What a creative idea! Love this quilt. The bright colors are very appealing, and using them against the newsprint background is fabulous. If I haven’t seen this tutorial, I would have used a clear white or black background. But the newsprint does make it look like spilt paint. Genius! Thanks !
Hay Rob, this is really cool. I had 3 people pop into mind as soon as I seen this was a quilt and not someone messed up your wall. LOL.. And this will be sew EZ and quick to do, I can zip one done between taking a brake from a quilt that makes me want to pull my hair out over. LOVE this idea.. and for sure am going to be making a few. THANKS.
I would LOVE more videos on how to use technology with crafting. That would be amazing. I am a multi crafter. I use my cross stitch design software for making quilt designs, as well as graphs for my crocheting. I also use a quilting program for making paper piecing patterns for image quilts. I love the idea of how you doodled and turned it into your applique patterns. And the idea of doodling your free motion has me inspired. I really hope the back of that quilt is black. Would love to see the stitching pop on the solid color.
I've used Microsoft Access to catalog my embroidery designs, quilt patterns, sewing patterns, etc. My iPad has a visual 'scrapbook' of my completed projects. My iPad has a library of RUclips vids (hello, Man Sewing!) so they are portable. I've got an external Tb drive with my crafty stuff. I LOVE technology! The pen to draw FM quilting idea makes me want to get a pen. Would LOVE to see more ideas!
I have been using the concepts app, it was a game changer when I first started machine quilting! I took a picture of the block and then practiced my design right on each block! Thanks for sharing all that you do!
I love technology! So, all the techno tutorials you can make will be awesome!! My husband just had a state-of-the-art garage built so am going to make him a paint drip wall hanging.
Just recently learned to use photo filters to examine the values of my fabric. Super useful and would love more tips like the one you've shown here. Love this imaginative design.
Dude! Using the tablet to audition FMQ designs is GENIUS! I always struggle with coming up with FMQ ideas beyond an all over pattern. I know this is going to help me tremendously in upping my skills and creativity!!
Rob! I'm super inspired! I just bought a light tablet for even more ideas. It's great for overlay tracings so I can change one layer of design at a time. It's so nice to be able to move images around while the under layers stay in place.
I just got an iPad with pencil and am doing the same type of activities that you are doing, Rob. I have even been attempting some graffiti quilting designs too.
Love the idea of using the tablet to audition quilting designs. Thanks a lot, Rob! Now, I going to be yearning for a tablet I can draw on! Keep up the good work. Love your videos
Such a GREAT idea. A really cute quilt. I am trying to learn to make one. I think it’s extremely interesting how u said u draw your designs using your table. Would like to learn more about that!! Thanks so much for your videos. 🤩
This is a fun project, I want to make one too! Only change is I would trim the 5x10 pieces down to 5x9.5 so they line up better with the two 5" squares unit. I can see the extra 1/2" hanging off the block at 3:16. Rob can probably handle the excess no problem but knowing me I would find a way to add unnecessary fullness to my quilt with that extra 1/2".
Fabulous! I am going to use the smaller size for an artists bag tomorrow, to make as a present for Christmas. Thank you for the marvellous inspirational video. Look forward to the next one!
I love this! The pieced newsprint background is genius! I use my DSLR camera to take pictures of my projects as well. Sometimes I use blank pieced patterns and colour them in to audition layouts. I've made applique patterns and printed them, too. When I have a lot of blocks or pieces on the design wall and I'm rearranging them, I take pictures so I can see better where things are too close or what needs to be moved, if there is too much dark or light in one place, and when I take the final picture, I can tell that's exactly what I want before joining the blocks/pieces. I'd love to see more of what you do with technology, however, I only have a regular printer and I'm not sure how I'd print big pieces to size. Maybe you can teach us how to put a bit design into PDF so we can print it on a regular 8.5 by 11 sheet and then tape it together or something? A lot of pattern companies do that, but I've never seen anywhere how to arrange a PDF like that. Thanks, Rob! Oops, forgot to mention, I do have a "Ruby beholder" that I use to tell what fabrics are light, medium and dark before I even cut them, which helps with making the blocks and combining fabrics, too. Same thing as taking a picture after the fact, but I like to check before I start :D
Love it! It reminds me of one of the first projects I saw you do, which was the tiger and the tree frog appliqué quilt. I love mine. Thanks. I look forward to seeing more of your projects and how you use technology in quilting.
Recently I used a program for making cross stitching patterns in order to make a quilt design. I also take photos of my fabrics and use a drawing program that allows me to work in layers to do a layout. This has been especially helpful for planning out bargello designs so I can play around with different looks before making any commitments.
I love using technology for my quilting. I especially enjoy using a design program (EQ8) to design and color my quilts. It allows me to play with the colors before I ever commit to fabric. Even if I'm using a purchased pattern, I will usually copy it into the program so I can play the colors.
Yes, please, show more of how to mix technology into our projects.I has been a while since my last computer class. I would love recommendations on computer classes to refresh my memory if you have any also.
I definitely have to make this quilt!!! But I will do it as a wall hanging. I recently redid my quilt room and haven't hung anything up on the walls. This would make a great splash of color on white walls. Perfect!!! No, I don't use tech in quilting -- never thought about it actually. But I would love to hear what tablet you are using and how you go about getting ideas (especially for this quilt!). Great tutorial as always, but can you please do a 'part 2' of this one with more detail on the quilting aspects and more up close shots too. It would be really neat to see more of the thread paint dribbles.
Would really like to see how you use the pen on the ipad and how you go about printing it out, sizing, etc., You explain things really well!!!! Thank you.
ROB, I have this idea for making this quilt even more amazing. Could you make a chameleon at the bottom of the dripping colors using a hand painted fabric with the colors dripping on him ? I think it would be a great picture. If not a chameleon then a puddle of the dripping colors. I’m considering experimenting with this.
GENIUS!!! Luuuove this quilt and your aMAZing design insights!!! 👏😍👏 Re: technology applications - I would be grateful to learn from you how to use tech more creatively, especially in appliqué, but also other quilting applications.
I use my ipad to take photos of my layout, then change the photo to mono or noir to see where the dark/light/mediums might distract .. just an fyi thing .. and gday from Australia 🇦🇺
I use Electric Quilt software. I can go to the fabric manufacturer website and download the exact fabric so i know what the quilt will look like before i even cut the fabric. I can also use it to audition quilting designs
Lovely quilt! I use Adobe Illustrator for my quilt design since that's what I use for work (graphics design). Btw, theoretically the color order in a rainbow is purple-blue-green-yellow-orange-red.
Love the quilt. Bit of a tech geek here, so would love to know what programs you use. Also, part 2 to show more of the quilting you did. I am just getting started with machine quilting.
I LOVE this quilt and seriously considering to sew it. I do have a question that would be VERY helpful... How wide are the stripls for the different paints? Thanks in advance!
I just love your work! What program did you use on your tablet? I have been looking at many apps but not sure which is the best one. I have the iPad 12 pro with the pen. You are an amazing inspiration to me and I have been learning through you!
Yes, I would love to hear about how you use your technology. I use android in my phone and tablet. Can you tell me what program and if it was an android app that you used to create this beautiful quilt. Plus can you yell me where you got the newspaper print material please. Any links you can share? Thank you :)
I just watched this video with the sound completely turned down (hubby is watching The Santa Claus and he has “clicker” priority :-) and it was even informative without hearing your energy Rob. I would love to see a video on how to do the same quilt only using reverse appliqué.
I have been trying to find the tutorial from an episode. It was some time ago. It was a spaceship that looked like a sewing machine. Does anyone remember what it was called?
What a creative idea! Love this quilt. The bright colors are very appealing, and using them against the newsprint background is fabulous. If I haven’t seen this tutorial, I would have used a clear white or black background. But the newsprint does make it look like spilt paint. Genius! Thanks !

I love the small rotary cutter!

Very nice video. My son is getting one of these for Christmas. He has a wood heater and this is perfect for him. Thank you very much for this.
I love your show you are so easy to follow and understand.
Yes, please share more technology in future. This was a fantastic quilt, feels like i can do anything and everything.
Oooh, using the tablet to audition applique and quilting is BRILLIANT!! Why didn't I think of that??? You rock!
Thank you for watching!
I'm glad you talked more about the shark... some quilters have never heard of it! I want one SO BAD!
I've used Microsoft Access to catalog my embroidery designs, quilt patterns, sewing patterns, etc. My iPad has a visual 'scrapbook' of my completed projects. Thank you for sharing your time & talents w/us😀! You are smart & fun! Mary🍀 (Senior Citizen)
Really beautiful and a labor of love

I'm not using technology except to get patterns. I love seeing different ideas for it. thanks for your videos
My daughter is a painter. I would love to create something like bccv this for her. Thanks for sharing. Brilliant idea.
I like your creativity, so inspiring
Dude! Using the tablet to audition FMQ designs is GENIUS! I always struggle with coming up with FMQ ideas beyond an all over pattern. I know this is going to help me tremendously in upping my skills and creativity!!
Wow! I lovethisquilt. Thank you so much Rob.
Hi Rob, I do love the tablet idea. Not a huge free motion quilter yet, however, I always get inspiration from everyone's different methods.
Thank-you!
The newsprint under color splashes is genius
Beautiful work!
I would love to hear more about how you use tech for your ideas. You are awesome.
Rob! I'm super inspired! I just bought a light tablet for even more ideas. It's great for overlay tracings so I can change one layer of design at a time. It's so nice to be able to move images around while the under layers stay in place.
Firstly, that’s a beautiful quilt. Secondly, I would love to see the different ways you use your technology in your quilting
I just got an iPad with pencil and am doing the same type of activities that you are doing, Rob. I have even been attempting some graffiti quilting designs too.
What a great idea. I love mixed media with technology. Thanks again.
Love the idea of using the tablet to audition quilting designs. Thanks a lot, Rob! Now, I going to be yearning for a tablet I can draw on! Keep up the good work. Love your videos

Yes please technology share!! lol. Love this tutorial. SUPER cute.
Fabulous! I am going to use the smaller size for an artists bag tomorrow, to make as a present for Christmas. Thank you for the marvellous inspirational video. Look forward to the next one!
Wow what a gorgeous quilt!
You are a real artist. You create!
I love your ideas! I love to see the processes you use to create. So I would really like to see more!
Another great video, Rob! I'm always excited to see what you have in store for us!
I'm definitely doing this quilt!
Awesome! We can't wait to see it

I've thought about doing something similar but on a much smaller scale. I LOVE your videos, keep them coming!!!!!

My husband has a 3D printer and I have had him print shapes for me to use in quilting designs.
Amei a criatividade, ficou muito lindo! Amazing❣️😍
What a wonderful idea....thank you. So no I haven't yet
Love the videos and would enjoy more technology in the process.
I use my camera, my computer, to design applique for my quilting
ROB,
I have this idea for making this quilt even more amazing.

Yes to technology. 😁
Great idea on how to use technology to audition machine quilting.
Yes please would like to know more about your idea of using technology with free motion quilting thank you
I use my ipad to take photos of my layout, then change the photo to mono or noir to see where the dark/light/mediums might distract .. just an fyi thing .. and gday from Australia 🇦🇺
I use Electric Quilt software. I can go to the fabric manufacturer website and download the exact fabric so i know what the quilt will look like before i even cut the fabric. I can also use it to audition quilting designs
Looks like real paint.
Great tutorial again. I would like to use the available technology in my quilting
I would love to see more videos on using tech. with quilting. I'd love to know what kind of tablet you were working on. Loved the quilt!!
I love using the app called procreate on my iPad Pro. It’s great for pattern design, color choices, adding photos etc
Would love to see technology classes on how you use the ipad, software, etc on designing quilts and creating patterns. Thanks
Lovely quilt! I use Adobe Illustrator for my quilt design since that's what I use for work (graphics design). Btw, theoretically the color order in a rainbow is purple-blue-green-yellow-orange-red.
I'd love to know more about using technology in my quitling
Yes! Please share more of how you use technology. Is that just a regular iPad and pencil you are using? Or a pro model?
Love Love your graphic tee shirts, are they for sale somewhere?
Love the quilt. Bit of a tech geek here, so would love to know what programs you use. Also, part 2 to show more of the quilting you did. I am just getting started with machine quilting.
I LOVE this quilt and seriously considering to sew it. I do have a question that would be VERY helpful... How wide are the stripls for the different paints? Thanks in advance!

What program did you use on your tablet?
I have been looking at many apps but not sure which is the best one. I have the iPad 12 pro with the pen.
You are an amazing inspiration to me and I have been learning through you!
Rob's favorite apps to draw with his iPad are Adobe Draw and Vectanator!
Yes, I would love to hear about how you use your technology. I use android in my phone and tablet. Can you tell me what program and if it was an android app that you used to create this beautiful quilt. Plus can you yell me where you got the newspaper print material please. Any links you can share? Thank you :)
so very cool as usual. no i don't use much tech. don't know much. if you can explain would like to know more.
What batting do you use
What did you use for the back of the quilt?
Most of Rob's quilts have a solid fabric as backing to help show off the quilting.
What size is the quilt on wall? Since don't free motion, I would have my long armer do the quilting.
Yes more tech please
Do you have any drunkard path shows and also where can I get instructions and fabric for your other projects?
I have that little cutter and once you use it you will wonder how you did without it.
Susan where did you buy it from?
@@tstasey Missouri Star Quilt Company. They also sell the replacement blades
Susan yep! I spoke without looking there 1st. Already ordered it so it’ll come in handy when I need it. Thanks for you reply :)
@@tstasey You are welcome. Merry Christmas!!
