I just found these reviews but thanks for making them! There’s so much to keep track of with the HR and I feel like I always forget things before a new book comes out. Having this kind of detailed recap of previous books is really helpful!

Great review. 👍 I just binged this book in record time. I thought it was great. Maybe not as good as the YA books from phase 2, but I liked it better than the YA books from phase 1. I feel like we're finally getting some answers to questions we've had since the end of P1, and new questions too. I just wish Vernestra would get more time. The non-Jedi characters are good and all, but I'm here for Vern!
Does this matter? I often ask this when reading all these chapters about the other characters. It feels like Avon and Vernestra are very important characters, considering what they've done up to this point, but they don't get much attention in the adult books, and that's what most people pay attention to. I'm hoping they get more shine in the rest of P3. The rest of the character's stories should matter. All that stuff about the moon sounds important, but I'm guessing the characters themselves will mostly be forgotten outside the YA books.

thats a good point, especially since some people decide to skip the YA books (which is a shame because some of the YA ones are my favs). I'm holding out hope that an upcoming adult novel will feature Vern more, especially since we know she will be in Acolyte! It seems like it would make sense to put her more front and center. I was at least happy that we got way more time with Avon in Eye of Darkness than it felt like we had before, so hopefully Vern will be the same soon! -Lauren

I have such mixed emotions with this book! I enjoyed the beginning, and also the cameo from Leox and Geode was a pleasant surprise (I wished there was more!). I also enjoyed the end, especially with that big "issue" now out in the open. But for me, the middle of the book was a chore at times to get through. It's not that I hated it, just...I dunno, slow at times? However, I am glad there was more background and forward momentum with the stormwalls. And more character development with Vernestra is also welcomed in my world. Fantastic review as always!

yeah I totally see where you're coming from, there's a couple moments suffering from that sagging middle syndrome. But yeah same, I am always wishing for more Leox and Geode 🤣 I hope we get a book in phase 3 more centered around the Vessel and that group!! -Lauren
