Thank you! My biggest takeaway from this video is that now I know why my Glimmer foils didn't work so well. They stuck everywhere EXCEPT on the toner. Picked up quite a few great tips here. Thanks!
I bought a Sovereign laminator because I didn’t want to spend the extra money on one of the foil machines. I love it I have no problem with it. Your video was packed with information on the foils and cleared up a lot of my questions. Thank you so very much for this video.
Always check your Tuesday Morning stores! 😃 I bought my mini Minc for $29.99 at my Tuesday Morning & there are always gorgeous foils there!! Just a heads up for my fellow foil Crafter's. 😃💖
I started watching your old foiling videos (my gray cells are not what they used to be, each time I foil I struggle to recall everything related to laminator foiling) then saw this ... you give so much information ... just want you to know I appreciate all that you do. I learn so much from you and it can’t be cheap to buy a lot of craft items to review. Which is another thing - I prefer RUclipsrs who purchase what they review and categorically state their preferences. Thank you again.
Very helpful information. I had an Anna Griffin minc machine years ago and had a lot of trouble with it. I got rid of it when I got the Royal Sovereign Laminator and then found out I was still having problems. After watching your video I bought a Heidi Swapp Minc on Amazon. I used the plastic sheets that I still had, set it to 4, and used my old Anna Griffin Christmas stuff that I still had and could not use correctly and used the deco foil and it worked great. I had a great time foiling all that stuff and now I can keep foiling. Thanks.
Thank you so much for this video. I do have the Minc but haven't used it much. Now I know to dust everything to get good results. I'm going to get mine out now. Also thank you so much for the tip on using nail polish remover on your clear blocks. That's a life saver for me. I hated having dirty looking clear blocks. I could never get them clean enough. Thank you thank you! I'm going to give it another try. I was thinking what about swifter dust sheets to wipe everything down with to remove all the dust
Hello Ian just starting out. I live your work. Could you possibly help me? I am having trouble with crackles effect on my pieces. It's not sully covering the image. What can I do to fix this? Thank you
Hi Nancy, I just watched your video and yes, you really do make it look easy. Can you tell me why my foil seems to want to attach everywhere when I run it through the laminator? I get the attachment to the toner quite nicely, but, almost all the foil sheet leaves a speckle coverage on the paper. So you can see the edges, almost like a fine powder of sand. Hope you can understand what I am asking.
Thank you for all the information. I just purchased a pack of Cricut foil transfer sheet. Tried using it with a laminator and its sticking to everything. I think it might be heat transfer foil.
Respectfully; not using time well is another waste. A video over an hour is often an indicator of that. Edited to add: although lengthy the info given here was very valuable. May I suggest summarizing in the beginning and the end what will be shown. This is worth investing the time.
Anita this was a live video so there is some interactions with the audience as well. in the future, you can press twice on the right side of the screen to fast forward. thanks for watching
Nancy Stamps Thanks. My heart sinks when I see a video over an hour. This info imparted was an hour well invested. Everyone is not an efficiency expert required to get info across in the shortest amount of time. Nor do they have to be. I saved it and took notes. Prayers and blessings to you.
If you take your cardstock to UPS and a black cardstock they will copy onto your white cardstock the black toner image and it is really very little money.
Thanks for all the tips! I ordered Nana's Roses foil, it was delivered a week ago, but either delivered to someone else, or it was stolen by porch pirates! :-( I will try ordering again after the holidays.
Your work is amazing but i need help! I have brushed like you showed (my paper, the foil , the Cartier sheet) and I am still getting speckles all over the card stock I’m using. We printed out all the invitations from a brother laser machine and it foils the letters perfectly but leaves speckles over the entire piece of paper… I’m using a Minc machine… please help it’s for my daughter wedding invites (I have tried every number heat amount)
Hello, I am having issues with wrinkling in my foil after i put in the laminator and some spots remain unfoiled due to the same , any ideas why this could be happening and what should i do to rectify it
Try using a paper shim to help stiffen the foil, try a different brand of foil, I recommend textile foils because they are a little thicker and finally try a different brand of laminator or Minc machine. You can also join us at Foiling Snobs club on Facebook for more info and show me pics of what you're using including your laminator and laser printer settings.
I just tried to link to Creative Vision Stamps and it didn't link. Also, when I directly put in website it went to a site that definitely didn't look right. Any one know what's going on?

Hey Nancy, have you tried the new Deco Foil DUAL gel for use in a laminator or you die machine! No more need for laminator, just let it dry and run foil and paper through your die machine. Nichol Spohr just did a video on it. Check it out!

I bought a brand new laser printer and hadn't switched to a new black toner cartridge (yet) for the purpose of foiling sticker sheets. I have yet to get a perfect foil - I can't figure out if it's just dust or the fact that I'm using a non full toner cartridge (it's nowhere empty of course but the ones that come with the printer are like "starters"). Really don't want to have to buy a different printer. I'm using a heidi swapp minc with the same line of foils. Any advice?
Go into settings. Change your toner density to manual and go to darkest. It doesn't matter if you are on starter toner, it's all the same. Also make sure you use smooth good quality paper like Neenah classic crest solar white. Finally, yes dust the foil and paper before foiling and wait till cool to reveal. If you are using a laminator have it on 5ml setting and preheat for 30 mins minimum.
Nancy Stamps Thank you! I will send you photos tomorrow when I’m home from work. I’ll have to play around to figure out how to change the settings (I guess from my printer itself). The foil sticks but is just very grainy and not smooth even when running it through my Minc two times.
Heidi came out with new foils and a new color large minc. I haven't heard the smaller one is being discontinued. Just harder to get with covid slowing down production and shipping.
Hot foils need to be used with a heat source like Gemini Foilpress hot foil machine, Spellbinders Glimmer, Go press & foil machine and hot foil stamp dies.

Foil quill is hot foil. It will stick to everything.

wow so helpful
You should add that this is not foil stamping and it's foil fusing.
