Being a true fan of Eric this song as well as tears in heaven helped me heal ,I'm 56 I've played guitar for many years Eric has always been one of my favorite guitarist when my son was born in 87 I named him after Eric my son was tragically killed in 89 , shortly after Eric's son died, Eric through his music and my faith got me through ,I won't ever get over it but I learned to live with it ,I haven't herd this song in awhile always brings a tear. Over 30 years but still feels like yesterday peace love and God bless you 🙏
God bless you. I know you have been told this about a million times and it is probably going to sound so hollow, but your little one is now by God's side forever. I know there is no better place for a child to be than in his parent's arms, but please try to take solace in God's love.
@@almasarajlic2306 Cao Alma. Hope your doing good. I'm 17 now makes me hug mu family thr hardest. Love from Serbia. Just leaving this here as a reminder to me and a time capsule. Love for everyone, keep your head up and never quit. Life isn't beautiful unless you make it that way. Smile and love whoever that may be. 9.7.2021 until forever.
I lost my 5 month son due to a heart condition in 1990 and this song´s touched me since the very first time I heard it till now. However everytime I hear it again somehow fills my spirit and brings a bit of hope for better days no matter how sad I feel and despite that terrible event. For I know there will come the day when I´ll be finally with him and his mom (my wife -in heaven too-) together for eternity
I am so incredibly sorry to hear about your son and wife 😔 I am sure they will be waiting for you and are looking down at you from above right now ❤️ Stay strong ❤️
I never even knew this song existed. I remember the tragic death of his son and the song "tears in heaven" he did for Conor but this song, I wasnt aware of it until today in March 2020. I suppose tears in heaven was just that much more of a powerful song than this one in regards of the tragedy. A good friend of mine lost her nephew a year after Conors death and tears in heaven was played at the funeral as I'm sure it was at many children's funerals for years to come after it was released.
he wrote this song in regards to taking his son to the circus the night before the accident happened. In clapton's heart, im sure this holds more value.
Many people always write that wrong. There are many variants to spell this name. His name was Conor Loren Clapton. Or look at photos of his grave. There it also says Conor. Believe me, I'm researching since years 😉
Only thing I would change in this song is that line "all your friends gather around, because the circus left town..." If he took out the line "all your friends gather around" and just said "cause the circus left town" It would flow better IMO. It just feels so pushed and doesn't seem to fit. Any thoughts fellow Musicians ?
From what I understand the friends gathered round line is the people consoling him on his sons memorial service which was the same day the circus left town according to a interview with him I once read. It was a circus he took him to earlier so for him it fits and he’s just sharing that with us.
Possibly the saddest yet most beautiful song ever written.
The last night Eric spent with his son Conor was when he took him to the circus. Beautiful sweet and heartbreaking.

Touching and haunting, yet beautiful song. Thanks Mr Clapton
This song is awesome! It explains exactly the way Conor was. He was a very exciting beautiful child. One in a million!
Every child is one in a million.
What a heartache.
Linda musica....tocante a homenagem de Eric para seu filho Conor.....
Tears In Heaven always reminds me the death of my one and only son. It's really painfull..I love you son.

Nice Video,
No, it's Conor. Look at the funeral card.

@@M1M1OBAIH Oops. moment. Sorry.
It's okay 😂
You didn't have to edit the comment. Now my comment below sounds strange 🤣
Sad )))-; So Sad ! )))-;
In future videos, make sure you put the lyrics up ahead of their cues. It'll make it easier for people to sing along properly 👍
Seriously?

It's perfect the way it is because this song was never meant for us, but only his son and himself.
Yes. I agree. I was thinking the same thing
Questioning his motivation for writing what he did isn't up to us. And, yes, I'm a musician and you don't change a perfect lyric.
the other 2 songs are better.
