I have admired the Color Strata Quilt from your other videos but I can say you blew my mind when you showed the variations. Wow! They are all beautiful. I love your videos. Also your maintenance video saved me a trip to the repairman. Thank you.
The Strata tutorial is probably my favorite, because it's one I have been thinking of challenging myself with. But first I need a super cape, from an earlier tutorial you did. I love the fun involved in sewing with you Rob!
I decided at the age of 60+ to take up Quilting, and never learning to sew before now, Quilting has been a challenge (in a good way). Rob's tutorial on this strata quilt looks like something I can make. I've made a few lap quilts, mini quilts, and Christmas stockings, but making this colorful strata quilt is something I'm looking forward to. Rob's tutorials are usually very easy to follow, resulting in lovely finished products.
I love how this quilt goes together. Rob you are the most energetic quilt instructor I have ever seen. You inspire me to keep buying material and making everything I can. Thank You.
I love this quilt! I was in your class where we were guinea pigs for your pattern at the Quilter's Affair in Sisters a couple years ago! I made mine with red white & blue, and yellow, green and purple, and it turned out beautiful. I gave it to my daughter and she calls it her "Rainbow" Quilt! Thanks Rob for the fun tutorials!
This quilt is so cool! I love that there is not a lot of cutting different shapes. It also allows for personal perspective and creativity. Thank you for sharing your ideas. Can't wait to get your new book!
I love this quilt. I am making one using all those batik jelly rolls that I have been hoarding. I also love the enthusiasm that you have for trying new things. All your tutorials are easy to follow and replicate. Thanks.
This quilt is such a striking visual and it works in so many color combinations. Thanks for sharing the how to. I've got some jelly rolls to play with now!
This is absolutely beautiful , I am a new quilter and became interested for an artistic expression. Than goodness I paid attention way back when my Mother taught me to sew. Thanks Mom.....and Man Sewing of course!
I've made a couple of watercolor quilts and really want to try one of these color strata quilts! I love having lots of color in my projects.Thank you so much for the directions!
One of my daughters prefers the contemporary motif. We worked on this pattern and she was very happy with the outcome. It hangs in her foyer adding much needed color and decor.
Absolutely gorgeous! I know this was a highly requested tutorial! And your explanation demonstrated very clearly how to create your varied size strata stacks for sewing. Can't wait to give this a try! Thanks for another awesome sauce video!
I love this quilt and the colors are awesome , your directions are very good... I am not a beginner but if I was I could really understand what to do , you are an awesome teacher..........
A beautiful quilt. It has inspired me to use some "wild" batiks I've. Had in my stash for a long time. I'm going to mini size your idea for several art pieces to wall hang! Thanks.
This is one of my favorites, that I come back to because of the coloring and pattern. The Color Strata Quilt is on my bucket list of quilts to make, and maybe share! Thanks for your great videos.
I've been admiring this Strata Quilt while watching your other great tutorials. Love this one! Thank you for making this tutorial with the added combinations at the end. I thought I liked the black background because it is so rich, now I think I might like to try one others. Great tutorial!
This is by far my most favoritest (yes, it's a word haha) Man Sewing tutorial of all time - so far. Beautiful with so many color options. Keep on keeping on Rob. We love you!
I'm already subcribed to Man Sewing and I just love the Strata Quilt. I want to use bright colors like purple, orange and lime green. And As Jenny would say "wouldn't that be darling?". Can't wait to get my fabrics together.
Love this quilt!! And your tutorial is easy to understand and follow. I have the perfect fabric for this that I've been saving- now it's time to make something beautiful! Love your enthusiasm- it always makes me want to jump right into a new project after I watch one of your videos!!
Awesome. Do you make sure to alternate stitching direction of rows so that it is not likely to bend? In a normal Bargello type quilt I've heard that is a useful tip.
I wasn't sure I liked this. I still don't like it. I LOVE IT! I have to try it! I really like all the different ways to make these quilts. My list of Quilts To Make is growing longer and longer, but it keeps me out of trouble. For the most part anyway! Keep up the fantastic work so I don't run out of projects.
+Man Sewing I just spent my Christmas money over at Missouri Star Quilt Company. I ordered your Color Strata book, the fabric you used in this video and a few more items for some other projects I want to make. You and Jenny Doan have created a monster.......ME!!! I used to make quilts 100% by hand, no sewing machine involved. Do you know how LONG that took??? Thanks to you and Jenny, I can now do the quilts on my machine(s)!!! I have over 200 sewing machines to choose from because my husband collects and restores them. (He's retired and this hobby keeps him out of trouble! He's even in a documentary about Vintage Sewing Machines called "Still Stitching"!) One of my fave machines is a Singer Fiddle Base treadle from 1889. I get my exercise while I'm sewing!
Happy New Year Rob. Thanks for the awesome year of fabulous ManSewing vidz. Looking forward to the new year of more NanSewing projects. Happy New Year to you a the MS company and you family.
wonderful. WONderful. WONDERFUL! Thank you sooo much for sharing your artistry. Cannot WAIT to receive your book, and I intend to watch this superb tutorial three or four more times :). Exhilarating application of the strata format!
Hi Rob! I think that might be the world's skinniest coin quilt... I have something for you to come up with next and that is, cutting curvy strips from fat quarters and making landscape looking strata! :D
I am making a king size quilt for my grandson who is 6'3". I wish I had seen this first. I'm doing Summer in the Park with Black in place of the white. Very difficult for my first quilt. I look forward to watching your videos. By the way I couldn't afford the plastic 45 degree so I made my own from plastic I had here.
I have been holding my breath for this tutorial! I can hardly wait to get started. I am purchasing your book along with the fabric but not sure how many jelly rolls for a lap/twin and how much black fabric so I can order it all at the same time. Love Man Sewing!
Hi Rob, thank you very much for coming up with this awesome Strata quilt design! My "artistic" nephew is absolutely going to love this in his room. What is the size of this quilt once it is finished?
+Jason Becker generally 2 bundles of 2.5 inch strips will make a queen! Quarter inch seam allowances make a world of difference if they are too big or too small though!
Just seeing this and started quilting. Awesome quilt and instructions. Did /I miss something with the black background fabric? Did you cut three sized strips of black and sew or did you appliqué your color strips on?
Not only is this beautiful it is amazing. I am curious have you tried it on a diagonal? I love trying new things. And this is one I would love to try. I will have to look for your book. I have to admit this is the first time I have heard of your videos but I am hooked.
