    I will never understand how people say someone has an "off night" when they were being defended well, all game. People say defense isn't a thing, but when good defenders harass and defend well, it's, "ah man, if this guy just didn't have an off night, we could have won!" Instead of ,"man, the other team just played good defense." It happens all the time. Both of these teams are great defensive teams. Let's give them props for their defense instead of claiming someone just "wasn't feeling confident in their shot." I'm sure JB will happen to find confidence in his shot playing against the Jazz on Friday...

    • @chili015
      @chili015 Год назад +3

      Here's why: When a player is a max contract guy because he has great-to-elite offense, that player figures out how to score while being defended really tough. Jalen Brown should not be locked down by good defense and some of the threes he missed were very makeable. So yes, great defense was played, but it was also still an off-night.

    • @paulalger10

      Brown does not have elite offense...@@chili015

    • @andrewbryan434
      @andrewbryan434 Год назад +3

      @chili015 But when a player is taking a contested shot after a contested shot and rightfully missing them, you should say that the other team took the player's confidence instead of the player just not having it this night. I can see after going 3/12 not having confidence in your shot, and that's why a player is missing open ones. Bad shooting nights happen, but using that as a catchall excuse every time someone has a poor game is disingenuous to the sport and the players.

    • @chili015
      @chili015 Год назад +3

      @@andrewbryan434 - I'll put it a different way, then... good offense always beats good defense in the NBA. Jalen Brown faces tough defenses all the time and he always draws the #1 defender when he's on the floor and Tatum's on the bench. It's fine to give the defender credit, but with Brown's offensive skill set, it's an off night. Good scorers always find ways to get their points no matter who is guarding them.

    • @truth3412
      @truth3412 Год назад

      Na they didnt play great defense on brown. Brown played terrible. He took bad shots. And turned it over with no pressure from the defense. Alot of the shots he missed were layups and open threes.

I think most of it has to do with what they ask of him on the defensive end... not only is his assignment constantly changing he's always fighting through and over screens. I think his legs are paying the price on the offensive end you can see it in his lift off and how often he front rims bunnies.

    SGA seems to have the same sort of trickle down effect that the Joker has, I.e. the entire team even the second unit, seems smarter, passes better, etc. Shai doesn’t look spectacular (he is!) doing what he does, so teammates think “hey, I could do that too” (they can’t) and it stretches their game and court IQ. I think the Thunder are a piece or two away from making the finals. The rumored Markkanen trade sounds shrewd, so long as they don’t give up any of their top 8, just picks.

    Tatum is still better than SGA. His versatility on both sides of the ball is the main reason. this allows a team to deploy a wider variety of schemes in the playoffs when teams are rly playing chess -
    offensively tatum is a better shooter from 3. tatum is a better screener. tatum is a better offensive rebounder. all of that makes him better off ball than shai. on top of that his physical stature creates more mismatches that teams are forced to address w a double
    defensively he can guard 1-4 at an elite level and even some centers. he rebounds better than shai. better rim deterrent. overall better defender clearly.
    you saw part of the effect of his versatility in this game. guarded chet well and then towards the end of this game shuts shai down when his all defensive team teammates couldnt get it done. its the reason they came back from down 18 and almost pulled off the come back

      we dont even have to talk abt the defensive end...stops n turnovers on that end reinforce his transition attack and emphasize points I made earlier

    Tatum is a great player but I just don’t think u can win the title with him as ur closer and best offensive player. He just gets big dogged by all the other superstars consistently in big games. At what point do we just say he doesn’t have the dog. I think the Celtics would be better if they acknowledged this and built a team around him where he doesn’t have to close big games. Like what the bucks did getting dame so Giannis’s offensive limitations aren’t the focus late in games.

      @AlanMane Год назад +2

      Wait… does the 2021 run not do anything for him? I remember him being incredibly clutch against bucks, especially game 6 on the road. Yes, he collapsed in the finals but I think the narrative of him not being a dawg is overblown. Ive seen him be clutch in big moments

      @@AlanMane he had a great game 6 but everybody who watched that series saw Gianni’s be far and away the best player in the series. With Giannis at that level there is no way the Celtics beat a healthy bucks team that year. People forget Middleton did not play a single game in that series and it still went 7. Tatum can close games when he has an overwhelming talent advantage,but he is bad at getting the team into their offense late in games and makes poor decisions, takes terrible threes when he is by the numbers the worst high volume pull-up three point shooter in the league. He makes poor rim decisions late in games and does not see the floor well to give his team matchup advantages. The numbers bear this out as he has been a poor clutch player over the past couple of years. I genuinely like Tatum game I just don’t trust him in big spots against other great players.

      I swear to God yall just say anything you feel. How is he always getting big dogged by other superstars when in his career hes only lost to Lebron, Giannis, KD/Kyrie/harden, Jimmy Butler and steph....but hes also beaten Giannis 2x and Embid 3x. You literally making shit up. Yes tatum didnt play well to his standards in the Finals. He still averaged 22/7/7. This comment is nonsensical if you make it to the finals and multiple conference finals as the #1 option. Noone thought lebron was ever gonna win until he did. Same thing for steph. Same thing for kobe and shaq. Same thing for jordan. But you dont just come out of nowhere, you gotta keep knocking at the door.

    This was a big game. A statement game and the Celtics are a big franchise with a seasoned contending team. At what point is Boston looking at Brown ?
    Tatum is uber talented and skilled, he s not a killer. You can‘t afford Brown to earn this money and float around so often. When the war gets hot, i trust Horford and White to come through on the Celtics

    As much hype sports media praises the Celtics they have 1 title in 35yrs
    The Milwaukee bucks and raps have as many titles as this historic franchise is being praised the last 35yrs. The most overrated overhyped franchise ever in the last 35yrs. Sports media as much as they talk Celtics ball and jerk off to Tatum is embarrassing.
