- Solar Panel Setup, off grid setup. In this video you see me connecting 2x solar panels to a PWM Solar Charge controller (MPPT charge controller can be used) and connect cables from the battery to a inverter and also connecting cable from the battery to the charge controller.
Check out my PART 2 video: • BASIC OFF GRID Solar P...
Please make sure you do your research and you know what your doing before attempting to setup yourself (your solar setup is at your own risk). Ask for professional help if your unsure of what your doing.
I will look to change from a PWM charge controller to a MPPT change controller and add another battery and more solar panels over time. The whole setup here may change as time goes on.

Nice setup, safe and very informative video. Thank you. 👍
Really neat instalation and layout, thank you
Great video! I went with a slightly more expensive mppt charge controller which allowed me to run higher pv voltages with panels in series with less cabling
Thanks for sharing
Great presentation. From Srilanka
Thank you

Thanks for your video. I prepared nearly all the same components as u showed in this video. I will follow your procedure step by step. Please check your breaker from controller to battery. The Amp is too small. Good luck!
I’m glad the video was helpful. Thanks for your message
Hi mate good video. I bought the same inverter as you in the video. When I plug my my laptop charger or phone charger with the 3 pin plug it makes a continuous beeping sound. Even when I use my van battery or my leisure battery
Good video mate, links are for UK only. Thanks
Great video! Can you leave the inverter switched on all the time? Where did you get those breakers?
Hi, great video, I have a question where did you get the little switches on the cables ? 🧐🧐
What size cable did you use from battery to rhe controller please ?
Hi what Amp Breaker have you got between battery and 230v inverter ? thanks
can I use it for fridges and laundry??
Hi kindly tell me for 1kw system what size dc circuit breaker’s do I need and for inverter out put what size ac circuit braver. Would I need thanks kindly reply thankyou SYED
Nice, straightforward intro! Looks like you're outside lights are DC, running off a wall-wart PSU. If they're 12v, you can wire them straight into the battery, rather than invert up to 230v AC and then stepdown to LV DC. Save a little inefficiency.
Thanks for sharing your information
@@PwinkleRHiya mate. Is it possible to add more batteries in parallel?
Nice informative video.
Though I have some remarks about the fuses/circuit breakers.
1: This type of circuit breakers are rubbisch! Better to use proper (ANL/AFL) fuses and switches.
2: Fuses should be located as close as possible to the power source (never more than 8 inches/20cm.But a battery terminal mounted MRBF fuse is the best and safest). Mounting your circuit breakers so close to the charge controller is of little use.
Choose fuse amperage to be 1.25 times the max expected load and max cable current (the lowest of these two.).
Ty sir

Are you happy with the echo brand?
So you have a 30 amp solar charge controller?
Hi I’m a truck driver and I am thinking of taking a 12v LED TV & PS4 to play for 2hrs per night! both low wattage. Really confused as to what set I need!
A “portable power station” might be best for you. You can also use the car to 12v socket to change it while travelling and you can also get solar panels for it.
If you Are planning on fitting solar panels to your roof you can use the setup I have in my part 3 or 4 video, you can alway add more battery’s that way
Don't use the inline fuse holders you have does not work well with Victron controller is giving you inaccurate fluctuation it's because of your breaker i had that same problem change your breaker to better ones
Thanks for the information, what breaker do you recommend?
Can you tell me the watt on the inverter. Bought one just like it and will be setting It up. Tested with battery and it ran my refrigerator. Just odered 2 160 panels. Mine is from China looks just like yours. It says 16000 watt
But reading these inverters they only produce have the watts. Great video. The only thing i think I am going to do is run my panels in serious. But us the same set up and have a fuse on the negative side of the panel. That's what I am seeing in most videos.
Sir on your solar panel fuse protector. You run it before your Charge controller. This protects the solar panels from burning up from the sunlight. If there may be a problem with you solar panel charge controller. There under $5 to buy. You have to look at the voltage of the solar panels you are using and get a fuse protector that is a few volts hirer than the volts on your solar panel. This is should be Dime Amy way you run you solar panels. To the negative wire. Just mount it to your soalr board before you put in the charge controller. It can be looked up on RUclips. It is a must and can save you alot of money.
The new inverter I recommend is 2000w pure sine wave inverter in my part 2 video
HI! what size of awg are you using for this controller? Thanks.
8 or 6 awg from controller to battery I believe
@@PwinkleR Thank you.
Hi pwinkle. I uses custom made copper wire. 2.5mm copper wires for better power delivery. I dont trust wires provided by the solar seller. It is so thin. Every connecrion i triple the wires, from controller to battery and solar input. All the wires goes to bus bar. Each input and output has bus bar.
Can this setup power a fridge, computer and a few lights?
Depends on the amount of watts each appliance uses
Hello where do you buy your equipment cheers
I found everything on eBay, you will also find it on Amazon
What's the setting set point fo lithium batteries
I want to know how to setup for lifepo4, too
Great Vid! I'm still so confused though. Been trying to figure out what to get but I need assistance. Can you help me out? I would glady pay for a 15mn phone call. I live in London. Let me know.
Is that a 230 volt plug in the center of the inverter ?
240v sockets
I hope you swapped the PWM controller for an MPPT.?
Check out my part two video
Are breakers same as fuses,?
There different. My understanding is a breaker just trips the switch (which you can reset) a fuses will break but you can’t reset it (you’ll need a new fuse)
you can use either
How much amp is the controller??
This one is a 30A
@@PwinkleR but your battery is 100 amps..... Does it not over heat the controller???
How much is this set up
This small setup was about £900
@@PwinkleR I was looking at a victron setup battery to battery set up add solar later good set up you have and a good chunk of money
O
Why you are not using mppt.
I will be upgrading to one soon
Keeps my power supply fully charged
Where are the lights? Just add lights to your panels for 24 hour power supply 365 days a year just add lights! Wind power just add a fan! Hydro power just pump the water back into the lake!
thanks for your message
The eco worthy warranty is crap....bad panel and zero reaction from eco worthy. Dont buy that shit!
