- Everyone uses aluminum foil in their kitchens, but did you know you can use it in your cardmaking too? I show how to emboss foil to make beautiful backgrounds or stunning design elements. You can use any embossing folder, not just the ones that look like metal plates. In my video, I show how I make the foil embossed pieces; even die cut shapes! As always, there are plenty of card samples to inspire you to give this a try.

The embossed foil is so pretty. It just shows all the detail. All the cards are just beautiful, even the cutesy cards. Nice technique.

Greetings from Australia! I'm not sure if someone mentioned it already as I'm not going to read all the comments, but you wanted to know the song on the Merry Melody 3D Embossing folder? The song is Joy to the World and it's written for a 4 part choir to sing but can also be played on piano/organ or harp. Thanks for the video. Funny I bought a roll of adhesive aluminum tape from the hardware store just the other day for this very purpose! I bought a 2.5" roll as that was all I saw.
How great is that? Nobody has told me the song - would it be bad to use it at non Christmas times? You must be musical- do you sing or play or both? What part of Australia? I have friend who live on the east coast, but I’ve only visited the west coast (Perth and south). I would love to visit more!! Glad you liked the video and thanks for taking the time to comment.

I am on the east coast. You have SU's permission to use the embossing folder on any card you make and most people wouldn't know what the song was. If it helps any, the card on the website is upside down so neither did they I guess!@@thepowerofacard2227

But, I don't think it would bad at all to use this folder on non-Christmas cards& projects. I haven't seen many embossing folders with songs on it. Just the music notes gives a suggestion that it is musical theme, no matter what it sounds like.☺️
I have cut up a pieces of scrapbook paper that has notes on it, have no idea what the song is, I just wanted to make embellishments that have notes on them, to make cards for the musical people in my life.😊 Better than cutting up actual music sheets.

Greetings from your neighbor just north in Cleveland. This is beautiful! I make about 30 cards a month and have not seen this before. I'm heading to the kitchen for some foil and will do this later today. Thank you for a different technique!

Soda cans are also a great medium to emboss. You have to cut off the top and bottom to get a flat piece of can to work with. I just poke it with a scissors and begin cutting,
Yes - someone else said they did this too! That idea is new to me, so it's one I'll have to try!

I would have thought 3D embossing folder would tear foil. Apparently not.

I use my xyron machine to apply the sticky to my paper before applying the foil. This makes it more uniform
I don’t have one of those. How often do you use it? I thought it was mainly for making stickers, but it sounds like you use it more for general all-over adhesive. I might have to look into getting one - thanks for the tip.

That was years ago before I ever heard about Stampin Up. They are fun & they look nice. Your cards are lovely & that ribbon with the silver thread edge looks great with the silver foil. These are super cute. Alcohol ink colors foil instantly, and dries super quick. Lots of colors available too.
Someone else suggested that - I will have to try it. Way better than waiting for the stazon to dry! Thanks for liking my cards!

Beautiful cards. Could probably use some alcohol markers for different colors too. Great designs. I like to decorate my envelopes, but hadn't tried embossing the flaps, but will in the future!

Welcome to my channel Gloria! I don’t have a video of that but I will try to incorporate that soon. All you have to do is put the flap in the embossing folder and run the folder sideways through your machine. It’s not ideal because you normally want the fold to go first, but it is ok. I hope you enjoy all my videos - I have plenty!! Thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself!

Always prefer double mats
I love double or even triple mats. I used to do that a lot when I scrapbooked.
Lovely technique with the foil. I wonder if you could change the colour of the foil with alcohol inks, either before or after embossing. Experiment time. Thanks.
Thank you Donna! I did try using my blends markers but that didn’t really work. If you have success with alcohol inks, let me know!
Suggest you add white paper inside for sentiments
I usually do add white for insides but sometimes I like to do it a little differently just to mix it up.
