    Hello glitter girl! I had the Spellbinder foil system maybe two years ago. It was long before there were so many tutorials on RUclips. I just couldn’t figure it out and sold it along with all the colors of foil I had. You know you want to be prepared. Lol. You make it so easy, mi amiga!

      Oh no Deb! I can see how it definitely has a learning curve and would be frustrating if you weren't getting it to work for you! :( I was definitely lucky to have that 100lb cardstock on hand because it is the perfect weight. I had originally bought it for Copic coloring because it is super smooth, but then I found the Heffy Doodle copic friendly cardstock and love that for alcohol markers so the Hammermill was just sitting around and I thought, let's try it!

    I have had a glimmer machine for 2 years tried it when I first got it hated it put it back in the box and its still there . Your video got me inspired to get it out and try it again. Thank you.

    • @RebeccaKeppel
      @RebeccaKeppel  2 года назад

      I could totally see that happening! It can be so frustrating when a machine that you spend a decent amount of money on doesn't work the way you want! I recommend taking an afternoon and know that a bunch of my first attempts did not work out at all! By trying out different smooth papers you have and different sandwiches I think you will find the perfect combination for you!

    I know I've said this before, but I'm gonna say it again....I LOVE your videos! You're always so informative and adorable to watch! Adorable??!! Maybe not the best word, but I love your bubbly attitude. I've been on the fence about the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil machine. Do I really need another machine? Why do you do this to me Rebecca? I'm gonna have to get one for my birthday. I have watched other videos that show if you get foil in places you don't want, just use the Mono eraser to get it off. But I did like your tips on using the cardstock shim. Great idea. Thank you for the video and your time. You rock! Oh yea...you're definitely rocking that lavender nail polish too! LOL And yessssss...B-roll! 😁😁🥰🥰

      As for the Glimmer....I am really loving it.😬 I know, I know I had the same thoughts as you...do I really need another machine? And where am I going to put all those foil plates I now want to buy!!??!!😅 But I do really love it! I have used a mono eraser for over foiling, but it definitely works best if it is just little bits, not big random splotches like I was getting lol!
      Thank YOU for spending time hanging out with me and for your kind words too, watching all the way through and laughing with me! 💕😘🤗

      Thank you so much, Jen! That set of dies with the script sentiments and the splatters are super swoon worthy!
      I totally hear you. I've had my eye on the Glimmer since it came out....what, two years ago? With a big purchase like that I always do a pros and cons list. My cons were expense, finding room for another machine, how much would I really use it and the idea that I would need new dies and then store those too lol! But, on the pros side I love foiling and Yana Smakula's foiled cards sold me. I couldn't believe the absolute perfect foiling impression. And it is just so easy! And now that lots of card making companies are making foil plates, there are tons of options. Is it a necessity? No, but it is really nice to have lol.

    Thanks for this super thorough video! I actually bought the Couture Creations Go Press N Foil a few years ago. The Glimmer either wasn't out yet or had just come out or I might have gotten that instead. The GPnF is popular in Europe and particularly in Australia (duh, CC is an Aussie company). It's very very similar to the Glimmer and works pretty well in my Platinum. P.S. my favorite card is, of all things, that magnolia on the pink cardstock. Your influence is rubbing off on me 😉. Thanks!

      My biggest tip if you've just started is try not to get frustrated if you don't get 100% perfect results from the jump. Some days the stars are aligned and I get great results. Other days it takes several tries for me to get the look I want.

      @@mrsmcphate I know it's an expensive venture so it feels like it should always be 100% flawless, but there are just so many different factors that go into the result -- the quality of the foil plate, the foil, the paper, the sandwich and on and on, so yes, management of expectations is key! :) But most of all, have fun! :)

    Love the information, thanks! As a glimmer beginner, I'm interested in how you would keep all the dies straight for making a card front design or adding sentiments if you didn't want to die cut them out too. I can see there might be issues keeping everything in place for the foiling and die cut machine. Any thoughts?

    • @RebeccaKeppel

      Oh no! I do know that some people recommend pulling the platform from the machine before placing the foil and paper, but I don't think it is supposed to be that difficult to pull out. I would contact Spellbinders customer service and ask if there is anything you can do.

    Do you have any advice on how to make the actual hot foil plate to pull out easier from the machine. Mine plugs in so hard that it's difficult to unplug it from the machine to run through my die cutting machine. I've tried to just plug and unplug it to see if that will loosen it up a bit but it hasn't seemed to make it not be so tight. I know it has to make contact with the machine base but it takes so much force to unplug it that what is laying on top shifts.

    • @RebeccaKeppel
      @RebeccaKeppel  2 года назад

      Sometimes mine gets a little sticky to remove too. Maybe it is where I am placing my hands to remove it? I have heard others sometimes have a really hard time to remove it. Mine isn't that bad, but I do sometimes shift everything when I remove it. Sometimes I place the foil then remove it then place the paper and plates quickly and run it through. That might be your best bet. If it is RAELLY REALLY hard to get it to come out, you might want to check with Spellbinders customer service?

    This is one thing I just can’t justify buying. It’s a very big investment for something that may or may not give you good results! I can get similar results with my stamps and embossing powder, while using what I already have. The crafting industry seems to be turning into a money pit. While it’s nice to have new products, we also have to ask ourselves how much we’re willing to spend to make cards!
