Those "beverages" weren't energy drinks, they were cans of Strongbow, a cider. The drummer was drinking and having a blast.

Might I add as well Strongbow is an alcoholic Cider, from what I understand in the states "cider" just means cloudy apple juice, "Hard" cider is what they call alcoholic cider

The genius of Arctic Monkeys is in the lyrics. The music is fantastic too but the lyrics, especially that first album, are phenomenal.

He's american he does't understand a word of the lyrics pal

the genius of Arctic Monkeys is not only the lyrics themselves, but the SUBGENRE too; it's pub rock and there's nothing the British working class enjoy more than singing in pubs when pissed off their heads. It hearkens back to sea shanties for when repetitive work is boring and it brings strangers together today. Arctic Monkeys represent that and that's why they're so popular; they're an opportunity to forget about the world of work and just enjoy being alive with everyone else. And I fckin love it; the UK may not be perfect a lot of the time but, under the rule of British bands, it's times like these when you realise this country's home.

Matt helders is probably one of the best drummers of the 21st century...
Nothing particularly special about the way he plays, but man he doesn't miss a beat

Helders is great but Morgan Simpson from Black Midi is in a different league

You know, some drummers aren't very skillful, but somehow they're just look very cool when they play the drum. For example, Ringo Starr. Ringo is not as skillful as the great John Bonham, but somehow Ringo looks so cool when he plays the drum

I think what sets matt helders apart from everyone else is that he's up there with the top drummers of all time but he still has a basic starter kit. He doesn't need anything else because he can do it all on 2 Tom's and a snare.

    • @georgeb9388

@@jimmybd2309 that kits definitely worth like a couple grand at least let alone the cymbals too, not a starter kit bro haha

Drummer's name is Matt Helders. Actually met him in the parking lot of a gig in Ft. Lauderdale, FL several years ago. Band had been booked to play a festival in South Florida that got cancelled. They were already in town, so booked a last-minute show at 3,000-capacity club for the same weekend, which was awesome. They play a festival like this in front of 250,000 people but were more than eager to do a club show in front of a small fraction of that. Ran into him coming off their tour bus while I was on line to get in. Cool kid, and I could not understand half of what he said because of how thick his accent was, but he played the hell out of that show.

Matt Helders is the drummer, I'm sure some have already cued you in. Dude is both underrated and easily one of the best rock drummers of his generation. Not enough people give Matt his due, Turner's vocals are incredible and that with the guitars catchy riffs and the nice bass lines usually catch the ears first. But for those of us who appreciate good drumming... we know Matt Helders is far and away one of the best in the business currently.

The hang ups on the strings with the pick are deliberate...he does it on the album too to add a wee twang at the end of every few chords.

Their live performance and stage presence was very basic in the early days. Over the years its completely evolved. They went back to Glastonbury in 2013 at it was one of the best glasto performances ever in my opinion. If you're looking for more of their stuff to react to I'd recommend; a certain romance, fluorescent adolescent, pretty visitors, crying lightening or why d'you only call me when you're high? Great video man.

I don't see those in the que, so they would have to be fresh requests. The thing to realise is that those bass-sounding riffs that got hung up were actually Alex's parts. He sings WHILE playing that.

I don't know for sure, but you don't typically start shows with anthem singalong songs like Sun Goes Down, so no I'm pretty sure that was not the beginning of the show. Matt Helder is widely recognized as one of, if not, the best drummers produced by the UK in this millenium.

    • @RV-vx9ek
      @RV-vx9ek 3 года назад +1

Funny enough, it actually is the start of the show. The intro music before they came on stage was from Matador I believe. Right after Brianstorm, they go right into Still Take You Home. This was such an insane set.

You NEED to react to Batphone by the Monkeys live. The one at Manchester Arena on 06/09/2018. It's completely different to anything they've ever done before, but that doesn't mean it's bad (which a few people don't seem to understand).
And great video by the way! :D

mAn i kind of wish you did lyrics reactions. They have have great lyrics and the music fits the different themes of the lyrics so well. especially there first album. 8,4 great score. I touht you would score them lower. I always wish the vocals would sound better live with artic monkeys. But there energy live is great.
