I had the Sony 5000 in my 18 SGS. Liked it over the factory receiver. Pro's EQ and size. Cons Volume would run away when using thumb controls. Water incursion. I replaced it with the Soundstream Reserve unit. Much better. The one thing about the Sony was the ease of mounting another amp vertically in front of the receiver. The Soundstream is the exact size of the factory unit which makes it almost impossible.
That is an incredibly beautiful Ultra (I have a 2016 Ultra) I call it my Caddy with 2 wheels. Thanks for using ROCK music for us to hear. So many of these videos people use rap or similar which is fine if that's your thing. I now have work to do on mine....so much for saving money.....haha. Bring on the summer! Great looking and sounding!
Great videos. Very professional feel to them. You definitely know more about car audio than the average diy guy 👍 so are you or were you a professional installer as your day job? Keep up the awesome work from another Vancouver local
Yes. It was the very first thing I did to that bike when bought it. I struggled for 5 years with the stock head unit. I did manage to get some decent sound out of it but there were other things about it that drove me nuts. The Sony is just light years ahead of the 2015 stock head unit.
@@i.b.lancer thanks . did you use a ferrule to get it to fit in that amp? My friend has the same amp and they used a 10 guage wire that barely fits in that opening. Thanks again.
To be honest, It was a while back now and I’m an old fart, I don’t remember the exact details of hooking that amp up. If it was that tight I may of used a furret. I honestly don’t remember.
I have a 2020 CVO LIMITED about to do a stage 2 Fosgate. Just not happy with Boom 1. What's your opinion on single Amps in the lids vs. A additional 400W to run lower pods & Lids?
I'm a believer in Simple. Simple is easier to maintain with less stuff to go wrong as it ages. A couple of amps under the fairing will keep the wiring down to a dull roar and if there's a problem 5 years down the road it won't cost you an arm and a leg to diagnose and fix the problem.. simple.
Brother they say you can learn a lot from watching and your videos are the best. I see you have audio control amps because they come with the GTO on the units can someone such as my self who only wants a sub or two in my Tri Glide Ultra trunk just grab the signal off of the rear speaker and get away with no rca's and it bang out some lows or do I need to get a DSR1 and flash the factory head unit?
I really want to tell you to do it right but you seem opposed to that, so...yes that could work. Chance's are you'll need a line converter to clean up the signal.
@@danielzamora3769 I would run it first to see what kind of noise you get. I forgot that you said you wanted to use audio control amps. They have a speaker level input and in theory it should sound OK. If you’re just using the signal for a sub, chances are it’ll be OK.
Yes I am running the stock alternator but I also have a lithium ion battery which recharges quite quickly and I do not run that stereo when I’m not riding. No problems so far.

I don’t mind it. It has lots of power. I’m thinking about getting a second one. If I had any complaints it would be that there is a LED light on it that never goes out and it is a draw on the battery. A small one but a draw nonetheless.
@@Heavy69Metal That's a grounding problem. I would take a look at what your grounding to. Make sure your ground is going to the battery. One of the updates I made sure to do was upgrade the ground from the battery to the frame. Not sure it was in this video, I think it was in the 8" speaker install part 2 video. Don't feel bad, a lot of people overlook proper grounding.

Did you upgrade the 8 gauge wire to 4 gauge on the Biketronic amp?
Nope. Just used a good quality 8 gauge. I haven’t had any issues with it and it’s so bloody loud that I actually have it dialed down in my mix.
Did you try getting the factory radio flashed before replacing it? Nice video!

Can you tell me what that metal bracket is called that you ran wire through at bottom of ur bag.
They're called clamshell vents.. They're a marine product but work good in this case.. Here's a link... amzn.to/3eehVir
