  • QUICK VIEW OF THIS VIDEO:
    This video covers all the steps for installing a Waterform Drainage System in a backyard landscape. We excavate, prepare the soil and install step-by-step so your project can run just as smoothly as the water that now drains freely!
    We start by determining the right location for the drainage units. This was made easier by a photo from the home-owner showing how badly the water pooled up in front of the steps in her backyard. On top of this, the existing drainage PVC pipes were buried under ground with no hope of draining any water from the soil surface. Because of all this, the house foundation was at risk of becoming damaged from excessive water that didn't drain adequately as well as mold potentially affecting the inside walls. Luckily, the drainage solution we have planned worked a treat and the drainage channel was super simple to install.
    Since it was the rainy season, we quickly got to work before the next downpour, and installed two Waterform Drainage units with some PVC piping. We connected the pipes to the existing pipes using PVC glue as they were simply laying passively at the bottom of the wall, and not connected to anything.
    We repeated the same installation on the second Waterform unit and then back-filled the area using crushed gravel stones and concrete before topping off with soil and the new sod grass. Once completed, it looked like nothing ever happened in the area and we are sure no water-related issues ever will!

    This is very cool. I need to use these for my backyard to protect mystery pond which during heavy rains has all the water dump into the pond. How would you attach these togther for like a 30 foot run?

      Thanks for the great feedback. Each unit locks into the next for a straight run. Corners require a 90 degree piece which is sold separately. Send us a pic once you installed it 👍🏼

    Hi, nice video. Can I ask why you reduced the channel drain, you should of drilled a 110mm hole into the wall to get maximum drainage. Otherwise there is almost zero point to have the drain because it is barely draining anything

    • @nailandscrew6702
      @nailandscrew6702  3 года назад +1

      Great question! We used a 110mm reducer to 40mm pipe because there was the existing pipe at the bottom of the concrete wall. We tested the drainage outflow and were satisfied that it could cope with significant rains. Also it’s purpose is to divert water away from the house which pooled in this area.

    Hi! How did you guys fit the end caps with the converter?

    • @nailandscrew6702
      @nailandscrew6702  2 года назад +1

      We used the end caps to seal the unit and vented the water via a reducer unit

    Do you think you need the concrete? Would adding a little more stone and packing the soil down would keep it in place? Thanks

    • @nailandscrew6702
      @nailandscrew6702  2 года назад +1

      Hey CJ, great question! Since we do projects for clients, we ensure permanent solutions to their problem. Compared to concrete, stone with soil will likely subside and affect the drainage unit’s effectiveness - a definite NO THANKS at taking that chance. Hope that answers your Question. What can you do if the the pooling area is the lowest point of the property? It pools up on the back porch and starts to come in through the back doors

    • @nailandscrew6702
      @nailandscrew6702  2 года назад +1

      You may need to consider a pump solution to collect and redirect the water to a a higher level away from the house. Drop us some pictures either on our social media or via email and maybe we can advise better 👍🏼

      Space Viking Cowboy, I had the same issue. Bought 110mm pipes, 110m drains. We grind a line in the concrete slab and use sledge hammers to break the concrete. About a 15 -20cm wide slot. Dug a ditch going deeper has we went along to slope the water away. We connected to an existing drain but we replace the down pipe with y pipe connector.
      Not expensive but labour intensive. I got a day labourer to dig.
      When covering the ditch with concrete we slope towards the new drains and away from the house.

    Why not show drainage in action when it's raining?

    • @nailandscrew6702
      @nailandscrew6702  2 года назад +2

      We simulated the drainage by using a water hose as this was a clients property and there was no rain in sight, but good tip for next time 👍🏼

    Discuss whether installing a drainage system is a good or bad investment to have in your farm

    • @nailandscrew6702
      @nailandscrew6702  2 года назад +1

      I suppose any investment depends on return. If your drainage is an issue affecting your farm/crop, it may be well worth your while to divert and harness the excess water to re-use on the farm. Let us know how you get on 👍🏼
