unlocked and direct from manufacturer. Checked on Samsung, got 650.00 trade in on my note 20Ultra, and 20% on a watch 7...killer deal. Ordered direct. Will be in my hands next Tuesday..and have 15days to try it, before I have to send prepaid return of Note. Think was a great option, and best buy store guy said he could not come close to matching. Gonna try it. Thanks for the great video.❤
i had the Fold 5, and it was causing me too much anxiety of breaking it dropping it so i switched to the Ultra24. Much happier with my choice, especially with the camera
The bezel is still much thicker on the outer display than on the S24 lineup. But I guess Samsung purposely did not make it as small so they can shave of another millimeter for fold 7...
@@snowyfall753if they made the bezel any smaller they wouldn't be able to put a front case on it without covering the screen. That's how small the bezel is.
If you use the previous z folds regularly then youll notice the difference 3ml makes. The front screen now feels like a proper handset. With the gap less hinge makes it flatter to hold and not bulky. All these tech guys are proving that they do not use fold phones on a regular basis.
Chinese fold phones are just good on paper but does not have good quality, support, after sales, etc. Just like Chinese branded cars. There is a reason why their products are cheaper.
This is the great thing about having o2 switch up In the UK. Can just sw phones every 3 months. I've used all the folds and there great. The reason I went for the 6 was that cover screen. The slight bit of width makes all the difference
I got this coming from the Fold 5 (because of a big trade in deal) and find it a much more balanced phone. It actually feels like an upgrade. I do like the Chinese folables more hardware wise (specifically cameras and thin profile), but trust Samsung more if something goes wrong. I got Samsung Care included in my trade in, not sure if the Chinese folds offer the same... Furthermore, I have grown to love the smaller front display, because I have access to the inner screen (I am not lying). The front display has grown just enough for me and find it to be perfect. I have, however, noticed that I open my fold a lot less with this phone. I now force myself to keep my phone open because I have this fear that the crease will increase or screen protector come loose if I keep it folded. So when I am at home or office, I keep my phone open. With the Fold 6 I need to force myself because the small screen is now a perfectly usable screen for me and feels akin to an iPhone mini.
Great video, I hope you’ll do a comparison with the honor magic v3. I’ve actually got a question.. it seems you own a tons of z folds, did you ever had any inner screen issue, and if so would that be under warranty? Would you have to spend additional money? I want to buy a foldable phone within the next two months, at the moment I am undecided between this and the v3, any suggestion?
Received my preorder last Friday. It looks and feels fantastic! The refinement is absolutely on point on every angle. The built feels so robust! I upgraded from my current Z Flip 5 and had the best trade in discount deals. Samsung really take good care of their customers!
I done had mines for a week upgraded from z fold 3. Worth the upgrade better cameras, way brighter screen, battery life is way better and 7 yrs of support.
anti reflective screen actually doesn't mean much as soon as you put a protective glass that isn't anti-reflective .. and none of them are less or equally reflective as s24u
It's NOT a 1mm wider screen. It's actually 3mm wider. Still completely unusable for me (tried it in the store and compared with my Fold 4 and the Honor V2 next to it). In the end, I canceled my Fold 6 pre-order and ordered an Honor Magic V3 instead (6.6cm front screen width vs 6cm on the Fold 6). Also the Honor is better in every single hardware spec ex. bigger battery, faster charging, wider screen, thinnest fold ever (9.2mm vs 12.2mm on Fold 6), better cameras, 4000 pwm low eye strain OLEDs, a Pen that works on the outside and inner display, 226 grams vs 239, IR blaster, etc. The software is also getting really good since Magic OS 8, and they keep improving it. I already have most of Samsung's AI gimmicks and barely use any of them. This is coming from someone who has been using the Fold 4 for a year (had to replace the screen but Samsung rejected warranty even though it was due to a well known issue with the brushes, they made me pay $500!! to fix it, after saying it would cost only $330) The Fold 6 is not enough of a jump to warrant the massive price. Goodbye Samsung until you go back to innovating like you used to.
i have one but sending it back as it's just too narrow, the real issue is that this is going to be out of date in a year, Samsung will switch to a wider front screen in the next fold (maybe before with the rumoured fold Ultra) and this profile will looked as a quirky design as the fold market developed. There is a reason that no other companies making folding phones go down this narrow route, they could all make narrow phones, but they don't as they know what the market wants - strange Samsung stuck with this and anyone buying this will have to move to a wider fold at some point anyway as these narrow ones won't exist
I don't think you'll ever buy it then. Your expectations will grow every year as other phones get a new and improved feature. 😢 Sammy can't compete with the govt of China.
Honestly, Imo I think the 200mp sensor is garbage. I have had s23u,s24u,fold 5 and fold 6 as my last 4 phones. The fold 5 and now 6 took better point and shoot photos then either of the ultras. People get so caught up in numbers and social media telling them "this is the best!" I personally will take the 50mp sensor over the 200mp sensor any day. What hurts the folds is no decent telephoto or macro. In a phone this price its inexcusable. As for Chinese phones, I will never buy one after the Huawei incident. You are kidding yourself if you think they were and are the only ones doing it.
Outer screen is almost 2mm wider. Yes, it’s only 6.3 inches versus 6.2 of the previous… But it’s 1.85mm wider. Which is where the inner screen being 2.7mm wider comes into play.
What I would love to know it did Samsung say anything unofficial about the fold ultra? The leaks (limited accuracy) imply a very interesting new phone, probably everything I would like the fold to be except maybe a matte screen option
I have upgraded from fold 4 to 6. Finally, i dont have to blow the dust every time i open the big screen. It is much cleaner now. Also, I can see so much better under the sun now, which i struggle on fold 4 on max brightness. The sound is so much better, even when connected to bluetooth. Unfortunately, as with all samsung phones, they dont support anything higher than standard aptx codecs. NO adaptive aptx nor the HD version. They seem to promote their own sbc codecs. IF you want high-quality wireless sound, you need either samsung Own Codecs or LDAC. How i wish Samsung would include all codecs since we are spending so much money. It is really unfortunate in Australia there are not many choices available other than to go Samsung. Unless if you import them... which can be a hassle if you are unlucky and need warranty service.
@123looneygan i won't say battery life awesome, but definitely improvement over the fold 4. Brightness though is super on 6, and you don't even need to max it. How I wish they would increase the battery to 5000 like the 24 ultra.
I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max right now but I have also used Samsung phones in the past and I really like both iOS and Samsung's version of Android I have been waiting for thee iPhone 16 range but I like the look of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 too what would you recommend in my situation
I sticking with my Fold 5. The 6 is better, but only slightly. I'm guessing the Fold 7 or 8 will be my next upgrade, and in my case the cost is pocket change, but the hassle of migration to a different device has to justify hours of my time.
I will be buying this from my current one plus 6😅. Not a big user of cameras and recording so i really won't miss that powerful camera on s24 ultra. So i decided to go with this instead. This will be my personal phone and its exciting for me to upgrade from one plus to samsung.
I like the squared off edges. Samsungs slide out of the pocket and hands far too easily. I even go as far as to add adhesive grips to keep it from doing so.
If you're heading out for the day, and you're not in the middle of a phone review, which phone do you reach for most often? That's probably going to give us a better idea of which phone to get than the individual reviews.
I love you Mr tech chap, but is there a way in the settings that we can watch movies in full screen mode because the reason we want a big screen is partly content consumption
*Let's pray Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be 1mm wider!* 👏 Come on Samsung this is what we all really want.. Galaxy Z Fold vs One Plus Open: *One Plus Open* 👑 *Here is the reason why:* Price is a lot too high I'd rather buy One Plus Open with 512GB and since it comes with 16GB RAM. I'm afraid going for Fold 6 with slightly better chip, isn't enough especially for multitasking 16GB>12GB. Plus the screen body ratio is more on One Plus Open, meaning the resolution is also higher and peak brightness. Samsung made the Z Fold 6 almost exactly like 1 Plus Open. The length and thickness and weight is almost the same. Except for the width.. which we all can agree it's still narrow.
Stopped using folds since the fold 3. The most annoying thing about them is after a period of time the folds do not fold out completely flat which is so annoying. Plus the prices on these folds should have decreased not increased! In my personal opinion the original fold was the best by the way.
At least in my country you can get a Galaxy S24 + Galaxy Tab S9 for almost HALF the price of the Fold 6. While I found it interesting, this price kinda defeats the purpose for me. Also I would still want the screens to be a bit wider and to have more battery life.
Been a iPhone user for 10 years and getting bored of the same design, thinking of upgrading to the z fold 6 how is battery for a heavy user social media RUclips and music ect without gaming and using the big screen much
Crease and black bars made it annoying for me to use (fold 4). Glad i traded up to a 24 ultra. One day i will likely come back to a fold phone, when they have properly upgraded it.
I've gone from the S24 Ultra to the Fold 6 and here's my review - Good gadget but no way worth £1800. The camera is lacking; For the money, I want the Ultra's cameras. The installed camera is lacking (low light is awful) The huge screen is pretty useless for movies as the ratio is odd (I swear my ultra has a larger viewble area) The charging is really slow and the front screen is waaaaaaay to small. Samsung need to drop the price. It's not worth £1800.
I had the Fold4 and agree absolutely. I find the use cases for the inner display are minimal as the aspect ratio makes it of little consequence, so I end up mainly using the outer display. I concluded that candy bar phones are better, and I bought a tablet for other stuff. As you say £1800 is terrible value, and in a few weeks, secondhand ones will be selling on eBay for
For me the size is a big plus...live that it feels smaller in my hand and in pocket...easily typing with one hand..and i have a big hand....also Samsung has Dex thats super handy....the software and ecosystem is also a big plus.....yes they need to work on the hinge also it could be thiner like the competiotion...and give it a magsafe magnet in. I dont find myself using the pen that much but it shoud be an option aswell.
I think Samsung can do a much better job, especially for the price. With that said, if they want to put many of these in the wild, they need to keep those "deals" alive permanently. No one is crazy enough to pay full asking price for this.
The fold 6 needed a bigger front screen, bigger battery , the dark corning non reflective glass, s pen outer screen, it was alright but incremental and I might wait until fold 7 or fold 6 slim. The software is excellent but the hardware needs work . I might get the book 4 pro 360 laptop or tab s10 instead. Its true Honor is winning w Huawei, Xiaomi , One Plus and Vivo in hardware. Its strange because the s24 ultra has good hardware. For me I'd rather buy the pro 360 4 laptop since I need a new laptop after my surface book 2 died and even despite wanting a foldable I will wait for fold 6 slim or fold 7 ultra until I get sufficient hardware simultaneously
All 2024 flagship phones have fast performance. That is not an advantage over any other recent phone release. I would also expect year-on-year improvements. As it is passively cooled, as we have seen with most 2024 phones, the headline numbers are only part of the truth, as the Fold6 will throttle fast and perform lower (60% in some tests I have seen) in intensive usage. Not that most of us push that hard, so the uptick in single-core will give it a snappier feel than older Folds but no more than other 2024 phones. Some improvements would obviously make the Fold6 better, from a larger battery to a broader front display, to s-pen silo and front display support, to more RAM options, and more modern cameras. Still, the absolute deal-breaker is the price, close to £2000 for 512GB with case and s-pen. I can't comprehend paying that amount of money for a phone. The trade-in says it will be worth only £550 after a year (i.e. pre-order special trade-in price for Fold5)! So, it is an easy pass. I got the Honor Magic V2 for £1200 on pre-order with a free gift of headphones (retail £350)--no trade-ins needed. I would not in any multiverse believe the Fold6 is worth more, especially as the V2 came with 512GB/16GB, a free case, charger, and insurance. So wait for the cheaper pricing as paying circa £2000 is not recommended unless you have high disposable income.
I can’t deal with the horrendous black bars. The RUclips experience is bad. Why I got rid of my fold 5. If they can fix the inner screen then maybe, but until then will stick to a tablet and a regular sized phone.
Hey Chaps! Would you ever switch to a Fold?? 🤔

I have been Note since Note2, on S22U now and nearly went Fold3. Glad I went S22U for travel, though I am thinking Fold6 soon and with more reviews
anti reflective screen actually doesn't mean much as soon as you put a protective glass that isn't anti-reflective .. and none of them are less or equally reflective as s24u
gotta appreciate the crisp quality videos from this channel and ofcos the good reviews...👏👏👏👏👏👏
if you had to choose between the fold and the ultra what would be your choice?
There are not enough significant improvements to make me upgrade my Fold 4.
What do you think your next upgrade will be?
@Thetechchap I would upgrade for a built-in pen and a higher optical zoom camera. I have no problem with the screen dimensions.
I just upgraded from the Fold4 and I disagree. The Fold6 is pretty awesome.
Thanks for the review may i know what's the camera you used to create this video please?
This is coming from someone who has been using the Fold 4 for a year (had to replace the screen but Samsung rejected warranty even though it was due to a well known issue with the brushes, they made me pay $500!! to fix it, after saying it would cost only $330)
The Fold 6 is not enough of a jump to warrant the massive price.
Yep I think so too, good points
Waiting for 5500mah and 200mp
Vivo x fold 3
I don't think you'll ever buy it then. Your expectations will grow every year as other phones get a new and improved feature. 😢 Sammy can't compete with the govt of China.
@@alphaspartanyeah I agree. Plus in theUS Chinese phones are a non starter here. Apple and Samsung reign supreme.
@@fboost no one cares what you think lil bro
Hi Tom - you state that the cover screen is 6.7 inches but that can't be correct ... I'm pretty sure it's 6.3 inches
My mistake, you’re right. 6.3, up from 6.2”
Hi Tom. Maybe you coudd tell us more about your new router wifi 7. How's its speed, range, performance, new features, etc. etc.?
Outer screen is almost 2mm wider. Yes, it’s only 6.3 inches versus 6.2 of the previous… But it’s 1.85mm wider. Which is where the inner screen being 2.7mm wider comes into play.
why you didn't mention that samsung will release another fold 6 with wider screen and bigger battery in 3 months from now?
First time ive heard about this, mind giving a source?
The pixel fold 2 is the format I’ve wanted Samsung to do.
Thank you, this was very helpful!!!
Love my Fold. I'm not that bothered about having the best camera and for me the form factor is a massive win
Appreciated overview ^^ Though, why futureproof if the understood goal is planned obsolescence within a shifting margin of market tolerability?
Unless if you import them... which can be a hassle if you are unlucky and need warranty service.
how’s the battery on the 6? I’ve had the 4 but sold it due to bad battery life (6 hours SOT max, (80% wifi, 20% data use)
This will be my personal phone and its exciting for me to upgrade from one plus to samsung.
eh 5 for a bit and really want the 6, but the constant worry about screen failures or stuff getting into the hinge has put me off!
Wtf at $1899 ,we still have to pay extra for the pen and even the charging brick.
Yes, get over it, just like chargers in the box. I know blame apple they started this crap!
Well they can make it $2050 and include them...would that make you happy?
Your cat ain't no white shoes. Calm down!
I have switched from the iPhone! I am completely obsessed with my Z Fold 6, never going back to a normal phone!
I totally agree. Replied using my Z Fold 6. 😊
I like the squared off edges. Samsungs slide out of the pocket and hands far too easily. I even go as far as to add adhesive grips to keep it from doing so.
I personally feel like the maximum price of a phone someone should purchase, should cost is > $1000. Rest if you are buying a phone with price
Do your screen open all the way up? if so is it flat? Mine do not seems to open all the way.
Can't do it. I used the oneplus Open for a bit, but losing the ecosystem sucked. Also, oxygen os is kinda buggy. I'll just wait until it improves.
If you're heading out for the day, and you're not in the middle of a phone review, which phone do you reach for most often? That's probably going to give us a better idea of which phone to get than the individual reviews.
Also,
Wish list for next year:
- Anti reflective displays
- Integrated S-Pen
- Wider outer display
- Bigger battery
Wider screen, shorter phone (less letterboxing) and longer battery life. 🎉
I love you Mr tech chap, but is there a way in the settings that we can watch movies in full screen mode because the reason we want a big screen is partly content consumption
Great & honest review, covered everything in a high quality video ! You got a new subscriber :)
*Let's pray Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be 1mm wider!* 👏
Come on Samsung this is what we all really want..
Galaxy Z Fold vs One Plus Open: *One Plus Open* 👑
*Here is the reason why:*
Price is a lot too high I'd rather buy One Plus Open
with 512GB and since it comes with 16GB RAM.
I'm afraid going for Fold 6 with slightly better chip,
isn't enough especially for multitasking 16GB>12GB.
Plus the screen body ratio is more on One Plus Open,
meaning the resolution is also higher and peak brightness.
Samsung made the Z Fold 6 almost exactly like 1 Plus Open.
The length and thickness and weight is almost the same.
Except for the width.. which we all can agree it's still narrow.
I picked one up a month ago I LOVE IT just please get screen protectors and a nice case for it
The cameras are awesome coming from an s21 ultra. Also, I wanted a smaller phone but I like big screens. This device give me both
Am a user of fold 5, expecting more prowess in battery life in fold 7
Stopped using folds since the fold 3. The most annoying thing about them is after a period of time the folds do not fold out completely flat which is so annoying. Plus the prices on these folds should have decreased not increased!
In my personal opinion the original fold was the best by the way.
The 3 sucked with that big gap it have. I bet you would think differently if you tried the F5/F6.
At least in my country you can get a Galaxy S24 + Galaxy Tab S9 for almost HALF the price of the Fold 6. While I found it interesting, this price kinda defeats the purpose for me. Also I would still want the screens to be a bit wider and to have more battery life.
Does angone in the comments realize there are trade in deals? Almost no one pays full.
After trading in my S23 ultra, I still paid more than what a Vivo x3 fold would have cost me.
Maybe in the US, but in the UK, trade-ins are less than the market value if you sell on eBay, so trade-in deals are moot outside the US.
@@mikethm1974maybe bcoz the Fold 6 is more expensive than chinese foldables? 😆
@@mikethm1974just curious if you’re outside the return window? Can you still get a refund and purchase the less expensive Vivo? Thanks
AT&T is giving me $1100 off with a Z Fold3 5G trade in! Heck yeah I'm upgrading!
So Honor is the King with the Magic V3 apparently. Good to know
Been a iPhone user for 10 years and getting bored of the same design, thinking of upgrading to the z fold 6 how is battery for a heavy user social media RUclips and music ect without gaming and using the big screen much
Crease and black bars made it annoying for me to use (fold 4).
100% agree
Funny....I'm on a Fold4 and gonna switch to the S24 ultra.
I had the Fold4 and agree absolutely. I find the use cases for the inner display are minimal as the aspect ratio makes it of little consequence, so I end up mainly using the outer display. I concluded that candy bar phones are better, and I bought a tablet for other stuff. As you say £1800 is terrible value, and in a few weeks, secondhand ones will be selling on eBay for
When the front screen's resolution of the Fold is the same as the Galaxy S line's, I'll buy it
Great review!👏👏👏
For me the size is a big plus...live that it feels smaller in my hand and in pocket...easily typing with one hand..and i have a big hand....also Samsung has Dex thats super handy....the software and ecosystem is also a big plus.....yes they need to work on the hinge also it could be thiner like the competiotion...and give it a magsafe magnet in. I dont find myself using the pen that much but it shoud be an option aswell.
Have got the fold 4....see nothing here to suggest a reason to upgrade 🤷
I have the fold 4. Will keep it till the fold 6 is out. Fold 6 isnt really an upgrade. Not worth it
I think Samsung can do a much better job, especially for the price. With that said, if they want to put many of these in the wild, they need to keep those "deals" alive permanently. No one is crazy enough to pay full asking price for this.
well, I don't have a fold. coming from an iPhone 14 pro max is it worth it
4:05 Drum Fill - “In The Air Tonight”
looks so amazing~
I'm coming off the the s22 ultra 5g. I'm sure this will be a decent upgrade
Is the under display camera better hidden or same as the fold 5?
Ever so slightly better with the pro visual engine and the processing, but basically the same
I love my fold 6!
Loving mine so far! Premium AF
I can’t deal with the horrendous black bars. The RUclips experience is bad. Why I got rid of my fold 5. If they can fix the inner screen then maybe, but until then will stick to a tablet and a regular sized phone.
Traded my old fold 3 for a new fold 6 for $1k
