Out of curiosity why not lay the pipe under the sidewalk before hand and build a solid base around it for the sidewalk to be formed on top of? Takes the risk out of the potential erosion or sag from the dirt?
I like to either have it below the sub base and covered up with fabric and gravel etc. or I just put a turf piece over the drain that’s accessible to lift up and check or maintain
@@23CHELMS Is it a problem to have stragnant water in the base rocks for days. My soil isnt very permeable. I remove the lawn down to 4inch and we had rain. The area is still have 2" of water after few days because the drain opening is too high. Thanks much
@@b3arwithm3 If you have clay soil like Houston does it’s the same issue here. That’s why we prefer to do the drain under the base rock. One thing to consider is the soil may have a lot of moisture in it so it’s hard to absorb any more rain. Our experience is the drain rock acts as a little retention area as it slowly seeps down
Great tip👍🏻
Thank you, hope it helps out.

I just saw this sooo sorry, that’s usually the plan but if we don’t pour the sidewalk then we can’t guarantee they will put some sleeves for us.
Do you cover the drain opening (square green gill) with the synthetic turf, in other word , the drain will be exposed or covered?

Comment is way old so my apologies. When you back fill with gravel what size are you talking? Crushed gravel, 3/4 inch etc?
Hello, no problem I’m here to help. I use 3/4” washed or you can use 3/8” or even a little bigger if necessary.
Is the drain opening flush with the grass or will be below it concealed?
On synthetic grass I do it below the grass or below the sun base is better.

hi mate,it is look like very sandy soil, the rain or water should be drain very well it self .
Here in Houston Texas, there is alot of clay which doesn't drain very well. So we like to have some extra protection
