BOMB CYCLONE causes ABSURD FLOODING and a tornado from the Carolinas to New England

- A bomb cyclone would intensify from the Gulf of Mexico, across northern Florida, and along the coastline of the Carolinas, leading to a FIRE HOSE of storms that dumped over a foot of rainfall north of Charleston, SC. A rare flash flood emergency was issued for Georgetown, and of course, Team Dominator was on the scene. A confirmed #tornado hit the north side of Myrtle Beach on the leading edge of this squall line and caused some substantial damage. I nearly intercepted this tornado, but I fell behind along Highway 17 just south of Myrtle Beach.
This nor'easter then roared through the Northeast today with life threatening flash flooding, storm surge, but very little snow on the backside. This is a textbook #ElNino - themed storm system with an active southern branch of the jet stream, and the northern branch way up in Canada.

Never Stop Chasing

Very incredible video. Hope the people are okay. I live in Florida and me and my family we're grateful that this storm wasn't as bad as it was then. It could have been worse. Stay safe, Reed and never stop chasing!
It breaks my heart to see how towns decorated for the holidays only to be flooded. Prayers going up for them 🙏🙏🙏
Reed you should look at the Rainfall event impacting Far North QLD in Australia. Upwards of 2 m (78 inches) of rain in 6 days, daily totals of 850+ mm (33 inches).
Thank you Reed and Brian!!!! Great work!
Absolutely incredible!! Amazing work as always Reed.
Thank you Reed for the great coverage, for keeping us informed and for all of your hard work and caring! Sending much love!
My power was going on and off last night here in Maryland, and the wind and rain were absolutely insane! If this was a blizzard, it would've been a total epic storm.
Live in Myrtle Beach on Palmetto Blvd, no warning on the tornado, I'm fine but know of people who lost everything. Thanks Reed, for broadcasting. Be safe
Thank you 🙏🏼 for what you do Dr. Reed❤
Having spent the majority of my life within 25 miles of the New England coast I’ve experienced many a noreaster bomb cyclone. Usually resulting in blizzard conditions this time of year. I’m living in NC now and I’m almost 200 miles from the coast by choice. I was fortunate to live in areas that seldom flooded and never severely. Many of those coastal areas flood every year at least once.
Yes the northern branch of the jet stream is way up in Canada. It looks like a pattern shift could happen in early January
Hi Reed! Thank you for your great videos and lives!
I'm glad to know that guy was okay from his SUV good video reed I'm going to go back and watch the chase from Sunday I didn't get much time to watch it after Church... keep up the good work and God bless you.
The Carolinas got the worst of it honestly Florida really got a really lucky break, heck I live in Florida and i think we got lucky
Wow incredible! I live in Southern California and I always thought that it was just the west coast that had effects from El Nino. I never knew it effected the east coast too. So this is what eventually hit NYC, I was wondering what was happening! Stay safe Reed, excelent reporting!
Reed I'm only 13 years old and I found your series tornado hunters on RUclips when I was just 11 and I've been watching your channel ever since
This thing was such a bizarre storm. Granted, the fronts of extratropical cyclones do strike Florida, I mean look at the size of those things. However, for the low-pressure core of this extratropical cyclone to form in the gulf in a manner usually seen in tropical systems, traverse directly through Florida, and then explode as it moves through the Carolinas is not something we see too often. I've sat through plenty of tropical depressions and tropical cyclones living here in Florida and I can tell you, this felt like a "cold" tropical depression. The same torrential rain, storm surges, and winds expected in a tropical storm, except it was chilly rather than hot.
We're still getting wind from this tonight outside Charlotte. I love that Reed is always where the action is!
Pressure was 28.76 in or 977.84 mbar at my house in eastern MA. A couple of possibly 70 mph wind gusts, and my neighbor’s trash barrels and lawn furniture blew into my yard.
Always new stuffs. I love the tones you used in this. 👍
Thank you Viv
Great chase, great video. Thank you Reed and Brian
These are incredible shots! Excellent! Thank you!
Awful. 🙏😢🎄I’m glad you were there seeing it all. People need to know before venturing out. Remarkable cloud video.
Just bought your merch! Love your videos. Never stop chasing!
That’s one of the coolest satellite images I’ve ever seen
I love the lightning with satellite imagery
Especially with an extra tropical cyclone like this ramping up
The news just gives little snippets. Great share, way to go storm chaser for showing the scope of the flood devastation from both close and high up.
Crazy how i was only a few counties west of all that and we had consistent rain all day sunday and a good bit of wind mainly small to medium debris but it sure was a soaker . The east coast of the Carolinas don't like a lot rain because it will usually always flood . A friend of mine just sold his wrecker down there and the guy was running tows left and right and wanted to buy his other wrecker as well . Multimillion dollar homes flooded out my friend came back from there today and said it was all messed up from the flood . Never heard anything about the weather until my friend said something and noticed reeds notification. Didnt hear anything locally from the news go figure .
Merry Christmas Reed & Courtney and Gizmo too! I’d send you Canadian mints and a case of Vernors if I had an address. My favorite things I remember of my grandparents house.
And now it’s freezing 🥶
Yes the flash freeze has arrived
Timmer boss!
It was a baby hurricane here. I live on Chincoteague and it was UGLY night. I hope we get a good drying out period ,this was a sloppy mess;/ The bay is in my front yard. I know others got it worse, but I have a leaky roof and omg, it was nasty.
Yes the impacts were like a strong tropical storm ripping up the coast
Watching from Tyler Texas. Stay safe y'all.
Poor people:/
Had to drive from Al to near the outer banks NC during all of this was a rough drive
Yes this storm system really over performed
Great video. I have to say though that I live in New England. And when we're told a huge storm is coming we do what rational New Englanders do and go and loot the grocery stores for bread and milk...and then hunker down til it's over. The middle of a flood and a huge storm is NOT the time to decide you need dog food.
And the Christmas lights still on Amazing just amazing footage
Looks a lot like the lake-effect Lake Erie streamer that pummelled Buffalo with snow last year. Great footage, especially catching the guy who owned that car. That’s some darned expensive dog food!
What’s up Reed!!!! It’s Liam!!! I thought your video to me was awesome! I really hope to see you out there one day! Merry Christmas!!!!!
Well done brother excellent video and coverage
❄️ Merry Christmas ❄️
Very scary 🫣 just Pray that people will be safe God Bless🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
God Bless you
As a fan, Reed, I do have a small question. I see that you're as passionate about the weather as I am. Which is an interest that is always fed. When did you decide you wanted to be a meteorologist and how do you feel about your success over the years?
Incredible video 😮
Wow that is crazy....and in December....I expected snow not flooding 😢😢😢
Intro maps are awesome!
"Absurd Flooding" is an appropriate description 😳
Incredible. Have a great evening reed and be safe out there.
I wasn't aware this storm system ended up being this intense. 😳
A little cold air and we would have had a mondo blizzard, but the polar jet is halfway into Canada still
@@ReedTimmerWxdefinitely the case, as we just saw the rain here near Toronto turn to snow overnight. Unseasonably warm with us being on the opposite-than-usual side of the jet stream!
Georgetown Delaware one road is flooded near where I live they closed it when I got off of work
impresive
Nice little storm you got there
Waterproof decorations
High winds and power outages in Northern Maine.
Georgetown Delaware's fire crew had to go to milford Delaware because a vehicle got stuck
Happy SnowFurfee may you have a beautiful day and all your dreams come true I wish you more great Fame Fortune
StayFurfee
Classic storm? I think we all know who controls the weather
Damn! We had a bomb cyclone in my part of the uk with 80MPH winds in November!
This one really rocked Nova Scotia as well
Un-preparedness is a mindset 😠
Here’s where all my Texas rain went.. Again! ..go east young man! And ye shall find ! ☔
Central Maine is wrecked pretty well from this. But the massive tree now across the driveway is staying there til the morning 😂
Its not even that bad in central maine. You doing to much. I live here as well.
APTTMH we got rain and wind but where I’m at no flooding!!!!
i live in new England we lost power monday not good
Man oh man 🙁
Hi Reed! SPC updated today to a slight Risk day! Your there? Or no because of christmas? Im informing a discord server every time from a Marginal to a /// risk if theres any tornado im online even at christmas....... im crazy XD
Very dramatic. Please stay safe. Always good reporting. yikes.
Why did I just get a flood earring for bear county Texas?
Dude was so lucky
He seemed in good spirits
I recently visited the holden/ myrtle beach part of north/South Carolina In late October for the first time a pretty cool place but it’s crazy how the beach’s are affected
Yes I think it’s due to the shape of the coastline up there near Myrtle
Very disappointed. Atlanta needed much more rain than we got.
Unfortunately Georgetown floods during heavy rains and high tides. It happens on a regular basis.
Yes so not surprising it flooded with the foot of rain!
The minimum threshold to cause flooding in that area was 4-8” with the soil conditions
what is best software to use when doing storm Chasers
For me I use RadarScope coupled with RAP mesoanalysis to keep track of evolving environmental conditions
@@ReedTimmerWx what was best software you have every use that never let you down
This was intesnce i have a friend who lived in batesburg shes biut an hour from mytle beach. She moved out theresome time ago to gwt away from oklahoma tornadoes. She mived after the may 2013 one that hit my city. Im sure she prolly wishes she was back here. Now that storms deginately gullywasher
🙏🙏🙏🙏
👍👍👍
Well I don't think you made it to Maine so I'll fill you in. 93 mile an hour wind. Flooding.trees down on homes an cars..power out. Ect ect.
hahahahaha That poor car has had the HAIL beat out of it.
Im saposto die from alot of tornados but i don't no when i live in superior Wisconsin tho weird no snow ❄️ i hope it doesn't happen until I'm older tho but be safe but your crazy all the storms you should should be on the weather channel lol
love the gas leak thing.....way to pick out the real danger. Like going thru a house that's been flattened by a tornado and saying...look, they have a bulb out.
Now an EV wouldn't work in this would it? Oh but it could catch fire and burn up everything around it that is.... long live the IC engine!
Nobody can see it. I can. I know why these storms are happening.
