    I think people get wrapped up in a lot of the cool new stuff that comes out and just forget that many older camera are still a viable option. Before covid, I was a college sports photographer using Nikon D5, D4s, D850 and would occasionally rent out 1dxm2 and 5dm4 since my personal gear was Canon. These older pro DSLR are amazing cameras that many professionals are still relying on daily and are now floating around at really good prices on the used market.

    I have had the 1D Mark III, the 1D Mark IV, the 1D X, the EOS R, and now since a couple of months the 1D X Mark II, and it's the best body ever, i find the photo and video quality is better then the EOS R, so have fun with it !🍻

    Greetings from Sydney! Congratulations on your 1DX2 Chris, it is an amazing hybrid camera. I have had mine since Feb 2018 when I bought it new, and it is as good now as it was then. Ignore the naysayers… not all pixels are born equal. This is a true pro hybrid (and of course it is actually mirrorless when used for video). Don’t waste too much time with the 120p in HD, where the video shines is in DCi 4K at 59.94p and 23.98p. The high bitrate of the oft criticised MJPEG video makes for amazing quality with minimal need for grading. When I bought mine it was hard to find a Mac that could handle it (which is why many of your favourite RUclipsrs back in the day defaulted to the softer HD!), but now multiple DCi 4K tracks run fine on any M1 to higher Mac or iPad. As for action photography, sports and wildlife it is unsurpassed by anything (other than the Mark III). Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions… and well done in the sudden uplift in views, it shows there is still a lot of interest in true pro gear. Enjoy.🎬🎥📸

    I bought a 1DX mk.1 earlier this year for about $700 U.S. It was fabulous & I loved the 18MP files from it, but it was too large & heavy for my use, so I replaced it with a 5D3. The 5D3 is great, but I do miss the creamier looking files from the 1DX & the double CF slots.

    God lord, 1DX Mark II is one of the most influential camera in video space (atleast in travel category) i still kinda dreamt of having one now despite i can get better video result with less money with XT3 etc, and knowing how cumbersome it is to use 1DX II nowadays (no wifi, no flip screen, big video bitrate), but i still can imagine its a breeze to use, unfortunately its still sold at a very high price at my country.

    Hello Chris, congrats on your video and your channel keep up the good work!. I want to share my 2 cents regarding the 1DX Mark II camera as a photographer. As a photography camera I want to tell you that this camera is great and it one of the complete photographic cameras out there alongside the Nikon D5 (which came out the same year 2016 as the 1DX Mark II). What is very important is to understand that these cameras are top of the line cameras for speed and press photography. The scope of this camera is to assure the photographer that you have the maximum possible photo quality, ISO speed and autofocus. These two types of "press" cameras will allow you take the photos and give your photos to the client or newspaper on the same day, if you set the correct settings these cameras will give you straight out of them the perfect jPEGs -> that doesn't mean you can't use the raw files, you can edit the raw files however you like. The price of these cameras new were aprox 6000 $ and at that price point you get everything you need at a camera except one factor that some photographers may need which is resolution. These "press" cameras give you outstanding battery life, robustness, world class weather sealing, world class autofocus tracking and autofocus precision and burst capabilities, ISO speed and customization of everything from the camera. The resolution of 20mpx it is something very unique to these two types of camera. It is widely regarded and known scientifically that the 35mm digital sensor produces the best optimal quality of pictures between 12 and 21Mpx -> or maybe pushed to 24Mpx. At this size of the sensor 35mm engineers can make the pixels as big enough to produce great images between 12 and 21mpx and to get great colors and the famous "3D pop". Beyond the 24mpx and this is my personal opinion and experience through the years using different resolution cameras things get "difficult" lets say. At beyond 24 Mpx, lets say 30mpx, 45mpx, 50mpx, etc you need astonishing great lenses to produce sharp images because optical engineers need to design the lenses to cope with the higher resolution, second most important issue is you need to have very sturdy hands because every tiny camera shake will be projected and captured on the high resolution sensor.
    I personally use this camera at weddings, baptism, parties, graduations, coming of age parties with the Canon 24-70 f/2.8L Mark II lens and with the Canon 600 EX RT Mark II flash and this combo is very reactive and good, with the 24-70 f/2.8 Mark II lens you can capture everything fast an reactive and you can change fast and reactive between focal length, I mainly use this lens at maximum wide apertures opened f/2.8 to have some background books and its absolutely great.
    Besides this lens I also have the Canon 85mm f/1.4L IS and the Canon 135mm f/2L lens but you can get the 85mm f/1.2L Mark II which is also great. And I am using these lens at photo sessions at maximum wide aperture and it is absolutely great. If you have these 3 lenses or at least the 24-70 f/2.8 Mark II and the 85 or 135 and the 600 ex rt flash then you are a complete wedding photographer. Pragmatically with these 3 lenses and with this body you can do any type of events. I am also using the 135mm f/2 lens for certain dynamic / sports projects.
    I wish you good luck with your new camera, It is very great and you will definitely grow as a photographer with it in the years to come!
    Let me know what are your thoughts

    Back. in the '90s I only purchased new heavy-duty gear that will work in inclement weather. I started noticing a trend, fellow photographers were buying gear based on the manufacturer's circles. I hope that if a new camera comes out they will purchase it, thus selling their camera at a great discount. From that point forward I waited until the bugs were worked out on the new gear along with a price reduction. I have a 1 D M4 as a back up to my 1DX MK II. Nice video!

  • @NoName-jq7tj
    @NoName-jq7tj 7 месяцев назад

    This camera will work. It’s excellent. I think the question is how does it corresponds with other technologies in 2023 & onwards. In the film days it didn’t matter. There wasn’t a connection with a camera body & your trays in the darkroom or what printing paper one uses. With a modern camera it really depends how it work with a computer or memory cards etc… Things are very interconnected.

    I have seen and heard a 1DXM??? in 2018 during a bear-watching photography trip in Finland. I've wanted it ever since. I had a 60D. I now own a 5dm4 and some 7dm2. Mirrorless is not my favorite today. I was looking for a faster full frame camera like the 5dm4, especially for Icehockey. Now I'm the proud owner of a 1dxm - not an m2 - but who cares? I am more than happy with the results. The AF is brilliant and my hold rate has gone from 10% to just over 20%. I like the sound and also the weight because I'm a big guy. It is definitely worth buying a used device in 2023/2024. 450-600€ is nothing. In 5 years I will examine the mirrorless market. By then the price trend will have cooled down and the technology will be much better than it is now. Hopefully 😂

    Compact and solid, the Sony a7ii, a7r ii, and my Canon 1D mk4, 1DX comes to me tomorrow. I have wanted it since introduction or a Nikon D4, but I have all Canon 1DX coming. I wanted the mk.ii but I assesed my needs, and 1DX family is famous for sports freelancers, and sports, and News Pros. I have the Panasonic AG-UX90 4K camcorder, and a Canon C100 cine camcorder. All save the Panny shoot Canon EF glass. Even my squirt a6400. It is systems, and what you do. Not what RUclips wants you to buy. Many argue the mirrorless color science is not as nice as the older DSLR types. Heck even some think CCD sensors are dreamy. The 1DX is the camera I buy till I die. I need no other cameras. Proof, I checked out the Z9 by Nikon. Lust, love is there, but relevance is not. Price, lenses, color science, and so on. Canon, and Sony for me. Your mileage may vary.

      @@Art_Wine_And_Anarchy Not entirely sure what you mean, the 1DX Mark 2 offers DCI Cinema 4K? and it's really good 4K, might be 17:9 aspect ratio and a crop, but from what I've used it's incredible. And if that wasn't a compelling argument the 1080P upscaled to 4K on the 1DX Mark 2 is better than what most people can distinguish the difference on.
      The original 1DX doesn't offer 4K though so I'll take your point. But from what I read, It's like you won't accept the 1DX Mark 2 because it's predecessor didn't have 4K.
      As for the other, I've done Audi Commercials, Live Shows and Music Videos with the 1DX Mark 2, and it's 1080P and 4K is really something to behold, and I've had people say that the results is better than what people have produced with the Black Magic Pocket Cinema's and those are dedicated video cameras.
      90D is nice but I couldn't go back to a crop sensor, (sounds hypocritical since the 1DX Mark 2 crops in) but at the same time there's a huge quality difference plus I still do my photography business and 1080p Proxy footage in full frame and to me that's more essential. and furthermore the 1DX Mark 3 is something even more incredible, it's 5.5K RAW outshines any DSLR on the market, doesn't crop in and actually produces nicer results than the R5 which is surprising. Oh and it doesn't over heat haha.
