SGA chocked hard last year against Minnesota in the play-in and was pretty average in the World Cup semi against Serbia. He kind of disappears in these games often, not to mention he is FT merchant and we know in the playoffs what happen to players like that when refs stop giving every ticky tack foul (Embiid, Harden). One difference could be Chet tho, that I can see pans out better for OKC.
Known for a couple of years now? Who you kidding. A couple of years ago Chet and Williams weren’t on the team. Before last year, okc shut down SGA two years in a row to tank making them one of the worst teams in the league. Last year was barely their coming out party and every analyst picked them to be a very good team this year. They are ahead of schedule because presti is a good GM. Do you feel better now that you've had your emotional outburst? Any OKC fan that has been watching games religiously, no matter their record, for at least the past 4 years saw this unfolding and isn't surprised at all. Should we maybe wait and see what actually happens when the stakes start to matter? It's incredible to me how media makes the same mistake every year. Every year we have one or two up-and-coming teams, who have a fantastic regular season, and then fail in the playoffs, but the media pushed them as favorites so in the end they "disappoint" (when in reality they were ahead of the curve). Please stop and let the kids play. They need to fail a couple of times before they are truly ready to be considered title favorites, and if you think otherwise, please name me one young team that won it all in recent memory, without first going through at least a couple of learning experiences. Go ahead, I'll wait. If anything, TWolves are higher in the pecking order, and even for them I think they need to fail at least once or twice more before they are truly ready
Luka has made four All-NBA First Teams as a guard. He averages over 8 apg for his career and is his team’s primary playmaker. Bill is hung up on traditional positional designations. The game has evolved. Any sized player can do anything now.
This is a ridiculous statement to say OKC is now a contender. After beating the Celtics (at home no less) in January, are they now the NBA champions??!!! They are a good team that is having a good streak at this moment in time. OKC has been to ONE NBA finals (2012), and don’t have much pedigree as a franchise. Calm down everyone. Let’s see how they will play in Boston Garden(no TD for me), and if they do well then you may give them their due and credit. They are maybe 3rd or 4th best team in the Western Conference. Calm down Bill. #18
You probably haven’t watched them play much this season. What happened in the past or 2012 is completely irrelevant. Moving to the present day, their performances, including several blow out wins against top teams, at their homes, with all their talent active, have been very impressive and carry significance at this point in the season for what lies ahead. In addition to several other stats and their strength of schedule. Will they win a title…idk probably unlikely, are they a title contender, a good chance at this trajectory, but again, anything can happen. The Celtics are favorite right now , but again anything can happen and to your own point. Okc is damn good this season, I’ve seen every game this year, so we’ll see how things play out.
@@jerryuma I can tell that you by your statements you are an OKC fan which is absolutely fine. However, in the NBA playoffs unless you have unbelievable talent and pedigree as a franchise, you will not get the favorable calls in the playoffs. This team with SGA and Chet Holmgren is a good story, and they play with a great deal of exuberance, and on their 33 games this season I have watched maybe 10 games which they were 7-3 (out of their 23-10 record). They are young and brash very similar to their 2012 team when KD, Westbrook and Harden were 23, 22 and 22 when they didn’t get one call in close games (such as Lebron fouling KD in game 2 or who could forget all of the missed calls against them in game 4 of that series). They are a good team, but as NBA favorite it is highly optimistic!!!!!

Jesus, they win one regular season game at home against the Celtics and now they’re title favorites 😂😂😂 sports media is in the gutter
I like how Bill Simmons points out that Daryl Morey was too in love with his own brilliance and innovation, so he broadcasted it too much.
man you did not just say the 'good' Jalen Williams, the disrespect J-Will gets is so wild, crazy to see it from somebody whose job is to talk about basketball
People are very short term reactionary
Jus the o es that can sell it
70% of sports commentary is "very short term reactionary." That's the point. What's what people enjoy talking about - was is happening right now. We know it can change. We know there are other contenders.
@@johnray527not all of it is clickbait though. Did you read the title?
When will Bill and Zach get better webcams? They are currently using a potato
9:30 he on canada tv that's why you don't see it
number #1 ball handler…. Bill Simmons.
Loves the nuts, I mean balls. I mean Lebron.
OKC a lot like the Grizzlies last year.
Not even close 😂😂😂
And I’m an okc fan
Bill putting curry above Kobe all time is one of his worst takes of all time
Bill putting LeBron over Kobe is his worst take of all-time.
Both statements above are true
So rude to Jaylin Williams to say he's just not the good Jalen Williams
It’s not rude at all lol. J Dub is clearly many levels above him. They’re both in the nba. They’re both some of the best basketball players on the planet. Stop getting offended on someone else’s behalf.
nah im offended on my own behalf as an arkansas fan@@mikeposner8563
SGA chocked hard last year against Minnesota in the play-in and was pretty average in the World Cup semi against Serbia. He kind of disappears in these games often, not to mention he is FT merchant and we know in the playoffs what happen to players like that when refs stop giving every ticky tack foul (Embiid, Harden). One difference could be Chet tho, that I can see pans out better for OKC.
Steph over Kobe is criminal on so many levels
All these Jonny come lately folks....welcome to the show. OKC fans have known this for a couple of years now. It's just the Presti plan unfolding.
But don’t act like ppl are band wagoning now.
Do you feel better now that you've had your emotional outburst? Any OKC fan that has been watching games religiously, no matter their record, for at least the past 4 years saw this unfolding and isn't surprised at all. Chet was an unknown entity until this year and we still knew Presti would fill that role whether it was Chet or someone else. I'm not talking records...I'm talking watching every actual game and seeing what you got, seeing the culture, the chemistry and the potential. Not my fault if you don't have the skillset or the time invested as a fan to see these things happening in real time and have to wait until Bill Simmons tells you it's happening. Either way there's plenty of room for new fans so welcome to the bandwagon. @@josec2219
Chet is way better than I thought he was gonna be anytime soon. And Shai is mvp caliber. But healthy Nuggets will still beat them. And I think Boston & Philly would beat them in a 7 game series
You've got to add the Bucks to that list. OKC's real weakness is dealing with size and strength up front and the Bucks have plenty of that.
I doubt Philly, as currently constructed, would beat OKC in a 7 game series 💯
Chet is the best shot blocker since Akeem. I agree with you. I had no idea he was this good.
@@Gnofg ??? Wemby averages more blocks per game and has a higher block rate than Chet. And… Dikembe Mutombo never played?
@@jdankerdake I meant with offense. DiKembe had no offense.
I was driving one day and DiKembe was right next to me in his Mercedes. He was driving from the back seat.
Who will you trade to NY for Hartenstein? It can't be Josh Giddey. He is not a Knicks type of player.
Completely off topic, but can we talk about what’s up with Lillard 👀 he’s been absolutely horrible this season. His shooting numbers are horrendous and he’s getting cooked in defence every possession
You're cherry picking, this is simply not true outside of the first 10 games of the season on a brand new team
He’s at his career average with slightly lower efficiency. He’s always been bad defensively.
@@jdankerdake ur not watching games. He looks disengaged and most his points are from FTs. He’s not finishing at the rim like he used to, he’s not as explosive either.
@@jamesh7469 ur a causal go look at his game log right now. He’s shot under 45% in the last 8/15 games. Under 45% is horrendous for half ur games played in a month.
Bill can't get through 10 minutes without talking about all time rankings and current rankings of players.
From no playoffs to title favorites, has it ever been done?
If you Yankees need someone to stop SGA, just call Aleksa Avramovic!
Shiitt just make a lauri + clarkson trade and go all in.
Thank you Scott Perry for selecting Kevin Knox over SGA, then Obi Toppin over TyreseHalliburton. Cry😢
I can live with missing Halliburton, but SGA hurts 😢
Just throwing it out there, they remind me of the 94 hornets.
Give credit to COACH. Mike is proven himself as a top 5 coach in the league.
It's Mark...

Shae is the MVP so far ... end of story
Clippers are legit 💯
An OKC fan since KD so I have a little experience. By the way Shai is the featured model on the $4 billion Kardashian underwear. He is everywhere on the ads. Watch out for Chet as he puts on weight. He is never satisfied and don’t write off Giddey. Same reason.
OKC is getting the same attention ORL got after they beat BOS. There is no way they get to the finals
why are we doing this - bill dont need this clickbait
They must not know who Andrew Schlecht is
Thank you Zach for keeping Bill in check lol.
Bill- I’m thinking he’s making a case of the best coach in the league
Zach- 🤢 don’t do that lol 😂. Dudes nowhere near that right now Bill chill.
😂
Hey Bill...If Luka isnt a guard then neither was Magic
He's just so wrong on this and it's funny lol
Luka has made four All-NBA First Teams as a guard. He averages over 8 apg for his career and is his team’s primary playmaker. Bill is hung up on traditional positional designations. The game has evolved. Any sized player can do anything now.
Nope. Their youth and inexperience will hurt them in the playoffs. They have no idea the plethora of strange and intense scenarios which arise.
