I never would have thought this would work. I never bought this machine because the thought of purchasing a bunch of new dies irritates me. Now I can use the embossing folders... wow. Now I feel better about purchasing this machine.
Couture Creations Go Press and Foil, does letterpress and hotfoil in one. You use their plates for both, and any other companies'. You can also use your thin dies with a metal adaptor plate. You can get almost new ones secondhand for less than the cost of just one of the other single use machines.
Pia, this is a game changer! I have so many plastic embossing folders that I don’t use anymore, I don’t mind if any of them get ruined by the heat. Also, about 15 years ago when Spellbinders first started up they did an embossing plate that was a thin metal that you ran through your embossing machine. I had a Cuddlebug machine at that time, and they did a wonderful job of embossing the paper. Everybody got rid of theirs when the plastic folders came out, but I kept mine. So glad I did! I’m going to try this technique with my old, thin metal embossing dies fromSpellbinders.
A friend mentioned these to me and she's had good results... think they are called Impressabilities. I tried one with not good results but will try again!
Thank you ❤ this worked well with Acetate. I used the Spellbinders sparkling snow 3D embossing folder. And I used just the thicker glimmer plate as the embossing folder is thick and a thin shim cardstock. And since it's acetate it worked fine. I had a bit of an overfoil but I can cover it up. I was very scared to try at first so put a thin copy paper on glimmer platform.
I just ordered my machine...can't wait to get it so was looking at videos...wow...I cant believe you were brave enough to try this I would have thought it would melt the folder...but I'm glad you were cause this is awesome! Thank you! Love this idea!
Your video just popped up in my feed and I can’t wait to try this with MY machine and different sandwiches !! I was VERY impressed with how they turned out…. Thank you for sharing all your tips and the results ❤ Nancy Rolfe P.S. I also subscribed
Just got my machine. So I'm trolling You Tube for info. So glad I found your videos. Loved how you tried it with embossing folders. More things to try!!!! Thanks for sharing.
Amazing technique!! Oh my goodness, I never would have thought to try embossing folders with the foil system. Thank you for sharing this, I’m excited to try it.
Thank you so much for this video. This is one of the best videos I’ve seen in a long time in terms of subject matter, pace, and explanation! Really enjoyed it!
Wow! Wonderful results from using EF....which as others have said, I would never have thought to use! Thank you for being curious and enlightening all of us!
I have several cards on my blog where I use the negative foil... printer paper on heat platform (so not to get the grid design from platform)...negative foil...card front...then build your sandwich a bit more.
Thank you Patty :) Yes, I do have several other Hot Foil videos. If you go to my YT channel, then I have a Playlist for Glimmer Hot Foil. Some of the videos are with Danish voiceovers, so just skip over those. Almost all my videos are made in an English voiceover version and a Danish voiceover version.
Hi Mary :) I am still working on solving this matter. But the moment I’ve found the perfekt solution, I will make sure to make a How-to-video :) And thank you for asking 😄
@@PiaKroghLarsen Just bought my Spell Binders Hot foiling system yesterday. There is a flat foiling plate from Pinkfresh that you can use for the negative foil so it is not wasted. I watched it on Jennifer McGuire Ink so when I bought the foiling system I purchased that plate as well. But now I am wondering if I could have used a thin plate metal plate from the hardware store. Darn should have thought of that sooner! I am so thankful for your video so I don't have to invest in hot foiling plates for backgrounds. This is a game changer and money saver for me!!
Hi Holly, I am not so sure this technique will work with 3D embossing folders. Reason is that the pattern in 3D is on several levels, whereas it needs to be 2D for the impression on the foil to be good. But I cannot be a 100% sure. Why don't you give it a go and test it out :) If you do, please let me know how it went :)
Hi Bunnie, you can use all colours of wafer thin dies for hot foiling. They do not have to be gold to work with Hot Foiling :) I have already made a couple of videos showing the use of wafer thin dies with the Glimmer Hot Foil System. You can find them in my Playlist for "Glimmer Hot Foil System". Just make sure to choose the video with English voiceover :)
Wow, who knew you could put a plastic embossing folder in a glimmer. Beautiful!

I finally got this system and I'm so excited to know I can try embossing folders too as I have a LOT of them. Thank you!

WOW ! I just got my Glimmer can hardly wait to test my dies and now folders. Thank God for creative minds like yours.
That is amazing. I would have thought the heat would be bad for the plastic embossing folders, so I would have been too chicken to test it out. Kudos!
Absolutely gorgeous ❤
Wow! I would never have thought of using my embossing folders like this! Absolutely fantastic video 😀
Who knew about all these alternatives. Thanks for showing us how to create with the foiling machine
What a great idea. Pinkfresh has just brought out a flat plate for beautiful results with the negative foiling.
I know 😁👍🏻 It has finally arrived on the Danish market and I ordered it yesterday 😁
wow that was amazing never occured to me to use an embossing folder - or a metal shim
I just ordered my machine...can't wait to get it so was looking at videos...wow...I cant believe you were brave enough to try this I would have thought it would melt the folder...but I'm glad you were cause this is awesome! Thank you! Love this idea!
Great tips!! Finally, I can use my embossing folders also. I will try it out, thanks.

Thank you so much for this video. This is one of the best videos I’ve seen in a long time in terms of subject matter, pace, and explanation! Really enjoyed it!
You are most welcome Ann Lee 😁 And thank you too!
Use the negative with a blank toner sheet or a page with embossing ink on it 😎. Great video!
Great video. If you get the Pinkfresh studio full glimmer plate, you can use your left over foil. Jennifer Mcguire has a nice video on it.
Hi Brenda, Thanks for the tip! I actually already have the full glimmer plate from PFS. Just haven't made a video using it yet :)
Wow! Wonderful results from using EF....which as others have said, I would never have thought to use! Thank you for being curious and enlightening all of us!
How does the foil turn out if you sandwich the paper between the folder, so you are using both front and back?
Such a great way to get more use out of embossing folders
Yes, indeed it is Tracey :D
Wow. Great idea and very good video. Thank you for sharing.
Wow. Awesome. Thxs for showing us how to do it

Ohhh, that I will have to try out. Thanks for the great tip, Laura :D
Finally someone used the big shot with the glimmer machine...thank you very much! Do you have any other tips or videos?
Thank you Patty :)

Wow, a great inspiration
I have the same votive holder
Thanks for sharing this technique! What type of white card stock are you using?
Wouldnt the heat from the glimmer machine melt the folder as it is made of plastic??
Hello! Whats happen to the negative foil? Can we use? Thanks
Virkelig flot 😍

wow, it is getting to be too much to remember, but fun I suppose.
Have your embossing folders warped?
I have not experienced any warping in my embossing folders.
Do you know if
Do you know if you have to use dies that are gold for hot foiling. I heard that silver works ok also
