All I have to say is this: Ken is one of the most tragic characters in any movie, in the span of a couple days he lost his girlfriend and potentially his future to a Bee, and yeah he may not have been the nicest guy ever but I don't think anyone deserves that
The reason bees die when they sting humans is the fact our skin is too thick for them, so when they try to pull the stinger out, it rips their bodies in half, hut if you get stung you can wiggle the stinger out and the bee will be fine
Bees don't need all the honey they make, they will keep collecting nectar as long as it's available. Bee keepers arrange the bee boxes so that's there's a layer for the bees to nurture their offspring in, and one for collecting honey for winter. The excess honey is what gets taken out of the box :) The bees are staying in the boxes voluntarily, there's no way of keeping them in there against their will. If the conditions get unconformable for the bees, they will leave and find a new home. In nature bees keep making honey until they have no space to store it. When that happens they will breed a new queen, and a swarm of bees will set off with the new queen to build a new hive. Smoking the bees on the other hand only temporarily interferes with the bees' sense of smell. It's to prevent them from smelling warning chemicals from other bees, so that they stay calm and don't start an attack when the boxes are being inspected :3
Queen bees are sold for the purpose of being put in the boxes so the bees will stay. The wings of the queen are pulled so they dont leave. And it's not just the excess honey that is taken, it's enough that the bees need to be fed a lower quality replacement made out of sugar and stuff. The bees that make commercialized honey are not the same bees essential for our survival. They actually compete with the important bees. The problem caused in the movie is already happening due to honey farming. Look up Earthling Ed - honey

The stringer is sort of attached/wrapped around bees internal organs so when the stinger gets pulled out, it rips out their internal organs with it which is why they die. But if the stinger just falls off or only part comes off or if it doesn’t pull their organs out, they could live
The reason why farmed bees stay in the beehives that humans build for them is because the farm hives are safer and sturdier. The bees are free to move away and build a new nest somewhere else any time they want, they simply choose not to. This movie is nothing more than trying to copy the Chicken Run formula.
I'd love to see Seb watch more films about small creatures with their own world in the future, i.e.: - Epic - Arthur & the Invisibles - Strange Magic - Tinker Bell - Flushed Away - A Bug's Life - The Ant Bully, etc
Fun fact: The all flowers not being polinated because the bees aren't working was debunked by the Film Theorist as not only bees aren't the only pollinators of North America, but they're also technically invasive.
Bees can remove their stingers. It is normal for them to survive after a sting. The reason some die in the process is because they are so delicate, when we brush them off and the stinger is still hooked in our skin we basically rip their abdomen apart and that's how they die.
A bee fell on my head this morning when I was opening the door to let my dog out! It was pretty lethargic so I gave the little guy some sugar water and let it warm up inside. The gods must bee rewarding me with this video now haha 🐝
There's an old Greek story called Melissa the bee, which tells the story of why bees stingers kill them. Melissa gave the gods honey as a gift to gain favour, Zeus loved it so much that he commanded she provided it for the gods to eat regularly, Melissa however pointed out that it takes her months to create just a thimbles worth of honey and asked that if the gods want honey regularly that she be provided a workforce to produce it and a deadly weapon to kill any who try to steal the honey being made. The fact that she felt she could make demands of the gods inraged Zeus, so to teach Melissa a lesson he granted her wish and gave her a great workforce, of which she would be the queen, and each would be given a stinger to defend the honey and hive, however in closer inspection Melissa noticed a hooked barb in the tip of her new stinger, Zeus had given her what she asked for, and more, in doing so, he condemned her. Melissa couldn't use her stinger without ripping out her own innards in the process.
3:20 funny enough that's another bee pun! Drone is the name of a male bee. Their only jump is to mate and then die. The general bee that you see flying around is a female worker.
When you really think of the plot of the movie it kinda goes everywhere between a Bee Trying to find his place in the hive and then there’s a Bee romance with a human and then there’s bees wanting their honey back by literally taking them to court talk about a plot for a movie 😂
The reason stinging kills bees is that the stinger gets stuck in human skin, it literally is ripped out of their body. The stinger is actually attached to other organs, which is why this is so fatal. When they sting most animals with fur or scales, the stinger isn’t able to get stuck and therefore doesn’t kill them.
I remeber watching this movie as a kid and thinking "how do they kiss?" because it was obvious they were going for something romantic, it was one of my favorites and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Some people spray their bees with sugar water that way the bees will clean themselves and get fed at same time so you can get their honey and in a way that’s good for them
Pollen doesn't work that way at all. It doesn't revive flowers, it lets flowers more easily repopulate. Also pollen pretty much only works on flowers of the same species.

We do harvest honey "humanely." We use smoke because it does two things: it masks bee pheromones and it causes the bees to gorge themselves on honey in preparation to abandon the hive because of a fire. Bee boxes are constructed with many frames of wax honeycomb that we can separate and pull out individually. When bees fill a cavity, they cap it with wax. We cut off the caps and then spin the frames in order to get the honey out, leaving the wax. This is significant because wax is harder for bees to produce than honey, and there's no good reason to have the bees waste energy making the wax if we can leave it behind. We then return the frames to the hive. Normally, only a small quantity of bees are killed in this process, usually from things like getting crushed between the frames, as it's hard to make sure none get crushed. We also leave a bunch of honey behind so the bees have enough to eat and can survive the winter. When nectar is scarce, we sometimes supplement the hive's food with sugar water. The previous way humans collected honey was typically to just harvest an entire hive, which was made naturally by the bees instead of with wax honeycomb-filled frames.
