    Tyranitar is weird because it feels broken in the teambuilder, but when you're playing a match it just feels like another mon.
    Because once you assume sandstorm will be up, it's really just a good Pokémon

    • @Oscarus4250
      @Oscarus4250 20 дней назад +2

      Tyranitar is used primarily as glue that connects the team rather than one-mon army. While its' offensive capabilities are very good and shouldn't be underestimated, Tyranitar's reliability lies in its versatility and movepool. It can futfill a few different roles: from bulky utility, to wallbreaker, and it can always find a role for itself.
      Tyranitar's only major flaws are its' relatively low Speed in comparison to the rest of the metagame (not even Jolly +1 Ttar can outspeed base 130+ Speeds or 80+ Spe+ Scarfers), awful defensive typing (which is helped but not saved by Terastalization, especially since several other Pokemon can use it to better benefit), and, paradoxically, Sand Stream (it forces the team to be at least partially focused on Sandstorm which cuts the team options; and Tyranitar's Hidden Ability, Unnerve, is situational crap, even in Doubles)

    • @kyklous3657
      @kyklous3657 Месяц назад +26

      Well would be a good video, but I'll take a crack at answering. First off, physical attackers don't really have a Blissey equivalent although Unaware and Regenerator mons are increasingly invalidating this argument. Second, physical moves tend to be stronger or more accurate than their special counterparts. Compare Close Combat to Aura Sphere/Focus Blast, Flare Blitz to Flamethrower/Fire Blast, etc. Lastly, would be distribution of boosting moves. To this day, there really isn't a widespread special equivalent of Dragon Dance.
      All this isn't to disregard the validity of special spam as it does actually pop up quite a bit.

      Special hitters don’t really have a way to boost both of speed and special attack aside from Volcarona. Physical attacker is catered by GF judging the amount of abilities and items specifically helping physical mons to sweep (Guts, Unburden, technician, etc). Blissey is a perfect wall to answer most special mons, but there isn’t a mon that can do the same with physical attacks (the bulkiest on physical side has abysmal hp and is weak to the most common fighting move). They might add a pure ghost pokemon with 150hp and 200 def in the future and watch that thing got banned to Uber.

    I have an entry that fits the criteria of the video: the Gen 8 Ubers trifecta of Yveltal, Necrozma-DM, and Eternatus.
    All three mons have (or had) > 90% usage in the tier, aka essentially mandatory in all teams, cause they are extremely easy to slap on a team for the pure amount of threat and utility they provided for the tier. The three kind of check eachother to some degree as well. Yveltal is particularly used an absurd amount, cause not only its utility is off the charts, but it is also the tier's primary check to the dangerous Calyrex-SR.
    The three mons have this sort of RBY Tauros/Snorlax/Chansey dynamic in terms of both usage and how they handle the tier, that it is strangely charming to see something like this happen in a modern generation.

      @@HowlingOneifyI think right now it's probably a lot more manageable than it was at one point. A couple shifts ago, before cobalion became so prominent, there were also a lot more pokémon who were either one shot or nearly so at the top of the meta game then there are right now. I think the bigger problem at this point is it plus the other insanely good offensive dark types. It was already a problem before the recent shifts, where the majority of good teams were running two dark resists just to survive (or were running a dark resist plus Tera fairy dirge or Apple as a longer lasting option). And now we are also dealing with weavile and far better spikes setters that the knock off users can synergize with.
      I think the main reason they didn't include it though is that generation 9 UU is still a metagame that's in pretty quick development. We just lost a s- ranked (iirc, it may have been a+) pokémon and gained several extremely powerful pokémon, one of which is almost certainly going to be banned (the main discussion I'm seeing is if it's going to end up getting quick banned or if it will have to be suspect tested). So realistically anything they say has a pretty high chance of being out of date by the end of the week.

I hate the matchup fishing nature, that such a slow bulky team has very little outplay potential and is often decided primarily at preview. Some people also hate how long it takes, but I find that to also generally be a nothing arguement. Saying it's broken is a skill issue though.

    I cannot be the first to wonder, why does ADV not have an RU? The amount of mons on the banlist for ADV BL is super high, enough to constitute a tier on its own, yet the places they can be used - OU - aren't hospitable. I'd love to know why that's the case, and there HAS to be a good reason why it hasn't happened, I can't be the first person to think of this and someone else would certainly know why it's not feasable.
